‘Coward, bully, undemocratic’: BRS leader KT Rama Rao lashes out at Rahul Gandhi, refers to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy as his “unlimited ATM”; read what happened

On 6th September (Tuesday), Bharat Rashtra Samith (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao launched a scathing attack against Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy over the arrest of Dr Manne Krishank.

He charged, “Rahul Gandhi wants to be Prime Minister, but acts like a coward, a bully and an undemocratic human. He preaches the Constitution, yet runs anarchy in Telangana through his puppet Revanth Reddy and encourages defections.”

Rao stated that the Lok Sabha MP complains about alleged “vote chori (vote theft) in the streets but made Telangana’s biggest vote-chor, the original vote-for-note peddler, the Chief Minister.” He further expressed that the former Congress chief can make unfounded claims about anyone, however, BRS spokesperson Krishank Manne was arrested after challenging the Anumula family’s corruption with evidence.

Rao then referred to CM Reddy and added, “Rein in your puppet, Rahul. Stop making a mockery of the Indian Constitution.”

On Tuesday, Gopalapuram police apprehended Krishank after a Congress leader filed a complaint about his allegations against the financial and commercial dealings of CM Reddy’s family. The police made the arrest at his home and brought him to the Gopalapuram police station in spite of protests from the BRS and its legal cell members. Afterwards, he was taken to Gandhi Hospital for a check-up before appearing in court.

The development transpired one day after Congressman Mettu Sai Kumar lodged a complaint with Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, which led them to register another case against Krishank, “MR Media Telangana,” and others. The First Information Report (FIR) was submitted under Sections 353(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in response to statements and the release of material in relation to corruption involving CM Reddy’s family totalling Rs 13,500 crore by abusing the latter’s position.

According to Krishank, CM Reddy is pushing for a pharmaceutical city at the expense of the populace since his daughter, Naimisha Reddy, is connected to these businesses. Additionally, he stated that the alleged business interests, assets, investments, and financial activities of their entire family should be the subject of an Enforcement Directorate investigation. Krishank also questioned their investments in Maxbien Pharma, Medicover and other businesses.

The party members brought up the fact that a case had previously been initiated with the Central Crime Station over the press conference, and then a new complaint had been opened at the Gopalapuram police station concerning the same matter. Citing Supreme Court norms, the BRS contested the registration of two cases related to the same incident and accused the government of using such action to stifle opposition. The party lashed out that the government should address Krishank’s accusations instead of pursuing a political grudge.

BRS asked, “Is questioning the government now leading to cases and arrests?” Rao termed CM Reddy as Rahul Gandhi’s “unlimited ATM card” and added that questioning his corruption will predictably lead to such action. “Of course, the Feku Gandhi of 420 promises will get cases filed. File as many as you want, Mr Feku Gandhi. BRS will continue to expose the corrupt Congress thugs. This is my promise to you. Many more to come,” he declared.

The post was issued in reaction to Krishank’s tweet that highlighted the FIR filed against him. He wrote, “When an opposition party holds a press conference and raises question on chief minister ignoring the government’s sectors of health & education but promoting the family’s business investment in corporate hospitals & schools, the ruling party – the Congress government or family members of the chief minister are expected to answer the state,” labelling the move against him as a “new low.”
