The occurrence has led to protests by government medical officers. The doctors have asked for strict action against the perpetrators and the accompanying police personnel, threatening to close the OPD (Outpatient Department). In a memo outlining their concerns, members of the Gazetted Medical Officers’ Association met with Wardha District Collector Vanmathi C.
The state-level organisation MAGMO (Maharashtra State Gazetted Medical Officers Association) has also been made aware of the incident. Following discussions with state-level representatives, the district association stated that the five policemen escorting the culprit had neglected to take sufficient safety measures to stop the attack, highlighting their recklessness in carrying out their official responsibilities.
The group has insisted that the accused must face serious charges and that the involved police officers should also be disciplined. It has issued a warning that OPD services will remain closed until action is initiated in the matter.
