Bangladesh Jihadis plotting attack against Suvendu Adhikari because of his criticism of Yunus govt amid persecution of Hindus: Report

Islamic extremist groups from Bangladesh were planning an attack against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari owing to his criticism of the Mohammad Yunus government and the ongoing persecution of Hindus, an India Today report says.

The report, citing IB sources, reveals that 4 Jihadis from Bangladesh conducted a recce in Contai, East Medinipur, where Adhikari resides. The Jihadis visited the area taking pictures of the area and the residence of the BJP leader.

IB has, reportedly, given this input to the State Police, recommending that security around Adhikari’s residence be increased.

Suvendu Adhikari has been vocal about the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, slamming the Yunus government as illegal and a government of fundamentalists and militants.

Adhikari has said that he is unphased by the threats and that the people will protect him. “In the past, the CPM and Trinamool Congress attacked me; now, terrorists want to carry out an attack. But the people who protected me before will protect me again,” he said.

Days ago, on the 22nd of December, Adhikari reiterated his support to Hindus of Bangladesh including ISKCON priest Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu.

“Today I joined the Protest Rally at Egra, organized by the @BJP4Bengal Medinipur Organizational District, condemning the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. We reiterated our demand for the unconditional release of revered Hindu Monk; Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, who has been imprisoned wrongfully. Thousands of Sanatani People gathered to protest against the arrest of spiritual leaders and desecration of Indian Flag in Bangladesh”, he tweeted.
