Bigg Boss 13 contestant Himanshi Khurana reveals she was being pressured to convert to Islam by her ex-boyfriend Asim Riaz

Bigg Boss 13 contestant Himanshi Khurana has made some shocking revelations regarding her relationship with her ex-boyfriend Asim Riaz on her former co-contestant Paras Chhabra’s podcast. Without naming Asim Riaz, Khurana spoke about how she was coerced by him to leave her religion.

Speaking to Chhabra, Himanshi Khurana said that Asim Riaz used to praise his religion and eventually asked her to leave her faith and accept Islam. “He used to tell me the good things about his religion. Everyone tells you about those things; there is nothing wrong with that. They wanted me to understand it and accept it, but it was not acceptable to me. There was nothing wrong with him; he never misbehaved with me, but it was my own choice that I did not want to do something like that,” she said.

Khurana was told that she would no longer be able to follow her religion, Hinduism. She added that at one point she considered the option of giving up her religion. However, she decided to undertake the Char Dham Yatra to say a final goodbye to the Gods she believed in before renouncing her Hindu faith. “I felt I wouldn’t be able to do this anymore. So I said I want to visit Char Dham and all the pilgrimages before that, because after that I would never be able to meet them. It was like I was saying goodbye,” she said.

During her pilgrimage, Khurana said that she felt an internal conflict in giving up her faith and accepting another religion. “I felt like I was betraying my God,” Khurana said.

She claimed to have realised that she would never truly be able to renounce her faith, which she had grown up with and had internalised.

She knew that she would not be able to accept a different religion because of her deep-rooted connection with her own faith. “I said, if I bow my head before your God, automatically ‘Waheguru’ will come out of my mouth. That would also be a betrayal. And this is already inside me. How can I remove it?” she questioned.

She contemplated how accepting a different religion would alter and impact her life, including the manner in which her last rites would be performed. “Then a question came into my mind – will I be cremated or buried? This question came from my subconscious. Anyone can have any choice. I believe everyone should have their own individual choice,” she said.

Khurana said that while undertaking the Kinnaur Kailash trek, she broke down. “When I reached there, I cried. I cried so much,” she said, adding that it gave her a perspective, and that was the moment that she decided not to leave her faith.

Notably, Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz met on the reality TV show and remained in a relationship for four years before separating in 2023. They cited religious differences as the reason behind their separation.
