India is poised to uplift 2.5 crore households out of poverty by 2030, reports the World Economic Forum

As per a report published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), India is steadily moving towards uplifting around 2.5 crore households out of poverty by 2030. The report said that India will reduce the share of households below the poverty line from present 15 per cent to 5 per cent by the same time.

The WEF report further noted that the upper-middle income and high-income segments will grow from being one in four households today to one in two households by 2030. These achievements would, however, be backed by economic expansion, increase in internet access and a favourable demographic dividend, according to the report.

WEF Report- Evolution of the household-income profile in India

The report titled ‘Future of Consumption in Fast-Growth Consumer Market India’ which released at the beginning of this year, had predictions that India will become the third-largest consumer market behind only the US and China and consumer spending in India is expected to grow from $1.5 trillion at present to nearly $6 trillion by 2030.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has also said recently that the fast economic growth and rapid urbanisation would slash the number of people in extreme poverty by 2021 and end it completely in the decade after that.

“Urbanisation will increase, the size of the middle-class will grow and the economy will expand manifolds,” Jaitley said in a Facebook post.

“These will add to the number of jobs, and as the experience of the past three decades has shown in the liberalised economy, every section of citizens will benefit.” Economic growth in recent years had generated enough revenue for states to work more on poverty alleviation, job creation and improving healthcare and education, he said.

Moreover, James Crabtree, well-known author and journalist, whose book ‘The Billionaire Raj’ was released last year, had written a column in the Nikkei Asian Review titled ‘India’s post-poverty challenge’. In the article, he discussed India’s remarkable progress in curbing poverty and the road ahead.

Crabtree started with a chart published recently with actual data from the World Bank, IMF, World Population prospects by the UN and other socio-economic indicator tools developed by research foundations.

The chart shows India’s progress in bringing poverty down over the last few years. From a significantly high 125 million people in 2016 to less than 75 million in 2018. Taking the applied parameters and projected trends into account, the chart forecasts that India’s poverty rate will continue to fall drastically. By the year 2022, it is expected to come under 20 million and eventually disappearing in a few more years.

A decline in poverty has also been noted by Brookings Report 2018 which said that India is sliding down the global poverty ranking and is no longer home to the world’s most poor.

For poverty, the world bank data use the standard income of fewer than 1.90 dollars a day as the parameter. It was accepted as the minimum amount in most of the poor countries for the basic requirement of food, clothing and shelter.

West Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh claims that TMC will not win a single seat in first 3 phases of Lok Sabha election

The West Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh has claimed that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) will not be able to secure a single seat out of the total of 10 Lok Sabha seats in the State which went to polls in the three phases polls that have concluded. “We are in a better position in the 10 seats where polling is over in the first three phases. We are going to win at least seven to eight of them. I believe that Mamata Banerjee will not be able to digest this but the TMC will draw a blank,” said Ghosh.

Accusing the TMC of creating an atmosphere of terror in the State, Ghosh said that the political situation is changing in favour of BJP now and that people are attending the rallies of the BJP in large numbers despite the threats of TMC activists. “This has not been the situation even six months ago. Now, if you go to the remotest area of the state you will see BJP there”, he said.

Gosh said that his party is confident of winning 23 seats in the state. He said that seeing the huge turn out of people at the BJP rallies, Mamata Banerjee has stopped flying across the State in a helicopter and has started going for unscheduled roadshows. “Mamata Banerjee saw thin attendance at her rallies and bumper crowd in ours. People are joining our rallies in hordes without any fear. And because of this, she has chosen to go for roadshows leaving the helicopter,” he added addressing a Press meet at the Press Club, Kolkata.

He said that his party is working to ensure that people vote freely and without fear and that helping people cast their votes will be the main challenge of the party. “We are trying to make sure that people can cast their votes as this is the prime concern of the people” he said.

Talking about the priorities of his party in the State Ghosh said that restoration of democracy, safety and security of women and bringing back education in the right direction are some of the things that the party has in mind.

Elections for the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal are spread over all seven phases, which will conclude on 19th May.

BSE files a formal complaint against propagandist Kunal Kamra for unauthorised modification and misuse of their brand

Using a morphed image of the prestigious BSE building to peddle his anti-Modi propaganda under the garb of humour has cost dearly for propagandist masquerading as a comedian Kunal Kamra as the Bombay Stock Exchange lodges a formal complaint against him.

The BSE in its letter asserted that the morphed image posted by ‘comedian’ Kunal Kamra is in violation of their brand and intellectual property with unauthorised modification and misuse of their brand. BSE also claimed that the unauthorised modification seems to be misleading its investors and the general public with malafide intent.

Kunal Kamra, known for harbouring leftist tendencies and pathological hatred for Modi government had posted a tweet including a photoshopped photo of Bombay Stock Exchange with its ticker reading ‘Don’t Vote for Modi’.

However, this didn’t go down well with the world’s 10th largest Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of $4.9 trillion. BSE pulled him up for ‘unauthorised and illegal use of BSE building for nefarious activities’. BSE also forewarned him stating that it is contemplating legal action against the so-called ‘comedian’.

Instead of being apologetic for infringing upon the BSE’s brand and intellectual property and misrepresenting it to further his propaganda, Kamra appeared to brazen it out by saying that BSE has a low sense of humour.

Known for posting controversial content on his Twitter page, last year, Kunal Kamra had to temporarily deactivate his Twitter account after some Twitter users dug up his old tweets containing embarrassing jokes on Muslims. When MeToo took India by storm, Kunal Kamra admitted that he turned a blind eye to the sexual harassment perpetrated by one of his friends.

West Bengal: Makhan Bibi force fed acid by husband and in-laws for voting against Trinamool, claims son

In a gruesome incident of political violence, a woman in Murshidabad, West Bengal, was fed acid by her Trinamool supporting husband and in-laws for voting for Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. Makhan Bibi is currently fighting for her life at the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital.

Makhan Bibi’s son, Rafzal, said, “My mother was pulled back home by her hair after she emerged from inside the booth. I tried to protect her but my father, grandfather and uncles locked me inside a room. From there I saw them forcing apart her mouth and pouring acid in it.” He claimed that he and his sister were also beaten up for trying to intervene. During the scuffle, the acid also fell on his sister’s cheeks.

As per reports, Makhan Bibi and her in-laws were divided along political lines. Her maternal family were traditional Congress voters and she had expressed her desire to vote for Congress. However, it did not go down well with her husband and in-laws who are TMC supporters. Accounts apparently differ about what transpired afterwards.

According to her in-laws, she simply drank the acid while her son in his political complaint alleged that she was force fed the acid by her in-laws. According to the Police, however, the violence was a family matter and not related to politics in any manner.

Political violence has been rampant in West Bengal ever since campaigning began for the elections. It has only increased in frequency since polling began. However, Makhan Bibi’s ordeal appears to be unlike anything witnessed yet.

Tripura CM Biplab Deb’s wife denies reports that she has accused her husband of domestic violence, calls them highly paid dirty rumours

Today several media houses reported that Tripura CM Biplab Deb has been accused of domestic violence by his wife, after which she filed for divorce. It was reported that the divorce plea was filed at the Tiz Hazari court in New Delhi. Moneycontrol, CNBCTV18, Quint, DNA, AAP mouthpiece Jantakareporter etc were among the media houses that reported the news.

But Niti Deb, wife of Biplab Deb has denied the reports that she has made any such allegation against her husband, saying only dirty, filthy and sick minds generate such fake news for cheap publicity and mileage. On her Facebook page, she alleged that such dirty rumours are being spread to gain political advantage against influential people. She wrote, “I’m boudi, daughter in law, mother, sister and wife of someone belong to our State, they not just try to tarnish my image but disrespected the love, affection and respect given to me by people of Tripura”. She also requested everyone not to react to such cheap fake rumours.

She also alleged that people were paid high amounts to spread such rumours which uses fake evidence, fake stories and pics.

She also replied to CNBCTV18 tweet carrying the report, calling it fake news. She criticised the news agency for spreading a “news based on rumours for getting cheap publicity, mileage”, she added that they are tarnishing the image of a respected female, which is a crime.

Niti Deb also posted on her Facebook account in a lighter vein that she didn’t know when did she make such allegations against her husband. She added that her love is unconditional and pure, and there is no need to give an explanation about it to anyone.

After Niti Deb denied the reports, CNBCTV18 retracted its report and deleted its tweet. It posted a new tweet saying that in light of court documentation, they have deleted the tweet.

But several other media outlets had already reported about allegations of harassment based on the CNBC report, and those reports are still online and being shared on social media sites.

A day before Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Ahmednagar, Congress district unit dissolves as leaders refuse to support NCP

In a huge setback to Congress party in Maharashtra, the District Congress unit in Ahmednagar has been dissolved just a day before Congress President Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to address an election rally in Sangamner in Ahmednagar district, reports Business Standard.

According to reports, the Ahmednagar District Congress Committee stands dissolved as District Congress Committee president Karan Sasane had refused to campaign for the NCP nominee from the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat, Sangram Jagtap. Karan Sasane has also reportedly resigned from the post of Ahmednagar Congress unit president.

The Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat has gone to Sharad Pawar’s NCP as per the seat-sharing plan between Congress and the NCP in Maharashtra. Ahmednagar went to polls on the third phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections on April 23, but Shirdi constituency which falls in Ahmednagar district will go to polls on April 29.

On Thursday, senior Maharashtra Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, whose son joined the BJP last month, has resigned as the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.

Reportedly, Vikhe Patil had resigned from the post following a prolonged discontent over his son not being nominated as a Congress candidate from the Ahmednagar constituency. However, his son Sujay Vikhe Patil left Congress to join the BJP and also contested the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket.

The Congress party had also issued a show-cause notice to Vikhe Patil for allegedly involving in anti-party activities. Vikhe Patil was served notice after there were reports that he was campaigning for Shiv Sena candidate Sadashiv Lokhande in Shirdi.

Mamata’s grand plan to defeat BJP: Will put pebbles in mitti ke laddu to break Modi’s teeth

Responding to PM Modi’s revelation in his interview with the Bollywood celebrity Akshay Kumar that he shares a cordial relationship with many opposition leaders including Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal CM today sniped at PM Modi in an election rally in West Bengal’s Asansol.

PM Modi in his interaction with Akshay Kumar had revealed that the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee occasionally sends Bengali sweets as well as personally selected kurtas for him. Taking a jibe at PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee today said in an election rally that she will send sweets made of soil with pebbles in it just like laddoos are stuffed with cashews and almonds which will break his teeth.

Mounting an attack on PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee further added that PM Modi didn’t visit West Bengal until he realised that he will need votes from West Bengal. However, it is pertinent to note here that Mamata-led TMC government had laid roadblocks on PM Modi and other senior members’ way to avoid them from conducting rallies in the state.

The TMC government had also stopped the BJP from conducting its Rath Yatra. Many BJP leaders like Shivraj Chouhan, Shahnawaz Hussain, and Yogi Adityanath were stopped by the TMC government from landing their choppers and were also denied permission to hold rallies.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections have seen three rounds of polls so far and West Bengal has been constantly in the news for poll malpractice and political violence. Attacks, murders, and intimidation of political opponents have been rampant in the state, just like the last year’s Panchayat elections.

However, the BJP has stated that it is confident of winning a significant number of seats in West Bengal and this is what is rattling the Mamata government.

Rahul Gandhi camp and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra camp at odds: Sibling rivalry taking an ugly turn?

Sibling rivalry appears to have taken an ugly turn within the Nehru-Gandhi Parivar. Yesterday, it was announced that the Congress party had decided to field Ajay Rai against Prime Minister Modi from Varanasi, ignoring the willingness Priyanka Gandhi had displayed on several past occasions to contest from the constituency.

Rahul Gandhi’s trusted aide, Sam Pitroda, sporting a pitch black beard with snow-white hair as an obscure fashion statement, said on Friday that it was Priyanka Gandhi’s own decision to not contest the elections from Varanasi. He said referring to the Congress president’s sister, “She thought rather than concentrating on one seat she should focus on the job she has at hand. So, that decision was her and she decided it.”

In a twist of events, however, Rajiv Shukla, a senior Congress leader who is believed to be in the Priyanka Camp, differed completely with Pitroda regarding the series of events. According to Shukla, it was Rahul’s decision as Congress president to not field his sister from Varanasi.

Shukla said, “If you remember, she had said since day one that she wanted to fight in Varanasi and said that it was Rahul Gandhi’s decision ultimately. The Congress president decided that the former contestant Ajay Rai who had worked for five years must be given an opportunity to contest. She had said at every platform that the Congress president will decide who will fight.”

Trouble certainly appears to be brewing between the two factions. While we can only speculate who took the final call and what the motivations were, it appears for certain that the Priyanka Camp and Rahul Camp are at odds with each other.

There are two theories here. First, many believe that Priyanka would have been the fall person had she contested from Varanasi and after Congress’ imminent loss, the Rahul camp would protect Rahul and offer Priyanka as the scapegoat. The other camp believes that Rahul Gandhi is doing everything he can to ensure that Priyanka Gandhi does not outshine him, as that would not be a difficult task, considering the dud Rahul Gandhi has turned out to be electorally.

Either way, with the ecosystem peddling various reasons to shield the Gandhis, underneath all of it, there seems to be a fight brewing between Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and the only casualty would be the half-dead political fortunes of Congress.

A day after Priyanka Gandhi chickened out from contesting against PM Modi, Congress ecosystem launches a rescue operation

As Gandhi scion Priyanka Gandhi chickened out from contesting from Varanasi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi fearing a huge loss, the Congress ecosystem was in a sense of trauma and blazed its guns against their masters for not unleashing their ‘Brahmastra’ against Narendra Modi.

A day later, the anguish of the ecosystem seems to have toned down as they have now launched a rescue mission to protect Priyanka Gandhi from further more ridicule and criticism. A series of theories are being put forward to defend Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s decision not to field his sister against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi.

Sam Pitroda, Indian Overseas Congress Chief has now come to rescue both the brother-sister duo by claiming that it was the decision of Priyanka Gandhi not to contest from Varanasi as she has other responsibilities. Pitroda added that Priyanka Gandhi gave a lot of thought and considered that she should not be contesting elections as she has a bigger job than just concentrating on one seat.

Swati Chaturvedi, abusive Congress troll, has come up with her own theories to make sure that her purported masters are protected from further embarrassment. According to Chaturvedi, Rahul and Sonia Gandhi did not want Priyanka Gandhi to start her political career with a defeat.

Another ‘journalist’ Saba Naqvi who is often known to indulge in fake propaganda for Aam Aadmi Party has an interesting story to tell. Naqvi claims that Samajwadi Party was not keen on Priyanka Gandhi contesting from Varanasi as it was allocated to them according to the agreed seat-sharing among the ‘Mahagathbandhan’. According to Naqvi, the Samajwadi Party did not want Priyanka Gandhi to contest as it would have divided votes.

The Congress ecosystem never ceases to amaze with their sycophancy towards the Gandhi family. First, they had backed the Congress President Rahul Gandhi to take on Prime Minister Modi but soon realised that he was a ‘dud’. Soon came princess Priyanka Gandhi, who was thought to be a saviour but, she has chickened out too leaving them in the middle. It is rather interesting to see how would the ecosystem react after all the hullabaloo concerning Priyanka Gandhi.

Havan and Puja in UP, promoting man who butchered a calf in Kerala: The Rahul-Priyanka brand of ‘secularism’

The former Kerala Youth Congress President Rijil Makkutty who was supposedly suspended from Congress for dragging a calf and brutally butchering it in full public view in 2017 is now seen aggressively campaigning for the party in Kerala for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Photos of senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi socialising with Rijil Makkutty were posted by Rijil himself on his Social Media page.

Rijil had uploaded his picture alongside Priyanka Gandhi on April 20, 2019, while she was on her visit to Kerala for addressing election rallies and public meetings. In another post uploaded by him on April 17, 2019, Rijil can be seen welcoming and greeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

In 2017, in defiance against the centre’s move to enforce a ban on cow slaughter, Rijil Makkutty along with his aides had dragged a calf and brutally slaughtered it. Cow is considered as a sacred animal by Hindus and the act of publically slaughtering a calf was meant to send a strong signal to Hindus and a pro-Hindu government at the center. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had then expressed his anguish and condemned the incident.

However, the charade of having a genuine concern for the feelings of Hindus stands exposed as Makkutty continues to remain involved in party activities. The agony expressed by Rahul Gandhi on Social Media as well as the suspension of Makkutty appears as an eyewash as no action seems to have been initiated against Rijil Makkutty.

The fact that Rahul had allowed Makkutty to continue to work for the Kerala State Congress unit asserts that he had no compunction in associating himself with someone who had wantonly hurt the Hindu sentiments by butchering a calf. The recent pictures of Rijil along with Rahul and Priyanka only reaffirm it.

In fact, within three weeks of the cow slaughter incident, though many Congress leaders claimed that there was no place for such elements in the party, Makkutty was seen presumably attending the plenary session of Congress. He was also seen carrying out other party-related activities in various social media posts.

The glaring duplicity exhibited by Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi shows that they have little regard for the sentiments of Hindus. Anti-Hindu elements in the party are not punished, instead, they are promoted to superior ranks to continue promulgating their hostile propaganda against Hindus. The party’s disposition towards Hindus and Hinduism has been quite obvious for some time now. Perhaps, this explains why Rahul Gandhi scurried away to Wayanad, a Hindu-minority region to file his nomination from the second seat.

There have been umpteen instances where Congress has appeared to betray Hindus. Recently, the Supreme Court verdict scotched the fabrication of ‘Hindu Terror’ concocted by the Congress party to malign the Hindus. A few days back, Congress had released a video in which they had depicted Hindu religious symbols of ‘Tripundra’ and saffron flags in a slanderous form to depict the Hindus as ‘extremists’.

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar, who has recently joined the Congress, was also quick to voice Congress’ stand vis-vis Hinduism. Vilifying Hinduism, Urmila claimed that of Hinduism has become the most violent religion in the world.

So, though Congress machinery may organise a large number of temple runs for their president and other assorted measures like havans and pujas to dispel suspicion among Hindus regarding their anti-Hindu disposition but incidents such as socialising with a cow butcher unmask their true intent and their apathy towards Hindu sentiments.
