‘India should learn a lesson’: Complaint filed against Sanjay Raut for calling for the burning down of Supreme Court and other constitutional institutions in India on the lines of anarchy-hit Albania

Shiv Sena (UBT) senior leader Sanjay Raut, who is infamous for his foul-mouthedness, has again landed in hot water for his recent provocative remarks. A complaint has been filed against Sanjay Raut by Advocate Vineet Jindal over an inflammatory X post, calling for the burning down of the Supreme Court of India. The complaint sought the registration of an FIR against Raut under Sections 353(1)(b), 152, 196, and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the applicable sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Raut, who has a history of publicly using abusive language, called for an Albania-like situation in India where violent anti-government protests have been causing havoc, in a post on X. The European nation is currently witnessing widespread violent anti-government protests by youngsters and opposition groups. Recently, the protesters set fire to the Supreme Court building in Albania, causing damage to the property and court records.

Fascinated by the anarchic situation in Albania, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader urged people in India to take inspiration from violent protesters in Albania and replicate the situation in India. Raut appealed to people in India to rise in rebellion against the Indian government and burn down the country’s constitutional institutions, including the Supreme Court, the Parliament, and government offices.

“The people of Albania have burned down the Supreme Court. The people were enraged because the Supreme Court was helping corrupt prime ministers. The protesting public has also attacked the parliament and government offices, as well as the ministers’ homes. All countries should learn a lesson from these events. Especially India,” Raut wrote on X on Monday (October 17, 2026).

Raut’s appeal for riots and violence in India exposes the Opposition’s desperation and malicious intentions to replace the current Modi government, even if it comes at the cost of destroying the Constitutional institutions.

The Opposition’s recent regime change attempt, disguised as a protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise undertaken by the Election Commission, miserably failed. It is no longer a secret that the Opposition leaders and anti-government voices have been trying to topple the Modi government by manufacturing public resentment against the government.

However, the frustration emerging from the Opposition’s recurring failures in bringing down the government is publicly manifesting in the form of inflammatory and provocative remarks by their leaders.
