On Saturday (9th August), the Bihar police arrested a man impersonating an IAS officer and claiming to be the ‘undercover agent’ of NSA chief Ajit Doval. The accused has been identified as Manish Kumar Gupta aka Chikku.
According to reports, the police have unearthed assets worth more than ₹100 crore linked to him. The arrest took place after a joint raid by the District Investigation Unit (DIU) and Gogri police at the residence of the accused.
Manish Kumar Gupta used his fake identity for a considerable amount of time to dupe unsuspecting individuals in the State. He used to put ‘Govt of India’ and ‘IAS’ stickers on his private luxury vehicles to bolster his claims.

In a statement, Gogri police station SHO Arvind Kumar said, “An FIR has been registered naming Manish Gupta. The police are examining the recovered documents, cards and CCTV footage to ascertain the purpose for which official identity was being used by Gupta.”
The cops also seized 2 luxury vehicles, besides 31 litres of foreign liquor and a bottle that alone cost more than ₹1 lakh. Gupta has been booked under the Excise and Prohibition Act.
The police also recovered 5 Apple phones, 20 credit cards, 8 debit cards, 4 cheque books and deer and Barasingha antlers.
