The arrest of the accused has uncovered links to several crimes involving him like robbery, abduction, and the use of stolen funds to acquire assets like a huge farmhouse near Chennai. The accused is a serial offender and has been involved in several criminal cases like theft and sexual assault, as revealed by the police.

A 19-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on the university campus after which the police arrested one man identified as Gnansekaran in the case. The incident has notably sparked massive political outrage in the state with the state failing to handle the situation and opposition demanding change of governance.

Patori Police DSP BK Medhavi meanwhile took cognizance of the event and said that a detailed investigation into the case would be conducted. She said that the office was unaware of the incident until the video appeared on social media.

In the viral video, the woman police officer could be seen grabbing a woman and kissing her on the lips. The officer, as per the reports was in an inebriated state while on duty. This has further sparked outrage among the public.

Based on a complaint by the woman's husband, the police took immediate action and arrested Shoaib Khan under the relevant sections of the law.

The incident is believed to have happened in February this year however, it came to the fore only after the video went viral over social media prompting the parents of the victim to file a police complaint on 8th October.

Aalim has been arrested and charged with rape, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing harm. His father, Mohd Sabir, has also been charged with criminal intimidation under IPC section 504.

The incident which led to the CPM leader's arrest occurred in 2023 when he raped the 12th class student.
