Rape and murder of veterinarian: Shadnagar Bar Association, Telangana District and Mahabubnagar Bar Councils refuse to represent murderers

Besides Ranga Reddy District Bar Council on Telangana, the Shadnagar Bar Association of a local court also denied offering legal aid to the gang-rape and murder accused. The Mahabubnagar Bar Council also denied extending legal services to the accused after the state government brought the case at the fast track court of Mahbubnagar.

The Telangana district bar council has issued a notification saying that its members would not represent the accused involved in the gruesome murder and gang-rape of the veterinary doctor Preeti Reddy (name changed) whose charred remains were found from the Shamshabad in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The notice said, “The Executive Committee of Bar Association Ranga Reddy District court condemns the brutal murder by the accused on 27/11/09 at Thondapalli toll plaza. The committee further requests the members not to represent the accused person in the case.”

The Ranga Reddy district bar council’s Executive Committee also demanded the government of Telangana to establish a separate special court for the Fastrack trial of the case and ensure swift justice. It further mentioned in the notice that the committee will stage a protest on December 2 against the “inhumane attack” against the doctor. The committee is organising a protest on December 2, 2019, at 1:30 pm at the main entrance of the court building to denounce the ghastly attack.

Preeti Reddy (name changed) was subjected to a gut-wrenching act of enormity by 4 individuals who are now under arrest. As she was returning home from work a little after 8 pm to pick her vehicle, she noticed a flat tyre. She immediately called her sister, who suggested that she leave her two-wheeler at the toll plaza and take a cab home. Before she could, two men approached her, who offered to take her vehicle for repair.

The woman was allegedly ambushed and dragged into the bushes by the accused barely 50 metres from Tondupally toll plaza behind a line of trucks that was parked near the road. Her charred body was found under an underpass.

According to police, the accused took her body to an under-construction bridge a few kilometres away and set it on fire. The police stated that the victim’s innerwear and some other objects including an alcohol bottle found around 100 metres from the spot led them to believe she was sexually assaulted before being killed.

The Telangana police have also confirmed that Preeti Reddy (name changed) was kidnapped and gang-raped. The police confirmed that a lorry driver named Mohammad Pasha from Narayanpet in Mahababub Nagar district was the main suspect in the Preeti Reddy (name changed) case. The post mortem analysis has confirmed that Preeti was gang-raped before being brutally murdered.
