On Wednesday (21 October), a 25-year-old man was arrested by Bengaluru Police for creating and uploading an AI-generated video that showed a bomb explosion at the Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the Karnataka legislature. The arrested man has been identified as Hazarat Ali, a daily-wage labourer (pipe-fitter) living in Bengaluru.
According to the statement given by the police, on Tuesday, 20 October, the video surfaced on an Instagram handle named ‘jnxkingh_g’. In the video, Ali can be seen making a gun gesture and pretending to shoot at the Vidhana Soudha, followed by an edited clip simulating an explosion at the building.
The clip carried the caption “Vidhanasabha Uda Diya Bam se” (Blown up the Vidhana Soudha with a bomb). The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Tuesday, 20 October, after a social media monitoring team flagged the video during digital surveillance.

Ali was traced using Internet Protocol (IP) logs and subsequently arrested. Police booked him under Section 353 (statements conducive to public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint stated that the video had triggered fear among the public and constituted an offence against public peace.
Police are currently interrogating Ali to learn his motive and determine whether others were involved in the creation or circulation of the video.
“The video was created using Artificial Intelligence to make it appear as though a bomb had exploded at Vidhana Soudha. We are investigating why he created and uploaded the video, and whether anyone else was involved in its creation or circulation,” a police officer said.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the growing misuse of artificial intelligence tools to generate realistic but misleading content that can spread fear and undermine public trust in digital information.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the circumstances under which the video was produced and shared.
