The Indian MEA has stated that India will allow the export of hydroxychloroquine and paracetamol to some countries which are 'badly affected' with the coronavirus crisis. The MEA will decide on a case-to-case basis after domestic demands are met.
India is the largest producer of hydroxychloroquine in the world. The Commerce Ministry, in a notification dated 4 April, has enforced an absolute ban on the export of the drug.
Recently, the National Task Force COVID-19 constituted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had recommended the use of hydroxy-chloroquine for high-risk cases, as a preventive measure against COVID-19.
