“Huge fan”: US-India Strategic Partnership Forum’s chairman John Chambers calls PM Modi world’s best leader

0

John Chambers, the Chairman of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labelling him the “best leader in the world today.”

Former tech titan Chambers highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s remarkable 76 per cent approval rating and his unique ability to build trust.

“One thing about your prime minister, and obviously I’m a huge fan. I think he’s the best leader in the world today. And I wish we had somebody like that in the US. We haven’t got a political leader who has over 50 per cent approval rating, and Prime Minister Modi has 76 per cent,” Chambers, who is known for his influential role in the tech industry, remarked during an interview with a private channel.

Chambers also emphasised the significance of a leader’s track record, relationships, and trust-building abilities. He commended PM Modi for forming relationships with every political leader in the United States, citing the Prime Minister’s ability to garner trust from the people.

“If you think about a leader, it’s about their track record. It’s about their relationships and trust. He’s formed a relationship with every political leader we’ve had in the US. The people trusting,” Chambers added.

In 2022, India and US marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The two nations enjoy a comprehensive global strategic partnership covering almost all areas of human endeavour, driven by shared democratic values, convergence of interests on various issues and vibrant people-to-people contacts.

Earlier in December, USISPF President and CEO Mukesh Aghi said diplomatic momentum gained during the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden paved the way for a “concrete strategic roadmap” and new initiatives between India and the US in several areas.

“The diplomatic momentum gained during the visits of Prime Minister Modi and President Biden paved the way for a concrete strategic roadmap and new dialogues and initiatives in multifaceted areas such as clean energy cooperation, education, space collaboration, semiconductors, quantum computing, drone technology, artificial intelligence, with accelerated joint projects such as manufacturing GE F-414 jet engines in India, putting India in the elite club of countries with such manufacturing capability,” Aghi said.

In June last year, PM Modi travelled to the US for a State visit. US President Joe Biden had invited PM Modi for a State visit. He also addressed a joint meeting of Congress before a State dinner at the White House. Later, US President Biden travelled to India to attend the G20 Summit under India’s Presidency.

After weeks of protest by Sandeshkhali women and HC rapping Mamata govt , Bengal police arrests TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan

After weeks of Sheikh Shahjahan attacking ED officials and the Sandeshkhali women protesting against the TMC leader for raping them and grabbing their lad, the West Bengal Police seems to have finally located the TMC leader and arrested him.

ANI reported that the West Bengal Police arrested Sheikh Shahjahan from the Minakhan area in North 24 Parganas. The SDPO said that the TMC leader would be taken to Basirhat Court at 2 PM today (Thursday, 29th February).

Popularly referred to as ‘Betaj Badshah‘ TMC’s Shahjahan Sheikh is an influential person in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, an area that is adjacent to the Bangladesh border. Women from the area have accused him and his accomplices of sexual abuse, intimidation and rape. “You may be the husband but you cannot exercise your right. They would take your wife away for nights at a stretch. They would not release the women from their captivity until they were fully satisfied. They have 20-30 goons with them. They would come in bikes and exercise their writ in the village,” a woman narrated the horrifying ordeal.

Despite continuous protests by hundreds of victims and constant outrage by the opposition as well as the media, Mamata Banerjee’s administration took weeks to arrest the strongman. The Block Development Officer (BDO) has received more than 700 complaints against him in six days. He was also the mastermind behind the assault on Enforcement Directorate officials who had reached to execute a raid on his residence as part of an investigation into the ration scam.

The arrest of Sheikh Shahjaha comes after continuous protests by the women of Shandeshkhali, BJP and the High Court coming down heavily on Mamata Banerjee’s administration for failing to arrest the TMC leader.

On 20th February, the Calcutta High Court rapped the Mamata Banerjee-led-West Bengal government for failing to arrest ‘absconding’ Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sheikh Shahjahan, responsible for the violence and unrest in Sandeshkhali village. During the hearing, the court observed, “He (Sheikh Shahjahan) cannot be encouraged by State dispensation. There is a prima facie material to show he has done damage…”

“This person cannot be on the run. Obviously, there will be law and order problem. He is a public representative. He cannot be defying law. Let’s see whether he can appear before the Court,” it noted.

The Calcutta High Court then directed the accused Trinamool Congress leader to surrender before the law enforcement authorities. “In the suo motu matter, we will ask him to surrender here… One person cannot hold entire population to ransom,” it added.

The Calcutta High Court further observed, “It is almost more than 18 days. One person who is cause for entire problem being precipitated is still on the run. We don’t know whether he is being protected or not but is not being able to be secured.”

Pertinently, only yesterday, Suvendu Adhikari had said that Sheikh Shahjahan was in the safe protection of Mamata Banerjee and her administration. It almost appears as though Adhikari’s predictions have come true.

The BJP leader claimed that he was nabbed from Bermajur – II Gram Panchayat area by the police, but he managed to negotiate a deal through influential mediators, and after that, he will be properly taken care of while he will be in police and judicial custody. Adhikari further claimed that the TMC leader will get 5-star facilities in custody.

Adhikari wrote, “The Scoundrel of Sandeshkhali – Seikh Shahjahan is in the safe custody of Mamata Police since 12 am last night. He was taken away from the Bermajur – II Gram Panchayat area, after he managed to negotiate a deal with the Mamata Police, through influential mediators, that he would be taken care of properly while in Police and Judicial Custody.”

The BJP leader added, “He will be extended 5 Star facilities during his time behind bars and will have access to a mobile phone, through which he will be able to lead the Tolamool Party virtually. Even a bed in the Woodburn Ward will be kept ready and vacant for him if he chooses to spend some time there.”

Chhattisgarh: House allotted under PM Awas Yojana converted into a church, 25 tribals convert to Christianity, Hindu organisation demands probe

0

A shocking case of mass religious conversion has come to light from Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara area where more than 25 members of the tribal community converted to Christianity. As per reports, the religious conversions took place in houses built under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PM Housing Scheme). The Christian symbol ‘cross’ has been marked outside some of the houses.

Following the incident of mass religious conversion, several Hindu organisations expressed outrage and lodged a complaint with the administration. It is alleged that the tribals were converted with allurement as they were promised better healthcare and economic benefits. Notably, conversion by force or allurement is punishable by law.

According to media reports, the case pertains to the Khamhariya area of the Bemetara police station. The members of Hindu organisations discovered that five families from the Gond community, residing in Ward Number 13 had changed in terms of their worship practices and lifestyle. It was also noted that earlier these families used to go to Raipur for prayers. However, they have started visiting a house built under PM Awas Yojana which is near their own home.

It is alleged that all of them have converted this house into a church and hold daily prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. It is said that the converted families previously earned their livelihood through scrap dealing along with dancing and singing. Although their occupations are still traditional, they have all changed their lifestyle.

Hindi outlet Hari Bhoomi’s ground report reveals that those who converted to Christianity claim that going to church has helped a sick woman named Guddi. According to them, prayers at the church also helped them in increasing their income and overcoming addiction. As per Hari Bhoomi’s report, some of the individuals who have converted to Christianity are Lambha Sonvani, Basamund Jogi, Murli Jogi, and Devki Chhedaiya.

Earlier, all of them used to go to churches in cities like Durg, Raipur, Bhilai, and Kawardha for prayers. Later they turned a house built under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme into a church. This is said to be the only ‘church’ in the entire tehsil area. Further, some books associated with the Christian faith, along with the symbol of the cross, were seen in this house.

The 25 people from five tribal families who have converted to Christianity claim that they haven’t got their caste certificates yet. They also claim that they haven’t received any benefit from government schemes. They believe that after converting, the loans they get are because of Jesus. With this money, they’ve paid for their car. They claim life has gotten better for them since they converted.

As soon as the case came to light, Hindu organisations demanded action against the group responsible for converting 25 members. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has also demanded the sealing of houses built under the PM Housing Scheme where cross symbols are present. Bemetara’s District Magistrate Ranveer Sharma has assured an investigation into the matter and appropriate action.

Modi govt constructed 3.3 crore homes for people who had the dreams of owning a permanent home: Know how PM Awas Yojana changed lives of poor

Ten years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration are coming to a conclusion. The Lok Sabha elections will be announced within two weeks. PM Modi has become the fourth prime minister with a decade-long term. Hence it is imperative to assess his work. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is one of the most prominent programs that the prime minister has mentioned regularly in his speeches, according to analysis.

One of the most basic necessities of all people is a house, residence, dwelling or whatever one might choose to call it. The first house is believed to have been constructed around 72,000 years ago. Afterwards, many developments transpired and house construction methods also evolved. Almost 67 years have passed since our nation gained its independence in 1947, yet a sizable portion of the populace still lacked a secure roof over their heads. The nation became synonymous with thatched and straw houses.

Numerous programs were implemented in the interim, but a vast number of the citizens were unable to acquire even one house. The nation was not advanced to the point where people could construct their places and like all other sectors, the government lagged in this second as well. However, over the last few years, the situation has dramatically shifted. The ramshackle and shabby houses that formerly people even hesitated to step in disappeared from those regions of the country’s towns and cities. Brick homes have replaced the thatched roofs and the shoddy houses. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana plays the most significant part in this.

Cityscapes were transformed by the PM Awas Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has two different kinds of schemes. One initiative is for the construction of homes in cities, while the other is for the removal of rudimentary dwellings from villages. In June 2015, the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) was introduced.

Its goal was to replace the substandard places constructed in the city’s slums and other places with concrete structures. The government started a program in metropolitan areas where the poorer segments of the population would receive Rs 2.5 lakh to build concrete houses. Under this, the beneficiary works with the government to prepare a home on his property. Some recipients obtain easy loans from the government.

According to a dashboard outlining the program, 1.18 crore houses have been cleared for building nationwide since June 2015 by the authorities. Among these, foundations of 1.14 crore have already been laid. The country’s urban areas have 80.35 lakh furnished homes. 34 lakh houses are undergoing various phases of construction at present.

The Modi administration has invested Rs 1.56 lakh crore to guarantee that every house in India’s urban areas is completely developed. The beneficiary receives the money directly into their account. The centre has declared that it will now contribute Rs 50,000 crore under the project to reach the goal of permanent houses. Furthermore, the central administration has extended this program until December 2025 to house all of India’s homeless people.

Sunita, who lives in a town panchayat in the Uttar Pradesh district of Lakhimpur Kheri has been given a house under the program. She sells flowers outside a temple. Sunita stated that her income was insufficient to build a house. “Until seven years ago, half of the house was unroofed and the other half was plastered. The lack of a sturdy roof caused a lot of problems in the rain. It also meant enduring the sun and the cold. Additionally, there was no electricity connection,” she recounted explaining the circumstances before receiving the benefits of the program.

She has been granted accommodation through this scheme. She has constructed a concrete home and demolished their primitive abode. This house was built by Sunita and her family using savings as well as implying their efforts. Sunita now resides in a permanent house. There are two rooms in it. The fact that the house is permanent has allowed them to take advantage of many more programs.

Houses with temporary roofs removed from hamlets

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) scheme was launched in 2016, a year after the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in cities. It aimed to eliminate crude houses even from the remote areas of the country and provide permanent housing to all. The government decided to carry out this program by providing Rs 1.20 lakh per household to the inhabitants of the nation’s villages. However, the amount is slightly higher in hilly regions. Technology was also used by the government for this purpose. The locations of houses were geotagged.

The country’s rural areas have received approval for 2.94 crore residences under this program as of now. Out of these, 2.57 crore houses have been constructed. The central government intends to erect 2.95 crore houses, although there is currently room for expansion. 3.24 crore people have signed up for this plan to date. In the initial year of the program, 2016 to 2017, just 2,115 homes were established, however, in 2017 to 18, 44.93 lakh homes were built under the program. This number has been rising annually ever since.

The scheme goes further in empowering women

Scheduled Caste/Tribe is the largest group to benefit from this strategy. Of the homes built under the program, 44% have been awarded to SC/ST applicants. Minorities also receive 13% of the residences. Moreover, this program has been very important in empowering women. Women have been granted joint or sole ownership in 72% of the properties that have been constructed under the program. This scheme’s benefits also materialize promptly. 77% of the homes covered under it were completed in a year.

Over 3.3 crore new homes have been built in towns and cities as a result of the program to this point. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has raised people’s living standards while also promoting social transformation. At the moment, the government wants to provide housing to those living in slums. The government is acting on these concerns in an important manner.

Shashi Tharoor hit by MeToo allegation, victim reaches out to SC lawyer with harassment account, lawyer says ready to place it in the court

On Wednesday (28th February), Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai made an explosive claim that a victim had approached him to share allegations against senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor. Taking to X, Dehadrai shared purported screenshots of the conversation where the victim claimed that on two separate encounters, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor made her ‘uncomfortable’ with his behaviour.

Claiming that the Congress MP should be behind bars, Dehadrai wrote, “THIS is Shashi Tharoor’s reality – sickening and grotesque – this vile man should be in jail. Happy to place this under sealed cover to protect the victim’s identity before any Court in India.”

Notably, in the screenshot of the purported chats, the victim claimed that she had been a fan girl of Shashi Tharoor. But on two occasions, she had to endure his “creepy stare”.

According to her claim, she felt like sharing her ordeal with Dehadrai because he had tweeted posts related to Shashi Tharoor which made her realise that, “it may be the man’s pattern”.

As per her account, she was present at the launch of Shashi Tharoor’s book B. R. Ambedkar: The Man Who Gave Hope to India’s Dispossessed, which happened in October 2022. Back then, Tharoor was running for the post of Congress President. After the book launch event, she had a little conversation with Shashi Tharoor stating that he was his huge admirer. She added that when they shook hands, she felt ‘uncomfortable’.

(screengrab of purported chats)

“Towards the end when we sort of shook hands, it was really weird cuz I felt him pressing my hand very uncomfortably and painfully. And for all of the conversation his eyes were literally glued to my chest which again was v v uncomfortable,” the purported chats read.

Going further in the conversation, the victim adds that she doesn’t know why in the first instance, she thought it was “unintentional” adding, “I genuinely couldn’t believe that the guy I had always like fan girled over could be like this.”

Alleging that it happened again, she gave details about another event where she again met with Shashi Tharoor. As per her claim, the second encounter took place at Amrit Mathur’s book launch.

She further alleged, “But again when I met him at another event (Amrit Mathur’s book launch) he was again talking to me with creepy stares.”

Regarding her decision to open up with the Supreme Court lawyer Jai Dehadrai, she noted, “I just felt like sharing this with you cuz when I saw your tweet I realised that maybe that’s the man’s pattern. It’s unfortunate. But anyways just wanted to give you huge props for standing up to (redacted name) can’t even tell you the horrendous stories I’ve heard from people about her as a person. I’m sure it isn’t easy standing up to these bullies. But you’ll do well for sure Stay strong!”

The earlier tweet of advocate Dehadrai related to Shashi Tharoor, being referred to in the chats, was reportedly posted on 8th December, last year in which, Jai tweeted, “Shashi Tharoor should be in jail, not in parliament.”

Notably, Jai Anand Dehadrai is reportedly the estranged ‘ex’ of TMC MP Mahua Moitra. The allegations of cash-for-query against Ms. Moitra stem from Dehadrai’s claims. Notably, on 15th October, BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey leveled serious allegations of bribery against Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra, based on details provided by advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai. In his complaints, Advocate Dehadrai alleged that Moitra was paid in cash and gifts for asking questions in Parliament that favored tycoon Darshan Hiranandani’s business interests.

Modi govt is determined to uproot terrorism: Amit Shah announces banning of 2 factions of Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir

In another stringent action against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the union government on 28 February banned two extremist organisations operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Bhat faction). The two groups have been declared as Unlawful Associations with immediate effect for a period of five years under Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the ban in a post on X today. He reiterated that the Modi government is committed to the cause of eradication of terrorism and strict action would be initiated against those found involved in such activities.

In the tweet, he declared, “Striking terror networks with undiminished vehemence the government has declared the Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Bhat faction) as Unlawful Associations. These outfits have been engaging in activities against the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s government is determined to uproot terrorism and anyone involved in unlawful activities will face dire consequences.”

As per a statement by the home ministry, Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction) are involved in unlawful activities and supporting terrorist activities to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India, which is prejudicial to the sovereignty, security and integrity of India. Many criminal cases have been registered against both the groups and their members under various sections of law including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Notably, the union government on 27th February Textended the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir for another five years with immediate effect declaring it as an “unlawful association.” Amit Shah informed of the significant development of X and added that any challenge to the country’s security would met with severe repercussions.

He posted, “Pursuing PM Narendra Modi Ji’s policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and separatism the government has extended the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, Jammu Kashmir for five years. The organisation is found continuing its activities against the security, integrity and sovereignty of the nation. The outfit was first declared an ‘Unlawful Association’ on 28 February 2019. Anyone threatening the security of the nation will face ruthless measures.”

A Ministry of Home Affairs notification read, “The Jamaat-e-Islami, Jammu and Kashmir (hereinafter referred to as the JeI) has been indulging in activities, which are prejudicial to internal security and public order and have the potential of disrupting the unity and integrity of the country.”

The government’s decision followed days after searches by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a terror funding case were conducted on the Jamaat-e-Islami chapter in Kashmir. More than Rs 20 lakh and incriminating documents and digital devices relating to the activities of Jamaat and its affiliated Trusts were seized during the raids conducted in Srinagar, Jammu, Budgam, Kulgam and Anantnag.

An NIA spokesperson revealed, “The investigations in the case, registered on February 5, 2021, have so far revealed that JeI and its members have continued to promote terrorist and secessionist activities in J&K even after the outfit was proscribed under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in February 2019.”

The J&K State Investigation Agency (SIA) took possession of many assets owned by the Jamaat in four districts of the Kashmir Valley in December 2022, valued at Rs 100 crore. A ban on access and use was imposed on the assets, which were dispersed among twelve sites in the districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, and Kupwara and were valued at almost Rs 100 crore.

The ban, which was first put in place in February 2019 in the wake of the terror attack in Pulwama that claimed the lives of forty paramilitary CRPF members was extended as the Union Territory prepared for this year’s Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

The radical Jamaat-e-Islami J&K has long been at the centre of the Kashmir dispute, supporting separatist ideas and contesting Indian sovereignty over the area. It adheres to the teachings of Hasan Al Banna, Syed Qutb and Maulana Maududi which state that politics and society must be in line with Sharia. It backs Pakistan’s illegal claim to Kashmir. The Hizbul Mujahideen, the largest indigenous terrorist group in Kashmir was regarded as JeI’s military wing in the 1990s. Security services suspected that even though the JeI publicly disassociated itself from the Hizbul in 1997, it is still secretly supporting the outfit.

US soldier burns himself to death protesting against ‘genocide in Palestine’, Muslims call him Kafir regardless

0

A US soldier recently set himself ablaze outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington while shouting ‘Free Palestine’. According to US media, the US soldier took the extreme step of self-immolation calling it an “extreme act of protest”, before setting himself on fire. As per his statements, he did it as a mark of ‘protest’ against the ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza saying that he would “no longer be complicit in genocide”.

The US soldier also filmed the horrifying act of self-immolation and live-streamed it on the social media platform Twitch. It’s unclear who posted the video, but it matches the details given by the police. A man in military uniform calls himself Mr. Bushnell and says he’s an active-duty Air Force officer.

In the video, the man could be heard repeating the tropes often repeated by Jihadis and opponents of Israel. Referring to Israel as colonizers, he accused the Jewish nation of committing the so-called genocide in Palestine. “I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all,” the man was quoted saying by the New York Times.

Following the incident on Sunday, he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries which resulted in his demise. A US Air Force spokeswoman Rose M. Riley shared details regarding the incident and the deceased US soldier while confirming his death. The deceased US Soldier was later identified as Aaron Bushnell (25) a resident of Whitman, Massachusetts. He was serving on active duty since 2020.

Even after the US soldier Bushnell took the extreme step of self-immolation for Palestine, a rallying issue for the Islamic world, several social media users particularly Islamists denounced his support for Palestine saying that he was a ‘kafir’. Several Islamists fumed that as a non-believer of Islam and not faithful to Allah, he deserved it adding that he even doesn’t deserve mercy.

Pertinent to note that Kafir is a pejorative jibe used by Islamists to refer to anyone who doesn’t believe in Islam, polytheists, and idol worshippers even calling for direct harm (annihilation of their existence). Click here to read what kaafir means and how Allah punishes them, as per Islamic scriptures.

An X (Twitter) user by the handle ‘TweetsByZaid’ wrote, “Aaron Bushnell is in HeII (fire emoticon) He’s Kafir & committed suicide. No Prayers for him. No R.I.P. Approx. 30,000 Palestinians have been murdered by Israel. Talk about them. This is what Prophet Muhammad said about a man who fought bravely but committed suicide.”  The user also shared an excerpt from Sahih al-Bukhari 6606.

Another user wrote, “Look at this idiot. Calling someone Khawarij because that person called Aaron Kafir. Let us examine Aaron. He didn’t believe in Allah & His Messenger. Also, He Committed suicide. Either way, Jannah is forbidden for him.”

Sharing a reaction of some Islamist, popular X user The Skin Doctor wrote, “A US soldier Aaron Bushnell immoIated himself in front of the Israeli embassy in the USA to support a free Palestine. Here are a few of the comments in his obituary:”

An X user Sahabat Mie Instan tweeted, “The worst Muslim is superior to the best disbeliever. The Prophet ﷺ was forbidden from praying for his dead kāfir uncle who supported him, what makes you think we can pray for a US soldier?”

Another Islamist argued that an “ignorant kafir” US soldier can’t be taken to Allah just because he said “Free Palestine” adding that it would make Palestine a card that clears the past and makes any person an angel!!

“It is Haram to make dua for a Kafir once they have died,” wrote another user.

Meanwhile, several users also pointed out how leftist, Islamists and terror organisations like Hamas use such brainwashed persons as “useful idiots’ and ‘expendables’ for their vile agenda.

12 persons die after train runs over passengers in Jharkhand’s Jamtara after they allegedly jumped from a halted train over rumours of fire

In a tragic incident, at least 12 persons died and several others injured after they were run over by a train in Jamtara in Jharkhand. Passengers of a train were hit by a running train after their train stopped near Kalajharia and they got down from the train.

The victims were passengers of the Bangalore-Yesvanpur Express running on the down line, and they were hit by a local train running on the adjacent track. The train was halted near the Kalajharia railway crossing of the Kalajharia station after rumours of fire on the train. As soon as the train stopped, some passengers jumped from the train and were standing on the adjacent track.

Unfortunately, the Jhajha-Asansol MEMU train passed through that place at the moment, running over the people on the track.

However, as per Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari, there was no fire on the train, but the train was stopped on the suspicion of fire. As per the MLA, due to ballast dumped on the side of the track, a huge volume of dust was flying in the air. The driver of the Bangalore-Yesvanpur Express suspected that the train was on fire, mistaking the dust for smoke. Therefore, he stopped the train to inspect the matter. But the rumour of fire spread on the train, and some people jumped out.

Talking about the incident, Jamtara Deputy Commissioner said, ‘A train ran over the passengers at Kalajharia railway station in Jamtara. Some deaths have been reported. The exact number of deaths will be confirmed later. Medical teams and ambulances rushed to the spot’.

Railway administration, railway police and local administration have reached the spot and started rescue operations. The injured are being taken to the hospital.

Jamtara SDM Anant Kumar said, “Near the Kalajharia railway crossing, the train stopped and some passengers got off and were run over by another local train. Information was received that some people have died. RPF and the district police are conducting a search operation and two bodies have been recovered so far… The reason for the incident is yet to be determined…”

The deceased persons are being identified. Two of them have been identified so far, Manish Kumar from Bihar’s Katihar and Sikandar Kumar from Bihar’s Jamui. Kaushik Mitra, CPRO of the Eastern Railway, said that a 3-member JAG committee has been formed to enquire about the incident.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh insults party loyalist ‘journalist’ Mausmi Singh who had ‘promoted’ the party in the past, she gets upset: Details

On Wednesday (28th February), Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh insulted journalist Mausmi Singh after she asked countering questions about Sonia Gandhi contesting polls from Rajasthan. Mausmi Singh works as a journalist at Aaj Tak and India Today and has a history of favouring the Congress party in the past few years.

During the press conference, Ramesh stopped the woman journalist from completing her question as she attempted to ask why Sonia Gandhi decided to contest the Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan and not from Himachal Pradesh. She asked if the party already knew about the cross-voting that happened on 27th February amid the Rajya Sabha polls.

She further indicated that the Congress knew about the dissatisfaction among the Congress leaders in the state of Himachal Pradesh and that they would opt to cross-vote in favour of the BJP. To this, Ramesh instead of answering the question interrupted the woman and said that she was twisting the fact and presenting it for the media story.

“This is very wrong. The situation is quite straight. You are unnecessarily twisting the situation and presenting it. Such questions should not be asked. You are arguing and imitating Amit Malaviya,” Ramesh said directing to Mausmi, the video of which is making rounds on social media.

It is important to note that Mausmi has a history of allegedly ‘supporting’ the Congress party. Recently, Mausm covered the roadshow by Congress in the Amroh district of Uttar Pradesh. She also interviewed Ramesh on 25th February who countered the BJP in the state.

In a series of reports, she further also lauded the Congress supporters for standing by the party amid elections.

Earlier to that, the journalist was also seen interviewing Jairam Ramesh after the UP Police recruitment exams had been cancelled by the state.

Singh has been reporting about the party activities very actively for India Today and Aaj Tak and felt insulted after, Ramesh whom she interviewed for several times in the past interrupted her and said that the question she posed was incorrect. Ramesh was later forced to apologize for his words after Singh began yelling during the press meeting.

Harsh Mahajan, the BJP’s nominee, defeated Congress stalwart Abhishek Manu Singhvi for Himachal Pradesh’s lone Rajya Sabha seat on Tuesday.

The campaign was deadlocked, with both the Congress and BJP candidates receiving 34 votes, indicating that at least six Congress MLAs voted against their party. The outcome was then determined by a random drawing.

In Himachal Pradesh’s 68-member assembly, the Congress has 40 MLAs while the BJP has 25. The remaining three seats are occupied by independent candidates.

Old video of pro-Khalistani Ajmer Singh using derogatory remarks on Maa Durga surfaces, the naxalite-turned-‘historian’ is now participating in Farmer Protest 2.0

0

On 28th February, an old video of pro-Khalistani Naxalite-turned-“historian” Ajmer Singh went viral on social media, where he used derogatory language against Maa Durga. Ajmer Singh is known for his pro-Khalistani views. He used to be a Naxalite and turned into a “historian” after Operation Blue Star in 1984. Interestingly, Ajmer Singh’s writings deeply inspired pro-Khalistani actor-turned-leader Deep Sidhu.

The video that went viral on social media was recorded in Ludhiana during a seminar on “nationalism” in April 2016. He talked about someone who called Mahishasur their “hero” in his statement. He compared Maa Durga with Shrupnakha and said, “Mahishasur was our hero. On one side, [Maa] Durga is worshipped, and on the other, Mahishasur is worshipped. How was he [Mahishasur] killed? He was misled by how Smiri Irani got furious in Parliament. When we talk about Shrupnakha, she tries to seduce Lakshman. It is okay to say so. However, it becomes controversial when the same is said about Durga and Mahishasur.”
