Gujarat Court orders inquiry into Rahul Gandhi’s ‘murder accused’ comment against Amit Shah after complaint

Rahul Gandhi had recently called BJP President Amit Shah ‘murder accused’ during an election rally at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. A defamation complaint was filed against the Congress President for his ostensibly false remark on Wednesday.

Now, a metropolitan court in Gujarat on Friday has ordered an inquiry into the matter on the basis of the complaint filed by BJP’s Khadia councillor Krishnavadan Brahmbhatt, DNA has reported. The Court will decide on the 30th of April on whether to take cognizance of the complaint or not.

“Thereafter, the court recorded the deposition of Brahmbhatt and two of his witnesses—Jigesh Dani and Umang Naik—in the case and adjourned the hearing till April 30, when it will decide on whether to take cognizance in the case and issue summons to Gandhi, or not,” Brambhatt’s lawyer Prakash Patel told DNA.

A host of lawsuits have been filed against Rahul Gandhi in recent times for false comments he has made in public. Not long ago, he was forced to apologize before the Supreme Court over his comments where he had claimed that the highest court of the country had said ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’.

In another defamation complaint that was filed against the Congress President by the RSS for his comments that the saffron organization was responsible for the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, he made a U-Turn in the Court and claimed that he had never said such a thing and asserted that his comments had been misinterpreted.

On Wednesday, another complaint was filed against Rahul Gandhi for failing to mention in his election affidavits that he had received summons related to a defamation case.

Rahul Gandhi stitches an alliance with Babu Singh Kushwaha, out on bail in NHRM scam, whose corruption he had himself condemned

The Congress party has formed an alliance in Uttar Pradesh with the Jan Adhikar Manch(JAM) Party headed by Babu Singh Kushwaha, Times Now has reported. It’s the same Kushwaha who was allegedly involved in the National Rural Health Mission Scam. As per Times Now, 5 seats have been granted to the party.

Interestingly enough, Rahul Gandhi had himself spoken out against Kushwaha in 2012 when the BJP had attempted to induct him in the party after Mayawati forced him to resign. The Congress President had claimed that Kushwaha had approached the Congress as well but was refused.

“The Youth Congress exposed him (Kushwaha) and his corrupt practices through an RTI (application). He approached Congress and pleaded to take him in the party and save him. But, we refused and said, we would not save you. You will be sent to jail,” he had said.

The CBI had registered five cases on January 2, 2012, against certain government and private sector officials, including one against Kushwaha alleging a loss of about Rs 28 crore in implementing the centrally-sponsored scheme meant for 72 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Kushwaha was later arrested by the CBI as well.

It is notable here that Kushwaha had joined the BJP briefly after being sacked by Mayawati. But he was arrested and jailed along with BSP MLC Ram Prasad Jayaswal soon afterward. BJP had alleged at that time that Mayawati is the person behind the corruption and NHRM scam. Kushwaha’s induction in the BJP had caused serious tiff inside the party as many senior leaders were against it. Finally, the party had severed ties with him.

In May, last year, a special court of the CBI had issued non-bailable warrants against Kushwaha, merely a year after he was granted bail in the matter by the Allahabad High Court. Kushwaha has spent four years in jail.

In the 2017 UP assembly elections, Kushwaha’s Jan Adhikar Manch had contested in 150 seats but had failed to win any of them. His wife and brother are members of the Samajwadi Party.

Congress’ stitching an alliance with Kushwaha before the general elections when the party had itself criticised his inclusion with political opponents, is going to cause some stirs.

The Quint’s biased and wayward journalism may hurt Bloomberg’s global brand

0

Raghav Bahl, founder of Quintillion Media Pvt. Ltd which runs news website thequint.com, signed a joint venture agreement with New York based Bloomberg LP in April 2016 to launch a co-branded digital product – BloombergQuint. According to the deal, Raghav Bahl will own 74% stake and Bloomberg the remaining 26%; the pact is for a 10-year period.

However, The owner of The Quint, Raghav Bahl is an individual of suspect credibility who has recently been subject of Income Tax raids for allegation of engaging in tax evasion and money laundering. It remains a mystery how such controversies don’t appear to impact the career of media personalities.

It is not just about Mr. Bahl, even his website The Quint, through its skewed brand of journalism is fishing in troubled waters. This may negatively impact Bloomberg’s illustrious brand which signals trust and neutrality built over years of passionate work in the field of Media, Business and Philanthropy.

Recently I came to know that Mr. Michael Bloomberg is possibly considering a presidential run in 2020. These pernicious associations with The Quint might hurt his credibility and jeopardise his standing as neutral person vis-a-vis affairs of a foreign country. This assumes an oversized importance in the backdrop of current investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

I am not sure if my article will reach him, but I just want him to know that the followings are some the concerns about the politically motivated journalism being produced by The Quint in India:

  • The Quint has earned notoriety for being a constant source of misinformation and agenda driven news
  • In its attempt to sensationalize stories, The Quint has often resorted to blatant lies, doctored videos, half truths and twisted statements of individuals
  • Further, instead of reporting facts, The Quint perpetuates a narrative that will help a particular political party and even on occasions undermine national security. Such reporting is also hurting the chances of BloombergQuint getting a license for starting a TV Channel
  • The writers at The Quint have used violent rhetoric on social media against the national leadership which is uncharacteristic of a media house

If someone thinks I am making up these charges, I have collected several examples which highlight the malpractice The Quint has indulged in, in the name of journalism. Here are some of those:

1. Kulbhushan Jadhav branded as an Indian Spy

  • A story written on Jan 6, 2018 by The Quint’s Political & Opinion Editor, Chandan Nandy was taken down
  • The Quint published an article detailing how their sources confirmed that Kulbhushan Jadhav was an Indian spy, something the Indian Government and the RAW vehemently denied
  • The story claimed that two former RAW chiefs said that they were opposed to the recruitment of Jadhav as a spy
  • Pakistani government & media lapped up the story as gospel truth & even officially claimed that Nandy had gone missing

2. Soldier commits suicide after The Quint report

  • In Feb 2017, Poonam Mahajan’s covert reporting for The Quint led to Lance Naik Roy Mathew’s suicide at the Deolali Cantonment
  • “Preliminary investigations have now revealed that the suicide may be a result of series of events which were triggered by the media personnel managing to videograph the deceased by asking leading questions on his duties as a buddy (Sahayak System) without his knowledge. It is very likely that the guilt factor of letting down his superiors or conveying false impression to an unknown individual, led (him) to take the extreme step” – an Army statement said.
  • According to media reports, she was charged with criminal trespass & abetment to suicide under sections of Official Secrets Act (OSA)

3. Writers at The Quint wishing death to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

  • A contributing writer to The Quint, Suprateek Chatterjee had tweeted these malicious & menacing birthday greeting to PM Narendra Modi. He was fired by Quint subsequently for his shocking act
  • Another writer at The Quint, Vikas Malhotra, in his tweet wrote he prefers political assassinations to create history, as he wished a sniper to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was campaigning in Varanasi
The original tweet has been deleted. Screenshot thanks to this tweet.

4. Income Tax raids at The Quint founder Raghav Bahl’s house over alleged tax evasion

  • I-T raids were carried out and allegation of tax evasion as well as money laundering has surfaced against Raghav Bahl
  • Raj Kumar Modi, managing director of PMC FinCorp, a shell company in which Raghav Bahl had invested his money, recently gave a statement. He has alleged that Bahl had converted unaccounted black money/cash to cheque—without paying any taxes—by booking Long Term Capital Gain (LTCG) of more than ₹100 crore in PMC Fincorp. IT officials claim that this is strong evidence unearthed to support their earlier suspicions
  • Raj Kumar Modi further said that Bahl’s chartered accountant Mohan Lal had given him ₹100 crore in cash “to convert into white”. This ₹100 crore was allegedly used by Modi’s Kolkata-based shell companies to buy shares of PMC FinCorp at jacked-up prices from Bahl.
  • It was also earlier reported, that Bahl had allegedly made ₹114 crore out of an investment of ₹3.03 crore made in a penny stock company called PMC Fincorp that was promoted by a certain Raj Kumar Modi in 2011. IT officials at the time had also alleged that herein lies a matter of tax evasion in the name of long-term capital gains
  • Raj Kumar Modi named Raghav Bahl and his wife (Ritu Kapoor), as the major beneficiaries of his money laundering operations through PMC Fincorp. “So far as I remember, Ritu Kapoor and Raghav Bahl got Rs 100 crore converted,” Modi said in his statement.

5. Soft on Terror; reports and articles that humanise terrorists

While The Quint has published articles that argued that Hindu festival of Holi has a ‘terror‘ angle, it has humanised real terrorists. The following two screenshots are enough:

Raghav Bahl humanises terrorist
The Quint introduces us to softer side of a terrorist
Quint on Osama
The Quint pays tribute to Osama Bin Laden

6. Misreporting on Surgical Strikes

In a story done by Mr. Chandan Nandy on Sept 21 2016, The Quint falsely claimed that Surgical Strikes happened on Sept 21, 2016 along with claims like – Army had used helicopters to cross the LoC and had manage to kill “at least 20 terrorists”. Strangely, this story was published before the Indian Army came out with the details thereby potentially jeopardising the lives of the soldiers.

However, On Sep 29th, The Director General of military operations of the Indian Army briefed the media and said India had carried out surgical strikes along the Line of Control on the night of September 28 & 29, 2016.

The Quint subsequently published a revised version of the story saying saying the “first” such strike had happened on Sept 20-21, 2016. Also, changed details that the Indian Army had not flown helicopters across the LoC & brought down the number of militants allegedly neutralised “between 10 and 12”.

7. Misreporting on Demonetisation

On Dec 14, 2016, post demonetisation, an article, again by Mr. Chandan Nandy, made a sensational evidence free claim linking the demonetisation decision by Narendra Modi government to American aid agency, USAID, with links to CIA. The story has since been taken down, but Mr. Nandy has not deleted his tweet:

8. Giving cover and space to Urban Naxals

After various so-called activists who were accused of working in tandem with Left Wing terrorists, were arrested, The Quint tried to whitewash them through their reporting. It also ran an opinion piece by Delhi University professor Apoorvanand, which claimed the arrests were a ‘witch-hunt’.

It also insisted that the Modi Government, out of its sheer insecurity is claiming that extreme left wing ideologues are masquerading as teachers and activists:

Pro-Naxal article in The Quint

9. Pro-Rahul Gandhi, anti-Narendra Modi bias

There are many examples of this, but I will cite just a few incidents:

  • The Quint made a fancy video of Rahul’s statements at the London event. In that video, they deliberately omitted the part where Rahul says he has no details of Doklam and made their report about Rahul’s statements where he criticises PM Modi’s ‘handling’ of the issue and where he equates RSS with Muslim Brotherhood.
  • The Quint posted a video titled, ‘Dear PM Modi, You got India’s military history wrong’ claiming that PM Modi has got his facts wrong in stating that General Thimayya was the Army Chief in 1948 and Krishna Menon was the defence minister. The fact is, PM Modi never made any such claims. PM Modi mentioned that the victory was won ‘under the leadership’ of Gen Thimayya.
  • Unnao Rape Case: The Quint used the Unnao rape case to take a cheap shot at PM Modi by publishing a sarcastic story with only a headline and no text claiming ‘PM is yet to speak’ on 13th April 2018 while being fully aware that PMO had intervened on 12 April itself, as they had reported themselves:
Biased reporting by The Quint
(top) The Quint mocks Prime Minister on Unnao rape case, (bottom), The Quint knew a day before that Prime Minister had acted in the case.

These are just 9 examples, and there are many more. The ball is now in Bloomberg’s court.

Villagers in Rajasthan given ‘forms’ of ‘Nyay Yojana’ to receive 72,000 rupees, BJP says people are being fooled

0

In Rajasthan’s Kota, 48 hours before the region goes to polling, some political activists in Kutha Basti area of the town were found circulating fake forms of Congress’ ‘NYAY’ Yojana, causing a stir in the city. Private information was sought in the form and the people were asked to submit the form on E-Mitr to register themselves for receiving Rs 72,000. The BJP has officially lodged a complaint regarding this to the Election Commission.

As the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections is underway, fake forms of Congress’s ‘NYAY’ Yojana have been reportedly distributed among villagers with the aim of luring them into voting for Congress. The form seeks personal information of the voters to register them for being eligible to receive Rs 72,000 yearly.

Twitter user @yash1m, who is a part of the BJP’s IT Cell according to his Twitter profile posted a video of the incident as well.

As can be seen in the above video, many villagers, especially gullible women from the rural areas were given forms of ‘NYAY Yojana which had the election symbol of Congress as well as Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s photo printed on it. Only when they approached the local government office to submit their forms, they realised that the forms distributed to them were fake and were meant to deceive them.

As a part of election gimmick, Rahul Gandhi had declared that if Congress forms a government at the centre, they will implement the NYAY Yojana, aimed at eliminating poverty. He asserted that 5 crore families or 25 crore people who benefit from the scheme.

However, the specifics of the scheme are yet not clear as Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his battery of advisors are not on the same page regarding the funding of such a grand dole scheme. Many senior economists have even raised questions on the feasibility of the scheme.

While his mentor Sam Pitroda had said that middle-class will have to bear the additional burden for funding this scheme, Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, had claimed that the scheme will be financed from the money recovered from the defaulters, which actually belong to depositors. Even the Allahabad High Court had sent a notice to the Election Commission asking whether the scheme can be termed as an electoral bribe to the voters.

Watch: Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit slams journalist who called URI a ‘propaganda movie’

Filmmaker and former censor board member Ashoke Pandit lost his cool and slammed a journalist recently who had called the movie ‘Uri: The Surgical Strikes’ as a propaganda movie.

As per reports, on 24 April 2019, producer Shailendra Singh had organised an event at a five-star hotel in Mumbai to launch his new song ‘One India My India’. The song is sung by Sukhvinder Singh and Zubin Nautiyal and music composer Mithun has composed its music.

As per reports, during the launch event, a journalist asked singer Sukhvinder Singh, “Under the BJP government there is a fearful environment in the country and ‘propaganda movies’ like Uri, The Accidental Prime Minister, and Indu Sarkar have been released”. He also added, “Bollywood is being used for the personal benefit of a political party which is something that has never happened before, so what is your opinion about them”.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bym-d6PO8aM]

Upon the branding of Uri, Indu Sarkar and The Accidental Prime Minister as ‘propaganda movies’, filmmaker and former CBFC member Ashoke Pandit took a strong objection. Ashoke Pandit, who was present among the audience as a friend of the producer, raised a strong objection to the journalist attempting to brand the said movies as ‘propaganda movies’.

It is notable here that the movie The Accidental Prime Minister (which was co-produced by Pandit) was based on the tenure of former PM Manmohan Singh and the movie Indu Sarkar was based on the period of emergency imposed by former PM Indira Gandhi. Both the movies were highly criticised by Congress leaders and their supportive media ecosystem as it showed the reality of Congress’ dynasty politics and how it undermines India’s constitution and democratic values regularly.

Uri: The Surgical Strikes was an action movie starring Vicky Kaushal which narrated the story of how the brave soldiers of para special forces had ventured into the PoK and had destroyed the terror launch pads supported by Pakistan’s army and ISI. It had got rave reviews and is one of the most commercially successful movies this year.

Pandit stated that mob lynchings had happened in 1947 during the partition too and there have been many mob lynchings ever since. He slammed the reporter’s attempts to brand the movies as propaganda movies and said that how can he make such allegations as it was not the BJP who had made these movies.

Speaking to Nav Bharat Times after the incident, Pandit stated that though the question was not directed towards him, it was politically motivated and prejudiced. He also asked why had they not questioned the mob lynchings of 1947 and thereafter. Pandit said that a lot of hard work goes into the making of movies and to brand them as politically motivated or as propaganda is wrong.

It is notable here that Ashoke Pandit belongs to the Kashmiri Pandit community and he often raises the issue of the genocide and systematic expulsion of Pandits from the Kashmir valley. He stated that while the genocide and lynching of Pandits in the valley get ignored by a certain group, Uri, which captures the valor of our defense forces, being called a propaganda movie had hurt him deeply.

Congress leader Raj Babbar’s cheap sexual innuendo, says that Mamta Banerjee has figured out the size of Modi’s kurta

Senior Congress leader, Raj Babbar, on Saturday, made a despicable jibe at Mamata Banerjee over recent remark of Prime Minister Modi that he receives Kurtas and sweets from the West Bengal Chief Minister despite being the target of her bitter remarks. Babbar questioned how did Mamata Banerjee know the size of Narendra Modi’s Kurta.

“Two products from West Bengal are famous across the world. One is sweets made of cottage cheese and another is the ‘kurta’. But till date, Mamata ji has not sent these two to us or anyone else. If she wants to gift them, she sends it to only one person. So you can understand that she knows the size of a kurta. Earlier, we used to raise questions if the size of his chest is 56 inches or not,” Babbar said at a press conference at New Delhi.

Modi’s Kurta and Sweets remarks appear to be having some sort of a ripple effect on the ground as Mamata Banerjee, too, spoke out against it viciously. Mamata said that she will send sweets made of soil with pebbles in it just like laddoos are stuffed with cashews and almonds which will break his teeth.

It appears to have become the norm for opposition party leaders to make sexist and vulgar remarks against political oppositions. Recently senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was imposed a 72-hour ban by the Election Commission for making sexist and highly derogatory remarks about Jaya Prada regarding her undergarments. This was followed by Azam Khan’s son making another sexist remark against Prada who called her Anarkali. Then, Congress leader Ajay Singh had referred to BJP MP Riti Pathak as ‘Maal’ at a campaign rally.

The Congress party supports ‘Mr’ Yasin Malik, calls him brave for refusing to surrender

One wondered how long it would take for the Congress party to lose all semblance of reasonability after BJP fielded Sadhvi Pragya from Bhopal, and it seems that the moment of reckoning is upon us. In latest Congress news, senior Congress leader PC Chacko has called Yasin Malik brave for refusing to surrender.

PC Chacko, senior Congress party leader said that even though the Congress does not support the ideology of Yasin Malik or his actions, the courage shown by Yasin Malik is “something which should be appreciation”. He said “Delhi cannot threaten anybody” because India is a democracy.

In essence, Congress is now hailing a terrorist like Yasin Malik for having the “courage” to not surrender when he is being arrested by the state police or central forces for the grave charges against him.

Senior Congress leader PC Chacko said this while talking about Sadhvi Pragya and her candidature from Bhopal on a BJP ticket.

PC Chacko said, “If Pragya Singh Thakur, a convicted person, an accused person, can contest an election, and in the name of separatism, Delhi is asking him (Yasin Malik) at gunpoint to surrender, anyone with self-respect will react the way Mr Yasin Malik did”.

Interestingly, Chacko calls Sadhvi Pragya both ‘accused’ and ‘convicted’. The fact remains that the Congress government back in the day had conspired maliciously and used Sadhvi to create the false narrative of Hindu terror. The MCOCA charges against Sadhvi Pragya were dropped and the NIA had given her a clean chit. The court case that is still ongoing makes her an ‘accused’ not someone who is ‘convicted’, just like Rahul Gandhi is ‘accused’ and ‘out-on-bail’ and not ‘convicted’.

Secondly, Congress party leader Chacko shows exemplary sympathy for Yasin Malik, who had once on video admitted to killing IAF officers and is one of the mains cogs of unrest, violence and separatism in the Kashmir Valley by saying that the central government is hounding him ‘in the name of separatism’. Chacko says that “anyone with self-respect” will react the way MR. Yasin Malik did.

This is not the first time that Congress has displayed sympathy for terrorists. Rahul Gandhi himself had called terrorist Masood Azhar “Masood Azhar JI” after Rahul had got unbridled support from Pakistan. Senior leader Digvijay Singh had called the Pulwama terror attack an ‘accident’ and who can forget how he released the book ’26/11 RSS Ki Saazish’ after Pakistani terrorists had carried out terrorist attacks in Mumbai. PC Chacko’s statement is clearly, just symptomatic to Congress party’s deeper malaise of sympathising with terrorists.

Ajai Shukla’s lie that was furthered by ‘journalists’ like Abhisar Sharma slammed by the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force took to Twitter today debunk malicious lies being spread by Ajai Shukla, former NDTV journalist and current Business Standard columnist, in his blog about the IAF Court of Inquiry constituted to probe the helicopter crash in Srinagar on 27th February being put on hold until the elections are over.

The official Twitter handle of Indian Air Force said that Ajai Shukla had incorrectly speculated in his blog that the IAF Court of Inquiry constituted to investigate the Mi-17 V5 crash at Srinagar on 27th February has been put on hold. “This is his imagination and IAF categorically denies this”, said IAF.

IAF also said that the Court of Inquiry of aircraft accidents is meticulous and time-consuming. All past inquiries of aircraft accidents bear testimony to this. Proceedings of a Court of Inquiry are not commented upon by IAF till completion of the inquiry in all cases. There is no connection between elections and the completion of the Court of Inquiry.

Ajai Shukla had in his blog written that, “The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been told to keep on hold the findings of a “court of inquiry” (CoI) that has conclusively determined that an IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter was shot down by an Indian missile battery that was guarding Srinagar air base”.

In fact, even in his blog, Ajai Shukla had said that the Indian Air Force had refused to respond to these wild speculations by Ajai Shukla saying that the inquiry is still in progress and the time span taken for a Court of Inquiry to reach a conclusion cannot be predicted.

It is evident that Ajai Shukla went ahead with his wild theories connecting the Indian Air Force’s Court of Inquiry proceedings to the ongoing 2019 elections being connected in order to insinuate that the government had something to hide about the operations that were carried out post the Pulwama terror attack and the events that took place after the Balakot airstrikes where Pakistan attempted to breach our borders. Ajai Shukla, after the Pulwama terror attack, was more concerned about Prime Minister Modi ‘benefitting’ from the terror attack rather than the terror being unleashed by Pakistan on India and the families of the martyrs.

This blatant lie, in fact, was also furthered by other so-called journalists.

Abhisar Sharma retweeting Ajai Shukla blog plugged by another journalist

The very journalists who have been quick to doubt the government of India as far as the Balakot airstrikes were concerned furthered this lie by Ajai Shukla. Among the people who furthered this lie was Krishan Pratap Singh and Abhisar Sharma.

Why is Indian intelligentsia silent on AAP’s promise to throw non-Delhi students out of Delhi University?

On August 16, 1968, a baby boy was born to proud parents Gobind Ram and Gita Devi in Bhiwani district in Haryana. According to Wikipedia, he spent his childhood in towns like Hisar & Sonipat (Haryana) and Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). When he finished school, he went to study at IIT Kharagpur located in West Bengal, presumably by clearing the all India entrance exam. After graduating from IIT Kharagpur, he took up a job at Tata Steel in Jamshedpur (then in Bihar, now in Jharkhand). A few years later, this boy who grew up in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, who got a college education in West Bengal and a job in Jharkhand, became an Income Tax officer in Delhi, having cleared the all India civil service exams.

That boy was Arvind Kejriwal. Today he is the Chief Minister of Delhi. And he wants to make sure that kids who are not from Delhi stay out of Delhi University.

Untitled.png

He wants an 80% quota in Delhi University for kids who have done their schooling from Delhi. The stated objective: to make sure that Delhi kids who score a mere 50% in their Board Exams are assured a place in Delhi University.

Such are the ways of politicians.

But why is India’s famously liberal, famously honest and famously vocal intelligentsia silent about a political plan to destroy Delhi University? Do they not care about one of our finest institutions of higher learning?

First of all, let us get the basics right. Delhi University is a Central University. As a Central University, every citizen of India, no matter where they reside, has an equal claim to Delhi University. Asking for a “Delhi quota” in DU simply because the university is located in Delhi would be like asking IIT Delhi or AIIMS to reserve seats for Delhi students because they are based in Delhi too. Or for that matter, like IIT Kharagpur (where Kejriwal studied) having a quota for Bengali students because they are located in West Bengal.

In other words, it would be patently absurd and unfair.

The AAP makes a counter “argument” that is laughable: if other states can reserve seats for their students, why not Delhi? Well, that’s because institutions with names like “Mumbai University” or “Bangalore University” are state government universities, while Delhi University is a Central University. Just like Allahabad University is a Central University and has no quotas for students from Uttar Pradesh. Neither does IIT Mumbai have any quota for students from Maharashtra.

Again, forget the politicians. What happened to our intellectuals who have been so worried in the last five years about the supposed political interference with “institutions”? Will they let the Delhi University community be torn apart by the worst kind of identity politics? Are they willing to sacrifice Delhi University and kickstart similar absurd demands for “reservations for locals” at other central institutions like IITs? These days liberals are aggressively promoting Raj Thackeray. So what is next? A demand for 80% reservation for locals at IIT Mumbai?

So far I have only mentioned the Constitutional/Legal perspective of all Indians having an equal claim on Central Government institutions regardless of where they are situated. But there are many other angles to this. The lifeblood of an institution of higher learning is its ability to attract young minds from the most diverse possible talent pool. Stagnation is decay. If Delhi University were forced to cater to just one city, the campus community would choke, standards would fall and its reputation would be in tatters. The AAP is quite upfront about this, promising that Delhi based students with just 50% in their Board Exams would still make it to DU!

Remember, this does not help any real people, including students from Delhi. Once the reputation of DU collapses, what would you do with a degree from DU anyway? The only folks who might benefit would be AAP politicians, who are counting on people not to realize the fallacy of their promise.

Secondly, think about the social justice angle of this and the hypocrisy of it all. As a thumb rule, it is safe to assume that students in Delhi have vastly more learning opportunities than students in most parts of the country. Now there are people who want the already underprivileged students from Bihar, from Uttar Pradesh, from the North East and the rest of the country to be kicked in the teeth and shut out of Delhi University. All this so that Delhi students with 50% in their Board Exams can get a free pass into DU. Where are our liberals who manage to “intellectualize” even left-wing terrorism in the name of social justice? Can they not see the unfairness of this?

Now compare and contrast this with the “liberal” stance on some other issues. Think about the Assamese who are getting uprooted from large swathes of their home state by the overwhelming onslaught of infiltrators from Bangladesh. The “liberal” condescends on those who express such fears, calls them xenophobic and racist. The liberal wants the North East to make space for Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas from Myanmar. The “liberal” file PILs in the Supreme Court demanding that the Indian state should divert its welfare spending from hundreds of millions of Indian poor to those from Bangladesh and Myanmar.

And the same liberal has nothing to say if a DU seat is offered to a Delhi student who scores 50% rather than a student from a deprived district in Bihar who has scored 90%.

Now we know AAP may never get a chance to implement its agenda. But the seed has been sowed. The intellectual fabric of Delhi University has been placed permanently under stress. “Where are you from? What is your race? What is your ethnicity?” are the worst questions that you can ask a scholar in a learning environment. It leads nowhere but darkness.  A learning environment comes alive only when we discuss each other’s ideas and not their race or ethnicity.

Shhh….say no more. Because ‘secularism’. Another of those buzzwords like ‘social justice’ or ‘institutional independence’ that the liberal elite uses as per their convenience to justify bringing in a regime that will keep the wine flowing at their dinner parties in Lutyens Delhi.

Days after joining Congress, Shatrughan sees light, says Jinnah and Rahul Gandhi contributed to independence and development

Soon after joining the Congress, Shatrughan Sinha has started praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the orchestrator of India’s partition and the man responsible for the death of millions of Hindus.

As per a report in ABP News, Sinha had attended an election rally in Sausar, Madhya Pradesh under the Chhindwara constituency where MP CM Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath is the Congress candidate.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZC6F3lLMag]

Addressing the people gathered in the rally, Sinha stated that the Congress ‘Parivar’ is the party of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Subhash Chandra Bose. They are the persons who have the biggest contribution to India’s development.

Shatrughan Sinha further added that he has come to the Congress party because of these leaders and he will never go to any other party in the future. He also asserted that it is his last party jump.

MP CM Kamal Nath was also sharing the stage with Sinha when he made that statement. With this statement, Sinha has probably joined the ranks of other Congress leaders who find popularity in Pakistan and often mirror Pakistan’s statements.

Sinha has been a constant critic of BJP and PM Modi despite being an MP from BJP. He had been attending opposition rallies and making statements as an opposition leader. He had finally joined Congress after the BJP fielded union minister Ravishankar Prasad as a candidate from Sinha’s Patna Sahib seat.

Earlier, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyer had hailed Jinnah as Quaid-e-Azam and praised him as a great freedom fighter. Speaking at an event in Lahore last year, Aiyer had slammed Veer Savarkar and hailed Jinnah as a great leader. Aiyer had also blamed Savarkar for the partition and had praised Pakistan for its ‘tolerance’.
