Former Australian High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell slams ABC’s report against India co-authored by Avani Dias, calls it attempt to damage India-Australia ties

On Sunday (16th June), the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) News carried out yet another hitjob on India where it accused the Modi government of planning to assassinate Khalistanis residing in Australia. One of the propagandists at the helm of this targeted disinformation campaign happened to be Avani Dias, who had previously lied about her visa being cancelled by the Indian government.

Now, reacting to that report on ABC, former Australian High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell has expressed his disappointment and underlined how this is an attempt to undermine India-Australia relationship.

Speaking to IndianLink, O’Farrell said, “The ABC’s charter is that it should be fair and objective, and for its journalists to uphold those standards. The concern I have is potential damage to the Australia-India relationship through such a program.”

He further said, “The report was disappointing, because it seemed essentially like it was a conga line of criticisms without an attempt to enable viewers to decide on the issues presented, be it communalism, Khalistan, or the Canadian and American allegations.”

The former High Commissioner further said, “Australia clearly has a different view to Canada, which prefers to use megaphones to communicate with India, and we all know that that doesn’t work. Australia continues to bring its values to its engagements with India.”

O’Farrell further said, “Almost a year on from the allegations first made by Prime Minister Trudeau (regarding Khalistani terrorist Nijjar’s death), we’ve seen no court action in Canada, [and] to the best of my knowledge, we’ve seen no court action in the United States.”

The former High Commissioner added that to suggest that the reasons Indians are getting involved in Australian politics are for self-advancement or to influence the Australian government’s relation with India is a complete slur against citizens who are entrepreneurial and peaceful.

Barry O’Farrell’s remarks come in response to the article in Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) titled – Narendra Modi’s Indian government and its allies accused of spying, silencing Sikh critics and pushing its far-right ideology in Australia.

A 45-minute-long documentary was also released on Monday (17th June) on the same subject.

In their report, ABC News claimed that the death threats from Indian authorities have forced Khalistanis in Australia to stop their ‘political work’ – a term meant to downplay the extremist motives to secede the Indian State of Punjab from the Union of India.

Arrested NEET candidate from Bihar confirms paper leak, says it matched with the actual exam question paper, details

On Thursday, 20th June, Anurag Yadav, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) candidate from Bihar apprehended in connection with the result discrepancies, confirmed that the leaked question paper handed to him corresponded to the actual exam questions.

The 22-year-old Yadav, the nephew of an engineer stationed at Bihar’s Danapur Town Council (Danapur Nagar Parishad) submitted his confession letter to the police and said that his relative Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu had informed him that all exam arrangements had been accomplished.

Yadav additionally claimed to have received the leaked NEET test question paper and answers.

When he took the exam and received the actual question paper, it matched the one provided by his uncle, according to the student’s letter.

Yadav signed his confession letter. India Today reportedly accessed a confessional statement from Yadavendu as well as other documents exposing the alleged participation of a ‘Mantri Ji’, who allegedly proposed that Yadav, his mother, and other conspirators stay at a government house in Patna.

Meanwhile, the Union Education Ministry has demanded a report from the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit over alleged anomalies in the conduct of the NEET exam in Patna.

There have been reports of question paper leaks in places such as Bihar, as well as additional issues in the valued exam. The charges have sparked demonstrations in various locations, as well as petitions filed in several high courts also the Supreme Court.

The saga began on 4th June after the National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of the recently conducted NEET UG-24 exams.

A plea was filed against the NTA stating that grace marks were awarded to 1563 students who appeared for the NEET exam on May 5th. As per the plea, these grace marks aided some of the students to secure top ranks, also scoring 718 or 719 out of 720 which is technically impossible, given the negative marking system. Further around 67 students are said to have scored 720/720. The plea demanded a thorough investigation of the case, risking the futures of around 24 lakhs who appeared for the exam across 4750 centers in India.

Notably, on 13th June, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that it had canceled the decision to award grace marks to 1563 candidates who appeared for NEET UG-2024. The Centre also said that these 1563 students had the option to appear for a re-test or go ahead without the grace marks, which will be held on 23 June.

Several petitions have been filed to the SC claiming paper leaks and a significant increase in high scores. The NTA had earlier stated that no papers were leaked.

“Regarding certain irregularities alleged in the conduct of the examination in Patna, a detailed report has been sought from the Economic Offences Unit, Bihar Police. The government will take further action on receipt of this report,” a senior official of the ministry was quoted as saying by India Today.

“The government is committed to ensuring the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interests of students. It is reiterated that any individual or organization found involved in this matter will face the strictest action,” the official added.

Singapore: ‘Deity’ Woo Mae Hoe jailed for 10 years for running a cult in the name of Sri Sakthi Narayani Amma, looted her followers, forced them to eat faeces

On Wednesday, June 19, a claimed spiritual leader in Singapore was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison. This is after she duped her followers into giving her more than $7 million and forced some of them to eat human faeces.

Woo May Hoe, who claimed to be a ‘deity’ and had approximately 30 followers, pleaded guilty in May to three counts of assault and two cheating charges. During the sentencing hearing, 45 further charges were considered. According to the reports, the 54-year-old Singaporean oversaw a group that believed in spiritual leader Sri Sakthi Narayani Amma. Amma’s identity was not disclosed in court.

She promised her supporters that the money would go to Amma’s community in India. However, Woo kept the money to herself from 2012 to 2020. In previous hearings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Grace Chua informed the court that many of Woo’s followers and relatives were suffering from terrible medical ailments.

According to Woo, her followers needed to eliminate their “bad karma” and enhance their “good karma” to improve their health and that of their loved ones. She informed them that they might do so by making contributions to Amma’s community in India.

She also directed people to engage in acts of “worship” by purchasing houses, condominium units, and automobiles, all of which she utilized for her own gain. Woo also directed roughly one-third of her followers to move in with her. They had to serve her full-time and meet all of her demands, including performing housework.

According to DPP Chua, Woo punished followers who displeased her by striking them with various objects such as paint brushes and canes, as well as “stabbing them with scissors, using pliers to pull out their teeth, forcing them to consume human feces, and making them jump off a height.”

Among those Woo punished was a 43-year-old woman, who was identified in court documents as V2. Woo became enraged with her in 2019 regarding an unexplained topic and took a bundle of five canes, repeatedly beating V2 in the head and face. She then instructed V2 to wash an injured eye with “holy water” and look straight at the sun.

The victim did as instructed and did not seek emergency medical assistance, as Woo had forbidden her from doing so. V2 now requires lifelong monitoring for suspected glaucoma or damage to the optic nerve that connects the eye to the brain.

Woo became unhappy with V2 in October 2019 after discovering that the latter had borrowed $100 from an associate without informing her.

She instructed V2 to jump from the second floor of a building to the first floor. The victim did as she was advised and fractured both ankles. Between March and April 2020, Woo discovered that V2 had visited her mother without her knowledge.

Woo then instructed another follower, identified as V3, to use pliers to remove three of V2’s teeth. V3 followed the instructions out of fear of being punished the same way.

Separately, Woo directed numerous additional followers to consume human excrement. She was jailed in 2020 after several followers filed police reports against her. According to the DPP, Woo was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the offense. However, an Institute of Mental Health specialist discovered no connection between Woo’s mental health and her cheating offenses.

Between 2012 and 2020, she directly conned her followers out of $7 million (US$5.2 million). She duped them into taking out an additional $6.6 million in loans from financial institutions. She has since paid a reparation of $675,000.

IIT Bombay imposes Rs 1.2 lakh fine on students who performed derogatory ‘Raahovan’ play, mocked Lord Ram and Maa Sita

Following a two-month investigation into complaints regarding a play titled “Raahovan” performed on the IIT Bombay campus, the institution’s administration has penalised the participating students, with fines of up to Rs 1.2 lakh. Notably, the play titled “Raahovan” which was an alleged Ramayana adaption, was presented on the 31st of March as part of the Performing Arts Festival of the leading engineering institute.

As per a Swarajya report, a notice was sent to an undergraduate engineering student nearly two weeks ago by the IIT-Bombay registrar.

“A Disciplinary Action Committee meeting was held on 08/05/2024 to look into the complaint regarding the play ‘Raahovan’ performed during Performing Arts Festival (PAF) on 31/03/2024. Mr xxxx Roll number xxxx was involved directly in executing the play,” the notice read.

The notification ordered that the student pay a fine of Rs 1.2 lakh by July 30. He is barred from receiving any honour from the “Gymkhana Awards.” Students in the disciplines of academics, athletics, and culture are honoured with these honours at the institute. The notification has been addressed to the Dean and Head of the Mathematics Department in addition to the student’s parents.

One of the complainants, a PhD student told Swarajya that eight students involved in the matter were issued penalty notices. Raising concerns over the institution’s alleged lack of transparency, the complainant said, “Complainants like me made rounds of the registrar’s office several times but were provided no information. Then finally, the registrar’s office shared just this one notice as the concerned student is graduating next month.”

The complainants were informed by the registrar’s office that the penalty assessed to those who will graduate next month is higher than that imposed on those who will continue their engineering studies. The play’s participants have not been asked to offer an apology, which has angered the complainants with the course of action taken so far. Meanwhile, some of the complainants are planning to write to Air India, which hired the play’s writer and director.

As OpIndia reported earlier, a group of students studying at IIT Bombay campus in Mumbai attempted to insult Lord Rama and Goddess Sita under the guise of ‘freedom of expression and creativity’. The incident is said to have happened during the Performing Arts Festival (PAF) conducted on March 31st at IIT Bombay’s Open Air Theatre (OAT). A group of students staged a play titled ‘Raahovan’ and made disrespectful remarks about Lord Rama and also about Hinduism.

The students scripted the play in a derogatory manner and displayed utter vulgarity through the acts and dialogues. Several videos of the play are making rounds on social media in which the vulgarity displayed in the play can be easily noticed. The performance, allegedly ‘inspired’ by the Ramayana, depicted Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshman deploying vulgar conversation and acting. Furthermore, the play made derogatory insinuations about Hindu beliefs and faith.

Lord Ram was also dubbed as a ‘devil’ as he was seen physically abusing Maa Sita in the play. The sequence between Goddess Sita, Lord Ram, and Laxman featured inappropriate language and gestures.

Meer Faisal, whose account was withheld in India, comes back with a new ID, starts spreading hate against Hindus with fake news

Self-proclaimed journalist Meer Faisal, whose previous account was withheld in India, is back with a new account to peddle fake news on social media. On 19th June, he published two posts on X with misleading information claiming Muslims were attacked by Hindus in Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) and Nahan (Himachal Pradesh).

Aligarh: Meer Faisal hid information about Muslim man entering house allegedly with intension of theft in Aligarh

In a post on X, Faisal wrote, “A Muslim man was lynched by a Hindutva mob in Aligarh, UP. The accused were then taken into custody by the district administration and sent to jail. All Hindu organizations are now gathering, chanting anti-police slogans, and closing the marketplaces in protest of the arrest.”

Meer Faisal shared misleading post on X about Muslim man’s death in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Source:X

The information was factually misleading and lacked one important aspect the deceased, identified as Aurangzeb, allegedly entered the house of a Hindu family with the intention of theft. He was caught by the Hindu family members during the act. The Hindu family members and other locals beat Aurangzeb up before handing over to the police. He succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.

In a statement issued by Aligarh police, SSP Aligarh, Sanjay Suman, said that the police got information about a thief caught by locals in the Gandhi Park Police Station area. The police reached the spot immediately. It was revealed that a Muslim man entered the house of a Hindu family with the intention of theft. The family members and some locals caught him and beat him up. The police rushed him to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“Following the incident, additional police force was deployed in the area and senior police officials took charge of the situation,” he said. SSP added that the body was handed over to the family on 19th June and the last rites were performed at 2 PM. There was some tension between Hindu and Muslim communities. “Several media houses are claiming that there were incidents of stone pelting but those reports are false. No incident of stone pelting took place anywhere in Aligarh. The situation is under control. The police have taken stock of the demands of both sides and appropriate action is taking in the matter,” SSP Suman said.

Himachal Pradesh: Meer Faisal hid fact about Javed that he posted images slaughtering cow

In another post on 19th June, Faisal wrote, “In Himachal, a Hindutva mob attacked the Muslim man’s shop in front of the police, looting and vandalizing it after he shared a picture of an animal sacrifice on his WhatsApp status.” He also shared a video of Javed’s garment shop being vandalised in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh. However, he completely skipped the fact that Javed provoked Hindus in Nahan by publishing images of slaughtering cows on Bakrid.

In his tweet, Meer Faisal mentioned that the accused had shared an image of “Animal sacrifice” on his Whatsapp, because of which, a “Hindutva mob” attacked his shop. In this tweet itself, Meer Faisal purposely did not disclose that the Hindus believed the animal being slaughtered was a cow, because of which they vandalized his shop. Cow slaughter is banned in the state and the cow itself holds great religious significance to Hindus.

By terming it merely an image of “animal sacrifice” and the Hindus protesting as a “Hindutva mob”, Meer Faisal hid the material fact to give the impression that the Hindus who were protesting as purposefully and needlessly violent. He seems to have wanted to project that the outraged community was driven purely by their hatred for the accused, owing to his Muslim religious identity, instead of informing readers that the Hindus were outraged specifically because they believed the animal being sacrificed to be a cow.

Meer Faisal should have used a picture of the ‘alleged cow slaughter’. It is also noteworthy that animal slaughter is literally intrinsic to Bakrid and no Muslim has been beaten up for that, so the use of ‘animal slaughter’ instead of ‘alleged cow slaughter’ was meant to suggest that a Muslim was beaten up for practicing his religion rather than indulging in a banned act that Hindus deem provocative

On 19th June, Javed allegedly slaughtered a cow on the occasion of Bakrid. Javed, originally from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, has been operating a ready-made garments shop in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, for the past 1.5 years. He shared pictures of an animal sacrifice on his WhatsApp status. In the image, he is seen smiling and standing with a knife close to a slaughtered animal, with other people in the background.

Hindu groups protested and called for action when they arrived at Javed’s garments shop in Nahan. Furthermore, they stated that Javed should never again be permitted to work in Nahan. There are rumors that some participants in this rally turned violent. In Nahan, a rally has also been planned by Hindu organizations.

Since the incident, Javed has absconded from Nahan, and the police are searching for him. Hindu organizations have also reported this to the police in a complaint. In this case, OpIndia was informed by the Nahan police station’s SHO that Javed most likely did not slaughter the cow in Nahan and had done it in Saharanpur. It is notable here that cow slaughter is illegal in India. Beef in the Indian context means only buffalo meat.

Meer Faisal, fake news and Voice of Khurasan

Faisal’s previous account meerfaisal01 was withheld in India. His new ID on X is meerfaisal001. The new account was created and verified on X in November 2023. In his pinned post from 20th November 2023, Faisal pointed out that his old account was withheld and informed everyone about the new handle.

Meer Faisal has a long history of sharing fake posts and making inflammatory, misleading social media posts. His posts were used by the ISIS-backed magazine Voice of Khurasan to peddle fake news in August 2023. In the 28th issue of Voice of Khurasan, ISIS spewed venom against Hindus, specifically in the backdrop of Nuh violence unleashed on the Hindus during the shobha yatra. They called for killing Hindus, burning their homes, shops and crops, and destroying idols of Hindu Gods in the name of Islam. In the article, the magazine quoted three posts from Faisal that were shared on 30th July, the day of Nuh violence, where a Muslim mob attacked Hindu devotees who participated in Shobhayatra.

Update: The earlier version of the article assumed that what Meer had hidden would be obvious to the readers, but the copy is being edited to explain why he intended to hide crucial information in an attempt to paint an outraged community as purposefully violent. It is pertinent to also note that two days after this article was published, the police claimed that the animal that the accused had sacrificed could have been a buffalo and not a cow. However, this ex-post-facto information does not change the fact that when the incident took place, it was believed that the animal was a cow and Meer Faisal seems to have deliberately hidden that detail to demonize the protesting Hindus.

‘You’re a Hindu, I married you only for money’: Mohd Armaan harasses differently abled Hindu woman after Nikah, family joins in abuse and assault

In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, Mohammad Arman converted a handicapped Hindu girl to Islam, did Nikah with her and then left her demanding dowry. Money and jewels belonging to the victim were also taken by the accused. The victim was molested by her father-in-law Irfan, and she was beaten by her mother-in-law and sister-in-laws. On June 17th June, the police began an investigation after registering an FIR against five of the accused.

The incident occurred in the Bhojipura police station precinct. The woman stated in the complaint on 17th June that she is disabled with one leg and was compensated for the accident with Rs 7 lakh. Mohammad Arman, a Jadopur, Bareilly resident,  promised to marry the victim with the intent to usurp the money she received. Accused Armaan convinced the victim to convert to Islam.

The victim, who fell prey to the accused Arman, converted to Islam, gave up her Hindu identity, and changed her name to Zoya. She married Arman on the 30th of March this year and went to his home. Armaan lured the victim and swindled Rs 3 lakh from her in a matter of days. Afterwards, he began to coerce the girl into giving him the remaining Rs 4 lakh that she had received as compensation.

Mohammad Arman threatened to take divorce from the victim when she refused to give him the remaining money. Meanwhile, the victim was harassed by her mother-in-law Shahana, father-in-law Irfan, and sisters-in-law Sanno and Farana. They all also started talking about getting Mohammad Arman married somewhere else for Rs 5 lakh. Due to this, the victim gave an additional 75,000 rupees to her father-in-law Irfan.

According to a copy of the FIR obtained by OpIndia, the accused’s attitude remained the same even after taking the money. The girl was still subjected to mental and physical abuse. The victim was told by Muhammad Arman, “You are a Hindu. I married you out of greed.” Following this, every accused attempted to seize the victim’s original Nikah-related documents from her.

The victim was mistreated and severely beaten when she refused. Irfan, the victim’s father-in-law, held her hand on 10th June, with malevolent intent. The victim somehow managed to save herself. She was severely beaten by her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and husband when they heard her scream. On the next day, the accused snatched all of her documents, Rs 23,000 cash and jewellery.

They then threw the girl out of the house and battered her. At last, the victim filed a complaint at the police station. The accused spouse Armaan, the father-in-law Irfan, the mother-in-law Shahana, and the sisters-in-law Sanno and Farana were all named in the FIR registered by the police. The FIR against the accused has been filed under sections 498A, 323, 504, 354 (a), and 506 of the IPC, in addition to the Dowry Act and the Conversion Prevention Act.

Nine major Indian ports, 4 of which have been developed by Adani Ports, ranked in the Global top 100 by World Bank

In a major boost to India’s infrastructure development initiative, nine ports, 4 of which were developed by the Adani group, have made it to the Global Top 100 in the most recent edition of the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), 2023, a report prepared by the World Bank and S&P Global Marketing Intelligence.

According to a statement issued by the Indian government, the Visakhapatnam Port not only made it to the top 20 ports of the World in 2023 but also improved significantly from 115 in 2022 to 19 in 2023, marking another first for India. In the latest ranking, Mundra Port has also risen the index, moving up from 48 last year to 27.

Meanwhile, seven other Indian ports, which secured ranks in the top 100, are Pipavav (41), Kamarajar (47), Cochin (63), Hazira (68), Krishnapatnam (71), Chennai (80) and Jawaharlal Nehru (96).

With a turnaround time (TRT) of 21.4 hours, 27.5 moves per crane hour, and minimal berth idle time, Vishakhapatnam Port has demonstrated impressive performance. These indicators show how well the port handles container ships and have a big impact on consumer preference, the press release read.

Global Container Port Performance Index is an esteemed benchmark for evaluating port performance, which looks at factors like productivity, efficiency, and dependability. Key players in trade, logistics, and supply chain services, such as national governments, port authorities, development agencies, supranational organizations, and private companies, use it as a reference point.

4 ports developed by Adani Ports feature in the World Bank’s global ‘Container Port Performance Index’

Notably, out of these 9 ports that have ranked amongst the top 100 on the global index, four have been developed by Adani ports. Mundra Port developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) was ranked 27 while Kattupalli came in at number 57, Hazira at 68 and Krishnapatnam at 71.

Adani Ports is the largest port developer and operator in India with 7 strategically located ports and terminals on the west coast (Mundra, Tuna, Dahej, and Hazira in Gujarat, Mormugao in Goa, Dighi in Maharashtra and Vizhinjam in Kerala) and 8 ports and terminals on the East coast of India (Haldia in West Bengal, Dhamra and Gopalpur in Odisha, Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Kattupalli and Ennore in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in Puducherry, representing 27% of the country’s total port volumes.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “This is a tremendous achievement for the Indian ports and is a testament to the efforts taken by the Narendra Modi Government to modernise, mechanise and make them technologically savvy to improve performance and enhance efficiency. There has been a significant improvement in operational efficiency and service delivery in the efficient handling of ships and cargo. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we have been able to work to improve the efficiency of our ports through path-breaking ambitious initiatives like Sagarmala. This has helped us build resilience, and incorporate new technology, and green infrastructure to ensure the stability of global markets and the sustainability of India’s maritime industry. With sustained effort in this regard, we are confident that the Indian maritime sector will further improve the resilience and efficiency of Maritime gateways and boost port-led economic development.”

Aligarh: How Islamists are twisting a case where a thief was beaten into a case of ‘lynching of a Muslim by Hindutva mob’

On the 18th of June 2024, a Muslim man called Mohammed Farid, who was also known as “Aurangzeb” was killed after being beaten up by Hindus in Aligarh. According to the Aligarh police, Aurangzeb had entered a Hindu house with the intention to steal. Thereafter, he was caught hold by the family and beaten up, leading to his death.

The Aligarh police in their statement said that the Hindus and Muslims had both protested, however, contrary to some media reports there were no incidents of stone pelting reported from the area.

The incident occurred in the Mamu Bhanja locality around 10:15 PM on Tuesday and the deceased has been identified as Mohammed Farid alias Aurangzeb (35), a resident of the Ghas Ki Mandi locality.

The police arrested 6 Hindus after filing an FIR against 10 named accused and dozens of unidentified Hindus accused.

While the police said the situation was under control and there was no law and order issue in the locality, on Wednesday, Hindu and Muslim groups protested demanding justice.

The Hindu side demanded that those arrested should be released, while the Muslim side demanded justice for Aurangzeb, who had entered a Hindu house late at night.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader came out in defense of Aurangzeb. “No one has the right to take the law in their hands. Even if there was suspicion of Aurangzeb being a thief, he should have been handed over to the police. None had any right to beat the man to death even if there was a suspicion,” local Samajwadi Party leader Ajju Ishaq, who led the protest against the incident, said. “The country will run by the Constitution and law of land and a man, even if suspect, cannot be lynched on religious identity.”

On the other hand, BJP leader Mukta Raja has said that those Hindu boys arrested are innocent and are being falsely framed. She said that Aurangzeb entered the Hindu house with 4-6 other Muslim men. When caught, the others fled and Aurangzeb fell down the stairs, being caught. She has demanded a thorough investigation into the videos that have surfaced and demanded that no innocent person be punished.

On social media, Islamists and the usual elements, who give unbridled covering fire to Islamists, have started giving the ‘Muslim victimhood’ spin to the incident.

Zeyad Masroor Khan, who is a journalist and has worked with Reuters, Vice, DH, and Brut India, claimed that Aurangzeb had ‘gone to meet a friend and entered a neighborhood home by mistake’.

Meer Faisal, whose misinformation about Hindus was used by ISIS to call for the genocide of Hindus, said that the mob which lynched Aurangzeb was a “Hindutva mob”.

Alishan Jafri, another Islamist who calls himself a journalist termed the incident an “anti-Muslim attack”.

The lies were actively peddled by Mohammad Zubair of AltNews as well.

With this dangerous narrative being peddled by the usual suspects, furthering the eternal Muslim victimhood narrative, it becomes imperative to analyze the publicly available information about this case and how the Islamists are indulging in the usual chicanery to blame Hindus and paint the thief as an innocent Muslim man who was lynched for his religious identity.

The FIR in the case was based on the complaint filed by Aurangzeb’s brother. Mohammed Zaki alleged that Aurangzeb was returning home from work when he was mobbed and thrashed by some residents in the Mamu Bhanja locality around 10:15 PM. “They (accused) gathered with the intention of killing brother Aurangzeb. They had lathi, stick, hockey (stick) and iron rod in hand and attacked my brother after identifying him as a Muslim, they killed him,” the complainant has alleged in the FIR.

After the police confirmed that Aurangzeb had indeed entered the house of a Hindu on Tuesday night, elements like Zeyad Masroor Khan started claiming that he was returning home from a friend’s place and had entered a ‘neighborhood house by mistake’. These assertions were endorsed by elements like Mohammad Zubair as well.

This narrative, needless to say, makes very little sense. The brother of the accused has claimed that Aurangzeb was innocently returning home and on his way, he was “identified as a Muslim and lynched to death”. This assertion is debunked immediately after the police have confirmed that he indeed did enter a Hindu house with the intention to steal. The goalpost shift by OGWs claiming that he entered the Hindu house “by mistake” is outlandish, to say the least. They are essentially claiming that while walking on the road, a 35-year-old man, for no apparent reason, simply “by mistake” entered a random house that happened to be one of a Hindu. Nobody enters strange houses late at night, with no ‘intention’ and ‘by mistake’. This is a narrative being peddled simply to demonize Hindus and paint the thief as an innocent Muslim victimized for his religious identity.

Now that it has been established that Aurangzeb did enter a Hindu house late at night, it becomes important to analyze the claim that he was lynched owing to his Muslim identity.

If a strange man enters the house where a family is dwelling late at night, it is unthinkable that the family would first ask the intruder his religious identity before deciding to defend themselves. In a house with women and children, the first instinct, I daresay, would be to assume the worst and with force, if necessary, defend the life and honor of the family from the intruder. To assume that the family, whose house was broken into, would first ask the religious identity of the intruder and spare the perpetrator if he turned out to be a Hindu and defend themselves only if the perpetrator was a Muslim is a myopic narrative furthered only to paint Islamists as the eternal victims.

The narrative about Aurangzeb being beaten up for his Muslim identity is one being furthered by the SP leader Ajju Ishaq and the Islamists on social media, who pretend to be journalists and commentators.

Of course, ideally, nobody should take the law into their own hands and Aurangzeb should have been handed over to the police for further investigation and action. However, defending oneself and one’s family from intruders is human instinct, which in this case led to an illegal action, however, the reaction of the family and the locals would have been the same regardless of the religious identity of the perpetrator. Therefore, to brand this incident as an anti-Muslim attack by a “Hindutva mob” is nothing more than propaganda to target Hindus.

England: Two, including Indian-origin climate ‘activist’ of ‘Just Stop Oil’ group desecrate 5000-year-old Stonehenge, arrested

On Wednesday, June 20, the UK police arrested two ‘Just Stop Oil’ protestors for vandalising Stonehenge, the megalithic standing stones in England. The accused climate ‘activists’ were identified as Rajan Naidu (73) and Niamh Lynch, a 21-year-old student. Naidu was arrested earlier too in 2022 for breaking an injunction.

The UK-based group, notorious for its disruptive protests, took to X to post a video where the accused can be seen spraying an orange substance on the renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the video, the two men, wearing ‘Just Stop Oil’ branded T-shirts, can be seen running towards the ancient structure with canisters of orange powder paint and vandalising it.

They were demanding the next British government to legally commit to phasing out fossil fuels by 2030.

While ‘Just Stop Oil’ claimed that the paint sprayed was “orange cornflour” and would soon wash away with the rain, said experts managing the heritage site are probing “the extent of the damage”.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned the incident, calling it a “disgraceful act of vandalism”.

Leader of the Labour Party Sir Keir Starmer said the damage was “outrageous” and described Just Stop Oil as “pathetic”.

Stonehenge- the renowned World Heritage site in England

Stonehenge was built in several stages, with the first being an early henge monument erected about 5000 years ago on Salisbury Plain in England. The stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period, around 2,500 BC. Stonehenge is a renowned World Heritage site that attracts one million visitors annually.

The bigger stones at Stonehenge, known as sarsens, weigh 25 tons (22.6 metric tons) on average and are widely believed to have been brought from Marlborough Downs, 20 miles (32 kilometres) to the north, according to English Heritage, an organization that oversees Stonehenge.

Most of the monument’s smaller stones, referred to as “bluestones” (as they have a bluish tinge when wet or freshly broken), come from quarries in the Preseli Hills in west Wales, about 140 miles (225 km) away from Stonehenge, a U.K. research team found in a 2015 study in the journal Antiquity. These bluestones weigh between 2 and 5 tons (1.8 and 4.5 metric tons) each, according to English Heritage. Scientists are still unsure exactly how prehistoric people moved the stones over such long distances.

‘Just Stop Oil’ and its past antecedents

Just Stop Oil, is a UK-based environmental activist group notorious for its disruptive protests. In October 2022, two protestors of the UK-based group ‘Just Stop Oil’ Marcus Decker and Morgan Trowland disrupted traffic for almost 40 hours on one of the busiest bridges in the United Kingdom. In support of the Just Stop Oil ‘activist’ group, they climbed the cables supporting the Queen Elizabeth II suspension bridge in Dartford, Kent, and stopped the traffic flow. Both of them were convicted of causing a public nuisance.

As per the activist group, ‘Just Stop Oil’ is a nonviolent civil resistance group. It wants the UK Government should stop licensing all new oil, gas, and coal projects in the country. On their website, the group provokes people to hit the street stating “When petitions don’t work we hit the streets,” amplified multiple times. They appeal to them to join its ongoing ‘Slow March’ luring protestors with two options. If they skip the protest they would have to spend their own money whereas the protestors will enjoy “Free” Breakfast at the Police station and get ‘media attention’ as well.
