The final rites of actor Twisha Sharma were performed in Bhopal on Sunday evening, 24th May, after her second post-mortem examination was completed. Her brother carried out the last rites at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat (Shamshan Ghat), Muktidham, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The Noida-based model-turned-actor was found dead on May 12 at her in-laws’ home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area, just months after marrying advocate Samarth Singh.

The fresh autopsy was conducted at AIIMS Bhopal by a team of senior doctors from AIIMS Delhi following directions issued by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The court ordered the second medical examination as demands for transparency in the investigation continued to grow.
Family dropped plan to hold last rites in Delhi
Twisha’s cousin Ashish Sharma said the family had earlier planned to perform the last rites in Delhi. However, the decision was later changed because travelling such a long distance was not considered practical. She died 12 days ago, and there were concerns that the body would decompose during transportation.
“We wanted to perform the last rites in Delhi, but travelling that far in this heat was difficult. Due to medical reasons, it was finally decided to hold the last rites in Bhopal,” he said.
Family raised questions over first post-mortem
Earlier, a family member had raised concerns about the first post-mortem examination and said there were several issues in the initial medical process.
According to the relative, the family hoped the second autopsy would help answer the questions that remained unclear after the first examination. The family also welcomed the judiciary’s involvement in the matter and expressed hope that the fresh medical review would provide more clarity.
The case has received significant attention, forcing the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance of the matter. Meanwhile, the intervention of the Madhya Pradesh High Court led to the decision to conduct a second post-mortem under the supervision of senior doctors from AIIMS Bhopal.
Twisha’s family has accused her husband and his family, including retired district judge Giribala Singh, of subjecting her to dowry harassment and mental torture. Her husband, Samarth Singh, was arrested on Friday after he surrendered at Jabalpur district court. He had been absconding for around 10 days after an FIR was registered on dowry death and harassment charges on 15th May.
