An Indian Air Force Wing Commander has been arrested on charges of falling into a honey trap set by a Pakistani intelligence agency. The accused is said to have leaked confidential and sensitive defence information of the country. This officer was under the surveillance of the Air Force intelligence wing for a long time.
After being caught, he was handed over to law enforcement agencies. According to Delhi Police sources, the accused officer is currently in judicial custody. A case has been registered against him under the Official Secrets Act. Further legal action in the matter is ongoing.
Air Force Strictness and the Truth of Espionage
Police sources stated that the accused officer was posted in a field unit. A woman honey-trapped the accused via social media and began interacting with him over video calls. The woman asked this Air Force officer to provide details about military movement and troop deployment, along with photos, videos, and other sensitive data. Police sources say that the Wing Commander sent sensitive documents and data to the woman through digital channels.
Air Force officials have provided full details of this case. The accused Wing Commander had been on the radar of the intelligence department for quite some time. He has been arrested in a timely manner. The Air Force has clearly stated that tampering with national security will not be tolerated. Their policy against such acts is one of zero tolerance. After finding concrete evidence, the accused officer was handed over to investigative agencies.
The investigation revealed that the accused had fallen into the trap of Pakistani agents through social media, which is known as a honey trap. Another serious allegation has been made against him. He had secretly installed a spying software (app) on a fellow officer’s phone. With the help of this software, he wanted to steal data from his colleague’s phone. In this manner, he was attempting to transmit the country’s confidential information to an enemy nation.
Delhi Police Investigation and Pakistan’s Honey Trap Game
This major arrest took place with the help of the Air Force intelligence wing, which shared specific and solid inputs with the Delhi Police. Police sources indicate that the investigation into this matter is still ongoing. It is being probed to find out what other confidential details the accused transmitted to the enemy nation. Pakistani intelligence agents create fake profiles on social media to lure Indian soldiers and ordinary citizens into their traps.
Such cases of espionage have surfaced in the country before. Just last year, Rajasthan Police arrested Mangat Singh, a resident of Alwar, on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Police stated that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was conducted in Rajasthan, following which a large surveillance operation was launched in the state. Mangat Singh’s activities were found to be suspicious in the cantonment area of Alwar, after which the police nabbed him.
