In Gujarat’s Rajkot, a row has erupted over the mysterious death of a 23-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Nandini. The former AAP candidate for the Jetpur Navagadh Municipality was found hanging in a flat near Gondal Chowkadi in Rajkot.
Nandini’s family alleges that this is not a suicide but a planned murder, and Nandini’s live-in partner, Aslam Hussain Sama, is behind it.
The deceased woman’s family said that a day before her death, Nandini had gone to Aslam’s aunt’s house in the Jangaleshwar area, where she was beaten so badly that she had injuries on her body.
After being subjected to this cruelty, Nandani sent a message to her younger sister, explaining that she had been beaten again and would now live separately and start a new life. She also shared a post on social media, writing, “Papa, I have lost the battle of life.”
The family was alarmed by these messages and posts. The father immediately sent relatives living in Rajkot to investigate. When the relatives arrived at Nandini’s flat in Agam Residency on Vavadi Road, the door was locked from the inside. Suspicious, they broke it down. Upon entering, they found Nandini’s body hanging from a noose.
They accuse Aslam of murder, saying he was involved in a liquor business and numerous illegal activities. He was already married. Despite having a child, he trapped Nandini, who worked as a medical representative. He then brought her from a PG in Junagadh to Rajkot. He then began torturing her mentally and physically.
According to the deceased’s sister and father, Aslam’s family was also involved in the harassment. They even attacked Nandini with a knife once, leading to a case being filed against five people, including Aslam’s wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, at the Junagadh C Division police station.
It is also known that Nandini and Aslam had been feuding for a long time because Aslam’s mother and sister repeatedly urged him to stay with his wife. When Nandini confronted her, Aslam beat her severely.
Reports quoting the family members of the deceased also say that when Nandini went to live with Aslam, Aslam told her that he did not want a child, so he got her operated on and her uterus removed so that she could never have a child.
Aslam Hussain Sama has been absconding since Nandini’s dead body was found. The police are searching for him.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem.
