BMC demolishes illegal extensions in BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha’s Mumbai residence

0

Following the Kamala Mills tragedy, Mumbai civic body BMC has gone on an overdrive demolishing illegal constructions. The latest one to face the same is actor and BJP MP from Patna Sahib in Bihar, Shatrughan Sinha. The BMC carried out the demolition drive at his Juhu residence following the complaints BMC has been receiving for Sinha’s residence ‘Ramayan’. As per reports, illegal construction was discovered at his eight-storey building in the suburbs of Mumbai. An office, a puja room, two toilets and a pantry were found in the refuge areas and a toilet in the terrace was illegal. Sinha, has reportedly been cooperative with the authorities.

BMC had received complaint against Sinha, following which notices were sent on 6th December, 2017 and 7th January 2018 before the demolition was carried out.

Earlier in 2016, actor Irrfan and Kapil Sharma had also faced BMC’s wrath for illegal construction in their apartments.

National anthem before movies – read how it became mandatory, and how it has now become optional

0

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that it is not mandatory for cinema halls to play the national anthem before every movie.

This ‘relaxation’ provided by the Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Dipak Misra was a result of the Modi government filing an affidavit before the court, requesting it to recall the order making national anthem mandatory, till an inter-ministerial panel finishes reviewing the rules. The decision to whether play the national anthem, now rests with the cinema hall owners.

Such a ruling might finally put to rest the circus which came to town, after the Supreme Court passed the order on 30th November, 2016 making the playing of national anthems mandatory before every movie screening.

This supreme court order was a result of a very interesting struggle by a private citizen named Shyam Narayan Chouksey, which began in early 2002 when he decided to head to a Bhopal cinema hall for watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

In that movie when Shahrukh Khan’s son was singing the national anthem, Chouksey decided to stand in respect, but to his shock people sitting behind him, objected and mocked him for blocking their view. Chouksey interpreted it as an insult to the national anthem, thus began his crusade.

He first approached the cinema hall’s manager to complain and when no action was taken, decided to stage a ‘satyagrah’ outside the theatre to create awareness among people, about the need to respect the national anthem. This too didn’t result in people standing for it, thus he went to the local administration, state police, and finally to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The MP High Court incredibly decided to ban the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam itself, and ordered its producers to delete the national anthem scene as according to the court, people were unknowingly disrespecting it by not standing up. They were also asked to pay Chouksey’s legal expenses. The producers as a result rushed to the Supreme Court which set aside this order.

Chouksey though wasn’t willing to give up and kept knocking on the doors of justice. He also upped the ante by adding to his petition, scenarios like television shows and events where there could be disrespect to the national anthem.

In October 2016, he finally managed to get the Supreme Court to issue notice to the union government regarding this matter, and his efforts attained fruition on the ‘historic’ day of 30th November, 2016, when the Supreme Court declared that playing national anthem before every movie was mandatory and people will have to stand up in respect.

In this, the court incidentally ordered that “all present” must stand up in respect till the national anthem ended. This terminology created a problem for differently abled persons like wheelchair users and those with other special needs.

Soon the Supreme Court thankfully modified its order where differently abled persons falling under Section 2(i) and 2(t) of the Disability Act, 1995, were exempt from standing up for the national anthem. Things though were being taken so ‘sincerely’ that the attorney general informed the court that the Central government would issue guidelines regarding how differently abled persons shall show respect to the national anthem.

To much outrage, the guidelines were indeed issued, which included asking those with disability to position themselves to the extent of maximum alertness and attentiveness with or without appropriate aids, during the course of the anthem.

On October 23rd, there was an indication that this order was not going to last long, after differences had emerged between Justice Dipak Misra and Justice D Y Chandrachud regarding this matter, with the latter commenting that, “one need not wear patriotism on his sleeve”.

Eventually the ball was thrown into the centre’s court and the Modi government, many might agree, did the sensible thing by filing an affidavit calling for a withdrawal of the order till an inter-ministerial committee, which it decided to constitute, comes up with its findings within the next six months.

This committee would be headed by the additional secretary (border management), part of the Home Ministry and would also consist of representatives from defence ministry, external affairs ministry, ministry of culture, child and women development ministry and the ministry of parliamentary affairs.

Now that the playing of the national anthem is as good as optional, it remains to be seen whether Chouksey would enter the battle field once again to fight against this setback to his crusade.

Pakistani leader’s daughter exposes how Pak Army ‘tutors’ youth on Kashmir

0

Pakistani leader Shireen Mazari’s daughter, Imaan Hazir Mazari, in a series of tweets, has accused Pakistani Army of tutoring the youth to show their stand on Kashmir. She accused the Army of trying to dictate what should go on their social media account.

She claims she never posted these tweets as suggested by Pakistani Army, because she felt something didn’t seem right. She goes on to explain how she reached out to Pakistani Army to help them with conducting research on Kashmir, a topic close to her heart.

She then accuses the Pakistani Army of trying to tutor her with a script which she should stick to.

She then claims how Pakistani Army is ‘feeding’ information to journalists which is lapped up by journalists to feel ‘important’.

One wonders then if these tactics are also used on some journalists functioning in India, considering the spate of anti India news and editorials recently. She further accuses the Pakistani Army of launching a coordinated attack on the dissenters. She accuses them of using these tactics to silence people for years. She even claimed how she was sent threats and inappropriate messages in a bid to get her to shut up.

She then appeals to others to realise that these campaigns are endangering their lives and asks them to not let the Army to bully them into silence.

This is not the first time Hazari has taken to social media to voice her dissent against the Pakistani Army. In November, 2017, she had posted a video criticising the Pakistani Army for the Faizabad sit-in and the aftermath of a botched operation by the federal government. Her mother Shireen, who serves as a chief whip for Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, had distanced herself from her daughter’s outburst.

Reports allege loopholes in victim’s allegations against Haryana BJP chief’s son in stalking case

0

In August 2017, Varnika Kundu a Chandigarh based DJ had alleged that Vikas Barala, the son of BJP Haryana chief Subhash Barala had stalked her while she was driving home.

She had alleged that Barala and his friend were drunk and were trying to dangerously swerve their car towards her. Further they allegedly blocked her car and later, one of them even got out of their car and started to walk towards her.

Around that time, she dialled 100 in panic and sensing the urgency in her voice, a PCR van came and nabbed the accused. Kundu later took to Facebook to recount her horror which caused a major outrage and a demand to punish Barala and his friend.

Soon after the incident there were allegations of a cover-up, like certain charges slapped against the accused getting dropped to facilitate their bail. It was reported, that the victim’s plea about it being a possible kidnapping was ignored. It was also alleged that some CCTV footage had not been collected, possibly deliberately. It later emerged that some of the CCTV footage wasn’t available since the cameras were non functional and there was no cover up, per police.

A few days later, it was reported that Vikas Barala had allegedly confessed before the Chandigarh police that he was following Kundu’s car.

Now in a possible twist in the tale, reports have come out to allege that there are certain loopholes in the victim’s allegations.

As reported, call records of Kundu contradict the original statement given by her to the court. As per that, she had reached sector 8’s inner market in Chandigarh at 11.40 pm on August 4, but her call records allegedly point towards her being in Chamkaur Sahib, Ropar at 11:23 PM, about an hour before the incident . This region is 50 KM away from Chandigarh. Her location at 12:33 AM the next day, showed Sector 26, Chandigarh.

This contradiction in the location has been alleged by the defence lawyer, who is seen trying to discredit parts of her testimony. This allegation has been denied by Kundu.

The lawyer has also alleged that Kundu wasn’t present in the police station, during the filing of the complaint and that her father, an IAS officer had written it and had forged her signature at the end.

It remains to be seen what is the result of such revelations and whether further details might emerge in the matter

Leftists lie about Jignesh Mevani’s Yuva Hunkar Rally in Delhi: Here is the truth

Despite Delhi Police’s refusal to grant permission to hold the ‘Yuva Hunkar Rally’ in Delhi, Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani, who has been accused of instigating riots, freelance protestor Shehla Rashid and others have defied police orders to conduct the rally. Despite Delhi Police’s explicit refusal to grant permission to hold the rally, the Shehla Rashid and gang are blatantly lying on social media of having granted the permission.

The ‘social justice’ rally is allegedly being held to demand release of Dalit outfit Bhim Army, Chandrashekhar Azad, who was arrested last year in June for being the main accused in Thakur-Dalit clash in Himachal Pradesh.

The Delhi Police, however, has clearly denied permission for the rally to be held.

The Police says that they have offered an alternate venue for the rally, but the organisers were reluctant to go there, reasons of which are not known.

Despite the clear statement by Delhi Police, Shehla Rashid, arrogantly said that the rally will be conducted at Parliament Street only. She had once claimed that since she is a Muslim, she doesn’t lie even though she has a history of lying and today, she has been caught lying yet again.

What stands out is, how confused the entire gang looks, swinging between “we have permission” and “it’s wrong to not give us permission”.

Earlier, Prashant Bhushan had quoted a tweet by Shehla that said that they had met the Delhi Police twice and they had got clear permission to go ahead with the rally, and that the media was running “fake news” by saying that no permission was granted for the “Yuva Rally”.

Funnily enough, today after Delhi Police clarified that Shehla and gang were perhaps lying and no permission was granted to them for the rally, Prashant himself changed goalposts and said that “it would be undemocratic” of the police to stop the gang from protesting which is their “fundamental right”.

One wonders, if indeed the Delhi Police had granted permission, why has Shehla, Bhushan or anyone of their comrades not produced any evidence to back their claim. In fact, as if in sync, they have all changed their line of argument to the usual “this is my right, police can’t stop us”, instead of saying “Delhi police is backtracking after giving permission”, which further raises the suspicion if any permission was granted in the first place.

The central issue here seems to be not only the blatant defiance of police orders, but also the lies that surrounded this rally. These career protesters have not been able to prove that the Delhi police granted permission, and now, the usual cacophony of “state is trampling our fundamental rights” has gathered momentum to distract people from the fact that the demonstration seems to be going ahead without police permission.

Shehla however, is not new to such shenanigans.

Earlier Shehla had no proof for a tweet she claimed was tweeted to her during demonetisation.

She has also lied and accused JNU administration of restricting student access to ‘filtered’ content from YouTube.

Through this entire fiasco, none of them are claiming that the Delhi Police has backed off from granting the permission. Once their lies were caught, the gang started claiming that police can’t deny permission. While it is interesting to note how these elements have indicted themselves in the tangled web of lies, it is also worrying how police orders are being defied blatantly with scant regard for law and order.

RSS comes up with an action plan to smooth over caste fault lines

0

Recently parts of Maharashtra were rocked with caste violence, as a result of the 200th celebrations of British victory over Peshwas, which is spun by ‘alternate historians’ as a victory of Dalits over Brahmins.

The 200th celebratory event in Bhima Koregaon, Maharashtra, which contained invitees like controversial Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani and anti-national sloganeer Umar Khalid, was marred with violence, in which at-least 75 cars were battered and one person died.

The violence which was initially confined to regions in Pune district, soon spilled over to Mumbai, with protesters damaging many buses and disrupting road, rail traffic. In the resulting action by the administration, at least 100 protesters were detained in the Maharashtra capital.

It was alleged that Jignesh Mevani was also involved in this whole affair, after Republic TV aired a clip which showed him inciting people. As reported, he was saying that the discussion should be held in state assemblies as well as in Parliament, but the battle will be on the streets.

Now in order to quell such caste based conflicts, the RSS has come up with a draft action plan to contain caste fault lines.

This plan was brought forth after a series of meetings, where the top Sangh brass brainstormed upon ways to combat the growing unrest among Dalits. RSS as a result will be reaching out to the Dalits and stop the caste fault lines from widening. RSS during this process has also held meetings with Dalit representatives to drive home the point about Hindu unity.

In order to achieve that, the RSS would be distributing old speeches of erstwhile Sangh leaders, which will refer to their calls for ending caste based discrimination. The RSS has been blaming communists and ultra-left sympathisers for stoking caste clashes.

The BJP too has reportedly been asked to counter these caste fault lines by aggressively pushing the “development for all” agenda.

It remains to be seen how effective this plan turns out to be, and whether we can witness further caste homogeneity in the coming years.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal blames LG appointed ‘useless’ officer for 44 deaths due to cold in Delhi

0

Even as death toll of the homeless due to severe cold reaches 44 in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has washed hands of all the responsibility and pinned the blame on Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal for ‘appointing a useless officer’.

This statement of Kejriwal comes hours after their Rajya Sabha nominee Sanjay Singh shrugged off the responsibilities by indulging in whataboutery and making outrageous remark that people are dying in Jharkhand as well.

Shockingly, while Kejriwal tried to pass the buck on to DUSIB (Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board) CEO, he forgot that he himself is the Chairperson of the Board as Chief Minister.

Soon, Twitter users slammed Kejriwal for indulging in playing politics over deaths of innocent.

Delhi BJP spokesperson, Tajinder Bagga even requested Kejriwal to put politics aside to help save lives of the homeless in the bitter cold.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi Marlena implied that the deaths of the homeless is not due to the cold.

Politics aside, the coldheartedness of Aam Aadmi Party leaders in this bitter cold is shocking.

Four cricketers arrested in Kashmir for playing the Pakistani national anthem ahead of a game

0

Two cricket teams have been booked by the police after they decided to play and stand for the Pakistani national anthem ahead of a cricket match. Apart from booking the teams, four cricketers have also been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police, in connection with the incident.

This incident has been reported from the Bandipora district in North Kashmir. The cricket match in connection, was the final of a local tournament between MCC, Gondipora and Dardpora Cricket Club, which supposedly took place on 3rd January.

The action comes after a video of the proceedings went viral on social media. In this video, the teams are seen standing upright, while wearing green and white jerseys respectively as “Pakistan sarzameen” played in the background.

Apart from arresting these four cricketers, an enquiry has been initiated to identify the organisers and other cricketers. The police have also supposedly got in touch with the village elders, asking them to stop these youngsters from participating in such activities, in the future.

In April 2017, a similar incident had come to light from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, where players from one team were wearing Pakistani jerseys, and were standing with their hands on their heart, while the Pakistani national anthem played.

It was also noted that fireworks had erupted in Kashmir, areas adjoining the Aligarh Muslim University after India lost the Champions Trophy to Pakistan in June, 2017. Some youths in Srinagar, apart from bursting crackers, also flurried Pakistani flags and even chanted anti-India slogans. They even threw stones at various security posts after which the authorities had to use tear gas to disperse them.

Pakistani accessories like cricket jerseys, have also been seen in different parts of the country, during other controversial circumstances.

We had reported how Pakistan Zindabad slogans were chanted during Muharram processions in UP and Bihar. During the procession in Bihar, some youths were seen wearing t-shirts similar to Pakistan’s cricket team jersey.

This PhD ‘scholar’ from Aligarh Muslim University is reported to be a terrorist with Hizbul Mujahideen

0

Mannan Wani, a research scholar from Kupwara in Jammu & Kashmir, who was studying applied geology at Aligarh Muslim University, has reportedly joined the terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. In a photograph that has gone viral on social media, Wani appears to be holding a gun with a message ‘Mannan Wani, son of Bashir Ahmed Wani, joined Mujahideen on January 5’. His father is reportedly a lecturer and his brother a junior engineer working in the J&K government.

Wani, 26, was pursuing a PhD on ‘Structural and Geo-Morphological Study of Lolab Valley, Kashmir’. According to AMU website, he received an award for the best paper presented at an international conference on ‘Water, Environment, Ecology and Society’ in 2016.

Meanwhile, support for Wani has poured in on social media from the usual elements from Kashmir and Pakistan wishing Wani success in his ‘mission’.

Many even compared him to Burhan Wani, another Mujahideen terrorist, who was neutralised by security forces in 2016. Wani was also son of a school teacher.

Reportedly, he was ‘harassed’ by security forces back in November, 2017 when he was on his way to Srinagar. In a chilling update on Facebook, the profile has since been removed, Wani had written, “On this disgusting day, the best moment happened when I got a compliment from the Indian Army officer (who also checked my identity card, but spared me from getting down from the car) about my looks resembling the famous Commander, who has given them sleepless nights, and me passing a gentle smile without uttering a single word.”

AMU has since suspended him and an investigation is underway. Police has raided his room at AMU and it is believed that suspicious material has been found from his room. His family, on the other hand, say they are unaware of such step. They say they have not heard from Wani from 4th January since his phone has since been switched off. They have lodged a missing report with Police on Saturday.

According to police, Wani’s last known location was in Delhi.

Karnataka Congress’ attempt to attack Yogi Adityanath massively backfires

0

The state of Karnataka is all set to go to polls this year, and being one of the final Congress ruled states, it is expected that the elections will be a battle where each side gives their all. Here, the Congress would be desperately trying to maintain its relevance in national politics, and the BJP in turn might push towards trying and realising its “Congress mukt bharat” dream.

One of the main forces deployed by the BJP to ensure that is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Yogi has already been addressing packed rallies in the state, which included a rally in Hubbali where he made a strong statement about the Congress worshipping Tipu Suptan instead of Hanuman and Vijayanagar.

Possibly unnerved by Yogi’s posture, the official twitter account of Karnataka Congress, put out a tweet yesterday, attacking Yogi using some NCRB data:

As seen above, the Congress’ tweet decided to portray a dismal governance record of the state contributing to 14.5% of all crimes against women and 12.4% of rape cases in the country.

Though, there was a slight problem with the data. These NCRB figures actually date back to 2016 when Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party was in power, who incidentally became an ally of the Congress during the 2017 Assembly elections in the state. Yogi only came to power in Uttar Pradesh, in March of 2017.

Incidentally during the UP election campaign, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had praised Akhilesh Yadav, which raises the question as to why was the party not revolted with the aforementioned data, during its ‘romance’ with the Samajwadi Party.

The twitter account of BJP Karnataka, soon picked up this angle and attacked the Congress:

Twitter users too chided the Congress:

Yogi Adityanath later came up with a smooth reply:

After such a glaring self goal, it remains to be seen whether, the Congress would be more careful in its future attacks.
