Madhya Pradesh: Sikh student forced to remove turban at security check during exam in Dhar District

A Sikh student studying in Class XII was forced to remove the sacred turban during security frisking on Monday by a woman teacher, prior to writing an exam at a centre in Government Girls School in Dhamnod, in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. The exam centre is roughly 55km from the district headquarters.

When the student was asked to remove his turban during checking, he refused. He then informed the centre-in-charge who asked him to comply with the teacher’s instructions. The turban was removed and the Sikh student was allowed to write his exam only after it was checked.

Brajesh Pandey, State Tribal Welfare Development’s deputy commissioner, said, “After getting information, the teacher in question has been removed from the examination duty. We are further investigating the matter,”

The State Government has now launched a probe into the incident. The accused teacher has also been removed from the exam duty.

Sonam Kapoor, who loses no opportunity to denigrate India, has once again insulted Indian culture ahead of International Women’s Day on the 8th of March. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, which is the Middle East and North African edition of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Sonam Kapoor said that “female empowerment is very important” for her because she comes from a region of the world where “women have always been second-class citizens.”


The ironic part of Sonam Kapoor’s statement is that she made it during a conversation with Bazaar Arabia, a magazine that has the Middle-East and North Africa as its audience. These two regions of the world are the most backward in terms of women’s empowerment. Middle-East is rife with conflict and women often do not have the same rights as men.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where Bazaar Arabia has a significant audience, do not provide equal rights to their women. In Saudi Arabia, women did not have the right to drive until June 2018. In Qatar, male guardianship laws are applied which require females under the age of 25 to travel abroad with a male parent’s consent. Jordan, another country where Bazar Arabia has a great audience, gives husbands the right to determine their wives’ abilities to exercise their rights to work and other public activities. In addition to all of this, there are numerous culture-specific restraints that infringe upon the tenets of gender equality.

Sonam Kapoor has associated herself with Saudi Arabian brands in the past as well which had earned her severe criticism. One of the most influential fashion voices, Diet Prada, questioned Sonam Kapoor on her choice to promote Saudi Arabia, a country where homosexuality is subjected to capital punishment when she is such a vocal supporter of the LGBT community. It was after Sonam Kapoor had attended The MDL Beast Festival which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in December last year.

The women present were subject to sexual harassment which promoted fashion and culture commentary Instagram account Diet_Prada to call out the celebrities including Bollywood entertainer Sonam Kapoor. Diet Prada accused the celebrities of ‘cashing big fat checks in exchange for content creation (aka propaganda) to rehabilitate the image of Saudi Arabia” especially over human rights violations.

Sonam Kapoor had also worn a Saudi label for a charity event in Mumbai hosted by Isha Ambani, daughter of Business tycoon Mukesh Ambani. “Sonam Kapoor can’t get enough of Saudi Arabia,” Arab News, one of the leading English dailies of Saudi Arabia had commented. Given her love for Saudi Arabia, it does come across as hypocritical when Sonam Kapoor claims women have “always been second-class citizens” when it’s definitely not the case. She had recently also unveiled a new ‘mosque-inspired’ Bulgari collection in Abu Dhabi.

Pulwama suicide bombing: NIA arrests father daughter duo who had hosted, helped JeM terrorists

In a major development in the Pulwama terror attack case, the National Investigation Agency has arrested a father-daughter duo on Tuesday. The NIA arrested the Pulwama resident and his daughter on the accusation of harbouring the Pulwama suicide bomber and Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Adil Ahmad Dar.


As per a note released by the NIA, the arrested duo is a man named Tariq Ahmed Shah, aged 50, a resident of Hakripora, Pulwama and his daughter Insha Jaan. Tariq Ahmed, a tipper driver by profession had allegedly hosted the Pulwama suicide bomber Adil Dar and other JeM terrorists in his house on several occasions.

The NIA has revealed that it was at Tariq’s home that the planning and preparations of the suicide bombing were conducted. The last video of Adil Ahmed Dar, warning Hindus of genocide was also shot at Tariq Ahmed Shah’s home, as per the NIA note.

The daughter had also reportedly helped the terrorists with food and other facilities on more than 15 occasions during their stays that lasted 2-4 days each time. She was also reportedly on constant touch with terrorist Md Umar Farooq over the phone and social media.

The arrest came as a development after the very first arrest in the Pulwama terror attack case which was conducted last week. NIA arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Shakir Bashir Magrey, who is a resident of Hajibal, Kakapora in Pulwama. Magrey was allegedly providing shelter and other logistical assistance to Islamic terrorists and suicide-bomber Adil Ahmad Dar. He was introduced to militants in mid-2018 by Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Umar Farooq and was working as a full-time overground worker (OGW) of the JeM after that.

During the investigation, Magrey revealed that he had collected and delivered arms, ammunition, cash, and explosive materials to JeM terrorists, including those who were tasked for Pulwama suicide bombing. Magrey accepted that he had given shelter to Adil Ahmad Dar and Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Umar Farooq in his house from late 2018 till the attack in February 2019, and assisted them in the preparation of the improvised explosive device(IED).

On 14 February 2019, a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Adil Ahmad Dar rammed his vehicle carrying 100 kg of explosives, into the convoy of CRPF security personnel that led to the martyrdom of 40 CRPF jawans.

Delhi Police detains leftist students protestors protesting against CAA at Ram Lila Maidan over lack of permission

The Delhi Police on Tuesday preemptively detained several anti-CAA demonstrators protesting at the Ramlila Maidaan after they arrived to participate in a march against the new Citizenship Law. The protest rally was called upon by the Young India Coordination Committee, which comprised members of as many as 50 leftist and left-leaning students bodies.

The Delhi Police detained the protesting students claiming that they did not have the prerequisite permission for carrying out a march to Parliament.

Former JNUSU president N Sail Balaji, who was spearheading the protest march said that they had submitted an application seeking permission for holding a protest rally on February 27 but they were only informed about the permission being rejected on Monday, i.e March 1. Balaji claimed that it was a last-minute communication from the police’s end.

Soon after the government passed the Citizenship Amendment Act in December 2019, protests erupted in some parts of the country against the legislation. A group of over 50 students organisations from many public and private universities launched a committee called as ‘Young India National Coordination Committee’ on December 24 with the aim to bolster the campaign against Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, National Register of Citizen (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).

The committee declared a crusade against the CAA, NPR and NRC and announced that will make attempts to coordinate protests across the country. Kawalpreet Kaur, Delhi University student and president of the left-leaning All India Students’ Association (AISA) spoke at the press conference that Young India Coordination Committee would bring together students group as a coordinated unit and intensify the protest against CAA until the government revoked the law.

Chaos had engulfed several parts of the National Capital last week as anti-CAA protesters went on a rampage, attacking pro-CAA supporters and causing grave damage to public property. The National Capital was soon aflame with communal conflagration as Muslim mob ran riot in the northeast Delhi, specifically targeting Hindu localities, shops and religious places of worship. A frenzied Muslim mob atop AAP councillor Tahir Hussain’s house not only attacked Hindu locals in the region by throwing petrol bombs and stones but also vandalised a Shiva temple in the opposite lane. IB sleuth Ankit Sharma was also reportedly dragged by the mob from inside Tahir’s building before his body was found abandoned in a nearby ditch in Chand Bagh.

The protests sites have often been a flash-point where anti-CAA protesters are goaded into attacking the law enforcement personnel. With this view in mind and the prevalent situation, the Delhi Police denied granting permission to the demonstrators to carry out an anti-CAA rally and stoke passions in the city.

United Nations’ OHCHR files intervention application in SC over CAA, MEA fumes

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has slammed The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for filing an intervention application in the Supreme Court of India against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).


The contentious move by the UN body implied that it wanted to be made a party in the existing petitions against the CAA. The message was conveyed to India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, Switzerland.

On Tuesday, the MEA spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar, reiterated that CAA is an internal affair of India and that no foreign party has any locus standi on issues related to India’s sovereignty.

He informed, “Our Permanent Mission in Geneva was informed yesterday evening by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (Michelle Bachelet) that her office had filed an intervention application in the Supreme Court of India in respect to the 2019 Citizenship Amendment Act.”


Kumar said, “It (CAA) is reflective of our long-standing national commitment with respect to human rights issues arising from the tragedy of the Partition of India.”

He added, “India is a democratic country governed by the rule of law. We all have the utmost respect for and full trust in our independent judiciary. We are confident that our sound and legally sustainable position will be vindicated by the Supreme Court. ”

While the OHCHR had earlier alleged that CAA was “fundamentally discriminatory in nature”, nothing can possibly be further from the truth.

CAA does not strip anyone, let alone Indian Muslims of their citizenship rights. The humanitarian law aims to fast track the citizenship process of religious persecuted minorities from three neighbouring countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who have come to India as refugees before December 31, 2014.

Nationalist Congress Party’s Legislative Council Member Vidya Chavan and four members of her family including husband, two sons, and daughter-in-law are booked over allegations of harassment, cruelty and assault of her daughter-in-law. An FIR has been registered against them in Vile Parle.

Along with MLC Vidya Chavan, her husband Abhijeet, her two sons Anand (victim’s brother-in-law), Ajit(Victim’s husband) and Sheetal(Victim’s sister-in-law and Anand’s wife) are booked under sections 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code.

The  FIR was registered after a complaint was filed regarding the same on 16 January. Vidya Chavan denied allegations while talking to news agency PTI indulged in victim shaming and accused her daughter-in-law of having multiple affairs.

An official while quoting the victim said that her brother-in-law used to make inappropriate gestures. Victim has accused her sister-in-law too of mentally harassing her while she was living with the family at their residence in Vile Parle.

The official further claimed that the trouble started when the victim who has a daughter, delivered a second premature girl child who died later. She said that the Chavan family wanting a male child could be a possible reason for harassment.

As per reports, the victim has also demanded her valuables from the Chavan family on several occasions but she hasn’t received them yet.

The police summoned and recorded the statements of the Chavan family after the FIR was registered. The family denied allegations and said that the victim wasn’t interested in staying with the family and wanted to go back to her father.

No arrested has been made in this case so far. Vidya Chavan asserted that her son asked the victim for divorce with mutual understanding but instead she went to the police station to lodge a complaint.

The MLC claimed that her daughter in law was cheating her her son while having multiple extra-marital affairs. “My son, who is an engineer by profession, got married around 10 years back. Now, he has a seven-year-old daughter and we are taking care of her. Last year, she was supposed to go to Denmark with my son. One day, her WhatsApp stopped working and my son took her mobile phone for repair. Once the phone got repaired, he checked her messages and found that she was having affairs with four men. On December 7, my son revealed to me everything and said she has cheated on him. He canceled his plan to go to Denmark with his wife and daughter,” she alleged.

Shriram Millennium school in Sector 135 Noida on Tuesday decided to shut down the premises for two days and also postpone its annual examinations amid concerns that a student’s parent, had tested positive with COVID-19 and has been isolated on Monday.

“Due to certain unavoidable circumstances, we will be postponing the exams scheduled for today. The new dates will be communicated shortly. The Board exams will continue as normal. The children of classes 7-11 may come for extra classes if they wish. Class 6 and IGCSE classes continue with the study leave,” reads a message from the school to parents.

This follows reports that the individual who contracted coronavirus in Italy had attended a birthday party on February 28 (Friday) with his child studying in the Noida school. This party was also attended by other students of the school and their family members.

A total of 40 students of the school have been tested and sent to 28-day isolation, IANS quoted Dr Anurag Bhargav the Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar as saying.

Bhargav said that the five families had attended the birthday party, which was hosted by the man who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. Bhargav added that the man had found out that he was infected with coronavirus only after the birthday party.

The health official also requested people not to pay any heed to rumours and added that the school will reopen once the building is sanitised. He assured that the virus is so fragile that it dies within seven to eight hours in open area, therefore there was no need to panic, said Bhargav. Until the sanitisation of the school is completed the school administration has been asked to keep the premises shut.


He furthered that since there is no treatment for this virus as of now, the main treatment lies is prevention. People should avoid coming into contact with people who have visited foreign countries already notified.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has urged that the identity (name/residence location/office location/ names of family members) be kept confidential to avoid panic, discrimination and mental strain on the family.

Yesterday, the union health ministry had announced that there have been two positive cases of coronavirus with one of them being from Delhi and the other from Telangana.

Another educational institute, Shiv Nadar School, Noida, also has decided to close the school till March 9 to sanitise the area.

Coronavirus has infected more than 89,000 people globally and caused over 3,000 deaths. The World Health Organization has named the illness COVID-19, referring to its origin late last year and the coronavirus that causes it.

A day after Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif condemned the violence in Delhi, calling it a “wave of organised violence against Indian Muslims” and exhorting authorities to not less “senseless thuggery” prevail, the Ministry of External Affairs has summoned the Iranian Ambassador in Delhi Ali Chegeni over the remarks made by the minister.

“Iran condemns the wave of organised violence against Indian Muslims. For centuries, Iran has been a friend of India. We urge Indian authorities to ensure the wellbeing of ALL Indians & not let senseless thuggery prevail. The path forward lies in peaceful dialogue and rule of law,” Zarif said on Twitter on Monday night.


Earlier last week Indonesia, Pakistan and Turkey too had raised concerns over the “organised violence against Muslims”. About the Delhi riots, Turkey’s President Erdogan last week claimed that “massacres” of Muslims were widespread in India. India had then asked Turkey to desist from commenting on the internal affairs of the country and also warned Ankara against promoting cross-border terrorism.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan too indulged in disseminating misinformation on Twitter. He issued warning “radicalization…of Indian Muslims”, which according to him will have disastrous consequences not only for the region but eventually for the world also.

Indonesia too had expressed their concerns over the Delhi riots to the Indian ambassador in Jakarta. This came after the Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry condemned the “violence against Muslims”.

However, it is noteworthy to mention that the violence that was witnessed in Delhi last week saw murderous Muslim mob running amok and targeting Hindu residents. Delhi was in the grips of unprecedented violence last week which resulted in the deaths of 46 people and rendered 200 injured.

Hussain’s building was used as a shelter by the Muslim mob who dragged a young IB officer Ankit Sharma inside the building and whose body was later found abandoned in a ditch in Chand Bagh. The enraged mob also pelted stones and petrol bombs and vandalised a Shiva temple in the opposite lane.

Rohingya Muslims Alameen Sheikh and gang arrested, used to ‘settle’ illegal immigrants with forged documents, anti-CAA funding link suspected

The Kanpur police busted a gang involved in looting people by exchanging fake US dollars when they arrested two Rohingya Muslims named Alameen Sheikh and Masoom Sheikh on February 2 (Monday). On being interrogated Alameen has revealed shocking details about his network and their operations.

According to a Jagran report, Alameen confessed that his gang use to work to provide shelter to the illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators in Kanpur. They used to run an illegal Dollars exchange business and collected lakhs of rupees which was then sent to their chief sitting in Mumbai. This money collected was, in turn, used to fund the anti-CAA riots carried out across India.

This is how Uttar Pradesh Police got the information:

The Uttar Pradesh police had arrested one Tarsikulla Mulla, a resident of Twenty-four Parganas in West Bengal, Raju Khan, a resident of Khulna district in Bangladesh and one Aliya Begum from Dholpur in Rajasthan for running the illegal Dollar exchange business. Police recovered Bangladeshi SIM card and fake Aadhaar cards from these people. Upon suspicion that these arrested people were Rohingya Muslims who were part of a syndicate running the US Dollar exchange racket, the police probed further, eventually finding that the gang is also involved in settling illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

After interrogation, Kanpur police arrested gang leaders Alameen Sheikh and Masoom Sheikh, both Rohingya Muslims, from a house in Barasirohi. Alameen used to provide dollars to the gang. The police are now investigating the accounts of these fraudsters.

Alameen arranged hideouts for the illegal Bangladeshi intruders:

The Kanpur police revealed that Alameen, the kingpin of the gang, use to help illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to enter India through the porous borders of West Bengal. They were taken to Kanpur from West Bengal where they were provided rooms on rent in slum areas in different localities.

Alameen use to arrange for fake Aadhar cards, mobile phones, sim cards for these illegal Bangladeshis. He also provided them with the US Dollars and trained them to run an illegal exchange business.

Station in-charge Ajay Seth said that the search for three other members of the gang is on.

The money collected was transferred to Mumbai and used to fund anti-CAA riots:

As police further interrogated kingpin Alameen it was revealed that the mastermind of this entire operation was sitting in Mumbai. The SHO said that the mastermind was operating the gang sitting in Mumbai. It is being suspected that the funds collected by selling these Dollars were transferred to Mumbai which, in turn, were probably used to sponsor the anti-CAA riots.

The police are now investigating the Mumbai bank account details where this money was transferred. “A team will soon be sent to Mumbai to arrest the mastermind,” said the station in-charge, Ajay Seth. The police are also probing the account beneficiaries whom the suspects have sent money.

A wanted criminal by the name of Irshad Khan was apprehended by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch near Matoshree, the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in Bandra (East), Mumbai. A country-made pistol and 7 rounds of live ammunition were also recovered from him.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Irshad Khan, who has multiple cases of robbery, theft and murder against him in Mumbai, Thane and Gujarat.


Irshad had multiple cases of theft, murder and robbery registered against him in Thane. He was nabbed after the cops laid a trap, following a tip-off that he was planning to rob in the locality.

The police said, “We found one country revolver and seven live rounds from his possession. Following which, he was arrested.

Recently, MNS had put up posters near Matoshree asking CM Uddhav Thackeray to identify and deport Pakistani and Bangladeshi illegal immigrants living in large numbers near his locality in Bandra.
