The Delhi Police on Diwali night arrested as many as 261 people for allegedly possessing firecrackers, which were banned during Diwali.

According to a note shared by journalist Raj Shekhar Jha, a total of 433 cases were registered from various parts of Delhi till 28th October and 261 people were arrested.
In Rohini area of Delhi 994 kgs of crackers were seized in total and 25 cases registered. 23 people were also arrested by Delhi Police. Amusingly, from East Delhi, Delhi Police has arrested two people for possession of two ‘sutli bombs’ and two ‘used bombs’. Last year too Delhi Police had arrested a man after his children were found bursting crackers.
The Supreme Court in 2018 had banned conventional firecrackers in Delhi in a bid to curb air pollution in the national capital.
