Toronto Police have arrested 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori in connection with the killing of his Indian-origin partner, 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana. Ghafoori has been charged with first-degree murder in the case, which dates back to December 2025.

A 32-year-old man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with the 2025 homicide of a Toronto woman has been returned to Canada and arrested.

Ghafoori was arrested on 7th August at a Toronto airport after police worked with national and international law enforcement agencies to bring him back to Canada. Toronto Police said on 8th August that their Fugitive Squad and Homicide and Missing Persons Unit had coordinated with their policing partners for his return. Police have not disclosed the country where Ghafoori was staying before coming back to Canada.
Himanshi Khurana found dead in Toronto home
The case began on 20th December, 2025, when Toronto Police were looking into a missing-person report. At around 6:30 am, officers found a woman dead inside a home in the Queen West area, close to Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West.
The woman was later identified as Himanshi Khurana, a 30-year-old Toronto resident of Indian origin. Investigators determined that her death was a homicide. Khurana was Toronto’s 40th homicide victim of 2025.
Police had earlier said Khurana and Ghafoori were known to each other and were in an “intimate partner relationship.”
Canada-wide warrant issued for Ghafoori
After Khurana’s death, investigators named Ghafoori as a suspect in the case and issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest on a first-degree murder charge in December. Police also released his photograph while looking for him.
After several months, Ghafoori was located and brought back to Canada with the help of national and international police partners. He was arrested at a Toronto airport on 7th August.
Ghafoori to face court
Ghafoori was scheduled to appear in bail court on Saturday morning, 8th August, to face the first-degree murder charge. The charge has not been tested in court.
