On 8th September, the Mumbai Police detained a man with a fake Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) ID card at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF). The detainee has been identified as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh. The police have also recovered a gun.
Parekh claimed to be a PMO official. However, during verification, it turned out that his PMO ID card was fake.
The police have detained one more individual in connection with the case, a bodyguard who was carrying a gun.
“Two individuals have been detained from the venue in Mumbai where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to attend an event. A gun was recovered from one of the individuals. The Mumbai Police detained a man at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in BKC who was claiming to be an official from the Prime Minister’s Office,” ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.

“The detained man is reported to be 24 years old. He was accompanied by a bodyguard who was carrying a gun. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now conducting further investigation into the matter,” the police added.
Notably, a similar incident was reported in January 2023 at the Bandra Kurla Complex ahead of PM Modi’s visit. Back then, a person named Rameshwar Mishra, who claimed to be a soldier, was caught carrying a fake identity card in the name of the National Security Guard (NSG).
