China and Pakistan only countries to raise Kashmir at UNHRC, Indian delegation meets UNHRC chief to apprise of the situation

0

While all the member countries of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) believe Kashmir issue to be an internal matter of India, Pakistan and China remain the only to raise Kashmir at the UNHRC. After it made Kashmir references at the meeting, a high-level Indian delegation led by MEA Secretary (East) Vijay Thakur Singh met UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on Thursday at 3 pm (local time) in Geneva to apprise her about the current situation in the region.

Rajiv Kumar Chander, India’s ambassador and permanent representative to the UN was also present as a part of the delegation that met Bachelet.

This meeting was held at the backdrop of Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s claims, at the UNHRC meet on Tuesday, that India has transformed Jammu and Kashmir into a largest “caged prison on this planet” after the abrogation of Article 370. He went on to allege that human rights were being “trampled with impunity” in J&K.

India firmly rejected Qureshi’s allegations and hit back stating that a “fabricated narrative” on J&K came from “the epicentre of global terrorism” and from a nation, which conducts cross-border terrorism as a form of ‘alternate diplomacy.’

China at the UNHRC meet said it opposes any ‘unilateral action,’ which could complicate the situation in the region. It had urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation of tensions.

Pakistan is spooked ever since India abrogated Article 370 from J&K, which granted a special status to the state, bifurcating it into two Union Territories. Since then, it has been running from pillar to post trying in a bid to internationalise the Kashmir issue but has failed in all its attempts. The nation has been shunned globally for its stereotypical rhetorics over Kashmir, however, the perturbed country refuses to abstain.

In another futile attempt, it raked Kashmir issue in the UNHRC once again. While doing so, its Foreign Minister, had in a grand Freudian slip admitted that Kashmir is very much part of India.

Pakistan has been trying its level best to convince the entire world that India resorts to Human Rights violations in Kashmir. Sadly enough, it has not been able to convince its own ministers about the same.

Today, while speaking to Pakistani media, one of their own minister’s Brig. Ijaz Ahmed Shah admitted on record that Pakistan has failed to convince the international community. He was heard saying that people across the globe trust India not Pakistan on Kashmir. He also blamed Pakistan’s ‘ruling elite’ including Prime Minister Imran Khan for destroying the image of the country.

Indian Army officer on UN peacekeeping mission found dead in Congo, had gone missing on Saturday while kayaking in Lake Kivu

0

In an unfortunate incident, an Indian Army officer serving in Congo who had gone missing on Saturday was found dead inside Lake Kivu Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Solanki was serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a part of the Indian contingent in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. Officials said the mortal remains of the deceased officer were recovered after an intensive search operation. The officer’s body was retrieved around 11 am on September 12 from Lake Kivu, about a kilometre away from an island.

On September 8, Lieutenant Colonel Solanki had gone for kayaking to Lake Kivu with a group. Lake Kivu is one of the African Great Lakes which lies on the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. The army sources had informed that while everyone else had come back after kayaking, Lieutenant Colonel Solanki was missing.

After a massive search operation using speed boats and helicopters, the dead body was retrieved around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Solanki`s body was found at a distance of one kilometer from Tchegera Island which lies in the lake. The cause of the army officer’s death is yet to be ascertained. Sources said enquiries are underway to ascertain the cause of death even though prima facie it appears that Solanki died due to drowning accidentally.

Solanki was deputed as a military observer in a UN mission in the Central African nation. He had completed his assignment in Congo and was due to return to his regiment in India within the next few days.

It is pertinent to mention that India is one of the largest troop contributors to UN Peacekeeping missions in the world and at present stands on number three. Indian troops posted with UN peacekeeping missions have done a commendable job and have meritoriously served across global destinations.

Indian Army has a long distinction of serving these missions and has been serving for over 57 years. During this period, it has covered 43 United Nations Missions with more than 90,000 Indian soldiers contributing to the service.

Indian troops are credited with participating in some of the most difficult operations and have suffered various casualties during this service. Losing Lieutenant Colonel Solanki is indeed regrettable.

Chidambaram has company: AAP MLA Som Dutt to spend 6 months in Tihar for beating up and assaulting a man

0

As if JKLF chairman Yasin Malik’s company was not enough, former Union minister P Chidambaram, who was sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail for his alleged involvement in the INX Media scam, has another company in the form of AAP MLA Som Dutt. Dutt has been ordered to spend 6 months in Tihar Jail for beating up and assaulting a man.

Dutt was sent to Tihar Jail after he was convicted for assaulting a man during the 2015 assembly elections campaign in Delhi. He had filed a plea against his conviction, however, the Magistrate dismissed it and instructed him to serve a 6-months jail term.

Recently, Chidambaram was sent to Tihar for judicial custody till September 19, 2019, which has now been extended until September 23, 2019. Chidambaram is an accused in the INX Media scam that involves charges of bribery and lobbying in granting foreign investments worth over Rs 300 crores to INX Media. INX Media, later known as NewsX was owned by Peter and Indrani Mukherjee of the sensational Sheena Bora murder case. Chidambaram is accused of misusing his power as the finance minister to grant INX Media an FIPB clearance.

Malik is currently lodged in Tihar for terror funding case. In addition to this, after a delay of almost 3 decades, Malik’s trial in the 1990 IAF personnel’s murder case resumed on Wednesday at the TADA (Terrorist & Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) court in Jammu.

The Wire falls off a cliff: New article on the propaganda site claims Dalits will be next victims of ‘Shah’s lethal strategies’

The Wire published an article on Thursday that could only be described as bizarre. In the article, Chinnaiah Jangam, assistant professor in the department of history, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada and author of the book ‘Dalits and the Making of Modern India’, tries rather desperately to connect the abrogation of Article 370 with the issue of reservations.

The article relies on speculation and half-truths to dent BJP’s popularity among Dalits. It regurgitates many liberal talking points from earlier and tortures facts even further to come up with even more twisted conclusions. The article, quite clearly, is the consequence of wild liberal fantasies.

Jangam says, “In his first term, Modi demonstrated that Muslims and Dalits were not safe under his watch as there was a spike in lynchings by cow vigilante groups across India. In maintaining a deadly silence, Modi enabled inaction from state institutions and emboldened the criminals to act with impunity.”

First things first, Narendra Modi did not maintain a ‘deadly silence’ over the alleged lynchings. He condemned them entirely. Secondly, there isn’t reliable data available to suggest that there was a ‘spike’ in lynchings. The author, perhaps, has taken the corrupt IndiaSpend data too seriously.

Rather ironically, Jangam says, “In the Hindu right’s perception, Muslims and Dalits fall into the same category as both the communities are connected to the cattle economy and also remain outside their imagination. It is not a surprise then that after Muslims, Dalits will be at the receiving end of Shah’s lethal strategies.”

Liberals are known to engage in projection but this takes projection to a whole new different level. It’s not the Hindu Right that pits Muslims and Dalits in the same category, it’s Liberals who do so. The entire article by Jangam is an effort to create the mythical ‘Dalit-Muslim unity‘ that liberals so crave.

After spending a disproportionate amount of time trying to forge a political alliance between Dalits and Muslims and failing miserably, liberals now claim that it’s not them who put Dalits and Muslims in the same category, it’s the Hindu Right. Contrary to liberals, the Hindu Right has always maintained that Dalits are Hindus as well and have always been part of the Hindu fold. It’s also maintained by the Hindu Right that Dalits have been suffering the brutalities of Radical Islam for far too long without receiving adequate attention. And yet, if Jangam is to be believed, it’s the Hindu Right that lumps them together.

Even more ironically, Jangam then uses his wildly false assumption to reach completely bizarre conclusions. There have been no policy decisions that have been taken to persecute the Muslim community. To claim otherwise is sheer lunacy. Then, to claim that Dalits will be the victims of ‘Shah’s lethal strategies’ next is an extravagant display of Jangam’s problematic relationship with observable reality.

The entire article is littered with outlandish allegations which are borne entirely of the figments of the author’s own fertile imaginations. He says at one point, “Shah is working to permanently destroy the sources of Dalit assertion.” On another occasion, Jangam says, “After the success of the Hindu right’s polarising politics and its demonisation of Muslims, the strategy now is to marginalise and demonise Dalits as they remain an important threat to its politics and ideology.”

The deranged rhetoric only escalates as the article moves forward. It says, “It will not be a surprise if Shah soon declares in parliament that reservations are redundant and must be scrapped. This is another way to demolish the Dalits legally.” He also declares emphatically, “As Amit Shah is determined to break the avenues for emancipation and pulverise Dalit politics using constitutional means, it is incumbent upon every Dalit to read and protect every page of the constitution.”

Jangam concludes his rather perverse rant with the bold declaration, “One day he (Shah) might even shred the Constitution if he believes it no longer serves his purpose of furthering divisive politics and the consolidation of the Hindu vote bank. Thus, every Dalit has an ethical responsibility to stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the Hindu right threatens their very future in India.”

The article appears to be a compilation of every dumb liberal argument made to perpetuate the myth of Dalit-Muslim unity. All the blockbuster smashing hits in the liberal propaganda charts, they all find mention in this article. Jangam makes it appear as if India in 2019 is the real-life version of Mad Max Fury Road. The article doesn’t even attempt to appear credible. Worse, there doesn’t appear to be a way of seriously rebutting any of Jangam’s arguments. How does anyone logically rebut what comes across as someone’s idea of a bad joke?

In Jangam’s mind, Amit Shah appears to be a combination of the worst of Voldemort, Sauron and Adolf Hitler magnified a million times. The assistant professor doesn’t even bother to come across as a credible person. He says of Amit Shah, “Having been jailed on charges of murder, extortion and kidnapping, Shah’s elevation to the position of the home minister is truly ironical.”

He never quite mentions that Shah was found innocent of all charges and it has become evident over time that it was the most blatant case of political vendetta. The Congress party used the state machinery to persecute its political opponents and destroy their careers. And yet, liberals, who claim to have a monopoly over truth and intellect, will deny the obvious with a straight face.

There was a time when The Wire manufactured quality propaganda. But it appears as though the results of the 2019 General Elections have broken their hearts. They have lost their will, the fight in their eyes is gone. Such amateurish propaganda was spawned in the pits of their desperation and nourished by unrelenting nihilism. They tried so hard to prevent Narendra Modi’s reelection in 2019 and yet, here we are. Now, they have just given up and publishing propaganda articles that would be marked 3/10 in most reputed schools.

The article demonstrates that liberals have learned nothing from the remarkable electoral defeat they suffered and are doing what they have always done: Double down on their flawed rhetoric. Unfortunately, however, if they travel any further Left, they will fall off the edge of the cliff. And that is precisely what seems have to have happened to The Wire.

29 years later, Bengal court acquits Lalu Alam, the man who had cracked Mamata Banerjee’s skull

0

The Alipore court in West Bengal on Thursday acquitted a man named Lalu Alam, accused in a case of attempt to murder West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee when she was the Youth Congress President almost 29 years ago. The court absolved Alam observing that there was no evidence against him and there was no chance that witnesses would come forward now.

The incident dates back to August 1990 which had grabbed headlines after the primary accused Alam hit Mamata Banerjee on the head with a stick at Hazra crossing near her Kalighat residence, fracturing her skull. Mamata Banerjee was on the street along with other Congress workers trying to enforce a bandh called by the party. They were confronted by CPI(M) workers, and in the ensuing scuffle, Mamata Banerjee was hit by Alam on her head.

In 1994 Mamata Banerjee had deposed before the court as a witness in the case.

The government lawyer Radhakanta Mukherjee said that most of the persons who were named in the charge sheet have either died or are still absconding. According to him, there is nothing left in the case and the government has decided not to waste time and money by needlessly pursuing the case any further. He also asserted that the case was blocked for 21 years by the left government until 2011. Mukherjee said that the chief minister was ready to depose before the court via video conferencing but it could not be arranged.

In 2011 when Mamata Banerjee became the chief minister of the state, toppling the left government, the main accused Alam had claimed that he was happy and he was framed by the leftist leaders. Alam (62), a former leader of the youth wing of the then ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist), lives in Park Circus area in south Kolkata and runs a small business. “I am relieved now. I can’t express the delight I am currently feeling in words. I was worried that the person had become the chief minister. However, if the government had taken the decision in 2011 (when Mamata Banerjee assumed charge of the state), I would have been able to focus on my work more,” said Alam.

After The Hindu joins hands with BBC to combat fake news, its journalists spreads fake news about OpIndia

Vijaita Singh, a journalist with The Hindu, tried to mock OpIndia today by saying that one can’t really expect OpIndia to read and analyse documents. Saying that the portal is a hit job factory, she accused that OpIndia can’t read. But the allegations made by her are completely wrong, and The Hindu itself had committed that same ‘crime’ she was accusing OpIndia of committing. She was responding to former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan, who had accused that news agency IANS published a report on him without seeking his response.

Kannan Gopinathan had recently resigned from his job protesting against the restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir, and recently it was revealed that he was facing disciplinary action for misconduct. He was issued a show-cause notice by the government, which was reported by OpIndia on September 1, and IANS had reported the same on 12th September.

Replying to a tweet by IANS on the issue, Kannan had said that IANS didn’t seek his response like OpIndia, and therefore he was replying what he had replied to OpIndia earlier. In this particular tweet, the former IAS officer was primarily criticising IANS for publishing a story on him without talking to him, and mentioned OpIndia that also did the same earlier.

But the Hindu journalist chose to pick only mention of OpIndia in his tweet, and totally failed to mention IANS, which was the primary target of Kannan. But the interesting fact is that, The Hindu, where Vijaita Singh is a journalist, itself had carried the story quoting news agencies, and without getting any response from Kannan Gopinathan. But later they updated the report with responses from him.

In fact the original headline of the Hindu article was “IAS officer Kannan was issued showcause for ‘misconduct’ before he quit, but after adding his responses, the headline was changed.

Although OpIndia didn’t talk to Kannan before publishing the report on him, the report did mention his responses to the show cause notice issued by the government. Apart from a summary of his replies, the entire PDF document of his response was embedded in the report. He is using the screenshots of the same document as his response to the report on Twitter. Therefore, even if OpIndia didn’t talk to him, all his responses were already included in the report. The 11-page response submitted by him contains detailed replies to each of the charges made against him.

While Vijaita Singh accuses OpIndia of being unable to read documents, the fact is that the OpIndia report on Kannan was based on two documents, the show cause notice issued to him, and his reply to the notice. Both the documents were included in the report, and the content of the documents were briefly explained in the report. The allegations made against him were listed, and his replies were also mentioned, it was not a one-sided report as alleged.

The authenticity of none of the documents used in the report has been questioned by Kannan Gopinathan or anyone else, in fact he is posting pages from his reply on Twitter, thus confirming that the documents are authentic.

Therefore, the claim that OpIndia report didn’t contain Gopinathan’s response is not correct. Although the responses were not directly obtained from him, it was obtained from his official reply to the show cause notice issued to him.

After being subjected to genocide, Kashmiri Pandits are being called ‘vicious’ and are the new villains for the woke-folk

0

It’s established and might I add a successful formula which the ‘woke-folk’ apply every time they are caught opining something they have absolutely no clue about, they throw accusations at you. The theatrics start almost as soon as you make an attempt to reason with them.

Since last month the usual suspects have been busy feeding social and international media with their customary rants about how the valley has been turned into a hellhole by the ‘Fascist’ Indian Government. The stories range from a brutal attack by the Indian Army, purposeful stalling of medical assistance for the sick, shutting down telephone line means a war on Kashmiris, to the sensational expose’ by that ultimate JNU student about Indian Army deploying a mic while torturing Kashmiris to perpetuate fear among the locals.

Abrogation of Article 370 has unleashed the bleeding hearts both on social media and TV channels. From self-styled Feminists to Lawyers to Students to closeted Congress/Communist party supporters have been screaming blue murder for the Indian Government finally equalizing the rights of the people of the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the country.

Since the ‘clampdown’ of the valley is a juicier topic the bleeding hearts have given lynching stories a break for the time being however there is a twist this time around. Guess who is the villain now?

As ridiculous as it sounds, the Kashmiri Pandits who were brutally driven out of their homeland 30 years ago are being termed vicious & vindictive while the hunter is now the hunted.

One needs to read Rahul Pandita’s “Our Moon Has Blood Clots” a personal and a touching tale of the abyss his family [and community] lived through and whose wounds are still raw to realize how shameful we as a nation need to be for betraying our own. But nay, it is the Pandit community who betrayed the mythical Kashmiriat. Why? Because they dared to support the abrogation.

Author and Journalist Rahul Pandita has been continuously lynched on twitter by these ‘enlightened’ souls who nonchalantly labelled him ‘Closeted Sanghi’ only for sharing reportage which did not match their favourite line- ‘Indian Government/Army Atrocities in the Kashmir Valley’.

A Kashmiri Congress party leader termed Rahul’s tweet as ‘disingenuous, condescending and disgusting’!

That’s not all, the bearded prince charming from the self-proclaimed ‘unbiased’ channel (currently trying to salvage their reputation amidst investigation for serious economic crimes) went on to accuse Rahul of a shilling (playing stooge) for the government. Why? Because Rahul tweeted a factual statement on Yasin Malliks’ cardiologist. The bleeding-heart prince charming was quick to term it ‘dangerous slander of medical ethics’

As soon as you call them apologists [for Yasin Mallik and other separatists] you are labelled Sanghi, Stooge, Vicious. Yeah! who cares any longer?

The Kashmiri Pandit community quietly rebuilt their lives and perhaps the only way they protested is by writing and sharing their stories to those who were interested. Yet the separatists have an army of supporters both on social and mainstream media maybe that’s why one can count the number of stories reported on the suffering of KPs on one’s fingers. No one cared for them, least of all our holier than thou MSM, lets not even talk about the previous dispensation. But hey you are the Sanghis!

My prediction is the ‘woke-folk’ will continue to accuse KPs of the next 30 days or so or till there is another biggish incident which involves a different set of Hindus.

After buffaloes, Samajwadi Party leader and land mafia Azam Khan now booked for stealing goats

0

Rampur Police in Uttar Pradesh have booked Azam Khan on allegations of ‘stealing goats’ following the complaint which was filed on October 2016.

As per reports, Khan and some of his associates were booked by Rampur Police.

Day after day the Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan is bringing in more and more embarrassment for his party. It was first land-grabbing, then lion statues, followed by books and valuable manuscripts, then buffaloes and electricity and now he has been booked for ‘stealing goats’.

Almost a week back the Rampur MP had been booked for electricity theft. The power supply to Azam Khan’s resort ‘Humsafar’ in Uttar Pradesh was cut after raids were conducted in the resort by the Uttar Pradesh electricity department.

The SP leader, who is already in neck-deep trouble as almost 80 cases are pending in his name is now facing fresh predicaments as Rampur police books him for ‘stealing goats’.

Interestingly, the Uttar Pradesh Police has also registered an FIR against the wife of senior Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Azam Khan, Tajeen Fatima. Azam Khan’s wife has been accused of electricity theft.

Earlier, Khan’s Mohammad Ali Jauhar University was raided by Rampur police following a complaint by the principal of Madrasa Aliya, wherein he stated that 9000 books and rare manuscripts from the Madrasa have been stolen.

Azam Khan was then booked for the alleged theft of these books and valuable manuscripts. Khan had applied for anticipatory bail before the court in the case related to the theft of books and ancient Islamic manuscripts from the Aaliya Madarsa, which was rejected.

Azam Khan’s bail application in as many as 34 cases has already been rejected which mostly includes land grabbing cases and also the case registered against him for his sexist jibe against BJP leader Jaya Prada.

Recently, Samajwadi Party leader and ‘land mafia’ Azam Khan was booked for ‘dacoity’ and stealing buffalo. Two people have filed an FIR against him in Rampur for allegedly stealing buffalo for which his anticipatory bail plea was also rejected.

A day before, the Samajwadi Party MP’ name had appeared in the FIR for a dacoity case. In this fresh case, it was alleged that he and his allies forcefully acquired land from a farmer for a school he had built.

Samajwadi Party senior leader Azam Khan is embroiled in over 80 criminal cases slapped on him under various offences.

Pakistan denies second consular access to India in Kulbhushan Jadhav case

0

Pakistan Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Faisal, said in a statement Thursday that Pakistan will not allow India second consular access to the former naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court.

Pakistan had on September 2 granted the first consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav in line with the “Vienna Convention and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) verdict” first time ever since his arrest in 2016. An Indian diplomat, Gaurav Ahluwalia had met Kulbhushan Jadhav at a sub-jail for an hour.

Hours after the first consular access, the Indian government has said that Kulbhushan Jadhav appears to be “under extreme pressure” to parrot a false narrative and had furthered that only after receiving a detailed report will India decide on the future course of action.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands had directed Pakistan to stay Jadhav’s execution and allow him consular access. Based on ICJ’s verdict in a 15-1 decision on July 17, Pakistan had on July 30 sent its first proposal to India but with 2 riders attached. One that Pakistani security personnel will be present during the meeting and second there will be CCTV cameras present in the room.

India had rejected Pakistan’s first offer with riders and had demanded unimpeded access. According to article 36 of the Vienna Convention, “Consular officer shall be free to communicate with nationals of the sending State and to have access to them.” The first rider by Pakistan was in clear violation of the Vienna Convention.

Jadhav is an Indian national and a retired navy officer, who was arbitrarily arrested by Pakistan in 2016 for being an ‘Indian spy’. The Indian government had approached the ICJ over the arbitrary death sentence handed down to Jadhav after an ad hoc hearing in Pakistan.

A Pakistani military court had sentenced him to death in April 2017 on charges of espionage and terrorism. However, the ICJ in The Hague had asked Pakistan to hold off the execution till it reached the final verdict in the case.

The ICJ had conducted a public hearing of the case in February this year. India has sought annulment of Jadhav’s death sentence and his immediate release stating that Pakistani army court verdict had failed to satisfy even the minimum standards of due process. Senior advocate Harish Salve had presented India’s case at the ICJ.
