The same US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent who accused India of profiteering from Russia-Ukraine war, was seen gloating over US’s strategy of selling weapons to Europe intended for Ukraine with a 10% markup.
"We are contributing about 18%, which is more than the US where the contribution is expected to be much less – about 11% or something. We are doing very well and we will continue to improve further," the RBI governor said.
Global crude prices could jump to 200 US Dollars a barrel if India were to stop buying Russian Oil thus severely harming consumers worldwide, sources told ANI.
In the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, India has been buying oil from Russia at discounted rates. India fulfils around 88% of its crude oil demand through imports.
"I am still wiping the egg off my face because I was one person in the parliamentary debate who actually criticized the Indian position at the time back in February 2022," Tharoor said.
While India's purchase of crude oil comes is far from hurting any economy and instead has stabilised the global economy in a volatile geopolitical environment, the United State's historical funding to Pakistan has come at a huge cost to India, its neighbourhood and human rights at large.
