Muslim cattle smugglers sport tilak and sacred thread to avoid detection, get caught by UP police: Reports

After a severe crackdown by the state machinery, it is now being alleged that Muslim cow smugglers are using Hindu religious symbols to protect themselves from getting caught while being involved in criminal activities like cow smuggling and slaughtering.

As reported by Patrika, two Muslim youth from Meerut have been arrested smuggling cows while faking their religion by wearing tilak and a sacred thread to avoid detection.

The Uttar Pradesh police caught these men on Gadina road when they were smuggling cows to the nearby Radhna village. The two, Salim and Mobin, were caught sporting sacred saffron threads, garments and also tilak on their forehead. After interrogation by the police, the smugglers have confessed to being Muslims and that they were smuggling cows for slaughter.

It is reported that, some Muslim cattle smugglers use this tactic of using Hindu sacred symbols for both avoiding police and the gau rakshaks. It is also alleged that the cow protection activists resort to self-defence when faced with severe and life-threatening threats from the cow smugglers.

Uttar Pradesh has enacted a law against slaughtering of cows, Bullocks and ox. It is illegal to store or to eat beef in the state. The cow slaughtering will be a criminal offense in the state, which may result in 7 years imprisonment and/or a fine or Rs. 10,000.

Christian intervenors and AIMPLB reject rights of homosexuals, want 377 to stay

Following the hearing on the constitutional validity of section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which criminalises consensual gay sex which started on 10th July, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPBL) and Christian intervenors have come out to take a stand against 377. Appealing to the central government, APMPBL asserted that homosexuality is a ‘sin in all religions’.

AIMPBL further said that a neutral stand by the government is against ‘religions, traditions and ethics’ of this country. In fact, the board further said that homosexuality is ‘injurious to human health’.

Not just AIMPLB, Christian associations have also come out in support of section 377. Advocate Manoj George appearing on behalf of two Christian associations criticised the government on the ‘u-turn’. He also said that the section 377 would go ‘if Your Lordship says that there is nothing called ‘order of nature’ with or without consent’. He further said that reading sex to include sexual orientation would leave space for uncertainty.

Rahul’s new 51 member CWC: Congress veterans out, only 7 women in the team including Sonia Gandhi

Congress party president Rahul Gandhi formed the first ever CWC- the highest decision-making body, after assuming charge of the party. While empowering himself, he dropped out many eminent Congress veterans out of the list constituting the CWC.

The new Congress Working Committee includes 23 members, 18 permanent invitees, and 10 special invitees.

Among those who are included in the Congress Working Committee are: Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Oommen Chandy, Tarun Gogoi, Siddararnaiah, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, Kumari Selja, Mukul Wasnik, Avinash Pande, KC Venugopal, Dipak Babaria, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Raghuveer Meena, Gaikhangarn and Ashok Gehlot.

Deepak Babaria, Jitendra Singh, Gaurav Gogoi, Randeep Surjewala, and Anugrah Narayan Singh are among the young generation leaders appointed as the state in charges.

The heads of five frontal organizations of the party – INTUC, Sewa Dal, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and NSUI – are part of the special invitees.

The changes, reports said, reflect Gandhi’s intent to expose the next generation of Congress leaders to deliberations in the party’s top panel but at the same time, retain the party veterans whose advice he is known to rely on.

On one hand, the party reportedly accepted that the need to retain the veterans was imperative, while on the other hand, some big-names including veterans like, senior Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Kamal Nath, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mohan Prakash and CP Joshi and Janardan Dwivedi were amongst those dropped out from the new list of CWC members.

Other prominent exclusions are Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who was earlier a permanent invitee to the body, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Himachal chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Oscar Fernandes and Mohsina Kidwai. However, Hooda’s son Deepender Singh has been made a special invitee.

The new inclusions being, Mukul Wasnik, Avinash Pande, KC Venugopal, Dipak Babaria, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Gaikhangam and Ashok Gehlot, who was also made party general secretaries.

The committee was dissolved prior to the election of the Congress president and the earlier panel was transformed into a steering committee till the party’s plenary session that ratified Rahul’s appointment as the party’s big boss, and concluded in March.

Interestingly, Rahul, who claims to stand for the women reservation bill, that firstly the Congress couldn’t pass for decades, has included only 7 women in the CWC. One out of the six being his mother.

The first meeting with the extended CWC will be held on 22nd July, where the new committee will discuss the parties future strategies.

2016 Haryana Jat agitation political conspiracy to topple BJP govt, Congress involved: CNN News18

Haryana was rocked by massive protests in February 2016 by the Jat community, which demanded reservations under the Other Backward Community (OBC) status.

These protests which were earlier said to be peaceful, soon escalated into violence which resulted in the deaths of 30 people in three days. The violent nature of the protests can be gauged by the fact that a mob burnt down the house of Haryana’s Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu. Reports have claimed that the mob comprising of hundreds of rioters, had even tried to burn his family members alive, besides looting articles worth crores from the premises.

It has been reported that the agitation which also spread to the other Northern States is estimated to have resulted in a total loss of Rs 34,000 crore.

Now in a sensational revelation by CNN News18, the news channel has claimed that the Jat agitation in Haryana was a pre-planned political conspiracy to topple the BJP government:

The report claims that there seemed a pre-planned conspiracy to attack Captain Abhimanyu’s house. It claimed that besides naming 40 people in the chargesheet pertaining to the matter, 11 additional names including that of Gaurav Hooda have been brought in.

Gaurav Hooda is incidentally the son of Congress leader Krishnamurti Hooda and is also claimed to be close to former Congress Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The report thus alleged that the Congress and Bhupinder Hooda were behind instigation the protesters.

The report claimed that these details are emerging thanks to an additional investigation by the CBI, which led to the additional 11 people being named in the chargesheet, and have been dubbed as the real perpetrators of the crime.

The Congress though has denied all these allegations.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam revokes decision, will allow darshan during Maha Samprokshanam

After widespread criticism over its decision to stop darshan during the 6 days of ‘Ashtabandhana Maha Samprokshanam,’ the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) management has finally agreed to allow darshan during the ritual from August 11 to 16. According to reports, the TTD management board has resolved to permit darshan to devotees in a small number and for a limited time.

Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal has reportedly informed that the TTD management has decided to keep aside 31 hours for devotees to have darshan of Lord Venkateshwara. According to approximate calculations, on August 11, the TTD board will have 9 hours for the ritual and 4 to 5 hours on the rest of the days. Singhal also appealed to all for cooperation and understanding.

According to reports, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu had intervened and spoke to TTD officials after its decision to stop darshan during the six-day period drew wide criticism on social media and from devotees all over the world. Even Vedic scholars and former chief priest Ramana Deekshitalu had criticised the move.

On July 14, TTD officials had announced after a meeting that the temple management will stop darshan for devotees from August 11 to 16 for the ritualistic performance of the ‘Ashta Bandhana Maha Samprokshanam’. The ritual is reportedly performed once in every 12 years and it was performed last in 2006. The ritual is scheduled to begin on August 11 with the ‘Ankurarpanam’. During the period, the temple priests hold sacrament rituals along with Shanti Homams.

Singhal has stated that the temple can provide darshan to 15,000 devotees per day during the six-day period. He has also stated that the temple board is open to suggestions from devotees. According to the TTD management, during the same week last year, 5.5 lakh devotees had visited the temple.

The announcement was severely criticised by devotees from all over. The Maha Samprokshanam is a purification ritual performed at the temple once in 12 years and darshan of the Lord Venkateshwara is not allowed during the commencement of the ritual.

After the decision not to close the temple for devotees and allow darshan in a limited capacity, the move has been welcomed by many.

Modi govt’s crackdown on D-company : Another Dawood property to be auctioned in Mumbai

Another one of Dawood Ibrahim’s properties is to be auctioned soon in Mumbai. According to reports, a building located in Pakmodia street, Bhindi Bazar, Mumbai is set to be auctioned on August 9. The auction will be held by the Ministry of Finance under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulator’s Act (SAFEMA). The reserve price of the building has reportedly been set at Rs 79.43 lakh.

This will reportedly be the fourth property belonging to fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim auctioned by the government of India. Previously, 3 of Dawood’s properties, namely Shabnam Guesthouse, Damarwala Building and Hotel Rounaq Afroz has been auctioned by the Ministry under the SAFEMA.

The building to be auctioned on August 9 is known as Masulla Building (C.S. No. 4275). Its located at 24/26 Pakmodia Street and reportedly belongs to Dawood’s family. The earnest money deposit for the auction is set at Rs 25 lakh which will be needed to be deposited by August 6th. E-auction, public auction and sealed tenders will be accepted and on 9th August the building will be auctioned at YB Chavan auditorium between 9-12 AM.

In a SAFEMA advertisement, a total of 9 properties located at Mumbai, Aurangabad, Valsad, Daman, Surat and Ahmedabad are reportedly being put for auction. Of these, only 1 property belongs to Dawood.

According to reports, the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) has bought the previous three properties of Dawood Ibrahim through SAFEMA. It had bought the 3 properties through the highest bid of 11.50 crores. Even this time around, the SBUT is expected to be the front-runner among the bidders. It is reported that the SAFEMA is expecting to earn around Rs 2 to 3 crores by this auction. The Masulla building has ground plus four stories and is in a considerably better condition than the previous buildings sold.

On April 20 this year, the Supreme Court of India had ordered the Indian government to seize all the properties belonging to the fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Dismissing a plea filed by Dawood’s family in Mumbai against the attachment of his properties, the apex court had ordered the Indian government to seize and sell all properties of the former mafia don who is one of the main accused in 1993 serial blasts case.

Dawood’s underworld enterprise, known as the D-company had acquired massive wealth in many countries including the middle east and UK. Members linked to his gang still run a number of illegal businesses in India and Pakistan. In April this year, an aide of Dawood was arrested for plotting to murder the Shia board chairman Wasim Rizvi. His associates are also involved in several betting and other such illegal businesses.

Sam Pitroda’s ‘temples don’t create jobs’ comment must be attributed to malice, because it can’t be ignorance

0

Recently, most liberal-left, neutral and pink papers carried an article on Sam Pitroda’s famous line “temples do not create jobs”, delivered to a group of impressionable minds in Karnavati University.

This, from Scroll, for example.

Even if one were swimming in the stratosphere, one would know the association that Pitroda has with the Congress. He was Rajiv Gandhi’s go-to man for all things IT. He has also served as an advisor to former PM Dr.Manmohan Singh. A cursory search on the net will reveal his American education (Illinois Institute of Technology) and his long-standing association with INC over decades.

So, it is fair to assume that Pitroda, unlike some others in Congress is not a bumbling idiot, fumbling his way through issues that he does not fully comprehend. Why then would he make such a factually erroneous economic statement. To justify its claim to obfuscation let us examine some statistics from across the world:

In the year 2017 the holy city of Jerusalem, received over 3.5 million Jews, Christians and Muslims. This was a 25% increase over 2016 tourist influx, contributing a record $5.5 billion to the Israeli economy. One naturally assumes that this inflow of tourists to Jerusalem year on year must have generated a plethora of jobs for the aviation, hospitality and the local tourist sector of the city. How many jobs must have been thus created? The tourism industry in Israel employs over 2 lakh people or 6% of the workforce of Israel.

As of 2013, the annual Haj event, which sees millions of followers of Islam descend on the holy city of Mecca, generated $16.5 billion or around 3% of Saudi Arabian GDP. This horde of tourists in all probability gave a huge fillip, over the years, to the local industries, air travel, hospitality to the location. One can only hazard a guess about the number of jobs and the cascading effect on the local economy of the region. Some estimates have suggested that the revenue generated through Haj pilgrim visit, related expenditure, will exceed $150 Billion by the year 2022.

Although not widely known, the Vatican City economy based on the contribution from Roman Catholics worldwide, the sale of mementoes, the sale of publications and tourist tickets for museum visits, generated a total revenue of $315 million in the year 2013. This earning is without taking into account the multiplier effect on the airline, hospitality sector for the Vatican.

Back home, in the year 2013, the world’s richest Tirupati Balaji temple in AP, received 206.8 million domestic tourists, pushing the state to the top of the tourist destination table.

As of 2012, tourism.com had estimated that world religious travel one of the fastest growing segments in travel, would double by the year 2020, making it one of the largest contributors of economic prosperity.

One can go on and on citing examples of thriving religious-tourism across the world, that has provided employment to large chunks of humanity, irrespective of their caste, creed and religious affiliations. Yet Mr Pitroda in all his bombastic righteousness has singled out that “Temples do not create jobs”.

We can assume that his denials have something to do with “Temples” and not religion-based tourism per say. In the backdrop of the Ram Temple deliberations, this remark can even be construed as a direct attack on the Ram temple. Coming after the recent Hindu-Pakistan, Congress for Muslims comments made by his colleagues in INC, should this remark be taken as a validation of the anti-Hindu, anti-Ram temple bigotry frequently displayed by the members of the Grand Old Party of India?

It is also intriguing that this statement by Sam Pitroda comes right after Rahul was reported to have been apologetic about his temple visits in a meeting of Muslim Intellectuals. One wonders if this is ‘damage control’ by the Congress considering their core vote bank is indeed, the minorities.

Watch: A maulana goes violent live on TV while debating on triple talaq, hits women

A self-proclaimed Islamic scholar who is also an alumnus of Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University [pdf], Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi lost his cool live on television while debating on the triple talaq bill and violently hit another panellist.

In the heat of the moment during the debate, it can be seen the maulana beat up a fellow panellist, Farah Faiz, one of the petitioners in the Supreme Court against triple talaq, and he had to be physically restrained from continuing to hit her.

In the video, it can be seen that the Maulana is hitting the woman and using abusive words against her. Maulana is also a member of All India Personal Law Board and former spokesperson of enthusiast Darul Uloom Deoband, which is best known for issuing ‘fatwas’ like CCTV cameras and dancing and music being un-Islamic.

Following the violence, Qasmi was taken into custody by the police from the studio for his behaviour.

Qasmi has been very vocal in his support of triple talaq and has said that triple talaq valid but the ‘misuse’ should not be allowed.

Khirki Extension case: Patiala House Court frames charges against Somnath Bharti

The Patiala House Court in Delhi has framed charges against AAP leader and former law minister of Delhi Somnath Bharti in the 2014 midnight raid case. According to reports, the court has fixed the dates of September 4 and 7 for recording the statements of witnesses in the case.

Somnath Bharti and 16 others are being charged under the allegations of molestation, assault, threat, promoting enmity and rioting. According to reports, the court had ordered to frame molestation charges against Bharti on June 30. Bharti and the other accused had allegedly assaulted a Ugandan woman in January 2014. The Patiala House Court has reportedly observed that there is sufficient prima facie case against the accused to frame charges and start legal proceedings.

Bharti will now face trial under the sections 147/149 (rioting), 354 (molestation), 354c (voyeurism), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506(outraging a woman’s modesty) and 186 (obstruction of public servants from discharging their duty) of the IPC.

A Ugandan woman had appealed to the court on January 18, 2014, alleging assault against unknown persons. An FIR was lodged by the Delhi Police on the woman’s complaint. The police charge sheet reportedly stated that Somnath Bharti and others had ‘raided’ a locality in Khirki Extension near Malviya Nagar on the midnight of 15th January and had assaulted the Ugandan woman who was staying in a rented accommodation.

It is notable here that Bharti is also facing charges of domestic abuse filed by his wife.

Chandrababu Naidu led TDP to bring in no-confidence motion against NDA, gets support of opposition parties

The Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party has officially announced its decision to bring in a no-confidence motion against the ruling NDA government.

As per a document accessed by MyNation, TDP MP Srinivas Kesineni has written a letter to Lok Sabha’s Secretary General, wherein he gave a notice to no-confidence motion under the rule 198(1) of “Rule of Procedures and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha:

Chandrababu Naidu led TDP to bring in a no-confidence motion, gets support of opposition parties
Copy of no confidence motion as accessed by My Nation

As seen in the above copy, the MP has requested the secretary-general to include the no-confidence motion under the revised list of businesses for 18 July.

A DNA report has claimed that Chandrababu Naidu has written to various opposition parties to seek the support for his no-confidence motion. The motivation for the motion is said to be what TDP considers as an injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh for non-deliverance of the promised special status to the state. Incidentally the same reason was also cited by the TDP when it withdrew from the NDA in March.

The DNA report also claimed that a no-confidence motion against the Modi government would be brought in by opposition parties on 18 July – which will mark the start of Parliament’s monsoon session. The session would go on till 10 August and would see 46 bills being taken up for discussion.

With regards to the TDP’s motion, as claimed by a News Minute report, a TDP delegation has been meeting various parties including BJP and Congress allies but has only managed to generate a lukewarm response. Some of the parties which are supposed to have supported the no-confidence motion include the Telugu Rashtra Samithi (TRS), DMK, CPM and NCP.

It is interesting to note that the TDP has chosen to go down the no-confidence motion path. Just after its withdrawal of support from the NDA, it had brought in another such motion which was not taken up by the Lok Sabha.
