Srinagar Mayor Junaid Mattu put under house arrest

Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor of Srinagar and spokesperson of J&K People’s Conference, has reportedly been put under house arrest. Mattu is amongst various other politicians in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to have been detained by the government of India in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to the state.

Earlier, former chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah were detained by the J&K police in the wake of law and order situation in the state. Since Article 370 was abrogated, the government of India fearing unrest in the valley had suspended the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and put the politicians under house arrest including bureaucrat turned politician, Shah Faesal.

As per a news report, Mattu was in New Delhi for medical treatment planned to challenge the government of India’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Supreme Court.

“Our party believes the abrogation of Article 370 is a travesty of justice that strikes at the very root of the state’s constitutional relationship with the Union. Article 370 is the pivot around which the state’s sense of unique identity existed,” Mattu said.

He further added that his party believes that Article 370 and Article 35-A is sacrosanct and non-negotiable. “We have consulted senior-most constitutional experts and luminaries and will be contesting the move in the Supreme Court. Our party chairman (Sajjad Gani Lone) has, before he was arrested, appealed to the people to maintain calm and not resort to any violent means of expressing their anguish and sense of loss.”

The central government is committed to restoring peace and development in the strife-torn Kashmir valley and it is, for this reason, it ordered the preventive detention of politicians fearing law and order situation.

‘Thanks, but my vision is fine,’ porn actor Johnny Sins takes a dig at ex-Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit for thinking he was a ‘blind Kashmiri’

There seems to be no end to humiliation faced by the terrorist state of Pakistan as former Pakistan diplomat Abdul Basit has yet again become a laughing stock and a meme material after he had confused legendary porn star Johnny Sins for a ‘Kashmiri blinded by pellets’ to further propaganda.

Following the faux pas committed by Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit, actor-par-excellence Johnny Sins took to Twitter to take a dig at Pakistan diplomat. While thanking him for helping him to get new followers, he also trolled him saying that his vision was fine.

He wrote, “Shout out to @abasitpak1 for all the new twitter followers! Thanks but my vision is fine.”

Former Pakistan Envoy Abdul Basit on Monday had gone a step further in pushing his false propaganda after he had asked the world to ‘pray for Johnny Sins’. In haste to peddle anti-India narrative, the former Pak Envoy took to Twitter to re-tweet an image of the adult movie star Johnny Sins claiming he is Yousuf from Anantnag who has been blinded by a pellet.

Basit had earlier claimed that he had managed to influence Indian soft-porn writer Shobhaa De to write in favour of Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.

Johnny Sins is a legendary pornographic actor, who has a huge fan following across the world. He has received numerous adult industry awards, including the AVN award for male performer of the year, twice. He is consistently among the most popular pornography searches.

Following global isolation, a desperate Pakistan has been subjected to ridicule across the media platforms for pushing false propaganda to further its hatred against India. Pakistan’s recent anecdotes on India’s decision to abrogate Article 370, has also been nothing but a full-fledged gag show which is getting better and better with every passing day.

Though all Pakistan’s machismo and psyops over Twitter have been busy creating an atmosphere of being at war against India, their regular gaffes exposing their low IQ has always left Twitterati in splits.

Recently Pakistan Senator Rehman Malik gave the world a sneak-peak into his pea-sized brains by tagging the ‘UNO’ game instead of ‘United Nations’ in his Tweet criticizing Modi.

It is not just limited to the Pakistani security establishment, but even Pakistani cricketers have begun to fear-monger and resort to hate propaganda against the Indians. On Monday, former cricketer Javed Miandad had gone on a ranting spree by claiming that he will now kill humans with a sword.

And while Pakistan has failed to get any international support, the shout out from Sins comes as a breath of fresh air. The actor, who is usually busy delivering pizzas to hungry girls or helping out damsels in distress fix their leaking taps, at least acknowledged the Pakistanis on a ranting spree.

Roman Catholic school in US bans Harry Potter books on ‘exorcists’ advice’ because the spells can ‘conjure evil spirits’

0

A Roman Catholic school in Tennessee, United States of America, has removed JK Rowling’s popular Harry Potter series of books from its library.

The move came after the pastor Rev. Dan Reehil felt that the magic shown in the books is a ‘clever deception’. As per reports, the pastor at St Edward Catholic school emailed parents of the children studying in the school that “several exorcists” he has been in touch with who recommended removing the books from the library. “The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells, which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text,” he said.

Turns out, Rev. Dan Reehil’s word on the matter is the final since the Catholic Church does not have an official position on Rowling’s super popular books which are enjoyed by children and adults alike across the world.

Rebecca Hammel, the superintendent of schools for Catholic Diocese of Nashville said that she was aware of the decision and that the pastor was well within his authority to take the decision.

The popular book series were published between 1997 and 2007 and has been a super hit movie franchise as well. The curses in the books include ‘unforgivable curses’ like ‘avada kedavra’, the killing curse, ‘crucio’, the torture curse and ‘imperio’, the curse which allows the wizards to control action of others which are the most powerful and sinister curses in the fictional series.

This is not the first time Harry Potter books have drawn disapproval of the Christians. The religious parents have wanted Harry Potter books banned because it ‘glorifies witchcraft and occult’ and ‘normalises magic’.

Uttar Pradesh: Rickshaw puller Javed creates fake Facebook account, befriend women using an IPS officer’s picture

0

The Bareilly police have arrested a 52-year-old rickshaw puller named Javed for allegedly operating a fake Facebook account through which he allegedly befriended women and cheated them by promising marriage. Javed had used the picture of a famous IPS officer, Nurul Hasan as his profile picture to lure these girls.

Javed, a resident of Delhi, after being nabbed by the police, confessed to his crime and made startling revelations about his interaction with these girls most of whom belong to well-to-do and educated families. The rickshaw puller confessed that he masked behind the picture of this famous IPS officer, Nurul Hasan, a 2015 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS to lure these upscale girls.

Hasan is currently posted as SP in a district of Maharashtra. Hasan, who comes from a humble background and reached the rank of IPS, is famous on social media because of this achievement.

After befriending women on social media, Javed started exchanging obscene messages and lured the girls to send him their nudes and private pictures. This continued for quite some time until a student residing in Bareilly complained about the same to the DIG.

Moreover, amongst the long list of girls whom the rickshaw puller was tricking, there was one girl named Mehnaz a resident of Bareilly, who developed an honest feeling for the swindler in the process. When she asked Javed for marriage, he stopped talking to her. After the conversation stopped, Mehnaz and his mother started contacting the real IPS officer’s father pestering him to marry off his son to the girl.

Nurul Hasan’s father tried showing all the evidence that the person the girl was chatting with on Facebook was a fake person and not his son, but the girl and her mother insisted on marrying the IPS officer. Moreover, when the mother-daughter duo failed to convince the IPS officer’s family, they started threatening and blackmailing the IPS officer. Hasan’s father was then forced to lodge a complaint against the fraudulence.

On the basis of these complaints, Bareilly Police began to investigate the matter. It soon unfolded that a rickshaw puller, a native of Delhi’s Dariyaganj area, had been operating a fake Facebook account with the picture of this IPS officer as his profile picture which helped him attract many friends on Facebook. In fact, many women IPS and PPS officers had also fallen prey to this trickster’s hoax.

Bareilly police ultimately apprehended Javed from his residence in Delhi after which he confessed to his crime.

Karnataka: Congress MLA DK Shivakumar arrested by Enforcement Directorate in money laundering case

Karnataka Congress MLA DK Shivakumar who was being grilled by the Enforcement Directorate over his alleged involvement in a money laundering case, has been arrested for ‘not cooperating’. He has been arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED had been quizzing him since last five days over his alleged involvement in money laundering case and he was formally arrested at around 8:40 PM on Tuesday, 3rd September.

As per reports, he was also questioned over his links to Sunil Kumar Sharma, the proprietor of Sharma Travels, to Karnataka Bhavan employee Anjaneya Hanumantha and Sunil Kumar Sharma’s driver N Rajendra.

The alleged money laundering by DK Shivakumar came to light after raids by the tax officials on August 2, 2017, on Shivakumar’s residence in New Delhi, which led to the seizure of unaccounted cash worth Rs.8.59 crore without evidence of its source of income.

The tax agencies had filed cases against Shivakumar and four other persons associated with him under Sections 277 and 278 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Sections 120(B), 193 and 199 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Basing on the charge sheet filed by the I-T officials, the ED had last year booked a money laundering and hawala transaction case in September last year.

Along with DK Shivakumar, his business associates Sachin Narayan, Sunil Kumar Sharma (owners of Sharma Travels) were also booked and Anjaneya Hanumant and Rajendran, the employees of Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi, where the cash was found, have also been named as the co-accused.

Rajendran is a caretaker of Karnataka Bhavan and also works for Sharma, the proprietor of Sharma Travels, which runs a luxury bus service. According to the ED, DK Shivakumar and SK Sharma had set up a hawala network to launder money from New Delhi to various parts of the country. The ED suspects that Hanumanthaiah, the employee of Karnataka Bhavan, was responsible for storing the unaccounted money.

Shivkumar has been arguing that the case against him is an I-T department case and ED has nothing to do with it.

Actor Swara Bhaskar accuses BJP MP Lallu Singh of having ‘rapist mentality’ for liking an ‘ungli’ tweet

Actor Swara Bhaskar yesterday shared her picture on Twitter on which a Twitter user passed an unsavoury remark saying “Ungli Karne me maza aa jaye”. Swara took umbrage at this tweet which was possibly in reference to her masturbation scene in the movie ‘Veere Di Wedding’ which sparked widespread controversy and was popularly known as “finger scene”.

This tweet was ‘liked’ by the BJP MP from Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency Lallu Singh following which Bhaskar posted a tweet condemning the act of the BJP MP. Bhaskar said that such actions show a deep social problem and demonstrate his mindset.

The BJP MP Lallu Singh said that his act of inadvertent error happened while he was scrolling through and expressed his apologies for the same. He further continued stating that his aim has never been to hurt the feelings of others and that Swara could obtain information on his personal and public life.

— Lallu Singh (@LalluSinghBJP) September 3, 2019

Swara attached a letter reminding Lallu Singh that he represents the people of “Maryada Purshuttam” Shri Ram’s Ayodhya and he should refrain from promoting such “rapist mentality” of people, which according to Indian cyber laws amount to online sexual harassment. Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram falls under Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency.

Swara further bemoaned stating that Singh is of her father’s age and is a member of parliament of this country. “He should be an example of how chivalrous a man should be towards women and be an epitome of Ram Rajya’s sacraments, instead of encouraging hoodlums on social media,” Swara said.

Union Minister Amit Shah meets Jagmohan, former J&K governor and saviour of Kashmiri Pandits following abrogation of Article 370

Home Minister and BJP party chief Amit Shah along with working president JP Nadda on Tuesday met former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) governor Jagmohan Malhotra in the course of BJP’s ‘Sampark Abhiyan’ which is undertaken to connect with prominent society members on the government of India’s landmark decision to abrogate Article 370.

Jagmohan (91) was the governor of J&K when the Kashmiri Pandit community suffered ethnic cleansing at the hands of Islamic fundamentalists and were forced to flee their homes in 1990. He is fondly known as the ‘saviour of Kashmiri Pandits’ for his timely intervention to save the lives of lakhs of KPs, who would otherwise have been wiped out by armed militants in the valley. Later, he also served in the cabinet of Atal Bihar Vajpayee government.

Home Minister Amit Shah took the nation by surprise on August 5, when he announced that the Union government had arrived at the historic decision to abrogate Article 370 granting special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. While common Indians and some opposition leaders including Mayawati have the government’s stand, certain elements have been trying to disrupt the peace process by resorting to fake news, in line with Pakistan agenda.

Shah and Nadda were accompanied by Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan to the meeting. The BJP has commenced its month-long public awareness campaign to spread awareness about the Centre’s bold decision to abrogate Article 370 in J&K, leading to its bifurcation into two union territories of J&K and Ladakh. As a part of this campaign, BJP is slated to rope in 2,000 prominent personalities and organise large scale meetings across 35 major cities within the country.

Jagjit Kaur finally returning to her family, Akali Dal leader Manjinder Sirsa thanks MEA, media for support on the issue

0

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder S Sirsa released a video on Twitter through, which he confirmed that Jagjit Kaur, the Sikh girl who was allegedly kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam, would finally be returning to her family today.

Kaur will be handed over to her parents after a mutual agreement was reached between the families of the boy and the girl in the house of the governor in Lahore. Sirsa confirmed that the boy’s family has not only sought an apology but also confirmed in front of the governor that they will not raise any claim on the girl in future.

The Akali leader said that he spoke to the girl’s father after the meeting. The DSGMC chief added that he has received a video from Pakistan wherein the families of both the boy and the girl are standing with the governor of Lahore and are stating that now Kaur will return to her family.

Sirsa thanked the government of India and the media for its overwhelming support on the issue and stressed this fight is not only about Kaur but also a fight for all Hindu and Sikh girls who are facing the threat of forceful conversion to Islam and are being forcibly married to Muslim men.

Sirsa also released a list of 31 Hindu and Sikh girls who were abducted forcefully, converted to Islam and then married to Muslim men during last two and a half months in Pakistan.

Today, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had also offered to help Kaur by offering her and her family to settle in India. Lambasting Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan for not being able to help Kaur, Singh tweeted that he extends his full support to the young girl and will be happy to have her and her family settle down in Punjab along with any help needed.

The 19-year-old Kaur was forcibly converted to Islam and made to marry a Muslim man. The daughter of a ‘granthi’ (priest) at Gurudwara Tambu Sahib was allegedly converted on gunpoint. Reportedly, the Pakistan man, who forcibly converted and married Sikh girl is affiliated to 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s proscribed terror outfit Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD).

It was reported on September 2 that Kaur was abducted by one of her classmates, Babar Aman, along with Mirza Dilawar Baig, who is a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party founded by current Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

There were widespread protests where PM Khan’s effigies were burnt, slogans were raised to protest abduction, forceful conversion and marriage of a Sikh girl to a Muslim man in Pakistan.

Pakistan is notoriously known for its persecution of not only religious minorities but also ethnic minorities within their own country. The forceful conversion programs have often been unleashed against the minorities especially Christians, Sikhs and Hindus living in Pakistan with utmost brutality. There have been many such cases reported in the recent past.

Recently, a report released by the Members of the European Parliament (MEP) threw light on the plight of religious minorities in Pakistan. The report claims that around 1000 girls from religious minorities are forcibly converted to Islam every year. The numbers might be higher as many cases are not even reported.

Yielding before India’s grit, strapped Pakistan restores partial trade with India

0

After an almost month-long subterfuge, Imran Khan-led Pakistan government, today made a U-turn by restoring partial trade with India. Pakistan will now resume its import of life-saving drugs from its arch-rival. These medicines include life-saving drugs for cancer, tuberculosis and cardiac problems.

Interestingly, Pakistan imports 50 per cent of raw materials for medicines from India. In total, 820 chemicals for medicines are imported by Pakistan from India. At least 62 chemicals are those on which Pakistan is entirely dependent on India. At least 23 from these 62 are those which are life-saving drugs.

Though it is Pakistan’s submerging economy which has compelled it to emendate its decision, embarrassed Pakistan has placed the rifle on the local traders’ shoulder. Pakistan has tried to make-believe that it has bowed down to domestic pressure from its traders.

But the fact is that Imran Khan’s foolhardy decision to snap bilateral trades with India in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir had resulted in a massive economic and trade shock to the already near-bankrupt state of Pakistan.

Pakistan had called in a National Security Council meeting on August 7 in which it arrived at the decision of severing trade between the two countries, downgrading bilateral diplomatic ties with India and raising the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations Security Council among other things.

Amongst other things, the prices of tomatoes and other vegetables for the parody nation had skyrocketed after Pakistan had formally suspended trade ties with India on August 10.

It is pertinent to note here, that Pakistan gets its maximum supply of tomatoes from Madhya Pradesh in India. Many farmers in Mourya, Jhabua, Shajapur, Khargone and Ratlam districts in Madhya Pradesh export tomatoes to Pakistan. The trade takes place through export agencies in Amritsar via the Attari-Wagah border. During the peak season in October-November, 50-60 trucks, each with a capacity of 15 tonnes, pass through the border every day.

Pakistan had earlier too, in a fallout of the ghastly Pulwama attack, amongst other things, suffered a crunch in the supply of tomatoes. The tomato growing farmers of Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh had then decided not to export their produce to Pakistan.

India had then tried to isolate Pakistan internationally and had levied 200% customs duty on the Pakistani goods imported. This had then resulted in a massive economic and trade shock to the already near-bankrupt state of Pakistan. Then too, the trade suspension had not affected India as much as it did Pakistan.

Notably, Pakistan does not feature among India’s top 35 exporters and importers, while India stands on the seventh position in its list of exporters. Therefore, Imran Khan’s decision to suspends trade ties with India is bound to hit the parody nation dearly.

Since India has gone ahead to revoke Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, frustrated Pakistan has been investing all its time and energy in creating tensions for India but to no avail. Pakistan has tried every trick up its sleeve from downgrading bilateral trade with India to nuclear threats.

Scindia to be sidelined again? Speculations rife as reports of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s promotion as UP in-charge emerge

As per speculations in media, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to assume the responsibility of UP in-charge for the Congress party.

Priyanka was the Congress general secretary for UP during the 2019 general elections, along with Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Speculative media reports are doing the rounds that the Congress party has reportedly decided to select Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the full-in charge of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. This comes at a time when there are reports that another party stalwart, who was once considered a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia had allegedly offered his resignation.

Scindia was selected the UP-west in charge and Priyanka was selected UP-east in charge before the 2019 General elections. However, Congress suffered one of the most humiliating defeats in its history after it managed to score only 1 seat out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. It had contested on 67 seats and lost deposits on 63 seats.

In the aftermath of the poll loss, Priyanka Gandhi was seen discussing with the local Congress leaders analysing about the reasons for Congress’ poll debacle and the possible way forward for the party in their aim to win 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, on the other hand, had shown signs of rebellion after the government abrogated Article 370, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status. In contrast to Congress party’s stand, which echoed Pakistan’s view, Scindia had welcomed the decision and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is and has always been an integral part of India.

Scindia was cast aside by the party’s top leadership and Kamal Nath was chosen to be the chief minister last year after Congress formed government in Madhya Pradesh. The Scindia faction of supporters and party workers have been at loggerheads with the Kamal Nath faction on multiple occasions.

Another controversy had developed when Jyotiraditya Scindia was claimed to have given an ultimatum to the party that he will resign if not made Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) head. Today, he said, “People are objecting. You can ask them about it. Whatever decision Congress High Command takes, I will follow it”. Last week on Friday, Scindia had issued an ultimatum that he would resign if not made the MPCC chief within 10 days. He had also skipped Priyanka Gandhi’s meeting which was scheduled on Friday.

With Scindia’s role diminishing in the party, there also have been media speculations that he might jump the sinking ship as his aspirations are being suppressed under the hegemony of dynasty politics that dominates Congress. Will Scindia toe the line and tolerate being sidelined, or he will be the rare rebel voice that finally demands what he deserves, remains to be seen.
