Social media ‘influencer’ Mr Faisu shares photo with Amruta Fadnavis, had earlier threatened revenge in the name of Tabrez Ansari

Social media ‘influencer’ Faisal Shaikh aka Mr Faisu, who has repeatedly found himself at the centre of serious public controversies for his incendiary remarks, is back in the headlines over his picture with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’ wife, Amruta Fadnavis.

Faisu recently shared an Instagram story featuring Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, attending his wedding function. In an Instagram story featuring Amruta Fadnavis, Faisu publicly thanked her and wrote, “Thank you for your good wishes and blessings for my wedding”.

Several social media posts suggest that the photograph was taken during the Rangilo Re Navratri Garba celebration held in Mumbai on 18th October.

The post immediately sparked widespread outrage across social media platforms. Netizens expressed strong resentment over a high-profile political figure attending the wedding of an influencer with a history of making incendiary statements that defended vengeance and raised questions of radical sympathy.

The initial flashpoint of his troubled public record occurred in 2019. In a video that sent ripples across the country, Faisu was seen with four other ‘influencer’ friends of his saying, “Maar toh diya Tum ne Tabrez ko, par Kal jab uski aulaad badla ke toh ye mat kehna Musalman atankwadi hai.” (You may have killed that innocent Tabrez Ansari, but tomorrow if his son takes revenge, do not say that all Muslims are terrorists).

Faisu’s TikTok account was suspended after the video was posted. A complaint was filed against Faisu, and others were also named in the complaint over the video.

Notably, during the investigation, it was concluded that Jharkhand man Tabrez Ansari was a thief and died of a heart attack. Ansari was caught stealing a bike, following which the locals had beaten him. Four days later, he died in police custody. After the autopsy confirmed that he died of a heart attack, murder charges were dropped against the accused.
