On Friday, 4th September, a female reporter from Republic Channel was surrounded and harassed by a group of CJP workers outside the Sansad Marg Police Station, with the incident captured on video. The footage shows the reporter, who was holding a microphone, being tightly surrounded by a crowd, largely comprising men, while she was trying to carry out her professional duties.

The people around her can be seen pointing fingers at her and raising their hands close to her face and body. Several people were also seen recording the confrontation on their mobile phones while standing very close to the reporter and repeatedly entering her personal space. The crowd was also heard raising “Godi Media” slogans during the confrontation.
The reporter appeared distressed as the situation continued. She can be seen arguing with the people surrounding her, gesturing towards them and trying to push away hands that came close to her. The visuals have raised concerns over the treatment of women journalists covering political protests, particularly when they are attempting to report from the spot.
Earlier incidents involving women journalists covering CJP protest
The incident also brings back earlier reports of women journalists facing heckling and assault while covering CJP-related protests in Jantar Mantar. Videos from previous demonstrations have shown women reporters being surrounded by protesters while they were performing their professional duties.

In one such viral video, CJP supporters were seen encircling a woman journalist during a protest. The protesters shouted slogans around her, and one of them was seen making an obscene gesture towards the journalist. The incident drew attention to the difficulties faced by women reporters while covering demonstrations.
एक महिला पत्रकार को भी भारी विरोध का सामना करना पड़ा है। मोदी जी के चेले..मोदीजी के चेले… कहकर कुछ Cockroaches ने विरोध किया है। Godi Media कहकर बुलाया गया है।

Another woman journalist was also targeted by CJP hooligans, who heckled her as she was trying to cover the protests, accusing her of being a government agent. One of the CJP protestors taunted her, saying, “Modi (PM Modi) must have handed her a ₹500 note”, as others shouted slogans at her.
The concerns became more serious during the second day of the “Sansad Chalo” protest on Tuesday, 21st July, when two female journalists were groped and attacked while covering the demonstration in New Delhi.
