“Abandon idol worship. These stones can’t give you anything”: Neil Nitin Mukesh abused by Islamists for his Hanuman Janmotsav wish on Instagram

Neil Nitin Mukesh recently joined the group of celebrities who have endured backlash for wishing Hindus or observing their religious festivals and traditions at the hands of Muslim social media users.

He put ‘Jai Shree Ram’ beneath an image of Lord Hanuman’s idols and a ‘gada’ to wish on ‘Hanuman Janmotsav.’ He was wearing a checkered shirt with a cap and a red tilak on his forehead. However, this gesture didn’t go down well with Muslim netizens who expressed their anger by attacking him.

A netizen mocked ‘Hinduism’ by calling it ‘nonsense’ and asked, “How can you worship ‘stone,’ something you have created?”

From actors like Sara Ali Khan and Dipika Kakkar Ibrahim to cricketers like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Kaif, every celebrity irrespective of their religion, who dared to take part in Hindu rituals or wished the community on their festivals is slammed by Muslim zealots for doing so.

Neil Nitin Mukesh is the son of Bollywood playback singer Nitin Mukesh and the grandson of late veteran singer Mukesh Chand Mathur, popularly known as Mukesh.

Netizens school former Finance Minister P Chidambaram following his elitist question on usefulness of Mudra loans, read what happened

On Sunday, April 9, 2023, former finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram took to Twitter to criticise the Mudra Loan Scheme of the central government. However, he was schooled by netizens for the elitism he exhibited in his tweet.

Chidambaram questioned that a large percentage of the Mudra loans are below Rs. 50,000 so how can one start a business with this much money. Twitter users educated Mr. Chidambaram following this and told him about multiple businesses that can be started in that amount.

P Chidambaram posted, “Under the Mudra Loan scheme, loans of the value of Rs 23.2 lakh crore have been given in eight years Impressive. Until you notice that 83 per cent of those loans are under Rs 50,000. That is Rs 19,25,600 crore of loans have been given to borrowers at the rate of Rs 50,000 or less. It leaves me wondering what kind of business can be done today with a loan of Rs 50,000?”

As soon as the veteran Congress leader shared this tweet, Twitter users started informing him about the businesses that can be started with that amount.

The Mudra loan has in fact served several small businessmen in India who started with less capital and earned a livelihood for their families. These small businesses are mostly unorganized and cover the lower-income strata of the economy. This Mudra scheme has provided loans to these small business operators and helped them grow their businesses and empowered them financially.

JNU professor Anand Ranganathan tweeted in response, “What kind of business can be done with a loan of Rs 50,000? he wonders. With a loan of Rs 80, Jaswantiben started her business of Lijjat papad, drying and packaging them by hand. Today her turnover is 1810 crore. She employs 46,500 women. Together they make 4 billion papads.”

Tattvam Asi posted, “Sir, I helped 2 families buy pushcarts (13000 each) with a bit of modification, vegetables, and fruits worth 9000.. measuring weights ( for one) and cooking stuff for another in all about 38000. On average, families earn 400-500/day. Not bad for a poorly educated rural family with a house of their own under PMGAY (Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana).”

A businessman Jagdish Bhatia posted, “Started my online business with the first purchase of Rs 26000 only.”

Daraius Ardeshir posted, “Street Vendors. Hawkers. Kabbadi Walas. Painters. Handcart Owners. Plumbers. Delivery Boys . . . the list is endless. But hey, what would an elitist ex-Minister, involved in various let’s-call-them-“multi-crore-transactions”, know what the common man can do with Rs 50,000 ??”

Professor Dr Ashish Gupta shared a list of businesses that can be started with a capital of up to Rs 50000. He wrote, “1. Confectionary shop 2. Grocery shop 3. Repair shop 4. Kirana shop 5. Barbershop 6. Puncture repair 7. Mobile sim shop 8. Electronic household repair shop 9. Medical disposable shop All this can be done with a 50K loan… I guess only cauliflower grown on a balcony requires investment in crores.”

Tinku Bhardwaj posted, “Sitting in your AC room, made thru ill-gotten wealth, wondering what business can be started. Hit the ground, talk to people. Many hardworking people do business with 1lac. Don’t sit in your ivory tower and give gyaan.”

Incidentally, P Chidambaram was arrested and sent to jail in connection with the INX Media case in August 2019, a business that was started with several crores. Chidambaram was granted bail by the Supreme Court of India in December 2019, after spending over 100 days in Tihar Jail. The case is still ongoing.

‘Some people remain uneducated even after getting an IIT degree’: LG VK Saxena takes a jibe at CM Arvind Kejriwal for targeting PM’s degree

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party has been continuously questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees for the last few days. Against this backdrop, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has taken a jibe at CM Arvind Kejriwal. Without naming Kejriwal, LG VK Saxena said that some people remain uneducated even after getting a degree from IIT.

LG further said that no one should boast about the degree, and degrees are a receipt of studies. Education is what represents the ideal of human beings. The Lieutenant Governor was asked about the Aam Aadmi Party which is constantly raising questions about the degree of the Prime Minister. In response to this question, LG said, “Yes, I have also heard that some things have been said in the Assembly, but no one should ever boast about their degree. Degrees are receipts for the cost of education. Education is what shows the knowledge of human beings. The behaviour we have seen these days proves that some people remain uneducated even after getting an IIT degree.”

Arvind Kejriwal was recently fined by Gujarat High Court for filling an RTI plea to get PM Modi’s degrees. The court had slammed him for misuse of the RTI platform when the degrees of Narendra Modi are publicly available. The court fined Kejriwal in a plea challenging a 2016 order by the CIC (Central Information Commission) asking the PMO to issue Prime Minister Modi’s undergraduate and post-graduate degrees.

The court said PM Modi’s degree certificates were available on media, social media, and on the University website, adding that the respondent (Arvind Kejriwal) never questioned the authenticity of the degree during the pendency of the proceedings or even during the final hearing. The court fined Arvind Kejriwal Rs 25,000 and concluded that there has been an indiscriminate misuse of the salutary provisions of the RTI Act.

The Aam Aadmi Party has now also launched the Show Degree Campaign in which the party is challenging leaders from various parties to show their degrees.

It is notable that, AAP leader Jitendra Singh Tomar, who had been the Law Minister in Delhi government, had to resign from the post after allegations of furnishing a fake degree surfaced against him. In 2017, the TM Bhagalpur University in Bihar cancelled the law degree awarded to him. It was found that Tomar had fraudulently obtained the degree with the connivance of some employees of the university. The University had taken the decision after a Delhi police probe had found that Tomar’s law and BSc degrees were fake. Police had found that he had not appeared in any exam to get the degrees. Along with Tomar, 16 other people were involved in issuing the fake certificates. A former principal and several staff of the university were named in the case.

As AAP leaders start ‘Degree Dikhao’ campaign, a throwback to the time their leader was arrested in his own fake degree case

On Sunday (April 9), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched its ‘Degree Dikhao’ campaign in the hopes of casting aspersions on the authenticity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualifications.

AAP MLA Atishi announced, “We are launching Degree Dikhao campaign from today onwards. Every single day, one AAP leader will showcase his/her degree before the public. I am kicking off this campaign by showing you my BA degree from Delhi University and two MA degrees from Oxford University.”

“I want to appeal to all politicians in the country to let the public know about their educational qualifications. I will make a special request to the BJP to ask their leader (referring to PM Modi) to show his degrees as well if at all he has one,” she said.

For over 8 years, the Aam Aadmi Party had been insinuating that PM Modi does not have an educational degree. This is despite the fact that BJP leader Amit Shah put the Prime Minister’s degrees on public display in May 2016 (7 years ago).

Recently, even the Gujarat High Court reprimanded AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for raking up the issue of PM Modi’s degree even though the same can be accessed by anyone.

Even then, AAP did not stop its relentless propaganda to suggest that the degrees are fake. With the 2024 elections in mind, the party is looking to target the BJP by reiterating the same lies surrounding the Prime Minister’s educational qualifications.

AAP Minister Jitender Singh Tomar and the saga of his fake degree

While Atishi has announced that every AAP leader will show his degree to the public from April 9 onwards, it must be mentioned how a former party MLA and Delhi Cabinet Minister went to jail over his fake degree.

Jitender Singh Tomar, who served as AAP MLA and Delhi Law Minister, was arrested in June 2015 for submitting a forged law degree from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University while filing his election nomination.

He had also fraudulently claimed to have obtained a BSc degree from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University in Faizabad. Tomar had used these forged documents to obtain admission to Delhi Bar Council as an advocate.

He later admitted that he bought both degrees from agents in Munger and Delhi with the help of his brother. In order to save face, Aam Aadmi Party did not give him an election ticket but shrewdly handed one to his wife, Preeti Tomar.

“I told the party that my wife will fight the election and the party agreed,” the AAP leader with two fake degrees told the media. As such, the Aam Aadmi Party must do self-introspection before playing out the ‘Degree Dikhao’ campaign.

“My Baby, My Bomma, My bunny rabbit”: Jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar writes to Jacqueline Fernandez on Easter, publishes it as a press release

On Sunday, April 9, jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar penned yet another letter, not to the Delhi CM this time, but to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez to give his special message for ‘Easter’. While the letter is a personal one filled with emotions, Sukesh chose to publish it as a press release. The words ‘Press Statement – Release’ were written on top of the letter, showing that the letter was released to the media.

A printed version of the handwritten letter was also published by the media.

Wishing Jacqueline, whom he addressed as ‘My Baby, My Bomma  (Doll)’, a ‘very Happy Easter’ Sukesh noted that it has been the actress’s favorite festival in the year adding that he misses having Easter eggs with her.

He started the letter by saying, “Baby I wish you a very Happy Easter! Its one of your favourite festive in the year and your love for Easter cggs. I miss having those with you. I miss seeing that a pretty child in you breaking the egg and having the candies inside them.”

Chandrashekhar then goes on to shower praises on Jacqueline’s beauty as he wrote that there is no one prettier than her.

“Do you have any idea how pretty and beautiful you are my baby. There is no one as pretty as you in this planet,” Chandrashekhar’s letter reads.

Calling Jacqueline his ‘bunny rabbit’ he alleged conman wrote, “My bunny rabbit, I love you, my baby. You and me forever come what may, mine forever.” Chandrashekhar further wrote that “this phase is gonna be over for good and all are gonna see,” as he “promised” her the world.

He also claimed that he will do the ‘best of his best’ to make sure that the next Easter shall be the best Easter Jacqueline has ever had. Moreover, Chandrashekhar who is currently lodged in Mandoli jail also mentioned watching Jacqueline in a ‘Lux Cozy’ advertisement.

“That Ad was such a coincidence, but you were super beautiful baby. That Ad was so about us,” Chandrashekhar wrote.

He further adds that there is “not a moment” he does not think about the actress adding that while he was listening to the new version of the popular Hindi song “Tu mile dil khile aur jeene ko kya chahiye,” it reminded him of Jacqueline.

He concluded his letter by thanking his ‘heartbeat’ for loving him ‘crazy’ and wished a “happy easter to mom, dad, and family.”

For the uninitiated, Sukesh Chandrashekhar is being investigated by the Delhi Police in connection with an alleged Rs 215 crore criminal conspiracy, embezzlement, and extortion case. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police had previously filed an FIR against Chandrasekhar for allegedly defrauding the spouses of erstwhile Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh of Rs 215 crore. There are over 20 other cases of extortion registered against the conman who operated a racket from inside his jail cell.

Notably, Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez was also charged as an accused in the extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar by the Enforcement Directorate.

“Minorities, please pray to Allah to finish off Ram Navami rioters’: Mamata Banerjee resorts to dog-whistling, alleges Hindus deliberately entered Muslim areas with guns and bombs

On April 3 this year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee courted controversy after she called upon the Muslim community to pray to Allah to finish off rioters in the State.

She made the contentious remarks at Khejuri in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal Hospital. Although Mamata Banerjee was addressing the public meeting for the distribution of government services, she raked up the issue of violence during the Ram Navami festival.

It must be mentioned that the West Bengal Chief Minister had earlier given a clean chit to Islamists and absolved them of any wrongdoing during the Hindu festival. On April 3, she made a heartfelt appeal to the youth of Purba Medinipur to come forward and fight off rioters in the State.

During her speech, the West Bengal Chief Minister slammed the Hindu devotees, who participated in the Ram Navami procession, for supposedly carrying deadly weapons.

Mamata Banerjee alleged that Hindus took out Ram Navami processions without permission, and asked why there should be processing for five days. ‘Don’t carry guns in procession, don’t carry bombs in the processions’, she said, alleging that guns and bombs were carried by Hindu devotees.

‘Despite the availability of so many roads, they willingly entered minority areas, and there they burnt fruit carts, fruits which are consumed during Ramzan’, she further claimed. The West Bengal CM then warned the Hindus against planning any more violence on Hanuman Jayanti, implying that the Ram Navami violence was planned by Hindus.

She also said that it is the responsibility of Hindus to ensure that no Muslim comes under attack of anyone on Hanuman Jayanti on 6th April.

At about 42 minutes and 20 seconds into the video of her speech, she can be heard saying, “Can’t you step up now and stop these rioters and goons? If women are with me, then, I will show my power to the rioters…” Mamata Banerjee then called upon the students to come forward and stop the outbreak of violence in the State.

Ki sonkha loghu bhai bona ra, Allah Tallah er kache doye kore danaga baaj der khotom korte parbe na (Can’t my brothers and sisters from the minority community pray to Allah to finish off these rioters),” she said at 44:20 minutes.

She also alleged that rioters who damaged public property were paid by the BJP to do so.

The dog-whistling against the Hindu community by the Chief Minister of West Bengal came less than a week after Islamists wreaked havoc on a Ram Navami procession in the Shibpur area of Howrah.

It must be mentioned that Mamata Banerjee had earlier used radical Islamic terms such as ‘Jihad’, and even ‘Kafir’ to target political opponents.

Mamata Banerjee blames ‘outsiders’ for violence in Howrah

On March 31 this year, the West Bengal CM attempted to blame the Ram Navami violence on ‘outsiders.’

“You bring goons-on-hire from outside of Bengal, carry out arson, and orchestrate riots here…We have never stopped you from conducting rallies… Who permitted you to hold rallies with swords and bulldozers?” she said during a protest rally against the Union government.

“I heard that today they used bulldozers in Howrah…What is this audacity? We will give a befitting reply…Why did you change the route (of the Ram Navami procession)? You chose an unauthorised route to provoke a community,” Mamata Banerjee claimed.

The deliberate reference to ‘outsiders’ in the context of the violence, which took place in Howrah, is a ploy by Mamata Banerjee to absolve the role of Islamists in the violence and the failure of law and order in the state.

Ahead of Ram Navami, Mamata Banerjee stirred another controversy by asking Hundus not to take Ram Navami processions through ‘Muslim areas’. “I want to request those who are taking out the Ram Navami procession, please do but do it peacefully. Kindly avoid Muslim areas as Ramzan is going on,” she had said.

IIT Bombay student Arman Iqbal Khatri arrested over suicide of batchmate Darshan Solanki, had threatened Solanki for alleged communal remark

On Sunday, 9th April 2023, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai Police arrested one Arman Iqbal Khatri (age 19) in the Darshan Solanki suicide case that took place in the IIT Bombay. Arman Iqbal Khatri is Darshan Solanki’s batchmate. The police will present Arman Iqbal Khatri in court on Sunday and seek his custody for further investigation.

The handwriting experts have also confirmed that the suicide note recovered earlier, which blamed Arman for the drastic step, was written by the 18-year-old deceased Darshan Solanki. SIT had recovered the suicide note on March 3 from Solanki’s room that reads, “Arman has killed me.” During the inquiry, the SIT discovered that harassment by Solanki’s classmate may have been the cause of his death.

A senior police official said, “We had recorded the statement of Khatri but he is not opening up about the reason that led to the dispute between them. Hence, we arrested him so that we can question him and get the exact sequence of events that led to the fight between Khatri and Solanki.”

The officer further said, “Based on the statements of other students we have recorded, it has come to light that nearly five days prior to the suicide, Solanki had passed a communal remark which had irked Khatri. The latter had threatened him with a cutter and said he would not spare him. Since then, Solanki was petrified and had also apologised to Khatri on a couple of occasions and the two had hugged as well. However, it appears he continued to be scared and had also developed a fever a day before he committed suicide.”

Arman Khatri and Solanki stayed on the same floor of a hostel of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and both were batchmates, according to police.

IIT Bombay student Darshan Solanki committed suicide on 12th February 2023. The Mumbai Police Commissioner appointed an SIT to investigate the case, which is led by Lakhmi Gautam, Joint Commissioner (Crime Branch).

During interrogation, the officers found that Solanki was scared of the suspect in this case. The arrested suspect Armaan Iqbal Khatri is reported to be 19 years old.

Darshan jumped from the refuge area of the IIT-Bombay hostel building on February 12 at around 1 pm. He was taken to the hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead. A case in this regard was then registered at the Powai police station.

Darshan Solanki hailed from Ahmedabad and had joined the institute for a B-Tech course just three and a half months before the incident. Rameshbhai Solanki (47), the father of Darshan, had alleged that Darshan had discussed the caste discrimination he was experiencing at the institute with his older sister Jahnvi and aunt Divyaben.

An internal committee commissioned by the Indian Institute of Bombay found “no specific evidence of direct caste-based discrimination” resulting in the death of Darshan Solanki. The panel also alluded to his “deteriorating academic performance” as a possible reason for taking his life.

However, soon after Darshan committed suicide, a raft of left-leaning ideologues and supporters blamed caste discrimination as the reason for his decision to take the extreme step. They also abused Hindus, alleging that it was due to discrimination perpetuated by the higher caste Hindus that students are forced to the extreme step of ending their lives.

On February 24, the Maharashtra Home Department issued an order to transfer the investigation from the local Powai police station to the Crime Branch, just prior to the beginning of the state’s Budget Session on Monday. The crime branch formed an SIT to probe this matter. The SIT has now arrested the first suspect Arman Iqbal Khatri in this case.

‘Was called porn star, tried committing suicide,’ Uorfi Javed opens up about the physical abuse from her father

In an interview with Humans Of Bombay, social media personality Uorfi Javed revealed why she decided to leave home at the age of 17. She explained that it all began when one of her photos was posted on a porn website.

“When I was growing up in Lucknow,” the actress said, “I didn’t understand why I couldn’t dress a certain way.” She shared that she experienced emotional and physical violence, and even considered suicide.

Uorfi revealed that her picture, in which she was wearing a tube top, was shared on porn websites when she was just 15 and everyone called her a ‘porn star’.

“When I was 15, someone uploaded my picture to a porn site. It was a normal picture. I uploaded it wearing a tube top as my Facebook profile photo. Someone downloaded it and uploaded it on a porn site without morphing, without anything,” she revealed.

“Slowly, everyone got to know about it. Everyone started blaming me a lot. I was told I am a porn star. I was like ‘Where is the video?’ But they said, ‘No, no she is a porn star’,” she added.

Further, she stated that even her father didn’t spare her and beat her so severely that she lost consciousness once. “Even my father was like ‘She is a porn star.’ I think my father was trying to gain sympathy from all this. He was telling everyone that porn site people are asking for ₹50 lahks.”

“I was like, that isn’t possible but I couldn’t say anything because they were beating me up at home. I was so confused and wondered that I am the victim here, why are you hitting me? But they were not ready to believe it. I endured that for two years. It was just too much to take from relatives, my own father. I was 17 when I ran away,” she shared.

When she was 17 years old, she eventually made the decision to run away to Delhi. She explained that she initially started taking classes to help support herself before eventually joining a call centre.

She subsequently made the decision to go to Mumbai, but because she was broke and had nowhere to reside, she remained at the residences of her friends there.

“I did odd jobs, giving interviews and even gave auditions. After a brief period of struggle, I cracked a TV Serial, and then tried my destiny in Bigg Boss OTT,” she admitted. Within a week, she was evicted from the show and she was again without a job. Then she made the decision to work with clothes.

“It didn’t sit well with the people. The world trolled me and called my choices rubbish and weird. I was questioned about my morality and character. But not caring about faceless people’s opinions on the Internet, I kept embracing myself and expressed self-acceptance through my choice,” she commented on being trolled for her clothes.

‘The success of Project Tiger is a matter of pride for the world,’ says PM Modi during the commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger

After visiting the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Mysuru to attend a celebration of the 50th anniversary of ‘Project Tiger’ hosted by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) at the Karnataka State Open University.

At the event, PM Modi unveiled ‘Amrit kaal ka vision for tiger conservation,’ a summary report of the ‘All India Tiger Estimation (5th cycle),’ along with a commemorative coin.

The Prime Minister also established the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA), which will focus on protecting and conserving the seven primary big cats (Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Puma, Jaguar, and Cheetah) of the globe to mark the milestone. Membership in the IBCA will be open to a range of nations with these species.

PM Modi addressed the gathering and during his speech, highlighted that India just celebrated 75 years of freedom and that 75% of the world’s tigers live in the country.

PM Modi called it an outstanding accomplishment and evidence of India’s dedication to wildlife protection. He also mentioned that ‘Project Tiger’ has played a critical role in the increase of the tiger population in India.

“The success of Project Tiger is a matter of pride not only for India but also for the world. Our country has not only conserved tigers but has also given them an ecosystem to flourish,” he noted.

He highlighted the fact that while making up only 2.4% of the planet’s geographical area, India contributes to around 8% of the known global diversity. He also pointed out that the first transcontinental transfer of the big cat, which was accomplished by India, was the successful reintroduction of the cheetah from Namibia and South Africa. He remarked that the country is presently the largest Asian Elephant range country in the world, with close to 30,000 elephants living here.

Twelve cheetahs were brought from South Africa, last February to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Eight cheetahs had previously been transported in September of last year from Namibia and released in the same park.

PM Modi asserted India’s dedication to protecting the environment and Project Tiger’s important role in the rise of the tiger population in the country. He proclaimed that the protection of a wide variety of flora and fauna as well as the resurgence of numerous endangered species, notably the cheetah, are results of India’s efforts to safeguard wildlife.

The PM affirmed, “India is a country which believes in the co-existence of economy and ecology. We are also the largest tiger range country in the world. The huge success and the increase in the number of tigers proves how much the country works towards saving our wildlife.”

The Prime Minister also released the most recent tiger census data according to which India had 2,967 tigers in 2018, but by 2022, that number had increased to 3,167.

Chhattisgarh: Minor fight between 2 kids becomes a clash between two communities in Bemetara, one Hindu youth killed and several including cops injured

0

On Saturday, April 8, a Hindu youth was attacked and killed with a sword by a Muslim mob in the Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh following a minor dispute between two schoolchildren. In this conflict between the Hindu and Muslim communities, about a dozen persons sustained injuries including police personnel. To handle the situation, multiple police units were deployed in the area.

The incident reportedly took place in the Bemetara district’s Biranpur village of the Saja assembly constituency. A bicycle collision occurred between two school students of the two communities at around 12 noon when they were riding on the road. As a result, the Muslim student hit the Hindu student. Soon others present on the spot joined the fight and a Muslim teenager hit the hand of the Hindu student with a glass bottle. In this attack, the Hindu student’s hand was fractured, and this triggered communal violence.

Hearing about the clash, more people arrived, the matter took a heated turn and then escalated into full-blown communal violence. Both sides started to attack each other with sticks and stones.

During this, some sword-wielding Muslims broke into the house of one Ishwar Sahu and started to hit them with swords. They dragged Ishar Sahu’s 22-year-old son Bhuneshwar Sahu out of the house, brought to a Muslim neighbourhood, and killed him with swords. However, according to the Muslims, he had gone there to attack Muslims and he was killed in a retaliatory attack.

The violence continues for around two hours after the killing of the Hindu youth, and therefore his body was lying at the murder spot for a long time. When the police team arrived in Biranpur village to settle the dispute after learning about the incident, the Muslim mob attacked them also, and pelted stones at the police team. Three police personnel including sub-inspector BR Thakur were injured in this attack. Several vehicles including a police vehicle were also set on fire by a mob and then tried to set some houses on fire.

This clash between Hindus and Muslims resulted in the injuries of over a dozen people. The injured have been admitted to Saja Primary Health Centre. And others who were seriously injured were referred to Raipur, the state capital.

Later the situation was brought under control when additional forces arrived at the spot. Police resorted to mild force to bring the situation under control and disperse the mob.

Bemetara SP Indira Kalyan Elesela said that several people have been arrested and the situation is calm now. He said that it was a minor dispute which turned into a communal clash between two communities. “A few people thrashed a child following which a clash broke out. The dispute between two groups eventually turned intense leaving a man dead. A few policemen were also injured in the incident and undergoing treatment,” the SP said.

The dispute’s alleged root is a 4-month-old issue

At Biranpur village, there was a communal dispute around four months ago because a Muslim youth married a Hindu woman. Hindu organizations were against this union. According to reports, there was a conflict between the two sides over this marriage. Nonetheless, the conflict ended at that point. But recently, Muslims killed a Hindu over a small dispute involving a bicycle collision. Reportedly the population of Hindus and Muslims in the village are almost equal.

Section 144 imposed, Biranpur turned into a cantonment

The police have identified those who were involved in the incident and detained some of them while the Hunt for other suspects is underway. According to reports, the following people have been accused of murder and assault: Jalil Khan, Nawab Khan, Rashid Khan, Baseer Khan, Shera Khan, Abdul Khan, Akbar Khan, Nazir Khan, Janab Mohammad, Ayub Khan, Aalim Khan, Shakeel Khan, Ismail Khan, Zaheed Khan, Kalam Khan, Anwar Khan, Hafiz Khan, and Amir Khan. Police have arrested nine accused meanwhile search is on to nab others.

In the village, section 144 has been imposed and Police were also stationed in various areas. DIG Anand Chhabra along with SPs of Bemetara, Kawardha, Rajnandgaon and Durg have taken charge in the village. The collector of Bemetara is also present in the village. Mobile phone services have been stopped by the police in the village.

VHP calls bandh, demands president’s rule

In protest against the violence, Vishwa Hindu Parishad has called for a Chhattisgarh bandh tomorrow, 10th April. The VHP will also hand over a memorandum to the governor demanding President’s rule in the state. Addressing a press conference, VHP alleged that while more then 50 Muslims were involved in the killing of the Hindu youth, police have nabbed only a small number of people.
