Narendra Modi didn’t look after his wife, how will he look after masses? Mamata Banerjee’s personal attack on PM Modi

Many politicians of the opposition parties have brought in PM Modi's estranged wife, Jashodaben, in the political mudslinging

In a personal attack on Prime Minister Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said he ‘neglected his wife’, how will he take care of masses. Banerjee was speaking in West Bengal’s Alipurduar.

Calling Prime Minister Modi ‘a liar’, Banerjee said that TMC will lead the formation of the new government in Centre after defeating Modi.

It is not new for the Opposition party leaders and supporters to take personal digs at PM Modi and bring in his estranged wife, a private individual, in political mudslinging. As per reports, back in 2017, Congress had tried to rope in Jashodaben to contest the Gujarat state assembly elections.

Later, stooping to a new low, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, too, dragged Jashodaben in his political fight. AAP leader Somnath Bharti was caught on camera referring to a Sudarshan News channel journalist to ‘take to prostitution’ for asking him an uncomfortable question. After widespread social media outrage, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal condemned his behaviour. Somnath Bharti then decided to brazen it out and accused PM Modi of ‘imprisoning’ his estranged wife Jashodaben.

At this point, instead of calling out Bharti, Kejriwal had actually encouraged his whataboutery.

It is rather unfortunate to drag the family of politicians into political attacks, especially when the family members are private individuals who have nothing to do with the politician.
