President Kovind was elected because of his caste: Shocking statement by Rajasthan CM and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot

Congress has been discovering new lows in political discourse every day with their President, Rahul Gandhi leading the way. Following his footsteps, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today made a shameful remark against the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Gehlot said that the Modi government elected him as the President to get caste equations right before the Gujarat elections. Gehlot said that the Modi government elected him as the President to get caste equations right before the Gujarat elections.

The casteist remark came when Ashok Gehlot was reportedly addressing the Media. The senior Congress leader said that Ram Nath Kovind was elected as the President over LK Advani, the BJP patriarch because the Modi government wanted to get the caste equation right before elections.

Ashok Gehlot said, “People say that the selection of Rashtrapati Ji, Ram Nath Kovind, infact I was reading an article yesterday that it was the time when Gujarat was ready to go under polls and they (BJP) was fearful that Congress will form its government in the state. At that time, one after the other, Amit Shah revealed his gimmicks. I believe that it was upon his advice that Ram Nath Kovind was appointed as President to fit in caste factor. And Advani Sahab was left. The nation was hoping that Advani Ji will finally be regarded with the honour he deserved. Deprived”.

Ram Nath Kovind was an accomplished lawyer before his entrance into politics. He practised law for 16 years in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. Previously, he had served as the Governor of Bihar and was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006. He has served on the Board of management of Dr B.R Ambedkar University, Lucknow, and as on the Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta. He has also represented India at the UN and addressed the United Nations General Assembly in October 2002.

President Kovind received the highest civilian honour of Croatia and the highest civilian honour of Bolivia, both in March 2019.

The Indian Media had taken a terribly elitist stand when President Kovind was elected saying that they had never heard of him and derided him in several ways. Many celebrity journalists had called him “worse than Pratibha Patil”. President Kovind, despite many of his accomplishments, has been branded as the “Dalit face of BJP” by many of the opposition members and journalists. Sadly, even the President of India is not out of limits for the elite Lutyens’ cabal, including the Congress party when it comes to playing petty politics.

Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi slams party for reinstating goons who had misbehaved with her

The latent discontent in one of the Congress’ foremost spokespersons Priyanka Chaturvedi finally surfaced when she took to Twitter to express her dissatisfaction on being unfairly treated by the Congress party. Priyanka has alleged in her tweet that lumpen elements in the Congress party get preference over the hard-working ones.

On April 15th, 2019, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee issued a letter of suspension to abusive party workers for their unruly behaviour with the party spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi in Mathura. As per the letter, the incident took place during a press conference that Priyanka Chaturvedi addressed in Mathura. The press conference was about the Rafale deal. However, much to Priyanka’s chagrin, within 2 days they were reinstated back in the party.

Among the persons who had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka are the general secretary of the UPCC and vice president of the Congress committee in Mathura, as well as a former MLA candidate, along with several other office bearers of the party.

This triggered the brewing anger in Priyanka and she took to Twitter to express her disapproval. Priyanka lamented that the Congress party has a tendency to ignore workers who give their sweat and blood to the party while preferring those who indulge in hooliganism.

Oddly, the letter is dated for 15th April 2015. But given the context of the press conference mentioned and the latest tweets by Priyanka Chaturvedi herself, the date is most likely a typo.

It is notable here that there has been much discussion on social media over Priyanka Chaturvedi’s hard work being ignored by the party after she failed to get a party ticket for any seat in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

After Borivali, people in Malad greet Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar with ‘Modi Modi’ slogans

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar who was scheduled to begin her campaign from Malad (East) and go up to Kandivali (East) on Tuesday was once again greeted with citizens chanting pro-Modi slogans for the second day on the trot.

Matondkar is the Congress candidate for Mumbai North and is currently on a campaign trail to woo the voters. A video, which is doing the rounds on the internet shows how a few bystanders started chanting pro-Modi slogans as soon as Ms Matondkar’s rally entered the thickly populated area of the diamond market in Malad. However, Urmila didn’t lose her calm and kept waiving at the people.

“I don’t know who they were. If some people want to disrupt my rally, they can do it. I believe in the Freedom of Expression which the present government has tried to suppress in the last four and a half years. I remained calm in the rally. I don’t know who would want to shout pro-Modi slogans in the diamond market area which crashed overnight after the demon of demonetisation hit all of us,” Urmila said.

BJP MLA from Kandivali, Atul Bhatkhalkar asserted that the shouting of pro-Modi slogans in Urmila Matondkar’s rallies is a crystal-clear indication of the presence of Modi wave. He also held Congress workers responsible for the scuffle that broke out on Monday in which Congress workers had beaten up people shouting pro-Modi chants.

The BJP candidate Gopal Shetty claimed that like the candidates have a right to campaign, people can also voice their support freely. He alleged that it was wrong on the part of Congress workers to beat up people who chanted Pro-Modi slogans and urged the Election Commission to look into the matter.

In a similar incident that had happened on Monday, Urmila had sought police protection after a scuffle broke out between Congress workers and BJP supporters at Borivali station. A video has emerged in which the outraged Congress supporters can be seen resorting to violence against the people chanting “Modi Modo” slogans in Urmila Matondkar’s rally in Borivali.

‘Deshdrohi Murdabad’: Begusarai locals protest against Kanhaiya Kumar by stopping his roadshow, ask him what ‘Azaadi’ does he want

Career JNU protestor turned wannabe politician Kanhaiya Kumar, who after being ditched by the ‘mahagathbandhan‘ is contesting 2019 Lok Sabha elections on a CPI (Communist Party of India) ticket from Begusarai, Bihar faced protests while on his campaign trail. On a campaign procession, Kanhaiya Kumar was gheraod by Begusarai locals and questioned about the ‘Bharat tere tukde honge’ slogans that were raised by him and his opposition to reservation for the economically backward sections of the society.

Locals of Begusarai, who were outraged by Kanhaiya Kumar’s stand on various issued stopped his cavalcade and asked him what kind of ‘Azaadi’ he wanted, referring to the ‘Hum cheen ke lenge Azaadi, Bharat tere tukde honge Inshallah’ slogans that were raised in JNU by Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and other students in 2016.

The local who confronted Kanhaiya said that the poor people of this country don’t want any ‘Azaadi’. He also said that while it is good that Kanhaiya wants to become a politician, but he needs to give answers to the people of this country.

The people of Begusarai also asked Kanhaiya why he opposed reservation for the economically backward people of the country. Prime Minister Modi had recently announced 10% reservation for the poor people of India that was opposed tooth and nail by not just Kanhaiya Kumar but even Congress. Stunned, Kanhaiya had no response to the questions that were being thrown at him.

The only response Kanhaiya had was to ask the locals if they were BJP supporters. To that, the locals said that they are actually going to vote for NOTA (None of the above). They also said that Kanhaiya Kumar should respond to questions and that anyone who asks questions does not become a BJP supporter. People also told Kanhaiya that he shouldn’t bother asking for votes but first, win the hearts of people and that screaming “Bharat tere tukde honge Inshallah Inshallah” won’t help him.

Following the conversation, both sides resorted to sloganeering. The locals, in unison, said “Deshdrohi Murdabad”. According to reports, it was only after persuasion that Kanhaiya’s cavalcade was allowed to pass.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been shielding Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and other students in the sedition case by delaying granting sanction for the prosecution that the Delhi police needs to finalise the chargesheet against the students who raised seditious slogans in 2016.

Interestingly, in the affidavit filed with his nomination, Kanhaiya Kumar has listed himself as ‘unemployed’ and yet, showed an income of Rs 6,30,360 in 2017-18 and Rs 2,28,290 in the year 2018-19.

In October 2018, an FIR was filed in Patna against Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters after they misbehaved with AIIMS doctors. From his close aide accusing him of being a ‘liar’ and a ‘casteist’, to when Kanhaiya was accused of flashing his d***k to a woman, Kanhaiya Kumar has been a paragon of disruption and a symbol of everything that is wrong with Indian politics. We had earlier also reported how Kanhaiya Kumar had used a disreputable journal, which is blacklisted internationally, to get his article published for PhD thesis submission.

Prashant Bhushan violates Bar Council rules, resigns from governing bodies of NGOs after complaint

PIL Activist, Prashant Bhushan, has resigned from the governing councils of Centre for PIL (CPIL), Common Cause and Swaraj Abhiyan after a complaint was registered against him for violating Bar Council of India Rules on Professional Standards. The complaint was filed by Major S.K. Punia before the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD).

Clause 9 of the rules states that an advocate should not represent organizations he is a member of. The BCD had sought a reply from Bhushan over Major Punia’s complaint. In his response, the advocate had conceded that he had indeed violated the rule.

Bhushan announced on Twitter that he had resigned as the Bar Council was “hounding him” and that he will continue to represent them in the Court and guide them. He also confirmed that he had only resigned from the Governing Body of these organizations.

It is pertinent to mention that Common Cause is an FCRA NGO that has neither made public the quantum of money it has received from abroad nor its donors. It has filed several PILs that have great significance for the security apparatus of the country such as the one in the Rafale deal and the feud within the CBI.

Muslim women should pray inside their homes, says Sunni clerics body in Kerala

An influential body of Sunni scholars and clerics, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama has on Tuesday declared that women should offer their prayers inside their homes reiterating its stand of opposing entry of women in the mosque.

Speaking to the media in light of the recent Supreme Court decision to send a notice to the center over a petition seeking directive to allow women to enter mosques, General Secretary of Samastha, K Alikkutyy Musaliyar said, “We cannot allow court’s interference in the religious matters. We should heed only religious leaders on such issues.” Defending his stance, Musaliyar also asserted that his and the Samastha body’s view on Sabarimala had been similar.

Musaliyar further added, “The rule regarding non-entry to women in mosque is quite old. It is 1400 years old and Prophet Muhammad himself had given an explanation about this.”

Another Sunni leader and All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama’s general secretary Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musaliyar contended that the courts should first consult with the religious leaders before intervening in the matters related to faith. Citing basic tenets of Islam, he asserted that the best place for women to pray is in their homes. He also professed that only negligible minority among Muslims who have shifted away from core Islam favour women’s entry into mosques. “Such people who are divorced from basics of Islam endorse such perverted and extremist thoughts,” he said.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court had admitted a petition seeking permission for Muslim women to enter mosques to offer prayers. The court had asked the center to respond to the PIL filed by a Pune based couple. The petitioners have requested the apex court to declare the present practice of denying women entry into mosques as illegal.

It is notable here that on September 28, 2018, the Supreme Court had cast aside the traditions of the Sabarimala temple in Kerala and had declared that women of all ages should be allowed entry into the temple.

‘Pick up brooms and chase them away’, TMC minister incites violence against Central Forces deployed for elections

In a video that has surfaced, Trinamool Congress MLA from Chakdaha and Minister of State for MSME and textiles, Ratna Ghosh Kar, can be seen inciting violence against Central Forces deployed in West Bengal to ensure free and fair elections in the state.

Kar said at a closed-door meeting recalling the 2016 state elections, “Nothing is fair or unfair in a war. There are democratic or undemonstrative ways to do it. You have to win (the war) by any means. I have seen it in 2016 elections, how the Central forces (CRPF) have beaten up our boys (Trinamool workers). There was a bloodbath. This time it is more challenging. There is nothing to be scared.”

She then instructed members of TMC’s Women’s Wing to pick up broomsticks and chase away the Central Forces. She said, “I will go to each and every polling booth, irrespective of the presence of the CRPF Jawans. And if the CRPF is taking pro-active action, then I request the Mahila (women) members to pick up broomsticks and chase them away from our area.”

The Minister’s remarks come after widespread polling malpractice and violence was reported in West Bengal during the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections. Reports indicate that the BJP could win a significant share of the seats in the state, thus making the TMC nervous.

Trinamool appears to have abandoned all sense of caution in its bid to retain its stranglehold over Bengal politics. Recently, even Bangladeshi actors were spotted campaigning for TMC candidates. The actor has since been blacklisted for violating visa norms.

The history of the Notre Dame: From a Pagan Temple to Gothic Cathedral

In a tragic event, the historic medieval Cathedral in Paris, Notre Dame, was ravaged by fire recently that caused colossal damage to the structure. The spire and roof of the 850-year-old Gothic building have collapsed but the main structure and the two bell towers have been preserved.

French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild the Cathedral as Parisians mourn the great loss of history and architecture. The cause of the fire is not yet clear. While the fire has caused great damage indeed, destruction and renovation of structures that have stood at the very site of the Notre Dame have been fairly common throughout history. In fact, Notre Dame is not the first religious structure to have stood at the site.

It is known that a Gallo-Roman Temple dedicated to the God Jupiter stood at the same site before the advent of Christianity in France. The Pillar of the Boatmen, a monumental Roman column erected in Lutetia (modern Paris) in honour of Jupiter by the guild of boatmen in the 1st century AD, found in 1710 during the construction of a crypt under the nave of Notre-Dame and first published by Baudelot de Dairval in 1712, is testament to the fact. The pillar was dated by a dedication to the Roman Emperor Tiberius Caesar Augustus who assumed the seat of the Emperor in 14 A.D.

Four Christian structures are believed to have succeeded the Pagan Temple to Jupiter before the Notre Dame. The first, the 4th-century Basilica of Saint Etienne, then a Merovingian renovation of the same which was later remodelled into a Cathedral in the 9th Century. Then, there was another remodelling of the structures before the culmination into the Notre Dame. The last structure before the Notre Dame was demolished and its material was recycled to build the Gothic Cathedral.

The Pagan Temple at the site gave way to Christian Churches, signifying an epochal transformation. Of course, it’s a recurring phenomenon in Abrahamic history. Pagan structures are desecrated and destroyed and monotheistic religious structures are built in their stead to signify the victory of the ‘One True God’. Of course, there’s no certainty that the first Church that was built at the site of the Pagan Temple was built after desecrating the latter.

It could very well be that the Temple was abandoned by its erstwhile devotees or it simply fell to ruins after the great fall of Paganism although the century in which the first Church at the site was built makes it very unlikely. However, it does show for certain that early Christians weren’t too keen on preserving the Pagan Temple as a symbol of culture and instead, quite zealously, built a Church at the very same place.

The Notre Dame itself has suffered desecration in the past. As fate would have it, the last time large scale destruction of the Cathedral occurred was during another epochal period in world history. During the French Revolution, in the 1790s, much of its religious imagery was either damaged or destroyed. The cathedral’s iconic sphere itself was added during the restoration project in the 19th Century.

As people would be aware, the West is teetering at the brink of chaos. White Nationalism in on the rise and the influx of Islamic migrants from the Middle-East and Africa, many of whom have extremely problematic opinions, has created a great schism in Western society. In France itself, the ‘Yellow Vests’ protests have been going on for weeks and the protestors and the Establishment appear to be at an impasse.

It is certain that efforts will be made to restore the Cathedral to its former glory. The extent to which such efforts will be successful is, of course, a different matter. Some believe that the rebuilding the Notre Dame could save the Catholic Church. Such misguided notions could only be attributed to immeasurable grief that clouds one’s ability to think clearly.

Nothing could ‘save’ the Catholic Church. It has been destroyed by centuries of crimes against humanity, the intrinsic rape culture that permeates every fabric of its existence, the rampant sexual abuse of children and the Church’s efforts to cover it all up and protect the clergy. A work of Architecture was destroyed, not the malaise that has taken root in the Church.

West Bengal: After Ferdous Ahmed, Bangladeshi actor Abdun Noor spotted during TMC leader’s roadshow

Trinamool has found itself in the middle of a political storm after Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed was spotted campaigning for the party in Raiganj on Monday. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had then sought a report from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) inquiring whether Ahmed had violated any visa conditions.

After the report was delivered, the MHA ordered Ferdous to leave India and his VISA was cancelled. He has been blacklisted as well. However, it appears Ferdous wasn’t the only Bangladeshi national campaigning for the TMC in West Bengal.

Gazi Abdun Noor, a Bangladeshi tele-serial actor, was seen at Dum Dum, during TMC candidate Sougata Roy’s roadshow on the same day. The actor could be seen with senior party leader Madan Mitra, who has become a raging sensation on social media of late.

Gazi Noor is reported to have said, “I have not spoken a word in the campaign yesterday.  I met TMC leader Madan Mitra on Monday after many years. I did not realize initially that he was taking me to a roadshow. I did not even board Sougata Roy’s vehicle as I am aware I can’t be a part of the Indian Election process. I was with Madan Mitra in an open jeep.”

While the BJP has registered a complaint with the Election Commission over the matter, Trinamool continues to maintain that they have done nothing wrong. Madan Mitra was dismissive about the involvement of Bangladeshi nationals in the Indian election process.

“I don’t know whether the actor participated in the rally or was invited by the candidate. But I don’t think there is any violation of the model code. The code says a foreigner cannot be a candidate but I think there is no harm if anybody participates in campaigning. I don’t see any violation of the MCC,” Mitra said.

I ask the same question as NYT, what proof do we have? Sam Pitroda says on Balakot airstrikes

Rahul Gandhi’s close aide and senior Congress advisor Sam Pitroda had earlier stated in an interview to ANI that it is wrong to blame Pakistan for the 26/11 attack or the Pulwama attack, He had also questioned the Indian government over the Balakot airstrikes and had stated that India has ‘no proof’.

In an interview to Daily O recently, Paitroda has reiterated his remarks. Moreover, he has stated that he doubts the Balakot airstrikes because the New York Times said so.

Answering to a question on whether he believes in the Balakot airstrikes and 300 terrorists being killed, Pitroda replied that he does not have any proof and he had read about it in the New York Times. He added that he has been reading it for the last 50 years and when the NYT says something, right or wrong, he pays attention to it.

Pitroda then went on to assert that asking proof of the Balakot strikes do not make him anti-national and criticised PM Modi for his remarks over the Congress and opposition leaders questioning the strikes. He said that the PM’s remarks were ‘shameful and cheap’.

In the interview, Pitroda also displays his overall disdain for PM Modi, from claiming that he is trying to create an atmosphere of fear by saying we have enemies at our border to equating him to Donald Trump. He has also claimed that whatever India has achieved, it has been done under Rajiv Gandhi’s and Manmohan Singh’s rule and India’s has done almost nothing in the last 5 years.

It is notable however that Pitroda’s proclivity to dismiss the anything Indian is not new. In questioning the Balakot airstrikes he not only disregards the Indian Air Force but also willfully ignores the significant number of global powers who had acknowledged the air strikes and had supported India’s right to self-defense. Instead, he chooses to believe the New York Times, a newspaper whose own credentials has been in tatters due to its continuous peddling of fake news and leftist propaganda.

It is, however, not entirely surprising because Pitroda has himself made clear how he sees India and Indians. Recently, he had stated that India is yet to realise the potential of mobile phones and Indians with mobile phones are no more than monkeys with new toys.
