‘Bring sticks, blades and nails, crawl under buses, tear up their seats’: CJP supporter Harjinder Singh Saluja’s “advice” to Gen Z before Jantar Mantar protest; deletes video after backlash

Harjinder Singh Saluja, a Ravish Kumar fan and member of the opposition ecosystem, has called for unrest during the upcoming Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. In a video released on 7th October (Wednesday), he told Gen Z participants “not to arm” themselves with sticks, blades and nails, using the classic antiphrasis tactic, actually wanting them to engage in such actions.

Saluja also “advised against” crawling beneath vehicles to stop their movement and indulge in vandalism. The video is laced with similar dog-whistling and insinuations that could inflame tensions and potentially trigger violence during the agitation.

He stated, “CJP has called for a protest on 10th October. Gen Z kids, don’t indulge in any mischief like crawling underneath a bus. How will the driver manoeuvre the vehicle? He will wonder whether these people have gone underground or are protesting. He won’t be able to drive. Don’t run away with the keys or puncture the tyres either.”

He then mocked, “The government might have punctured the country and made it impossible to run, but if you puncture a tyre, the bus won’t move. How will anything progress like this? What, then, would be the difference between them and you?”

“Carry huge flags on big sticks, but use only the flags, not the sticks. Are you understanding what I’m saying? People might also tell you not to carry blades, as that could result in cases being filed against you. Moreover, those small nails used by shoemakers, don’t use them to tear up the seats of (the official vehicles sent to the protest site),” Saluja conveyed indirectly to urge protesters to carry these items, couching the message in a conspiratorial undertone.

He added, “I will be there and keeping an eye on everyone. Other older people like me should also guide the youngsters in the comments about what they should avoid during the agitation. See you there,” pressing others to similarly provoke the demonstrators. Notably, he came under fire for his inflammatory remarks and removed the video.

However, this is not the first instance of such an attempt by a member of this group. Rabid anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) troll Ramit Verma, who runs the @thepeeinghuman X handle, employed the same “don’t do this” framing while drawing attention to the act he claimed to discourage. He asked CJP protesters “not to dress” as police officers during the agitation.

In reality, however, he was instructing them to put on police uniforms, which is illegal as Indian law restricts their use to authorised personnel. “Requesting all protesters to not buy this and show up at the protest wearing it; please do not. Thanks. Also, please report this link so that no one can use it,” he wrote, while adding a link to an online platform called “Trendzmy” selling police uniforms and related accessories.
