Rajasthan: Man vandalizes the statue of Maharana Pratap, Kshatriya samaj gives ultimatum of seven days to replace statue

On Friday afternoon, a man climbed up the statue of Maharana Pratap at the busy Maharana Pratap circle in Banswada, Rajasthan and damaged the javelin. The man who was carrying the lathi, left everyone shocked with his act.

The man climbed up screaming and managed to damage the statue. Some passer-bys tried to stop him immediately but he intimated them with the lathi that he was carrying. However, before he could vandalize the statue further, some people successfully managed to pull him down and hand him over to the Kotwali.

As the video of the incident was circulated around, people expressed their anguish. Soon, activists of Rajput Karni Sena gathered and registered protest. They demanded SP Tejaswini Gautam take strict action against the culprit. They also urged the administration to replace the desecrated statue with a new one. Erstwhile royal Jagmal Singh, President of Rajput Samaj Rajendra Singh Anandapuri and  others also participated in the gathering.

The Kshatriya samaj has demanded that the statue be replaced within seven days or they will carry out protests.

A case of damaging the public property has been filed against the miscreant, who was sent for a medical test. He first claimed to be a resident of Sagar and later Gangasagar. The police alleged at first instance the culprit appeared to be mentally ill.

Anandapuri, fearing a conspiracy, urged the administration to investigate the matter deeply.

The Congress government in Rajasthan has been on the receiving end of flak for downplaying the valour of Maharana Pratap. Recently, it was reported that the state government will change school syllabus to change that in the Haldighati battle, Maharana Pratap did not win the battle. State education minister Govind Singh Dotasara had reportedly said that it was not necessary to know who won the battle. Earlier, the BJP had put in the syllabus that the Haldighati battle which was fought between Maharana Pratap and Mughal emperor Akbar, Akbar was defeated.

Tensions escalate as a boy brutally stabbed during the protests in Ranchi against alleged lynching of Tabrez Ansari held by Muslim groups

Protest meetings carried out by a group of Muslim organisations under the banner of Muttahida Muslima Mahaz (MMM) yesterday in Ranchi, Jharkhand against the alleged lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Saraikela district of the state turned violent resulting in mounting tension in the area. The protestors reportedly vandalised a bus of Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) at Rajendra Chowk creating panic among the passengers.

According to reports, a boy named Vivek Srivastava was brutally stabbed by the mob protestors and another one was beaten up in the night around 10 pm when the two boys were passing by on a bike. Injured Vivek was admitted to Medica Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Opindia talked to Sub-Inspector (SI) Gopal Prasad Singh from Daily Bazaar police station who confirmed the report of the boy being stabbed and the other being beaten up. SI Singh told that the Muslim protestors took out a procession in the night around 10 pm after the protest meeting that was organised at Urs ground at Doranda in the day. He said that the protestors blocked the road near the Iqra Masjid area during the procession and created a ruckus by damaging public property. The situation was brought under control after police intervention.

According to reports, no prior permission was taken from the SDO by the protestors before organising the protest gathering and then taking out the procession. The Hindu reported that three Muslim boys were thrashed and forced to chant the slogan of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by a group of people in the airport area. A complaint this has been lodged at Doranda police station.

MMM convenor Maulana Obedulla Kasmi said that their protest was not targeted at a particular caste or religion and actually it was against those elements who are trying to spread hatred through crime like mob lynchings. The Muslim organisations have prepared a charter of seven demands too present before the government.

Congress’ resignation saga continues: Jyotiraditya Scindia resigns as AICC General Secretary

Jyotiraditya Scindia today resigned as All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary taking responsibility of the poll debacle. “Accepting the people’s verdict and taking accountability, I had submitted my resignation as General Secretary of AICC to Rahul Gandhi. I thank him for entrusting me with this responsibility and for giving me the opportunity to serve our party,” he said.

Congress leaders are on a resignation spree. Indian Youth Congress Chief, Keshav Chand Yadav, too resigned on Saturday, taking “full responsibility” of the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

In a letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi, Keshav Chand Yadav wrote, “I joined politics after being inspired by your vision for development and welfare of India. It is just because of your revolutionary step to inculcate one of the finest democratic process in Indian Youth Congress that a common man like me could make a stand in politics. Sir, as you are well aware that I toiled from being a social worker to block level party worker and presently the national president of IYC.”

He added, “But now after giving a serious thought on the current political scenario and to stand by your fight and cause, I do hereby take the full responsibility of the 2019 electoral defeat and tender my resignation from my current post. I have always been and will continue to serve the party as a dedicated and responsible worker of Congress.”

Keshav Chand Yadav belongs to the Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, who was appointed the Youth Congress chief in May last year. He had been the national general secretary of Indian Youth Congress and was the in charge of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier expressed his angst over Congress leaders being nonchalant with the poll rout and not owning up the responsibility of the loss.

Ending the month-long drama, the Congress prince had on July 3, publicly announced his resignation from the post, sticking to his decision. He posted a self-contradictory, four-page letter on Twitter reiterating his decision to step down from the post of Congress president and also taking responsibility for the election results.

What happens if it rains in semi-final or final of the Cricket World Cup 2019

Finally, after 45 games it has been decided which are the two teams placed at number one and number two in the points table of Cricket World Cup 2019. India will play New Zealand at Old Trafford on Tuesday while Australia will take on arch-rivals England at Edgbaston on Thursday.

The ICC has one reserve day for both the semi-finals and the final. In case there is no cricket over two days in the semis, then the fate of the two teams will be decided on their position in the league stage.

The rules for semi-finals are pretty simple and easy in case of a tie or wash out.

In the case of rain, there are reserve days for both the semi-finals and the final.

Let’s talk about semis first, in the case of a tie; there is super overrule which will decide the fate of the match. However, in case of no play on either day (due to bad weather), the team with more points will qualify for the finals. In case of rain interruption, the match will not restart on the next day; it will continue from the same position it was stopped.

India v New Zealand

In case of rain on both days, and no play possible, India will reach the Finals because India has 15 points while New Zealand has just 11.

Weather condition: It is predicted to be a wet afternoon on Tuesday at Manchester. Chances of showers expected with a lot of interruption during the match, and maybe it could end in 2 days. The second day too will have some patches of rain.

Australia v England

In case of rain on both days, and no play possible, Australia will reach the Finals because Australia has 14 points while England has 12 in the points table.

Weather Condition: Slight drizzle is predicted at Birmingham on Thursday and Friday, but the conditions over there will be not as adverse as it will be in Manchester. The match will over in 2 days but will as of now no chance of a washout.

It depends on weather conditions, and the Super Over will take place on the scheduled day of the match (or reserve day if it is utilized for the semis or final).

In normal circumstances, it shall start 10 minutes after the conclusion of the match. Each team will be allowed to have one review during the Super Over.

FINALS

If both the days are washed out, then the two teams will share the trophy. If it ends in a tie, then there will be a super over to decide the winner.

Five more teenagers involved in Hauz Qazi temple desecration arrested, admit to vandalism, pelting stones at temple

Five more teenagers including four juveniles have been arrested in the Hauz Qazi Durga temple desecration case in Chandni Chowk area of Delhi, taking the total number of arrests to 17. As per the Times of India report, they have admitted to vandalising the temple to the Police.

During the interrogation, the youths have admitted that they were called by one of the accused caught by the police earlier. Upon being asked by others, they also pelted stones at the temple. Reportedly, they even broke down the shutter at the entrance of the temple. They even entered houses of some of the residents to terrorise them.

The suspects were identified on basis of the videos by some of the residents. As per the report, the police has given strict warnings not to shield the suspects.

As reported earlier, on the night of June 30, 2019, a mob entered Durga Mata Mandir, Lal Kuan in Chandni Chowk had vandalized the idols inside. The locals had posted videos of the temple on social media that showed the Muslim mob entering the temple and thrashing Hindus residents of the neighbourhood.

According to reports, a minor tussle over parking intensified and later snowballed into a stone pelting attack. Later that night, the mob barged into the temple with an intention to desecrate it leading to communal tensions.

Dr Harshvardhan, Union Minister and MP from Chandni Chowk had visited the area to take stock of the situation. While condemning the incident, he had directed the police to take strict action against the culprits.

Yesterday, several Hindu activists had pledged to ‘reclaim civilisation’, while one activist, Aviral Sharma had announced on Twitter that the group would be reciting Hanuman Chalisa at the vandalized Durga temple. However, Aviral was allegedly detained by the local police station and was pressurized to cancel the event.

He was later released and was then joined by more than 300 activists and local residents at the temple, where chants of Jai Shree Ram reverberated through the lanes.

Ex VP Hamid Ansari endangered lives of RAW unit members, exposed RAW set-up in Tehran, former RAW officer claims

Former RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) officer has made explosive allegations that former Vice President Hamid Ansari who has served as Indian Ambassador to Iran between 1990-92, endangered the lives of RAW officers in Tehran and even ended up exposing the RAW set-up in Tehran.

He even alleged that Hamid Ansari teamed up with Ratan Sehgal, Additional Secretary in the IB to destroy Gulf units of the RAW prior to 1992 Bombay blasts. (Editor’s note: He perhaps meant 1993 blats, but mistakenly tweeted wrong year.)

A report published by The Sunday Guardian, claims that former RAW officers have now written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an inquiry against Ansari for “damaging the RAW operations” when he was posted as an ambassador in Tehran, Iran. As per the report, the officers have claimed that Ansari not only failed to protect India’s national interest, but also cooperated with the Iranian government and its intelligence agency SAVAK which caused a serious dent to RAW and its operations. According to them, there were four major incidents when Indian Embassy officials and diplomats were kidnapped by SAVAK and Ansari deliberately failed in his duties to protect India’s interest.

Sood, former RAW officer told Sunday Guardian about an incident involving an Indian official, Sandeep Kapoor in May 1991. According to Sood, Kapoor was kidnapped from Tehran Airport by SAVAK. Ansari, who was then posted in Tehran, was informed about it but he played it down. Not only did he not take any steps to find Kapoor, but in the confidential report he sent to the MEA, he did not mention the involvement of SAVAK. He only said how Kapoor’s activities were suspected in Iran as he was believed to be involved with a local woman.

Three days after he went missing, Indian Embassy was informed by an anonymous phone call that Kapoor was lying on the road-side. Kapoor was heavily drugged, effects of which lasted years.

Recalling another incident, Sood told The Sunday Guardian that in August 1991, RAW was keeping an eye on Kashmiri youths who were regularly visiting Qom, a religious centre of Iran, and were taking arms training. RAW’s new station chief, D. B. Mathur was advised by fellow RAW officers not to inform about the operations to Ansari. However, Mathur informed Ansari and Ansari allegedly passed on the information to Iranian Foreign Office, which passed it on to SAVAK which eventually picked up Mathur.

When Ansari didn’t take any concrete step to get Mathur back, the RAW officers secretly managed to inform Atal Bihari Vajpayee about Mathur, who in turn informed the then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao. Eventually, four days after he was kidnapped, Mathur was released from Evin prison and asked to leave the country within 72 hours. After he was released and within safety of Indian Embassy, Mathur informed how SAVAK was aware of identities of Sood and the station chief which he claimed becasue Ansari passed it on to Iranian Foreign Office.

The letter to the PM also includes an incident where P. K. Venugopal, the RAW station chief, was picked up by SAVAK and beaten up before being let go. Ansari never lodged a complaint with Iranian authorities, the letter claims. The letter claims that Ansari’s long and regular meetings with Pakistan Ambassador in Tehran were also not reported to the MEA.

The RAW officers are hoping for a thorough inquiry into the matter by Prime Minister Modi. “Ansari also brought other Indian Ambassadors in Dubai, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia to target R&AW units in their respective missions. At the time of the Bombay blasts, the R&AW’s capabilities vis-a-vis Gulf countries were in total disarray,” the letter reads.

Sood has claimed that when Ansari was transferred from Iran, in mid-1993, there were celebrations in the Indian Embassy.

Former Vice President Hamid Ansari has been surrounded by controversies after his tenure as VP got over. He has backed the idea of setting up of the Shariat courts in every district of the country. After his retirement, he had issued a statement saying he is feeling insecure and uneasy as a citizen of the country. His statements were condemned by all sections of the society. He was also seen in a programme organized militant Islamic organization Popular Front of India (PFI) which has been accused by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) of being involved in the controversial ‘love jihad’ cases in Kerala. He had also praised the students who protested for Jinnah’s portrait in Aligarh Muslim University.

Backed by the Left, Ansari was the second Vice-President of India to serve two consecutive terms after S. Radhakrishnan.

Kerala: Govt funded Christian centre spreads superstition, ‘magical weekly gospel’ for better marks, early marriage and health benefits

A government-funded Christian centre has been spreading superstition in the Alappuzha district in Kerala. In 1989, the Kreupasanam Marian Retreat Centre and Socio-Cultural Centre was established in the Kalavoor village. The centre is led by Fr. V. P. Joseph Valiyaveetil. The objective of the centre is to develop individuals and society through a religio-socio-cultural movement.

Just a few days back, news broke out that the centre’s propaganda paper known as the ‘Kreupasanam newspaper’ was circulated in a government school in Pattanakkad village in Alappuzha. As per reports, the students of SCU government vocational higher secondary school were told to keep the Kreupasanam newspaper safely with them in order to get higher marks in the exams. Students were told to keep the paper within their books and under their pillow before going to sleep, so as to do well in their exams.

The paper was distributed by a class 8 teacher known as Joseph. He convinced students that the paper did indeed possess such a quality. Enraged parents on finding out about this had complained that the teacher was spreading superstition. Parents have complained to the education department but they are yet to take any action against him. Reports say that the teacher had taken leave by the time the parents had complained.

As claimed by the members of this Christian centre, the Kreupasanam newspaper can be used in many different ways. Here are some testimonials that were posted on its website.

In a shocking case of one such experiment with the ‘miraculous’ Kreupasanam paper, a woman had to admit her 27-year-old daughter to the hospital after she fell extremely sick. As reported by Marunadan Malayali, the woman belonged to a Christian family and was worried that her daughter wasn’t married yet. She wanted to do something to get her married as soon as possible. However, her daughter did not believe in any superstition and despite her best efforts, she couldn’t convince her to indulge in some faith-based act to fix the situation.

The woman then decided to do something about it without her knowledge. Heeding the advice of Fr. V. P. Joseph Valiyaveetil, she bought a Rs 2000 Kreupsanam newspaper. Tearing the paper into pieces she mixed it with the dosa batter and served the dosas to her daughter. The daughter did sense a change in taste but the woman said that it was because she had used cheaper cooking oil which she bought recently.

A few days later, the daughter fell sick. She was suffering from severe itching and vomiting. She was admitted to the hospital where the doctor said that she was suffering from food poisoning. It was only then that the mother had revealed the truth.

As mentioned on the website, this ‘magical newspaper’ is available in both Malayalam and English. More details are available here.

In May 2019, the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishath (KSSP) had filed a complaint with the district magistrate and district police chief against the Kreupasanam centre. As per reported by the Deccan Chronicle, this centre had received 25 lakh government grant to promote the heritage of Chavittuna-takam, a local art form.

In the petition, they said that this money was used by the centre to print and publish ‘Kreupasanam newspaper’, a propaganda paper that talks about miracles. The petition says that the distribution of the paper violated the Drug and Magic Remedies (Objectionable and Advertisement) Act.

The report also says that this paper was widely distributed in bus stops, railway stations, hospitals and other public places to attract the people. KSSP has claimed that hundreds of suffering people were cheated by them.

Unfortunately, Kerala does not have an anti-superstition law. In May, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) had asked the government to enact a law against sorcery and superstitions. This came after a mother and daughter had committed suicide in one such case involving superstition.

As of now only the state of Maharashtra (in 2013) and Karnataka (in 2017) have passed legislation against superstition and bad rituals.

Several Christian bodies in Kerala have been the source of a lot of trouble. Recently, a Church was accused of illegal encroachment on the sacred land of Panchalimedu near the Sabarimala temple. A report has indicated that Evangelists in Kerala are turning jobless after the Modi government’s crackdown on foreign funds.

Karnataka turmoil: Congress-JDS govt on the verge of an imminent collapse as MLAs who resigned get on a plane to Goa

0

There is an imminent threat to the Congress-JDS coalition government in the state of Karnataka following the resignations from 13 legislators of the Congress-JDS government, even as the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy continues to holiday in the US. 13 rebel legislators of the ruling coalition, eight from the Congress and three from the Janata Dal (Secular), had submitted their resignation to the Vidhan Sabha speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar. Later, after resigning, the rebel MLAs met the Governor Vajubhai Vala at the Raj Bhavan.

Among the Congress MLAs who have offered their resignation to the Speaker, the former Home Minister and seven-time MLA Ramalinga Reddy, Ramesh Jarkilohi, Mahesh Kumathahalli, ST Somashekar, BA Basavaraj, BC Patil, Pratapgowda Patil and Shivram Heber are the ones who have presented their resignations to the speaker. Whereas, H Vishwanath, K. Gopaliya and Narayana Gowda are the JDS MLAs who submitted their resignations.

The rebel JDS MLA H Vishwanath who was removed as state JDS president just days ago, said, “We have given our resignation to the Speaker’s office. We have brought this to the notice of the governor as well. We request that our resignations be accepted.”

According to the numerics, the Congress and JDS coalition need to have 113 legislators to remain in power. Currently, they have 116 MLAs in the 224-member state assembly. If the resignations of the 11 lawmakers are accepted, the alliance will fall short of the majority mark. Right from its inception, the alliance between Congress and JDS had been shaky and wavering due to myriad struggles and revolts due to infighting.

“I have come to submit my resignation to the speaker,” Ramalinga Reddy told news agency ANI while waiting at Speaker Ramesh Kumar’s office. He further added, “I am not going to impute anyone in the party or the high command. I somewhere feel I was being neglected over some issues. That is why I have taken this decision.”

The troubleshooter minister for Karnataka Congress, DK Shivakumar, had tried to cajole the three Congress lawmakers, including Ramalinga Reddy, to go with him, after meeting the rebels at the Speaker’s office. However, they were later seen entering the Governor’s office.

The rebel Karnataka Congress-JDS MLAs were seen at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport in Bengaluru. 10 of the rebel Congress-JDS employees have left for Goa. 3 have stayed behind.

BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa has rubbished the allegations made by the Congress party that BJP is indulging in horse-trading. Yeddyurappa said, “I and my party have no role in the developments happening in other rival parties. I heard through media that Congress-JDS legislators have resigned from their Karnataka Assembly seats. I’m categorically reiterating that BJP has absolutely no say on the issue.”

However, Congress party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has asserted that BJP is behind the resignation of the rebel MLAs. Surjewala said, “A new symbol of horse trading politics has emerged in the country.”

An emergency meeting is called upon by the Karnataka state Congress which is attended by Karnataka Congress in-charge, KC Venugopal, CLP leader Siddaramaiah, KPCC working president Eashwar Khandre, DK Shivakumar, DK Suresh and others to discuss possible alternatives to avert the looming crisis.

Watch: Hanuman Chalisa and chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ reverberate in Hauz Qazi Durga Mandir that was earlier desecrated by Muslim mob

On 30th June 2019, Durga Mandir in the heart of Hauz Qazi, Delhi was desecrated by a strong Muslim mob. The idols of the temple were broken and according to the local Hindus of Hauz Qazi, the miscreants urinated in the temple as well. After communal tension simmered in the area for days, Hindu activists today organised a prayer event and recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa at the Durga Mandir that was earlier vandalised.

Earlier in the day, the main organiser of the event, a Hindu activist called Aviral Sharma was detained by the local police in a bid to allegedly intimidate him into cancelling the event.

After pressure to release Aviral built up and the activist refused to cancel the event, he was let go by the Gokulpuri police station.

After his release, Aviral had taken to Twitter to invite activists yet again inviting fellow Hindu activists to join him at Durga Mandir, Lal Kuan at 7 PM for the prayer event.

The prayer event was enthusiastically attended by not only the activists but also the Hindu residents of Durga Mandir Wali Gali.

Nine people have been arrested in connection with the desecration of the Durga Mandi in Hauz Qazi in Delhi’s Chandi Chowk area. Out of them, four have been identified as juveniles. The communal tension in Hauz Qazi was triggered by a skirmish caused by an argument over parking. When the argument over parking in the area became intense, some people started pelting stones. Later in the night a mob entered the temple and vandalised it. The police have confirmed that Muslim youths in the area attacked the temple.

Delhi: Condition of the 6-year-old minor girl who was brutally raped by Mohammed Nanhe remains critical

On July 2, 2019, one Mohammed Nanhe carried out a brutal sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl in the National Capital’s Dwarka-Sector 23 and later abandoned her. The victim was abducted from near her house and taken to an isolated place where the accused raped her. The minor was found lying in a pool of blood by a passerby in the bushes adjacent to a road and was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

The victim was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. The condition of the girl remains fragile as she has sustained serious injuries in her private parts, including ruptured veins. Doctors have also claimed that there were bite marks on her stomach.

However, four days since the terrible tragedy befell her, the condition of the little girl continues to remain very critical. Her inconsolable father lamented, “I heard about Delhi a lot. I came here to earn bread and butter for my family. What have I achieved! My little girl is unable to speak. All she could speak is Papa-Papa. She is unable to speak anything else.”

He further added the condition of the girl is so fragile that she couldn’t speak anything to the judge when he had come to record her statement. The judge said he would come later to record the statement.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal expressed his anguish over the shocking incident of the rape of a minor girl in the heart of the nation’s capital. He also assured the victim’s father of every and all manner of support and cooperation from the Delhi government along with Rs 10 lakh as compensation and a reputed lawyer for getting the culprit punished and setting an example for others.

According to media reports, the girl was going to a temple when she was lured by the accused. The police found a CCTV in the area of crime, which caught the face of the accused. With the help of this footage, Delhi police identified and nabbed the accused. Nanhe lived in the same locality as the little girl. He has reportedly confessed to his crimes to the police.
