As the festival of Ram Navami was being celebrated across the country with full fervour, Ram Navami processions were attacked by Islamists at various places in different states. Islamists pelted stones at the Ram Navami processions and the devotees, leading to the police resorting to lathi charge and using tear gas shells. Several individuals, including police personnel, sustained serious injuries in the attacks.
Ahilyanagar (Maharashtra): Stone-pelting at Ram Navami procession outside a mosque
A Ram Navami procession was attacked with stones and bricks by Islamists around 4:00 pm on Thursday (26th March) as it reached the mosque situated at Sayyad Baba Chowk in Srirampur city of the Ahilyanagar district in Maharashtra. The devotees taking part in the religious procession were caught by surprise by the sudden attack. As per reports, some of the devotees sustained serious injuries during the stone pelting, one of whom is said to be in a critical condition. The injured are receiving treatment at the government hospital in Shrirampur.
The devotees staged a protest after the incident, demanding action against the attackers. Subsequently, an FIR was registered by the police under Sections 190, 191(1), 191(2), 192, 110, and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Maulana of the mosque and 12 unidentified individuals have been made accused in the FIR.
Mumbai (Maharashtra):
Ram Navami preparations in the Malvani (Malad) area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, were disrupted when a Muslim woman attacked a devotee. Soon, people gathered at the scene in large numbers. The situation came under control after police intervention. The police erected barricades in the area to prevent further escalation. A video of the incident went viral on social media.

The incident happened when Hindu devotees were putting up flags on the road to welcome the Ram Navami procession. As soon as they reached in front of the mosque situated on the road, some people from the Muslim community objected. The situation grew tense as both sides came face-to-face. Amid the chaos, a Muslim woman slapped a devotee as the police were trying to control the crowd.

Jharkhand: Islamists demanded a change of route of the Ram Navami procession, pelted stones
In a similar incident, Islamists pelted stones at a Ram Navami procession in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand on Thursday evening (26th March). As per reports, communal tensions had been simmering in the region since Wednesday as local Muslims wanted the route of the procession changed. On Thursday, when the Ram Navami procession reached near the Kauakhoh Shiv Chabutra, some members of the Muslim community blocked its route and stone pelting ensued.
As soon as the information of the attack reached the police, DIG Kaushal Kishore and SP Aman Kumar, along with a team of police, reached the spot. The police team resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. Several civilians and policemen were injured in the stone pelting.
Dozens of attackers were detained by the police in connection with the incident, and several vehicles were seized. In addition to that, Ramkanda Station House Officer (SHO) Surendra Singh Kuntia was removed with immediate effect, and the charge was handed over to RK Patel.
Bihar: Communal tensions flared up on the occasion of Ram Navami
Some incidents of communal tension were reported from parts of Bihar on the occasion of Ram Navami, after which the Director General of Police (DGP) issued a strict warning to miscreants not to disturb law and order. The police have been identifying miscreants through CCTV footage.
