Mayawati slams Congress and opposition parties over Kashmir visit, says govt should be given time

BSP supremo Mayawati has slammed the Congress and other opposition parties for their attempted visit to Kashmir. Criticising their intention behind the visit Mayawati stated that the opposition leaders should rather have waited and given the government some time to normalise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking to Twitter, the BSP leader, who had supported the central government’s decision over Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir slammed the Congress and other parties for trying to politicise a delicate situation.

Mayawati stated that Babasaheb Ambedkar was never in support of Article 370 because he was for establishing India’s sovereignty and was a believer of equality. She stated that this was the reason she and her party had supported the government over the decision.

She further stated that the government’s step has come 69 years after India’s constitution was implemented and it will take some time for the situation to be normal there. She asserted that even the Supreme Court has stated that the government should be given some time to handle the situation.

Mayawati added further that in this situation, it was not appropriate for the Congress and other opposition parties to go to Kashmir and attempt to politicise the situation. She further asserted that the parties should have waited and thought over their actions before going to Kashmir.

It is notable here that Mayawati was one of the prominent regional leaders who had supported the government’s decision regarding Article 370 despite being a part of the opposition.

Andhra CM and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, BJD’s Naveen Pattnaik were the other party leaders outside the NDA with considerable parliament representation that had supported the government and had contributed to the bills being passed in both houses with an overwhelming majority.

In a historic event, Jammu and Kashmir flag removed from state secretariat, only Indian flag to be hoisted

In a historic event, the state flag was removed from the Civil Secretariat building in Srinagar on Sunday days after withdrawal of the special privileges of Kashmir. Only Indian national flag will be hoisted atop the building from now on, reports ANI.

According to the reports, the separate flag of Jammu and Kashmir, which existed before the abrogation of Article 370 was removed from the civil secretariat on Sunday. Since Jammu and Kashmir no longer enjoys the autonomy that it had since independence, it will no longer enjoy separate status and its right to sport a separate flag.

Earlier, under the special status granted by Article 370 in the Constitution, Jammu and Kashmir had the freedom of flying two flags — its own state flag and the Indian national flag. The red-coloured flag with three stripes was used to reflect the three regions of the state – Kashmir valley, Jammu and Ladakh. The plough in the flag is representative of farmers of the state.

In 1952, the state constituent assembly had made the flag its official flag. Earlier this month, in a historic decision the Narendra Modi government had revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 and bifurcated the state into two Union territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt may join BJP ally Rashtriya Samaj Paksh in Maharashtra ahead of assembly elections

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is all set to re-enter politics after ten years of making his debut as reports have emerged that he will be now joining Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP), a BJP ally in Maharastra.

According to the reports, Sanjay Dutt, who had once joined the Samajwadi Party is set to re-enter politics, according to a minister from Maharashtra. 60-year old Sanjay Dutt is expected to join the Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP) on September 25, said party founder and Cabinet minister in Maharashtra government, Mahadev Jankar on Sunday. The RSP is a junior ally of the ruling BJP in Maharashtra.

Mahadev Jankar said the RSP was tapping the film industry to expand his party. The RSP mainly represents ‘Dhangar’ or the shepherd community.

“We have started working in the film sector as well to expand our party. As part of which, actor Sanjay Dutt is also joining the Rashtriya Samaj Paksh on September 25,” said Jankar, who is the Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development in Maharashtra government.

In the event, a pre-recorded video of the actor greeting the RSP and addressed Jankar as his “brother” was also played.

However, as reported by ANI, Sanjay Dutt will only campaign for the RSP in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. There is no official confirmation from Sanjay Dutt’s side as he has not released any press statement regarding his reentry into electoral politics.

The RSP is a junior ally in the BJP-led NDA since the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Out of the six candidates, RSP candidate Rahul Kul had won from Daund seat.

Previously, RSP chief Jankar had unsuccessfully contested against NCP chief Sharad Pawar from Madha Lok Sabha constituency in 2009.

In 2009, Sanjay Dutt had joined Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate to contest from the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency but withdrew after the court refused to suspend his conviction under the Arms Act. However, he was later appointed as the general secretary of the SP but resigned and subsequently quit the party.

Late Sunil Dutt, the father Sanjay Dutt, had represented Mumbai North-West constituency from the Congress party for five terms. He had also served as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in the UPA-I government during 2004-May 2005 before his death. Sanjay Dutt’s sister Priya Dutt is a former MP of the Congress from Mumbai.

Jammu and Kashmir: Stone pelters in South Kashmir kill 42 year old local truck driver

In a horrific incident on Sunday, protesters in Kashmir killed a civilian truck driver after stone-pelters attacked him in Bijbehara of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, reports ANI.

According to the reports, 42-year-old Noor Mohammed Dar, a resident of the same Zradipora Uranhall locality, was returning home in his truck when stone-pelters hurled stones at it, a police officer said.

Reportedly, the stone pierced the glass and injured the driver in the head. He was soon rushed to the nearby Bhijbhera hospital, from where he was referred to SKIMS Soura, the police officer said. However, Dar had already succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital, the official said.

The police soon identified the person who threw stones at the driver and arrested him. The accuses Kashmiri stone pelter has been slapped with a murder case against him at Bhijbhera police station, the official said.

The valley has been mostly calm after the abrogation of Article 370 which revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s separate status and made it an integral part of the country. The government of India even bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The move of the government has been largely welcomed by Indians.

Amidst ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants, 6 Bulandshahr violence accused welcomed with garlands after being released on bail

In a video which has been going viral on social media, six men accused of instigating mob violence that led to the killing of police inspector Subodh Singh in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on December 3, 2018, are being seen welcomed with garlands amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ after being released on bail yesterday.

The six accused- Shikhar Agarwal, Hemu, Upendra Raghav, Jeetu Fauji, Saurav and Rohit Raghav were not only welcomed with garlands but the supporters also took turns at clicking selfies and pictures with them.

The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh had given its permission on June 28 to slap sedition charges on 44 persons accused of inciting violence in Chingravati area of Bulandshahr which claimed lives of two people, including that of one police personnel.

A bloodthirsty mob had run riot in the region after locals had discovered carcasses of cows in a field in Mahav village near Chingravati, Bulandshahr on December 3rd last year. Angered with police inaction even after repeated complaints, the mob had clashed with the police. The protest turned violent where the police inspector Subodh Singh accidentally shot Sumit, a 17-year-old boy. Inspector Singh too died after he was shot at by someone in the mob.

Following the arrest of Prashant Natt, the man accused of killing Inspector Subodh Singh, the Uttar Pradesh Police had arrested one more youth, Kalua, on January 1, 2019, who had allegedly attacked Inspector Singh with an axe.

Some reports had then suspected a larger political conspiracy in the Bulandshahr cow slaughter case. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, too, had called the violence a political conspiracy hatched by those who had lost their political grounds.

“Give me majority, I will teach Modi how to govern”: Former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy

Less than a month after the coalition Congress-JDS government in Karnataka collapsed, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that he would teach PM Modi how to govern if people of the state elect him with a majority in the future elections.

In a video tweeted by veteran journalist Vishweshwar Bhat, former Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy can be heard asking people to give him a majority in the elections so that he can reform the state. He further claims that he would teach Prime Minister Narendra Modi how to govern if people of Karnataka gives him a clear majority.

“Give me majority, I will show to reforms in the state. This is a challenge to me. Modi runs the government by only making promises. If I get a clear majority, I will also reach Modi how to govern,” said HD Kumaraswamy.

Interestingly, Janata Dal party and HD Kumaraswamy never accepts their inability to secure a majority in the legislative elections but rather blame the voters for not giving them a majority in the elections. In the last 2018 state elections, Janata Dal-Secular had only managed to win 38 out of the 224 seats. Kumaraswamy had become CM only with the support of the Congress party, which had won more seats in the elections.

After getting conned by the Congress party, JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy seems to be still nurturing his dream of returning back to power in the state of Karnataka. With a limited presence in the state, particularly to some districts in Old-Mysore region, the former Prime Minister HD Devegowda led JDS is fighting for its relevance in the state politics.

AIATF chairman and ex-Congress minister MS Bitta slams TOI journalist for not supporting abrogation of Article 370

While most people belonging to the Congress ecosystem have voiced their dissent over the abrogation of Article 370, the all India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) chairman and former chief of the Indian Youth Congress, Maninderjeet Singh Bitta shared a video on his Facebook homepage where he can be seen slamming a Times of India journalist for not supporting Modi-led government’s move of revoking the separate status of Jammu and Kashmir and dividing it into two Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

MS Bitta captions his post: “Abhi bhi desh mein bahut deshdrohi hain jinko Dhara 370 hatane se pareshani hain” roughly translated as, “there are still many traitors in the country who are getting hassled by the abrogation of Article 370”.

In the video, MS Bitta can be heard lauding PM Narendra Modi for his bold decision. Slamming the TOI reporter he says: “Aap kaahe ke patrakar hain? Modi ne itna bada kaam kar diya..aap logo par koi asar nahi kya? (How can you even claim to be a journalist? Modi has accomplished such a big task and it does not even affect you all?). He goes on to ask: “aap Hindustani hain? kya aap ek Bhartiya hain? (are you an Indian?), “if you are a proud Indian that you should be saluting to what Modi has done” (agar aap Hindustani ho toh Modi ne jo kiya hain usko salute karo na…), said a visibly irked MS Bitta to the TOI reporter.

Before walking away, Bitta damns the journalist by saying: if you do not understand the contributions made by Modi then you are not fit to be called a true patriot.

Earlier also the ex-Congress minister had called for a vote in Parliament on the revocation of Article 370 and 35A of the Constitution, saying it will help the nation identify the “traitors”. “Parliament is in session and the government should hold a vote to know who wants revocation of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution. The nation will come to know about the nationalists and the traitors,” Bitta told reporters.

Expressing confidence that Modi will end terrorism in Kashmir soon, Bitta had then alleged that a handful of people, funded by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI, are defaming Kashmir and harming the local businesses.

Bitta had lost a leg in a bomb attack on July 7, 1992, that killed 13 people in Punjab’s Amritsar city. He survived another deadly attack on September 11, 1993, at Indian Youth Congress premises in Delhi as its president in which nine people were killed and 36 others wounded. Attacking the Congress government in Delhi in 2013, Bitta had accused the then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of backstabbing him by withdrawing his security. He had said his party dumped him and left to die despite him being on terrorists’ hit list.

Meanwhile, despite few exceptions, Congress has refused to accept the Abrogation of Article 370 and demanded that the “wrong decision” of revoking Article 370 be reversed. While the majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed this bold move, Congress party and its ecosystem have desperately attempted to create a false narrative by deliberately repeating the Pakistani line on J&K.

Congress congratulates PV Sindhu for making ‘her’ nation proud, people wonder which nation Congress belongs to

A tweet by the official Twitter handle of the Congress party has raised a very unusual question, do they consider India to be their own nation?

The tweet in question is a congratulatory message to P V Sindhu, who created history today by becoming the first India to win the BWF World Championships gold medal. The new world badminton champion won the title by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the 2019 BWF World Championships held in Basel, Switzerland.

While congratulating PV Sindhu for her achievement, Congress party tweeted, ‘You have made your nation proud’, which prompted many to wonder whether Congress does not consider PV Sindhu’s country to be theirs also.

Congress party was immediately questioned by alert social media users for saying ‘your nation’ instead of ‘our nation’. People wondered if Congress does not think PV Sindhu has not made their nation proud, which nation actually they belong to.

Many people on Twitter speculated that the Congress party considers either Pakistan or Italy as their nation, not India.

This faux-pass by the Congress party comes at the time when the party is seen on the same side as Pakistan on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Both Congress and Pakistan have opposed the abrogation of Article 370, and Pakistani media and politicians are regularly using comments made by Congress leaders to attack India on the issue.

Congress NSUI National secretary ‘proud’ of shameful vandalisation of Savarkar’s bust by collegues, calls freedom fighter ‘gaddar’

The politics behind the installation of the bust of Veer Savarkar in the Delhi university reached its crescendo with the authorities of the university being forced to pull down Savarkar statue under pressure from National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

The president of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), Shakti Singh of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), on Tuesday installed busts of the three historical figures at the North Campus of the university without seeking approval from the university or civic authorities.

Following the installation, Congress-affiliated NSUI Delhi wing president Akshay Lakra blackened the bust of Veer Savarkar to protest against its unauthorised installation. Lakra along with other activists also put a shoe garland around Savarkar’s statue.

Yesterday in another despicable low, the National general secretary of NSUI has taken to Twitter to not only endorse the shameful act carried out by her associate but to also defame India’s freedom fighter by calling him a ‘Deshdrohi’ and ‘Gaddar’ (traitor).

Surbhi Dwivedi took to Twitter to say: We r proud of @akshaylakra17 for blackening the face of a Deshdrohi who used to write mercy petitions to the britishers & was involved in the killing of Gandhiji. Gaddar Savarkar doesn’t deserve to be placed beside the freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country.

This is, however, not surprising as the adherent is just toeing in lines with its bosses which in this case is the Congress party. Hatred for Veer Savarkar is not new for Congress. Congress has a history of harassing Savarkar since 1910 when Jawaharlal Nehru refused to donate for Savarkar, according to an article by Shreerang Godbole in weekly Organiser in 2004. Read to know.

Moreover, Veer Savarkar was jailed for false charges in the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. Later Savarkar was released when no evidence was found against him. Since then, except for a small period of time under Indira Gandhi, Congress has always tried to malign and defame Savarkar and neglected his glorious contribution to the independence struggle.

The Congress Party, its president Rahul Gandhi and others of the ‘secularist’ school of thought have repeatedly insulted the great revolutionary and freedom fighter Swatantryaveer Savarkar (meaning of it is ‘Hero of Independence’ Savarkar), and called him a ‘traitor’ for his ‘mercy petitions’ to the British while he was in jail in the Andamans, where he was incarcerated from 1911 to 1921. In reality, those petitions were a ‘strategic letter of ploy’ to get out of jail, for which Savarkar should be praised.
