BJP wants to get me killed: Hardik Patel alleges after a man slaps him in public rally

Congress leader Hardik Patel was slapped by a man during a public rally in Surendranagar, Gujarat.

Patel was addressing a ‘Jan Akrosh Rally’ when a man walked on the stage and slapped him. Following which, Hardik, too, lost his cool and had to be restrained by people on stage.

Reacting to this, Hardik said that BJP is afraid of him and trying to threaten him.

“BJP people, to scare Hardik, to threaten Hardik and to kill Hardik who has been going to villages and meeting thousands of people BJP is trying its best,” Hardik said, referring to himself in third person. “Today, BJP paid someone to slap me, but I will ask the villagers as well as police to not take any action against such people, forgive them,” he added.

Stating that the BJP is behaving like terrorists, Hardik said, “It is a good thing he didn’t come with a gun because I feel he had come to shoot me.” He said that he has forgiven the person who attacked him but wants to know who would be responsible if in such public rallies, he gets shot at, who would be responsible. Again addressing himself in third person, Hardik accused the BJP of trying to get Hardik killed.

Meanwhile, the BJP has dismissed such allegations and said that he is doing such stunts for publicity.

Milind Deora found guilty of violating the Model Code of Conduct for comments on Jains

Congress candidate from South Mumbai, Milind Deora, has been found guilty of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the Maharashtra state election commission. He has been found guilty of objectionable comments he had made against the Shiv Sena invoking the Jain Community.

A complaint was received against Deora for a speech he made on the 2nd of April in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar. He had said, “Shiv Sena has been against minorities. A few years ago, the party insulted Jains by cooking meet outside a Jain temple during Paryushana festival. Remember, you have to teach them a lesson through your votes.”

The returning officer has asked for suitable action against Deora for his remarks. The Election Commission has sought a reply from the Congress candidate demanding an explanation from him on how he has not violated the MCC.

The Congress party has been trying hard to polarize the elections along religious lines and ensure that minority communities vote en masse for them. Recently, controversial politician Navjot Singh Sidhu had appealed to the Muslim community to vote unitedly for Congress.

Deora was also in the news yesterday for a poll campaign video which had industrialist Mukesh Ambani endorsing Deora.

He had said, “I am warning you, my Muslim brothers, you are nearly 64% of the total population here. They are dividing you by bringing people like Owaisi. They will come up with a new party to divide the Hindus and the Muslims. However, The majority community (Hindus) of the country are a minority in this constituency, if you (Muslims) unite together and vote then Modi and the BJP will be decimated.”

Rumours about Priyanka Chaturvedi joining Shiv Sena gain strength as she removes AICC from her Twitter bio, Congress sources term it pressure tactics

Priyanka Chaturvedi, the foremost spokesperson of the Congress party had recently taken to Twitter to express her dissatisfaction with Congress.

On April 15th, 2019, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee issued a letter of suspension to abusive party workers for their unruly behaviour with the party spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi in Mathura. As per the letter, the incident took place during a press conference that Priyanka Chaturvedi addressed in Mathura. The press conference was about the Rafale deal. However, much to Priyanka’s chagrin, within 2 days they were reinstated back in the party.

Among the persons who had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka are the general secretary of the UPCC and vice president of the Congress committee in Mathura, as well as a former MLA candidate, along with several other office bearers of the party.

Priyanka Chaturvedi took to Twitter to say, “Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in @incindia over those who have given their sweat&blood. Having faced brickbats&abuse across the board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate”.

Now, rumours have gained strength that Priyanka Chaturvedi might be poised to join Shiv Sena. OpIndia tried to reach out to some workers and office bearers of Mumbai Congress but nobody has issued an official statement yet.

While most within the Congress party denied having any information on this news, some said that Priyanka Chaturvedi has been a loyal party member and thus, refused to believe the rumours that she might join Shiv Sena. One functionary from Congress, Mumbai, said that even after the drubbing in 2014, Priyanka did not abandon the ship and hence, she wouldn’t now as well.

One person, however, said, “There is no confirmation that this news is true. It seems like Priyanka is planting these stories to pressurise the state unit to concede to her demands”.

Interestingly, the Twitter profile of Priyanka Chaturvedi earlier included her designation as ‘Convenor -AICC Communication. National Spokesperson’. Now, she seems to have dropped that designation from her Twitter bio.

Priyanka Chaturvedi’s Twitter profile before and after

Several journalists who are known to be extremely close to the Congress party have also noted the change in Priyanka Chaturvedi’s Twitter bio.

In fact, journalist Pallavi Ghosh who is known to be a Congress insider revealed that Priyanka Chaturvedi has also left the Congress WhatsApp groups.

Another loyalist journalist couldn’t believe that Congress would let go of one of their “most articulate” spokespersons.

Another journalist, Abhisar Sharma, who regularly bats for Congress and abuses random people on Twitter wondered if the change in bio means ‘Bye Bye Congress’.

While Congress talks tall about women empowerment, the plight of one of its foremost spokesperson is truly telling. OpIndia has reached out to Priyanka Chaturvedi for a comment, and this story will be updated if and when she chooses to respond.

Update: NDTV has reported that Priyanka Chaturvedi resigned from Congress on Thursday night. No official statement on her joining Shiv Sena has been made yet.

Ab Hoga NYAY: BJP spokesperson Tajinder Bagga’s new posters on Sadhvi Pragya boomerang the Congress slogan

BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, who is well known for his unique methods of protest and witty comebacks on social media, has put up posters of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur in various places of Delhi that are bound to hurt the Congress.

The BJP had recently declared that Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur will be the party’s candidate against Digvijay Singh in the Lok Sabha elections for the Bhopal seat. The BJP’s announcement had burned quite a few hearts in the self-proclaimed ‘secular liberal’ brigade.

Sadhvi Pragya was incarcerated by the UPA government over dubious allegations and charges of terrorism that eventually turned out to be baseless. Eight long and torturous years after her arrest, Sadhi Pragya was granted bail in 2017. She was later given a clean chit by the NIA. She was arrested on allegations of involvement in the Malegaon blasts case to peddle the narrative of Hindu terror concocted by the then UPA government.

Pragya’s candidature from the Bhopal seat against Congress’ Digvijay Singh is being seen by many as a kind of poetic justice, for Digvijay Singh was one of the principal forces behind the false narrative of Hindu-terror. Pragya’s account of inhuman torture, insult, and agony in the hands of the establishment to peddle a fake narrative have been crucial in exposing the Congress’ real face.

Bagga’s posters depict an old image of Sadhvi Pragya where a battered, visibly scared, weak, tired and shaken Pragya is seen waiting for medical attention. Pragya was diagnosed with cancer and spinal injuries during her long incarceration. Bagga’s posters have the words “Ab Hoga NYAY”, the much talked about Congress slogan about their dubious basic minimum income scheme.

The use of the slogan along with Sadhvi Pragya’s image sends a strong message, that not only justice is waiting to be served to the peddlers of fake Hindu-terror bogey, but the woman they had tortured for 8 long years has risen to challenge her oppressor in a democratic battle.

Bagga’s posters have taken social media by storm.

Twitter users also pointed out that just as PM Modi had turned the ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ campaign on its head and launched the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ slogan that had shattered the Congress attempts to malign him, Bagga’s posters has managed to take the Congress’ NYAY scheme campaign and turned it into a boomerang, reminding the party of its own long history of sins and injustice.

As per latest updates, the news of the posters has already been picked up by many major media outlets and there are ongoing discussions on how it is going to affect the political war between BJP and Congress.

Twitter users were also seen praising the BJP’s unapologetic stand for Sadhvi Pragya and the resolve to shatter the false narrative of Hindu terror. BJP President Amit Shah has stated in many of his rallies that the Congress and its ecosystem had tried very hard to paint Hindus as terrorists and they had miserably failed at it. The BJP’s decision to field Sadhvi Pragya against Digvijay Singh is a bold and significant assertion of their ideological stand.

Bangladeshi teenager set on fire after she accused her madarsa headmaster of sexual harassment

In a shocking incident reported from across the border, a 19-year-old Bangladeshi teenager Nusrat Jahan Rafi was burned to death after she filed a sexual harassment complaint against her madarsa headmaster. As per reports, on March 27, she had complained that the madarsa headmaster repeatedly called her in his office and repeatedly touched her inappropriately.

Thankfully, she managed to escape and went to a local police station to give her statement. Unfortunately, the policemen filmed her when she was retelling her traumatic experience which was later on leaked to local media. Following this, she started facing abuse and threats. While the police arrested the headmaster on March 27, things got worse for Nusrat as a mob led by two male ‘students’ and local politicians gathered on the street to demand the release of the headmaster.

Despite fearing for her life, Nusrat went to school on April 6, 11 days after the traumatic incident, to sit for her exams. A fellow female student asked Nusrat to accompany her on the roof, where four-five people, on directions of the principal who molested Nusrat, wearing burqa started beating her up and started pressurising her to withdraw the case against the madarsa headmaster. When she refused, she was set on fire by them. As per reports, they wanted to make it look like a suicide, but when Nusrat was rescued, they fled the scene.

According to the investigating officer, one of the killers was holding her head down with his hands and hence they weren’t able to pour kerosene there because of which her head was not burned. Nusrat recorded her statement on her brother’s phone while she was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance. “The teacher touched me. I will fight this crime till my last breath,” she had reportedly said.

Fifteen people, including a woman who allegedly poured kerosene over Nusrat have been arrested of which two men have already confessed to her killing. Both were studying at the same madarsa Nusrat studied at and were also leaders in the Bangladesh Chhatra League unit at the madarsa. Investigations have also revealed that they met the suspended headmaster, Sirajuddaula in the jail to receive instructions for Nusrat’s murder. One of the accused, Shahadat, who has confessed to the crime, said that he was eager to be part of the murder because she had refused his advances a few months prior.

Another Nirbhaya like incident in Karnataka? Civil Engineering student’s body found half-burnt and hanging from a tree in Raichur

In a barbaric incident, the burnt body of a civil engineering student identified as Madhu has been found in Raichur shocking the conscience of the people. Suspicions have now been raised over the nature of the death of the girl.

According to local reports, a girl named Madhu who was a student of Navoday Engineering College, Raichur went missing on the April 15th. The parents of the girl began to locate her as she did not return to the house even after three days. However, a half-burnt body of Madhu hanging near a tree was found near the outskirts of the city. The sheer brutality heaped upon the body of the deceased shocked the very core of the city.

Initially, it was believed the deceased Madhu had committed suicide. However, the parents and friends of the deceased suspected a foul play. The horrific scenes of Madhu’s body half-burnt and hanging from a tree has left her parents and friends shocking, who are now asserting that her daughter was brutally murdered.

The friends of the deceased and other students of the college have hit the streets in protest against the brutal death of Madhu. They have demanded that the state government launch an immediate investigation to find out the nature and circumstances surrounding the death. The people of Raichur have been already comparing this incident with the brutal Nirbhaya incident, which had also shocked the nation then.

An online petition has been doing rounds in the social media claiming that the police officials and few prominent people may have been influencing the case by helping the perpetrators and have been trying to close the case as a suicide. They suspect that Madhu may have been raped and burnt to death while being hung on a three. The online petition has got more than fifty thousand signature.

Reportedly, the local police have begun to probe the incident and have already arrested an accused in the case.

Tripura Congress chief Pradyot Deb Burman slaps, threatens a man inside police station

In a sheer display of arrogance, Tripura Congress President Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman slaps a man inside Khowai police station in Tripura after he had allegedly obstructed the convoy of Pradyot Kishore’s sister Pragya Deb Burman who is also Tripura Congress candidate, reports ANI.

According to reports, the Tripura police had arrested a man for allegedly attacking the convoy of Pragya Deb Burman, Pradyot’s elder sister. Pragya Dev Burman is being fielded by the Congress from the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. The arrested person is an alleged supporter of the ruling Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).

In the CCTV footage, Pradyot and his men can be seen entering the police station and resorting to vandalism against a man in a red shirt sitting on a bench in a police station. The man rises to his feet and greets the Congress chief but Pradyot suddenly slaps him across the face. Police officials present at the spot separate them immediately, following which Pradyot Dev Burman can be seen threatening him.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Tripura BJP accused CPI(M) and Congress of joining hands together to plot a conspiracy against the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath has said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) was ‘confused’ by CPI(M) and Congress through a conspiracy and lead them to dismiss Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Singh. Following the incident, the elections were deferred in East Tripura (ST reserved) constituency from April 18 till April 23 on security grounds.

Nath further added that a deep-rooted conspiracy is being hatched by CPI (M) and Congress against the Lok Sabha polls. “Our leaders have already met ECI at New Delhi. We have met the CEO in Tripura. But it seems we have failed to convince the Election Commission about the conspiracy so far. Or else why would they transfer Additional DGP Singh?” Nath said.

BJP has also produced the CCTV footage from Khowai police station incident in which state Congress President Pradyot Kishore Debburman is seen slapping a person in a police station. Minister Ratan Lal Nath also accused Pradyot of taking law in his own hands while stating that the Congress leader has sent out a warning that he would terrorise and attack his political opponents.

Uttar Pradesh: BSP supporter chops off his finger after voting for the BJP ‘by mistake’

In a bizarre incident, a Bahujan Samaj Party supporter chopped off his singer after ‘mistakenly’ voting for the BJP and later released the video saying he is ‘repenting’ voting for the BJP.

The 25-year-old BSP supporter Pawan Kumar is a resident of Abdullapur Hulasan village in Shikarpur area of Bulandshahr constituency and cast his vote to BJP ‘by mistake’ yesterday in the second phase of polling. Upset and frustrated over his ‘mistake’, Pawan Kumar chopped off his finger. He later released a video on Twitter repenting his ‘mistake’ of having voted for the BJP.

Pawan Kumar was taken to hospital where he was discharged after giving the treatment.

Exclusive: Men in video shared by Rahul Gandhi claim that their statements were twisted, say they support PM Modi

On 17th April 2019, Rahul Gandhi shared a video by the leftist propaganda The Wire which propagated that the sanitation workers whose feet were washed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Kumbh Mela, were disgruntled with him. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress president tweeted an excerpt of the video saying that the event of PM Modi washing the sanitation workers’ feet was a ‘made for media’ event and that other than photo-ops, PM Modi had no interest or time for the “mann ki baat” of those whose feet he washed.

The Wire video quotes several people, albeit, in a staccato. Not one interview conducted by The Wire is screened in full. Separate words and short sentences appear to have been taken out of context and stitched together. Interestingly, the questions being asked by The Wire correspondent cannot be heard in the video at all. Only their responses, and that too, chopped and diced features in The Wire video.

OpIndia reached out to two of the people who feature in The Wire video.

The first person that OpIndia reached out to was one of the people whose feet was washed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In bits, an pieces, the gentleman circled in the photograph appears in the video shared by The Wire and later chopped and uploaded by Rahul Gandhi. He says that the Prime Minister called them in at 4 PM and met them. He suddenly came and washed their feet. He says that when he saw the nice plates, he got scared. He thought that it was he who would have to wash PM Modi’s feet. Then he says that he thought ‘chalo dho dange’. That he is such a big minister, he wouldn’t mind washing his feet.

It is pertinent to note here that the second part of his statement when he says he thought he would have to wash PM Modi’s feet is not included in the chopped video uploaded by Rahul Gandhi.

Later in the video, he says that he has been living in the area for 40 years and has been running around for government schemes. Interestingly, his statements even in this segment are mercilessly edited and hence, the exact context of what he is saying is often lost.

OpIndia volunteers reached out to the gentlemen who featured in The Wire and Rahul Gandhi’s video that was used to target PM Modi.

Pyarelal admitted that it was indeed him whose feet were washed by PM Modi and he said he felt blessed. He also said that he is confident that PM Modi would return to power not just this term but even for a third term.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3CD4WDbtb4]

He told OpIndia volunteers that he supports the Prime Minister wholeheartedly and wants him to return to power. When asked whether he has benefitted from the schemes introduced by Prime Minister Modi, he answered in the affirmative. He said he got a ration card and a toilet too after Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. When asked if he has any complaints from PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath he said he has no complaints and wish to see them return to power.

When prodded further, Pyarelal says that the video of his that has been edited and used to target the Prime Minister is incorrect and highly exaggerated.

Essentially, the statements of Pyarelal to OpIndia volunteers was in complete contrast to what Rahul Gandhi and The Wire wanted to portray with the heavily edited video that was released.

OpIndia volunteers then reached out to another person whose feet were washed by Prime Minister Modi and who also featured in The Wire and the edited video shared by Rahul Gandhi on Twitter.

The second person too featured prominently in The Wire video and the excerpt used by Rahul Gandhi. In his first soundbyte, the person says that they were called to the room and the Prime Minister started washing their feet. He says that “first we felt ashamed since such a big person was washing our feet…” and it is here that his statement is cut short in the videos.

He then says that he has given us so much honour, but it would be nice if they get permanent jobs in the government too. This statement has no context and what question was asked to the person has also not been included. The question, for all we know, could have been whether the PM washing their feet is sufficient for them, to which, the answer would obviously be no.

OpIndia volunteers reached out to this gentlemen to understand if his statements were accurate and he meant it in the same manner as is being projected by The Wire and Rahul Gandhi.

Naresh Kumar told OpIndia volunteers largely what Pyarelal had said too. After saying that he did attend the Kumbh Mela and even worked there he said that the Prime Minister did meet him at the Kumbh. He said when they got there, they had no idea why they were there or what the agenda of the meeting was.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQNokYrndas]

Naresh Kumar says that when Prime Minister Modi started washing his feet, he even asked him not to wash his feet as how can the PM of the country wash the feet of a safai karamchaari. He says that initially, he thought it was him who would have to wash the PM’s feet but the PM said that he should be allowed to fulfil his ‘farz’ by washing their feet. Naresh said that after washing and wiping his feet, the PM spoke to him about where he is from, his work and his health.

Naresh confidently told us that he is happy with the government at the central and state level and that if there is a problem, the gram pradhan listens to them and solves their problem.

In fact, when asked, Naresh also said that the Media had spoken to him and twisted his words. He said the Media is making things up on their own and spreading rumours and that they say what they have to.

It is evident from the footage acquired by OpIndia that Rahul Gandhi has used footage that has been maliciously presented to paint an inaccurate picture. From the two testimonies, it is clear that the two people who were interviewed by The Wire were taken out of context and their words were maliciously twisted. Perhaps the truth of the rest of the footage can only be ascertained if The Wire releases raw footage that was then edited and turned into their video.

They would hang me upside down and threaten to disrobe me : Sadhvi Pragya recalls her ordeal as she breaks down

BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur broke down while recalling her ordeal while addressing the party workers today. Sadhvi Pragya was granted bail in April 2017 in the 2008 Malegaon Blast case after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) failed to provide any conclusive evidence against her.

Sharing her ordeal Sadhvi said that she was brutally beaten and even threatened to be disrobed during her custody. She said that the cops used to abuse her mercilessly and they beat her up using a belt until her hands would swell up and her skin started cracking. She told that she had no idea as to why such treatment was being meted out to her.

“Itni gandi gaali dete the peet tey peet tey, ulta latkatey thi kehte the tujhe nirvastra Karenge. Raat bhar peet tey peet tey jab mere haath fatne lagte the aur unhone bhay hota tha ke purey faat jayenge, khoon aajaye to uss samay rok dete the. Balti mai garam paani latey the jisme namak hota tha aur humare haatho ke unpar dubotey the” (They used to hurl filthy abuses at me and hang me upside down threatening to disrobe me. They used to thrash me whole night till the skin on my hands would start to come off. They would only stop thrashing when they feared that my hands would start bleeding. Then they would bring a bucket of hot water with salt in it and dip my bruised hands in it.), recalled Sadhvi Pragya as she broke down.

She added that the people torturing her would take turns to beat her as they would get exhausted by beating her recklessly. Calling it a conspiracy to malign Hindus, Sadhvi said that they wanted her to make a false confession that she was involved in the bomb blast to kill Muslims.

“Mujhe nahi pata tha ke iska karan kya hai aur kyun mujhe peta ja raha hai“, (I had no idea what was the reason behind it and why I was being tortured.) she said. She found out about the intentions of those torturing her only after the interrogation started.

She told that they asked her whether she was a terrorist and whether RSS was a terrorist organisation. “Aur jab unhone puchna shuru kiya tha kuch baat hi nahi thi. Tumne visphot kiya visphot kiya. Fir bola tum aatankvadi ho, RSS aatankvadi hai. Phir boltey the ki tum kis kis se milte thi batao maine kaha mujhe kuch nahi pata“, (And when they started questioning me, they only wanted me to confess that I was a terrorist and that the RSS was a terrorist organisation. They asked me who all I had met. I said I don’t know), said Sadhvi Pragya.

‘Mujhe samaj mai aagaya ke kahe na kahe Hindutava ko target kiya ja raha hai. Sanyasi jivan ko gaali de jaite hai. Mai mere nahi hoon, mera kuch nahi hai aur jo kuch bhi hai desh ka hai. Baas itna vichar karke mai peete thi”, (I had understood that they wanted to target Hindutva. They abused a Sanyasi but I thought that I belong to the country and with this thought, I kept tolerating everything), she added.

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur is contesting from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency against Congress candidate Digvijay SIngh. Meanwhile, Tehseen Poonawalla, a Congress supporter, has filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature.

He has requested the EC to debar her from contesting in view of the charges on her in the Malegaon Blast case. An application has also been filed before the NIA court by a Malegaon Blast victim’s father seeking to bar her from fighting the election.
