In a significant observation during a bail hearing, the Allahabad High Court commented on the concept of live-in relationships, The court stated that live-in goes against the "established laws" of middle-class society. The court also expressed concern over the rising number of cases involving the exploitation of women under the guise of false marriage promises.

Refusing to intervene, the Punjab and Haryana court said the man in a live-in relationship with his girlfriend without divorcing wife constitutes an offence of bigamy.

Allahabad High Court has said that there is a "systematic design" at work to "destroy the institution of marriage in India."

"The Commission vehemently condemns this heinous crime against a woman. We assert that a comprehensive, impartial, and expeditious investigation is an absolute imperative", said the statement by the NCW.

The accused killed the 11-year-old boy as she considered him a hurdle in her relationship with her live-in partner.
