On 8th April, Assam Congress leader Gaurva Gogoi posted on X some pictures of a townhouse in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, saying that “some friends are sending” him these pictures. Gogoi launched a veiled attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, days after claiming that CM Sarma’s wife possessed three passports, owns properties in Dubai, and has stashed ₹52,000 crore in the USA.
“Friends in the Middle East are sending me pictures of the Townhouse Address Atlantis The Royal Residences, Crescent Road, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai,” Gogoi wrote.

However, social media users quickly called out Gogoi’s gimmick. A simple search on the internet revealed that the townhouse, the Congress leader was indirectly suggesting to be owned by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, is a 4-bedroom townhouse for sale in Atlantis The Royal Residences, Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
It is worth noting that under the leadership of Pawan Khera, the Assam Congress had levelled several serious allegations against the Chief Minister’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, including claims that she possessed three passports, owns properties in Dubai, and has stashed ₹52,000 crore in the USA. Khera had presented the copies of passports and documents supporting his allegations. However, all these documents have been found to be fake, as most of the original documents have been located by the BJP. Congress doctored those documents to insert the CM’s wife’s name and details to level the allegations.
The allegations have been denied by both Riniki Sarma and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a press conference on Monday, CM Sarma debunked the lies peddled by the Congress party about his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. He highlighted that the targeting of his wife by the grand old party, ahead of the Assam Vidhan Sabha election, had a Pakistani link.
“The Pakistani link to the yesterday’s press conference has also now become very very apparent. The entire material of the press conference which has taken place yesterday was supplied from a Pakistani social media group,” the Assam CM pointed out.
He announced that both criminal and civil defamation cases have been filed against Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera for raising the issue in public, using fraudulent documents to influence the outcome of the election. Since then, Pawan Khera has reportedly hidden in Congress-ruled Telangana’s Hyderabad fearing arrest by Assam Police.
