On Sunday (5th April), goons belonging to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) vandalised the party office of the BJP in Parnasree in Behala locality of South Kolkata.
The targeted attack, which was caught on CCTV, was carried out in the presence of TMC candidate Ratna Chatterjee. According to reports, the office belonged to BJP leader and candidate Idranil Khan.
It is being said that local police were present there at that time, but failed to stop the violence and vandalism. In CCTV footage, which has gone viral, TMC goons could be seen destroying the BJP party’s banners and kicking on the door of the building.
While speaking about the matter, Indranil Khan stated, “Kolkata, once considered the stronghold of the Trinamool Congress, is showing signs of cracks, and the desperation is evident.”
In a tweet, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya stated, “It is increasingly clear that certain elements within the Kolkata Police are siding with the TMC. We urge the Election Commission of India to act swiftly and ensure that those responsible are punished without delay.”
According to him, a First Information Report (FIR) was later lodged against TMC candidate Ratna Chatterjee. No arrests have been made at the time of writing this report.
