Does Pakistan realize they are also the laughing stock of the Muslim world?

This just in. The Saudis are going to invest in a 20% stake at an enterprise value of $75 billion and it’s going to be India’s biggest FDI deal.

Untitled.png

The Saudis are smart. They are rich. They know how to stay rich. And they want to get richer.

That’s why they invest in India.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, the self appointed protector of the Muslim world, is trying to make a mark by starving itself of tomatoes after cutting off trade with India.

Untitled.png

Other counter measures announced by Pakistan to India’s move on Article 370 include : muted Eid celebrations today, watering down their own independence day celebrations on Aug 14 and observing “black day” on Aug 15. Other ideas on the table include “unsubscribing” Indians on Youtube. This is not a joke. Actually, it literally isn’t. I suspect several Indian “liberal” youtubers might lose a lot of subscribers if Pakistanis go ahead with their threat.

In the meantime, as Pakistan has cut off a trade with India and deprived itself of tomatoes, the smart Saudis have invested billions of dollars.

The message from the world is clear : nobody takes Pakistan seriously, least of all the Muslim world. The Pakistanis are at liberty to make fools of themselves.

In the last few years, we have seen a definitive change in the attitude of the world towards India. India  can now pull off surgical strikes across the LoC, or even airstrikes on terrorists across the border and no nation dares object. This is partly due to the realization that Pakistan has nothing to give anybody except terrorism. The other part is due to the large and forever growing economic influence of India.

The indifference of the Muslim world would sting Pakistan that much more. Because they like to talk about being the only nuclear power in the Muslim world. And imagine how the Muslim world looks up to them for protection.

Would you believe that the Pakistani Air Force tried to intervene in the 1974 Yom Kippur War between Israel and its Arab neighbors? Neither Israel nor the Arabs even noticed their presence.

So that’s what Pakistan is. Sort of like Spiderman. You know, if Spiderman couldn’t run fast, couldn’t climb buildings nor had any other kind of superpower.

Fifty years ago, in 1969, a weak India led by Indira Gandhi had begged to join the OIC, the international organization of all nations in the Muslim world. This humiliating episode ended with India being refused entry at the insistence of Pakistan. In fact, King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, King Hussein of Jordan and the host King Hassan of Morocco jointly apologized to Pakistan for even considering having Indians around. In their apology to Pakistan, they blasted us Indians as crafty and conmen.

Now I am happy that India never joined the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). And I am ashamed that we were humiliated and sent out, called crafty and conmen. Everything about that episode was a disaster.

What a difference fifty years have made. Among many other things, Narendra Modi has ensured that the Muslim world siding with India over Pakistan has avenged that humiliation.

Wrestler Babita Phogat and father Mahavir Singh Phogat take plunge into politics, join BJP

0

The famous wrestler Babita Phogat along with her father Mahavir Phogat have officially entered the political fray by joining the BJP today. The move comes at a time when Haryana state elections are just months away.

Wrestler Babita Phogat and her father Mahavir Singh Phogat joined the saffron party in presence of the Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

A three time Commonwealth gold and silver medalist, Babita’s entry into BJP will boost the party’s prospects in the state elections in Haryana, which are due later this year. The Amir Khan starrer blockbuster ‘Dangal’ movie was based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters’ achievements in the field of wrestling.

Phogat sisters along with their father have long admired PM Modi for his bold decision-making ability and have even supported the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Babita Phogat recently took up the cudgel for CM M L Khattar who came under vicious attack by a section of media and opposition parties for his comments about the sex ratio in Haryana. “He has not made any statement that is offensive to our sisters and daughters. I urge the media not to misinterpret his statement,” said Ms Phogat, according to ANI.

Shobhaa De wrote article advocating ‘plebiscite in Kashmir’ under influence of Pakistani establishment, reveals Abdul Basit

In an interview with one Pakistani blogger Farhan Virk who calls himself a part of ‘Team IK’ (Team Imran Khan), the former Pakistani High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit has revealed that he managed to influence ’eminent’ journalist Shobhaa De to write an article on Kashmir in the aftermath of terrorist Burhan Wani’s death.

The relevant bits of the interview can be watched here:

The article Abdul Basit was presumably referring to, was written by Shobhaa De in July 2016. The article was titled ‘Burhan Wani is dead but he’ll live on till we find out what Kashmir really wants’. The article could only be accurately described as serving as a defence for Kashmiri Jihad. De even calls for a referendum on the matter, a pivotal Pakistani talking point.

At one point in the conversation, Basit mentions, “One of the challenges I had faced was how to find a journalist who we can convince to write a good article on behalf of us, advocating a referendum in Kashmir. Then I found a lady, Shobha De…”

The headline of Shobhaa De’s article

She wrote, “Let’s see if the present government has the guts to go ahead with a referendum to resolve the Kashmir crisis once and for all. Let’s end the lingering pain in the region and allow Kashmiris to live in peace, with the dignity and harmony they are entitled to.”

Excerpt from article by Shobhaa De

Shobhaa De also attempts to put the Indian security forces and the terrorists of the valley who pelt stones and indulge in rampant terrorism on the same pedestal. She also doesn’t hesitate from using words like ‘martyr’ for Burhan Wani, even in passing, thereby subtly peddling Pakistan’s agenda.

Excerpt from article by Shobhaa De

Shobhaa De completely ignores the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus in the Valley. She also fails to appreciate the entrenched racism and religious bigotry, the Kashmiri Muslim analogue to White Supremacy, that motivates Kashmiris to wage Jihad against the Indian state.

Watch: Eid celebrated peacefully across Jammu and Kashmir even as vested interests continue to fearmonger

Despite fear-mongering and negative campaigning by media and individuals with vested interests, the festival of Eid is being peacefully celebrated all throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir police DGP Dilbag Singh has stated to the media that the festival is being celebrated peacefully and with full fervor. He has stated that in all areas of Kashmir valley, people have been flocking to their local mosques, security norms have been relaxed and there are no restrictions on people gathering in Mosques.

Dilbag Singh also asserted that there have been no incidents of violence or stone-pelting in the valley. As per reports, over 10,000 people have offered Eid prayers peacefully in Baramulla alone.

In Rajouri, Eid prayers have been offered in Mosques where Muslims have gathered in large numbers. Police have stated that restrictions were relaxed two days prior so that people could shop and make arrangements to celebrate Eid.

Media reports also show visuals from Mosques in Kashmir where Eid prayers and gathering of Muslims have been going on without any violent incidents.

In Srinagar, people have gathered in Mosques in large numbers and Eid prayers have been conducted peacefully.

Journalist Aditya Kaul posted a video with a view of the city from a top vantage point. He shared that no violence or any untoward incident has been reported so far from the city and Eid prayers have been conducted peacefully.

Many people, including political leaders, media portals and individuals with vested interests have been indulging in blatant fear-mongering and spreading of misinformation regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. EX-IAS officer and neo-politician Shah Faesal had threatened India of violence and revenge for stripping Article 370. He had tweeted that no Eid will be celebrated till the ‘insult is avenged’.

Freelance protestor and JNU’s leftist fearmonger Shehla Rashid has also been trying very hard to spread negativity about the Kashmir issue claiming that she is unable to speak to her mother.

Despite rampant attempts by many to spread fear and negativity, people in Kashmir seem to be celebrating Eid with positivity and hope. It is indeed a sad spectacle that a section of people who live and earn their livelihoods in India, calling themselves Indian citizens, have been mirroring the propaganda peddled by Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.

Former editor accidentally reveals how a reporter quit job after he was forced to do anti-Modi story

The Media Rumble is an annual conclave that is organised by Newslaundry and Teamwork Arts. The aim of the conclave is to discuss the news and media industry. This year, it was held on 2nd and 3rd August in Delhi, at the India Habitat Centre. In one of the segments of The Media Rumble, Vinod Kapri, who was the former editor of TV9 Bharatvarsh accidentally admitted that one of his reporters had quit his job after he was forced to do anti-Modi stories.

The question that was posed to Vinod Kapri at The Media Rumble, was whether the media today is subverting democracy by its coverage. In response, Vinod Kapri said that it is often said there is pressure from the Modi government’s side to skew the media narrative, however, such pressure has always been there from all governments. However, now the issue is, according to Kapri, that journalists in the newsroom are ‘already in pressure’ even before the government says something. He says that the “pressure” is not so much from the government but from the journalists themselves.

What pressure the Modi government might be exerting on the media, was an unsubstantiated claim by Kapri. However, in the process of answering the question, he did reveal that one of his journalists had quit his job after he was forced to do anti-Modi coverage.

In The Media Rumble segment, Vinod Kapri said that while the Prime Minister was in Varanasi right before the 2019 elections, during a meet of the reporters of TV9 Bharatvarsh where the editorial line of the channel’s coverage was being discussed, Kapri had told his team that they would only be covering the state of the Ganga, or how the conditions of roads were, or the condition of the PM’s adopted village. He had, according to him, asked his reporters not to report the Prime Minister’s visit to temples during his visit to Varanasi.

Vinod Kapri then said that while the entire team was on board with the slant of the reportage, one journalist from the team raised an objection that the direction that Kapri was insisting on was an agenda against the Prime Minister. Kapri says that he tried to convince the reporter that they were only showing the truth and not running any agenda, however, the report quit the next day because he did not want to be a part of biased coverage against the PM.

In The Media Rumble segment, Vinod Kapri then says that the problem in the media industry is more from within than the pressure from any government.

However, while Vinod Kapri says that the journalist left his job because he was asked to do “good journalism”, a cursory glance at what TV9 Bharatvarsh was covering when the Prime Minister was in Varanasi reveals a different story.

While during his Media Rumble speech, Kapri said that they wanted to do journalism based on truth and not cover Modi’s visits to religious places, one video by TV9 Bharatvarsh reveals that their slant was decidedly anti-Modi as the video is about a man confronting supporting on why they choose to chant ‘Har Har Modi’ when ‘Har Har’ is supposed to be used for Lord Shiv.

The agenda was also clear when TV9 Bharatvarsh published a video while talking to Muslims and how they see PM Modi. The views were obvious. While Kapri says they wanted to stay away from religious angles, they repeatedly peddled the anti-Modi narrative.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBNFsTIQYn8]

The anti-Modi slant in the media has always been rather apparent. It was only recently revealed by a senior journalist in his book that sweets were distributed at the Doordarshan office when PM Modi (then Chief Minister of Gujarat) was denied a visa for the United States of America. ABP had also censored a clip of an interview with PM Modi where he had slammed the channel for blacking out a press conference by Arun Jaitley where he had, on the basis of OpIndia expose, spoken of the dubious land deals by Rahul Gandhi.

After getting endorsement from Congress leader P Chidambaram, IAS-turned-politician Shah Faesal threatens ‘revenge’ against India

After sliding into irrelevance, former IAS officer-turned-politician Shah Faesal on Sunday attempted to incite violence and threatened that he would not celebrate Eid until ‘the last bit of insult is avenged and undone’.

A frustrated Shah Faesal threatened to seek revenge and warned the people of India that he would not celebrate the Eid until he avenged the ‘insult’ meted out to him following the historic abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories.

“There is no Eid. Kashmiris across the world are mourning the illegal annexation of their land. There shall be no Eid till everything that has been stolen and snatched since 1947 is returned back. No Eid till the last bit of insult is avenged and undone,” said Faesal.

Interestingly, the revengeful statements of Shah Faesal come just after Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had praised him while trying to insinuate that the abolition of Article 370 was “the biggest betrayal” perpetrated against the Kashmiris by the Indian government.

As Congress is parroting the narrative of Pakistan by questioning the Indian government on the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, elements like Shah Faesal seems to have found a new opportunity to gain some foothold, by fear-mongering and spreading negativity.

With the situation in Jammu and Kashmir returning to normalcy, the ‘liberal-secular’ media, Pakistan backed propagandists, some political parties in the country were found to be upset. The cabal had tried to incite the people of J&K making them believe that abrogation of Article 370 was against their rights and goodwill. The liberal industry was expecting some blowback by Kashmiris in response to the abrogation of the unjust article and bifurcation of the state.

However, the people of the newly formed UT have perceived abrogation and bifurcation as a golden opportunity to become a part of India’s growth story, and are now welcoming the Government of India’s (GoI) decision.

Be careful or we will lose Kashmir: Digvijay Singh toes Pakistan’s line yet again, threatens India

After the Modi government’s bold step of stripping the Article 370 and bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Pakistan has been acting frustrated and issuing a new bunch of verbal threats every day. But interestingly, many Congress leaders and their cabal of news channels and so-called ‘secular liberals’ seem to be saying the exact same things as Pakistan too.

The statements have been so coherent with Pakistan’s narrative that it is now becoming difficult to differentiate whether these leaders and fear-mongering journalists are speaking on behalf of India or India’s enemy nation.

Warning India on the basis of fabricated news shared by BBC that has been incessantly peddled by Pakistani media and media portals well known for their constant anti-India view, Digvijay Singh predicted dire scenarios in Kashmir and claimed that the government of India has ‘burnt its hands in the fire’. He added that PM Modi, Amit Shah and Ajit Doval need to be careful or “We will lose Kashmir”.

It is notable here that Pakistan has been stating similar lines too since the Indian government announced the stripping of the article 370 and bifurcation of the state a week ago. Congress’ stand of opposing the move has been criticised not only by the people but by many of their own leaders too. Congress’ Rajya Sabha chief whip Bhubaneswar Kalita had resigned over it. Many regional and national Congress leaders have openly spoken against the party’s stand on this issue.

Nevertheless, Congress seems to be determined to echo Pakistan’s narrative over the issues of national security. Even after the Balakot airstrikes, Congress’ statements had found endorsement from Pakistan. Their statement was aired in Pakistan’s national channel to fan the enemy nation’s anti-India propaganda.

The security forces and the home ministry has denied the international media reports of large scale protests in Kashmir post-August 5. MHA had stated in its statement that the claims by international media are fabricated. Yesterday, the police had also clarified that not a single bullet has been fired after August 5 in Kashmir.

Digvijay Singh also condemned former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s statement that Nehru was a criminal. Singh stated that Shivraj Chauhan is not fit to be even the dust of Nehru’s shoes and he should feel ashamed of his statement.

Another Congress veteran and former Home Minister P Chidambaram has also echoed Pakistan’s statements. Claiming that the government’s move on Jammu and Kashmir was directed against Muslims, just like Pakistan has been whining, Chidambaram stated that Article 370 was removed only because Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state.

Chidambaram, however, did not bother to explain which non-Muslim majority state in India had Article 370 in the first place.

Virat Kohli back to record breaking mode

0

No hundreds in 9 World Cup games and now he is back to the scoring hundreds again. Virat Kohli has been in great touch in World Cup, scoring five fifties but was unable to convert them into hundreds. But today he has scored his 42nd ODI Hundred, just seven behind Tendulkar’s record of 49. He is also set to break many more records in the ongoing series.

Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, scored his 67th International hundred, considered to be the best Limited Over International batsman by many. Here are some of the records Virat made while batting against West Indies.

  • Virat Kohli’s 120 is now the highest ODI innings by any captain in the Caribbeans, beating Brian Lara’s 116 against Sri Lanka at Bridgetown in 2003.
  • Virat Kohli has now 11,406 runs in ODIs, among Indian batsman, he is only behind Tendulkar who has scored 18426 runs, he surpassed Ganguly (11,363) during the innings.
  • Virat Kohli has now scored 8 ODI hundreds against West Indies, the most by any batsman against West Indies in ODIs. The record for most ODI hundreds against a nation is held by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 9 ODI hundreds against Australia. He also becomes the first batsman to score 8 or more ODI hundreds against three nations.
  • Virat Kohli has now 19,904 International runs in this decade (2010-2019). He needs 96 runs to become the first player to score 20,000 International runs in a single decade. He has also scored 66 International hundreds in the decade.
  • As a captain, Virat Kohli has scored 6th ODI hundred against West Indies. He surpasses Ricky Ponting’s record of most ODI hundreds against a nation as a captain (5).
  • Virat Kohli took 34 innings to score 2,000 ODI runs against West Indies, and he is the fastest to score 2,000 ODI runs against a team. Previous best – Rohit Sharma against Australia in 37 innings.
  • Virat Kohli surpassed Javed Miandad’s record of most runs against West Indies in ODIs. Miandad has scored 1,930 ODI runs against the Caribbeans.
  • Kohli has now scored the 20th ODI century as a captain, second-most after Ricky Ponting as he scored 22 as captain. Kohli scored 19 ODI hundreds under MS Dhoni which is a record of scoring most ODI hundreds under any captain.

Congress leader P Chidambaram plays the religion card, says BJP abrogated Article 370 because there is Muslim majority in Kashmir

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that the BJP abrogated Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two union territories because there is a Muslim majority in Kashmir. He added that had it been a Hindu majority state, the BJP would not have touched it.

He further accused the BJP of using ‘muscle power’ to revoke Article 370 and said that the international news agencies are covering it but not the Indian media. This is also the line used by various Congress leaders including former party president Rahul Gandhi’s close confidant Sam Pitroda who believed international media that Balakot air strikes were futile instead of Indian armed forces which said that terror camps were destroyed. He added that other states too have special provisions like Article 371, but only Kashmir was singled out because of ‘religious fanaticism’.

Chidambaram also accused the regional parties of supporting BJP government’s move out of ‘fear’. Amusingly, Congress party’s own leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia has supported the move. Another Congress leader and son of last Maharaja of erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir who had signed the Instrument of Accession acceding the state to India, Dr Karan Singh, too, welcomed the abrogation of Article 370.

Last Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah abrogated Article 370 that gave special status to erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir and bifurcated the same into two union territories, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. While most of the country welcomed the move, a few Congress leaders were not too happy with the idea of Jammu and Kashmir being fully integrated into India without any terms and conditions and riders attached.
