Jammu and Kashmir: Police arrest terror associates Ghulam and Shabnum from Ganderbal, arms, ammunition and Rs 8 lakh cash recovered

On Thursday (1st January), the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terror associates in the Ganderbal district. The police recovered arms, ammunition and Rs 8.40 lakh cash.  In collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG), the Ganderbal Police recovered weapons near Gundrehman Bridge during a naka checking operation.

The arrested terrorists have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir, S/O Mohammad Subhan Mir, resident of Hajin, District Bandipora, and Shabnum Nazir, D/O Nazir Ahmad Ganie, resident of Shalabugh, District Ganderbal.

The recovered weapons include one Chinese pistol, one pistol magazine, four pistol rounds, two hand grenades and cash amounting to Rs 8,40,500.

The Ganderbal Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act. The police are investigating where the arms and ammunition were procured from and what the cash was to be used for, as well as the possible terror links of the accused.
