WaPo’s sympathetic headline on Baghdadi shows how frightening modern ‘liberalism’ is

Yesterday, US forces raided a compound in Northern Syria where ISIS Chief Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi was hiding, leading to the world’s biggest terrorist killing himself. Considering the horrific nature of the crimes committed by the Islamic State, you would expect all members of the civilized world to be uniformly delighted by his end. Let’s hope he suffered.

But Western liberals beg to differ. The Washington Post carried an obituary of him with a frighteningly sympathetic headline, referring to him as an “austere religious scholar.”

Washington Post glorifying ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

The Washington Post later changed its headline in obituary of Baghdadi after outrage broke all around. But the thing is that this is not an isolated incident. It fits into an increasingly common pattern. Remember how the New York Times wrote about the 9/11 attacks being a case of “planes taking aim” at the World Trade Center?

Untitled.png
NYTimes watering down the 9/11 terror attacks

Remember that ISIS carried out numerous attacks on US forces and civilians. They brutally beheaded American civilians and put the videos on the internet. And that some 3000 Americans lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

As such, this changed attitude from New York Times or Washington Post reveals something truly frightening about modern liberalism. In at least two ways.

For years, we Indians have chafed at the way “anti-India” bias of such international media outlets. Most recently, their one sided coverage of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 left many Indians fuming.

But what explains their bias? One popular theory is that liberals in Europe and America simply don’t care enough about what happens to Hindus in India. Perhaps they just don’t know enough? This holds out the hope that if only they were more sensitized or more informed, they would be more fair.

But the stance of Washington Post towards ISIS blows this theory to bits. They may not know enough about Kashmir, but surely they know enough about what ISIS has done to Americans. The New York Times is based in New York : they know all about the pain of 9/11. So this urge to whitewash the crimes of Islamism is coming from a place deeper than ignorance.

Read: The Washington Post headline on Baghdadi’s death: Another progressive step in the long march of liberalism

Another popular theory to explain the softness of liberals towards Islamism is to follow the money. The finger of suspicion is often pointed towards the Saudis and their myriad investments (both direct and indirect) in all sorts of companies all over the world. Perhaps there are economic compulsions that make big media go soft on Islamism?

That explanation doesn’t wash in this case. The Saudi royal family absolutely despises ISIS. They see ISIS as the biggest threat to their own rule.

What explanation does that leave? If not due to ignorance, if not due to money, why is the modern liberal whitewashing Islamic terror? Could it be out of genuine support for extreme Islamism?

A truly frightening possibility.

If this is true, it radically changes how we have to interact with the global left. No amount of information or lobbying will suffice. You can’t change the minds of people who might sympathize with ISIS, can you?

If this is true, it leaves us with no option but to view the international left as an active security threat.

It’s more than just hypocrisy.  They become active security threats who sympathize with terrorists. Calling them hypocrites or ignorant or foolish no longer makes sense. Their intent goes far beyond the scope of such words.

Where does that leave us? It is hard to say. How do we deal with a global media that is actively supporting terrorists? And they are not even in it for the money.

28-member delegation of European Parliament meet PM Modi in Delhi ahead of visiting Jammu and Kashmir on October 29

0

India is all poised to expose Pakistan for its nefarious propaganda about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as 28 member delegation of Members of European Parliament will visit Srinagar tomorrow to observe the situation in the state firsthand. Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NSA Ajit Doval met the delegates in Delhi and briefed them about India’s position on Kashmir. PM Modi said that urgent action should be taken against those who shelter terrorists, support terror organisations and use them as a state policy.

PM Modi and NSA Ajit Doval briefed the 28 members of the European Parliament about the development in Kashmir as well as the threats of terror attacks the country is facing. In the last few days, Pakistan has been peddling lies about the restrictions imposed by the government in the state. However, most of the preventive restrictions have been lifted by the government and the continued restrictions in some parts of the state are self-imposed by the people of the Valley on the account of threats issued by terror elements.

PM Modi also told the delegates that an early conclusion of a fair and balanced Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) is a priority for the Indian government.

Following the meeting with PM Modi and NSA Ajit Doval at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi, BN Dunn, Member of European Parliament said that PM Modi explained to them about the need for the abrogation of Article 370, but he claimed that he want to see the ground situation and chat up with locals to understand the prevailing condition there.

The European delegation will be visiting Kashmir early morning tomorrow and will reach Srinagar by noon. They will have an interaction with Jammu and Kashmir administration including the governor, and members of the civil society. They are also scheduled to visit Dal Lake. With this visit, India aims to tell the world that normalcy is returning in Kashmir, even as the shrill rhetoric continues to be raised by neighbouring country Pakistan.

A few days back, European parliamentarians had condemned Pakistan for harbouring terrorists and extending financial and moral support to terrorists on their soil. European Parliament member MEP Tomas Zdechovsky backed India’s move to repeal Article 370 to curb terrorism. On another instance, Ryszard Czarnecki, a Polish politician and the Member of European Parliament from Poland said that the terrorists caught in India did not land from Moon but they came from neighbouring Pakistan and censured it for its role to nurture terrorism in the subcontinent.

Ever since Article 370 has been abrogated by the Indian government, Pakistan has been spreading falsehoods about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, in their bid to draw international attention towards the issue and somehow get the decision revoked. Pakistani ministers have indulged in spreading fake news and out of context things to project that the condition in the Valley is worsening and the Indian forces are supposedly committing unspeakable atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris.

The Washington Post headline on Baghdadi’s death: Another progressive step in the long march of liberalism

The Washington Post landed itself in a big soup on Sunday after announcing the death of the head of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, with a bizarre headline. The headline declared him an ‘austere religious scholar’, suggesting that his austerity was the real issue here. As expected, the headline caused a huge uproar on social media, following which Washington Post changed its headline.

Amusingly enough, the bizarre headline was not the original headline for the announcement. The first headline was good enough that described him as the ‘terrorist-in-chief’ but somehow, the media organization wasn’t comfortable with it and changed it to the bizarre one.

The whole fiasco does reveal the sickness that has gripped the Left and the globalist western media. Their hatred for normalcy and the natural order of things runs so deep that they would enthusiastically travel the extra mile to cover for the crimes of Radical Islamic terrorists. It’s important to note here that Washington Post was uncomfortable while calling Baghdadi the ‘terrorist-in-chief’ and changed that headline to call him an ‘austere religious leader’ instead. Why should any media organization hesitate to call Baghdadi a terrorist? Why should anyone feel uncomfortable calling him what he was? The answers to these questions reveal everything that is wrong with the Left.

The objective of Washington Post’s bizarre headline was to use Baghdadi’s death to demonize religious people of every hue. Their intention was to deflect attention from radical Islam and shift the blame to austere religious beliefs. Their headline suggested that austere religious beliefs somehow inspire people to rape, pillage and kill ‘Kaafirs’, when all of us know that’s really not the case.

India is home to a great many ‘austere religious scholars’. Austerity is an important aspect of all major religious faiths. The Jain and the Buddhist monks, Hindus Sadhus and Sanyasis, they lead very austere lives. But no one finds them threatening, no one could really argue that they are involved in an organized movement that uses terrorism to establish a global religious order that conforms to their ideals. Gautama Buddha was an ‘austere religious scholar’. Thus, quite obviously, austerity is not the problem here, Baghdadi’s ideology is.

For quite some time, it has been abundantly clear that the globalist Left is in bed with radical Islam. They have been operating as the propaganda wing of radical Islamic terrorists for a while now. They are so consumed by their hatred for the average citizen of their country that they are willing to ally with radical Islam to defeat them. They demonize their fellow citizens all the time while finding virtue in a vile genocidal rapist Jihadi.

It’s not just the Washington Post that did it. While Washington Post called him ‘austere religious scholar’, Bloomberg, glorified al-Baghdadi by describing him as he was someone who came from a small village and then achieved great success against all odds. In India as well, we see the mainstream media try desperately to humanize terrorists. The Quint on Osama bin Laden’s sixth death anniversary looked at the terrorist’s roles as ‘a father and a husband’. Barkha Dutt, Queen of the Indian Left who is currently a columnist at the Washington Post, described terrorist Burhan Wani as the ‘son of school headmaster’.

The troubling matter here is the fact such behaviour is perfectly consistent with how they have been behaving all this time. It’s merely another step, another progress made in the long march of progressivism. The Far-Left umbrella organization Antifa has massive support among the Leftist establishment. Joe Biden, a Presidential aspirant from the Democrat part for 2020, described these violent goons who go around attacking everyone who disagrees with them as a “courageous group of Americans”. The mainstream media, too, works overtime to glorify them and brands anyone who opposes them a ‘fascist’.

The media in India is continuously trying to corner the government on the abrogation of Article 370. The Indian government refuse to tolerate any longer an Islamic state within its territory and thus abrogated Article 370, however, the Left was horrified by the decision. The globalist Left, too, has been incessantly attacking the Indian government for its actions in Kashmir. What we see in Kashmir is radical Islam terrorism at its peak. However, the Leftist political establishment and the media want India to continue to tolerate such an atrocity.

The Washington Post’s headline on Baghdadi’s death was atrocious but it was only symptomatic of a larger problem here. The Left, all over the world, has decided to ally itself with radical Islam in order to achieve its objectives. It sees virtue in terrorist leaders while demonizing their own citizens legitimate concerns that they have. It’s an extremely dangerous path they have chosen to tread and it has the potential to lead to devastating consequences.

India takes up Pakistan’s denial to use its airspace for PM Modi’s flight with International Civil Aviation Organisation

0

Miffed by this constant propensity of the neighbouring country to deviate from the well established international practice of allowing VVIP flights to use airspace, India has taken up Pakistan’s denial of overflight clearance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flight with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, government sources said on Monday.

PM Modi is travelling to Saudi Arabia later in the day on a bilateral visit. India had sought overflight clearance from Pakistan for the prime minister’s aircraft to go to Saudi Arabia. But Pakistan refused to grant the clearance for the same.

Regreting Pakistan’s decision to yet again deny overflight clearance for the VVIP special flight, India has taken up the issue with the relevant international civil aviation body, sources said.

“Overflight clearances are sought, and granted by other countries as per prescribed ICAO guidelines,” said a source. India will continue to seek such overflight clearances, govt sources added.

Citing the same old rhetorics of alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan on Sunday denied India’s request to allow Modi’s aircraft to move in its airspace for his visit to Saudi Arabia.

The India-Pakistan relation deteriotaed further after India’s bold decision to revoke Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, which was already low following Balakot airstrike. Following the terror camps were bombed by Indian airforce, Pakistan had kept its airspace shut for more than a month for all airlines.

In September, Pakistan had denied permission to India to use its airspace for PM Modi’s flight to the US. Then too, India had urged Pakistan to reconsider its old habit of misrepresenting the reasons for taking unilateral action but in vain. The feeble-minded country had then also refused to budge.

Similarly, Pakistani authorities had on September 7 refused to give India’s President Ram Nath Kovind permission to fly through its airspace for his scheduled foreign trip.

In response to a query on the denial of overflight clearance, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vijay Gokhale had said: “It’s an unfortunate situation where a country denies overflight to head of state/head of govt of another country. But it’s true when there’s a normal country. Hope Pak will realise the folly of its actions.”

Meanwhile, India’ official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, “We regret the decision of the Government of Pakistan to deny overflight clearance for the VVIP special flight for a second time in two weeks, which is otherwise granted routinely by any normal country.”

‘Let us see if he is killed in reality or not’: Pakistani senator Rehman Malik says he will believe that Al-Baghdadi is dead only after ISIS confirms it

Former Interior Minister of Pakistan, Senator Rehman Malik has raised doubts over the veracity of the claims made by the United States President Donald Trump regarding the death of the dreaded ISIS chief Al-Baghdadi. Malik, in a tweet, said that he still awaits confirmation from the ISIS over their leader’s killing rather than believing the assertions made by the United States.

Yesterday, putting all speculations to rest, the US President Donald Trump addressing the nation from the White House said that Baghdadi died ‘whimpering and crying’ along with his three children he had taken along inside the tunnel where he detonated his suicide vest.

According to reports, the ISIS head Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had killed himself by detonating a suicide vest during a raid by the US forces. Reuters reported that around February 2018 one of Baghdadi’s top aides gave information to US intelligence agencies on how one of the most dreaded terrorists evaded arrests all these years. It turns out that, to avoid detection, Baghdadi would hold strategic meetings in moving minibus packed with vegetables. Ismael al-Ethawi, a close aide of Baghdadi who fled Syria with his wife in 2017, gave information to Turkish authorities.

However, Pakistani leader Rehman Malik had placed little faith in White House and the international media agencies and more in the ISIS for them to issue a confirmation statement corroborating that their chief has been killed in an attack by the US forces. Furthermore, Malik also continued peddling gibberish saying that “the situation in Syria is confused at the cost of local blood and to save Geo-politics”. Pakistanis have often acted as apologists for the terror outfits by pinning the blame of violence and anarchy on the western countries while whitewashing the horrific atrocities committed by the terrorists.

In fact, this is not the first time that Senator Rehman Malik has acquainted people on Twitter with his low IQ. Prior to this, Malik had become the butt of all jokes when a popular parody Twitter user made him believe that P Chidambaram is being thrashed in the jail for opposing PM Modi. The Twitter user @Being_Humor shared a snap from Singham movie with Malik who confirmed in the DM that he will be sharing it with the United Nations regarding atrocities committed by India on its citizens for opposing abrogation of Article 370.

Kamlesh Tiwari murder: Investigation reveals murderers in touch with 72 radicals through WhatsApp

0

Police investigations have reportedly revealed that Raees Ahmad who was recently arrested for allegedly providing money and mobile phone to murderers of Kamlesh Tiwari was part of a WhatsApp group of 72 people who were purportedly in touch with the murderers of the Hindu leader.

According to a report by Live Hindustan, Kamlesh Tiwari’s murder was a well-plotted one wherein all the communication was done through this WhatsApp group consisting of a total of 72 members. In fact, the killers were provided shelter and logistics on the instructions of the kingpin, who communicated with everyone involved in the conspiracy via this alleged group.

The police investigating the case, suspects the kingpin to be somewhere in Bareilly, from where the Delhi-based lawyer Mohammad Naved Siddiqui had been arrested on Thursday. Siddiqui was arrested after it was revealed that he had harboured the two killers of Tiwari and had helped them cross the border into Nepal.

As per reports, Lawyer Mohammad Naved Raza Siddiqui is associated with the Bareilly-based Islamic shrine and is registered to practise at the Delhi High Court. Siddiqui had reportedly harboured Ashfaq and Moinuddin and had personally taken them to the Nepal border near Lakhimpur-Kheri’s Gauri Fanta.

Notably, police had arrested Raees Ahmad from his hometown in Palia of Kheri district along with Delhi High Court lawyer Mohammad Naved Siddiqui on October 26 taking the total number of arrest in the case to seven. Raees, who runs a mobile shop there, had reportedly provided a mobile phone and Rs 15000 to the suspects after they ran out of money on Sunday.

Moreover, one Syed Kaifi Ali, a cleric in the Bareli-based Islamic shrine was also arrested on Tuesday night. Ali had stated to the police that both the murderers, Ashfaq and Moinuddin had arrived at the shrine to meet him and Naved after killing Tiwari and had confessed to the murder on October 18.

Naved, the lawyer, had allegedly received a call from one Sadiq Sheikh from Karnataka who had asked Naved and Ali to provide all possible help to Ashfaq and Moinuddin. While Ali left for home, Naved reportedly ensured their treatment, shelter and all other help. Naved later drove the killers in his sedan to Gauri Fanta and helped them cross into the Nepal border. They had stayed with Kamran, a mobile shop owner in the Nepal side. After staying there for a day, the killer duo had decided to return to India and surrender.

Another person named Syed Asim Ali was nabbed from Nagpur by the Gujarat ATS and brought to Lucknow.

UP Police have informed that the lawyer had arranged for the killers to find local accommodation in Nepal and had himself crossed the border to ensure necessary arrangements. Naved Siddiqui had also arranged two local mobile phones and cash for Ashfaq and Moinuddin.

On October 20, Naved Siddiqui had again helped them to return to India. After talking to Ashfaq’s wife and father, the duo had decided to surrender to Gujarat ATS. They had returned to Palia in Lakhimpur Kheri and went to Delhi via Shahjahanpur. From Delhi, they had boarded the Porbandar Express to Gujarat.

The UP police have arrested 8 people so far in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder case.

The two killers, Moinuddin and Ashfaq are now being interrogated. They were reportedly cross-questioned along with the lawyer yesterday to extract more details of the murder and conspiracy.

Moinuddin, along with Ashfaq, was arrested by Gujarat ATS on October 22 from Gujarat-Rajasthan border after being on the run for four days. While Moinuddin worked as Zomato delivery boy, Ashfaq, second man arrested for the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari, worked as a medical representative in a pharma company. He had forged his colleague’s Aadhaar to pose as Rohit Solanki, a Hindu rights activist, to gain the trust of Tiwari.

It has also been revealed now that Ashfaq and Moinuddin wanted to video record the murder of Tiwari and use it to send a message to warn anyone who dares to ‘Insult Islam’.

Odisha: Man hacked to death over bursting of crackers on Diwali

0

A shocking incident of lynching has been reported from Odisha where a man was brutally hacked to death following a quarrel over the bursting of crackers on Diwali. According to the reports, Amaresh Nayak, a resident of BDA colony of Sundarpada area of Bhuwaneshwar was bursting firecrackers with his friends on Sunday when he got embroiled in a scuffle with a group of unidentified assailants who prevented Nayak and his friends from bursting crackers.

No sooner did the dispute devolved into a heated argument, after which the group of men attacked Amaresh with a sword, leaving him mortally injured. He was rushed to the hospital by his friends where the doctors declared him “brought dead”. The police have lodged a complaint and the investigation is underway even as the assailants are still at large.

As per the complaint lodged by a complainant, Amaresh and his buddies were bursting crackers and preparing a feast when a crowd of more than 20 youths reached the spot and started opposing them. In the ensuing brawl, they struck Amaresh with sword leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the Capital Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.

Debi Prasad Sethi, one of the friends of Amaresh said that the group of attackers came with a gun and sharp weapons. He said that when they were partying and bursting crackers, the group arrived and asked them to stop. “Raghua, a youth among them brandished a gun at us while two others, Kuna and Babul attacked us with sharp weapons. I somehow managed to escape the spot and informed the matter to Amaresh’s family,” Debi Prasad Sethi said.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Diwali greeting invites the wrath of rabid Islamists, gets called a “False Muslim” for sporting a tilak

Assorted Islamists descended upon social media pages of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, excoriating him for wishing his followers “Happy Diwali” and uploading a picture donning a tilak with his family. The Bollywood heartthrob shared a photo of himself, his son Abram and his wife Gauri on the occasion of Diwali on various social media platforms, following which scores of Islamic radicals ridiculed him for celebrating a Hindu festival while being a Muslim.

Soon after Shah Rukh uploaded the picture, one Twitter user called him a “false Muslim(Munafiq)” and exhorted him to wish on Eid as well. The hatred for Hindu festival so prominent that merely wishing Diwali had made Shah Rukh Khan a false Muslim according to that Twitter user.

Another Twitter user denounced tilak sporting pic of Shah Rukh Khan stating that it is a matter of shame that despite being a Muslim, Shah Rukh is fulfilling the duties of a Hindu.

Sabeeh shaming Shah Rukh Khan for celebrating a Hindu festival

Similar reactions were elicited on his post on Facebook as well. One Facebook user Fayyaz Afridi condemned the Diwali greetings posted by SRK censuring him for celebrating Diwali while being a Muslim.

Another Facebook user criticised SRK saying that it is shameful of him being just “1/2 Kilo of Muslim”.

Do let us know when you get to know what ‘1/2 kilo Muslim’ means.

This is, however, not the first time that Shah Rukh Khan is under the firing line of the Islamic fundamentalists for overtly manifesting his secular credentials and enthusiastically celebrating Hindu festivals. A month back, rabid Islamic fundamentalists questioned SRK’s Muslim identity for wishing on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Last year too he was targeted by Islamists after he had tweeted a picture of his son celebrating Ganesh Puja, Muslims had called it a ‘sin’ and had abused and condemned him.

The Islamists have shown little respect and tolerance for Hindu festivals and rituals. Their unmitigated hatred has often been exhibited in their condemnation of Muslim celebrities who are seen participating in celebrating Hindu festivals. Popular Bengali actress and a TMC MP from West Bengal, Nusrat Jahan was insulted on Facebook for celebrating Durga Puja as it was ‘inappropriate’. Cricketer Mohammad Kaif was trolled by Muslim fundamentalists for celebrating Christmas and condemned for performing the Surya Namaskar. Another cricketer Irfan Pathan was told by fundamentalists that Raksha Bandhan is ‘against Islam’ and abused when he wished everyone on a special day.

Ayodhya’s grand Deepotsav finds spot in the Guinness Book of World Records

0

The glorious Deepotsav event organised on the banks of Sarayu river in the temple town under the supervision of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has found a place in the Guinness World Records as a total 5.61 lakh earthen lamps (diyas) were illuminated on the occasion on the eve of Diwali (Saturday) at Ram Ki Paidi ghat in Ayodhya.

This year’s count of diyas lit on the riverbank far surpassed the three lakh-plus number of ‘diyas’ lit last year. The ghat was illuminated with almost five lakh sixty-one thousand diyas but at the time the Guinness book of world records representatives took the count via a drone the total number of illuminated diyas stood at four lakh ten thousand, which went on to become a new world record.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRNRwpqSspA]

Uttar Pradesh government’s Director of Information Shishir said, “Last year’s record was of three lakh one thousand one hundred eighty-six ‘diyas’ at the ghat. This time, it was four lakh 10 thousand ‘diyas’ lit at the ghat. This was announced by Guinness World Records representative and is a new record. Apart from this, more than two lakh ‘diyas’ were lit elsewhere than the ghat. In all, more than six lakh ‘diyas’ were lit.”

Days ahead of the Supreme Court verdict on the title suit over the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land, people from various walks of life came together and volunteered to light the diyas and be a part of this momentous occasion.

During the event, a symbolic descent of Lord Rama and Seeta took place, a helicopter turned into ‘Pushpak Viman’ and, the CM Yogi Adityanath and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das did the symbolic coronation of Lord Rama.

Deputy Speaker of Republic of Fiji Veena Bhatnagar, Governor Anandiben Patel and Union minister Pralhad Singh Patel were present to grace the occasion.

Days ahead of this grand festival, Yogi government had decided to grant the status of “state fair” to the upcoming festival of Deepotsav in Ayodhya. It has decided to sanction a budget of Rs 1.33 crore to organise the event.

The three-day Deepotsav is celebrated in Ayodhya during Diwali. The city is decorated with lights, earthen Diyas and artists are invited from all over the nation to display their art.

Last year too, Deepotsav was celebrated in Uttar Pradesh with great zeal and grandiosity. Three lakh ‘Diyas’ was lit on the banks of holy river Saryu to create a new world record. All prominent buildings, temples and ghats in the city were decorated while many cultural programmes were organised for the grand event. The first lady of South Korea was the chief guest on the occasion.

Yogi Adityanath had started the grand official Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya in 2017. In that year, the Sarayu ghat and the temples were all lighted with 1.5 lakh Diyas to mark the Hindu festival of lights.
