West Bengal: Hindus subjected to violence, threatened with murder and rape after victory of TMC candidate Mohammad Kasem Siddique in Amdanga

Hindus living in Amdanga in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal were subjected to violence following the victory of the Trinamool Congress candidate Mohammad Kasem Siddique.

According to a report by Kolkata24X7, there have been cases of vandalism of houses, assault on Hindu women and threats of rape by TMC goons. It has also come to light that many Hindu youths were threatened with murder. The outbreak of violence in Amdanga has forced Hindus to flee the area in fear.

Many of the victims in the area are said to be from the Hindu Dalit community. Local Hindus have narrated that after Siddique emerged victorious in the area, their houses were attacked, furniture was looted, and windows and doors were broken. Women were assaulted physically and also threatened with rape. The victims stated that the attack seemed premeditated.

On learning about the matter, a member of the National Scheduled Castes Commission visited the site in Amdanga. He talked to the affected Hindu families and promised to take strict action.

Reportedly, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.
