Bengaluru court issues non-bailable warrant against Prakash Raj for possessing voter cards in 4 states; actor alleges fake news

A non-bailable warrant (NBW) has been issued against anti-Hindu propagandist and actor Prakash Raj by a Bengaluru court in connection with allegations that he has voter identity cards in several states. According to reports, advocate Dileep Kumar filed a complaint at the Halasuru Gate Police Station in 2019, which charged that Raj possessed voter ID cards in four states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Every Indian resident is only allowed to register to vote in one location nationwide, according to the Election Commission of India norms. It is against these rules for someone to have voter ID cards in more than one state at the same time. It would be a blatant breach of election law if the accusations are validated in court.

Kumar stated that the police did not respond to the complaint. He then went to the Indian Election Commission and the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner. He petitioned the court because neither authority responded.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, also known as the 48th ACJM Court in Bengaluru, took up the case. Raj received summonses from the court twice. The actor was instructed in both summonses to appear in court on designated dates. However, he failed to comply both times.  The court took note of his absence on both occasions and his continued disregard for the court summons.

The case will move forward after Prakash Raj appears in court and replies to the claims. The result of the current proceedings will determine if further legal action is taken. Meanwhile, the actor claimed that fake news was being circulated against him.

“Sold out fellows. Cooking up fake news and spreading them. Must have been badly hurt. But I am happy I have kept them busy,” Raj wrote on social media.
