Malaysia's Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, making the announcement of the arrest of the Bangladeshis, stated that the police’s operation started on April 24 with three phases of arrests in Selangor and Johor in Malaysia.
In a massive statewide crackdown, over 550 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were detained in Ahmedabad and Surat for residing in India with forged documents, Gujarat police said on Saturday.
The report published by JNU pointed out that illegal immigrants from both Bangladesh and Myanmar enter India through porous borders in West Bengal, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
