Pakistan asking China to allow Masood Azhar ban only if India agrees for bilateral talks and military de-escalation: Report

According to the sources quoted by Hindustan Times, Pakistan has asked China to lift its technical hold on Masood Azhar’s UN listing as a global terrorist if India agrees for a military de-escalation along the border and resume dialogue with Pakistan on all pending issues including Kashmir.

Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad had claimed the responsibility of Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives. Masood Azhar is founder and leader of JeM. The motion to designate him in the list of global terrorists was thwarted by China after it used its veto power to stop his listing for the fourth time.

The time offered to China to provide a reason for putting its technical hold on Masood Azhar’s listing in ending this week after which the US may seek other means to get the terrorist banned, including an open discussion in the UN General Assembly, that might be potentially embarrassing for China.

According to diplomats based out of New York, China has conveyed the Pakistani demands to the US but it has not gone down well with Washington. Echoing the belief that a nation cannot use terrorists in its backyard to negotiate with other countries, the Trump administration has reportedly conveyed that the listing of Azhar and India-Pakistan’s bilateral dialogue are not linked with each other.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had slammed China for its “Shameful hypocrisy” of protecting dreaded terrorists in the UN and subjecting millions of Uighur Muslims to abuse and detention in its territory.

With China obstructing Azhar’s listing 4th time now, 3 countries of the P-5 group have asked Beijing to furnish specific reasons for the technical hold in two weeks. The deadline is going to expire this week and as per sources, the US is in no mood to relent on Azhar’s listing this time around.

Pakistan’s response to the Pulwama attack had been rather controversial. Initially, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi admitted to Pakistani establishment’s links with JeM in an interview to the BBC. Pakistan PM Imran Khan had asked India to provide evidence of Pakistani involvement in the attack. However, yesterday Pakistan rejected the dossiers presented by the Indian government and denied its involvement in the attack.

Following Pulwama attack, India has stationed its troops along its western border. Indian Air Force had also conducted surprise airstrikes deep inside Pakistan, in Balakot and killed hundreds of terrorists belonging to JeM. Most countries have backed India’s stance against terrorism and its response at Balakot.

Pressure is mounting on Pakistan from all directions and it finds itself increasingly in an uncomfortable position. The desperation is palpable as Pakistan seeks to utilise its leverage against India by asking its all-weather ally China to force India on to discussion tables and end the hostilities along the border.

However, as PM Modi had asserted before, India has been firm on its stand that no bilateral talks will be held with Pakistan as long as it continues to shelter and sponsor terrorists working against India.

Big blow to Hardik Patel’s political ambitions, can’t contest Lok Sabha election as Gujarat HC refuses to stay his conviction

Dealing a severe blow to controversial Patidar community leader Hardik Patel’s political aspirations in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Gujarat High Court has rejected his plea seeking the suspension of his conviction in a rioting case in 2015. Patel had sought the suspension as due to his conviction he is barred under the Representation of People Act, 1951, from contesting the Lok Sabha election.

Patel had applied for a stay on his conviction in the rioting case earlier this month. He had led the Patidar agitation in Gujarat in 2015 bringing the State to a standstill to demand reservation for Patidars. Around 9 people had lost their lives in the ensuing violence and the Army had to be deployed to take control of the situation. Last year in the month of July, a Sessions Court in Visnagar had found Patel guilty of causing a riot in Mehasana and sentenced him to 2 years in prison. He was convicted of offences of arson and creating ruckus at the office of BJP MLA Rushikesh Patel. Out of 17 accused, only three were found guilty by the court including Hardik Patel. Apart from the jail term, they were also fined Rs 50,000 each. But the court had granted them bail against bonds of Rs 15,000.

Other than the riot case where he has been convicted, Hardik Patel is also facing a sedition case in Gujarat which carries the maximum punishment of life imprisonment. The case was filed after he had called for ‘killing cops’ in 2015. A case of insulting the national flag was also levelled against him, which was later withdrawn.

Soon after the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were announced, Patel had joined the Congress Party to “serve 125 crore people of the country” as claimed by him.

Priyanka Gandhi lies about MGNREGA to target the Modi government. Here are the facts

With Lok Sabha elections only a few weeks away, the lies and rhetoric of the Congress party have reached its zenith. Now, Congress General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has targetted the Modi government with false claims over MGNREGA payments.

In a hurry to target the Narendra Modi led government, Nehru-Gandhi Parivar scion Priyanka Gandhi Vadra resorted to false claims stating that the Narendra Modi government deliberately delayed the payments under MGNREGA scheme.

She further claimed that payments to the labourers were not paid in over six months. Priyanka Gandhi also attacked PM Modi over the dilution of UPA era scheme MGNREGA and said that PM Modi only works to help industrialists.

However, the facts suggest that all the claims of the Gandhi scion Priyanka Gandhi are false as MGNREGA scheme has been actually strengthened despite the fact that the Modi government criticised it in the past.

Since 2014 there has been a gradual increase in employment generation under MGNREGA except for one year in 2014. In 2013-14, nearly 220.36 crore person-days generated and saw an increase in 2017-18 to 234.26 person-days in 2017-18. This indicates that there is no decrease in demand for work under the programme.

Second, Priyanka Gandhi claimed that payments are being delayed deliberately by the Modi government and labourers are not being paid for over six months now. However, when we checked the official records, the data revealed information contrary to what Priyanka Gandhi claimed. The information suggests that the generation of payment of wages within 15 days has increased under the Modi government as nearly 85% of payments in FY 2017-18 have been disbursed within 15 days as against only 34% during in 2013-14 under UPA government. In the year 2018-19, the payments generated within 15 days is actually 91% of the total payments.

Addition to this, the total fund available under MGNREGA in the year 2018-19 is Rs.71,805 crores as against Rs.33,000 crores during UPA government in 2013-14. The Modi government has also brought major reforms with respect to bringing transparency in disbursing funds to labourers with JAM trinity. As far as today, nearly 99% of the funds of the MGNREGA funds are being transferred directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries cutting huge leakages and exclusion-inclusion errors that existed during the time of the UPA government.

Priyanka Gandhi has been indulging in delivering such erroneous statements during her election rallies. On her Amethi tour on Thursday, when asked about her opinion about Mission Shakti, Priyanka Gandhi stated that from matchbox to missiles, everything in India today has been given by Congress.

Recently, Priyanka Gandhi put herself in an embarrassing situation after she offered a used garland on the statue of Lal Bahadur Shastri. In a video shared by Union Minister Smriti Irani, Priyanka Gandhi was seen wearing two garlands, who then walked up to the statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and offered one of the used garlands to pay respect for Shastri’s statue without even realising that she had insulted Shastri Ji instead of respecting him by offering a used garland on his statue.

Arshi Khan, who painted Pakistani flags on her semi-nude body, joins Congress

Reality show Bigg Boss’ contestant Arshi Khan, who once reportedly painted Pakistani flags on her bosom and crotch area, has now joined Congress. She has reportedly been appointed as ‘vice president Maharashtra Congress’.

Reportedly, she was born in Afghanistan but moved to India when she was four. She has quite often taken to social media to pronounce her love for Pakistan and desire to take up Pakistani citizenship.

There have been reports that Arshi had also decided to participate in a Pakistani reality show ‘Arshi Ka Swayamvar’ for which she was to be paid Rs 2 crore. Amusingly, she had never named this Pakistani channel which offered her the show.

As per reports, this was part of a ‘leaked photoshoot’ for a movie ‘Green Terror’. The movie which was being directed by one Maneesh Singh even got banned by terror outfit ‘Jaish-e-Mohammad’. We could not find anyone named Maneesh Singh or any detail about the film ‘Green Terror’ which we could independently verify. Maneesh Singh has no IMDb.com profile and Google search only throws up results of ‘leaked photoshoot’ and ‘JeM fatwa’.

OpIndia suspects these were planted stories which were planted by her publicist Flynn Remedios. Most of these reports cite either one Flynn Remedios as Arshi Khan’s publicist giving these statements or they have been picked up from websites which have been owned by Flynn Remedios, many of which do not exist anymore.

Who is Flynn Remedios? Remember IndiaScoops.com? Flynn Remedios is the same pro-Congress fake news peddler who had earlier spread fake news that Rs 35 lakh was spent on PM Modi’s Yoga Day video. He is also the guy who spread the fake news related to Rafale deal which was shared by many Congress leaders like Divya Spandana, Shashi Tharoor and also Supreme Court lawyers and fake news peddlers like Prashant Bhushan. In fact, OpIndia had exposed that the Facebook page which peddled the pro-Congress fake news was originally an Arshi Khan fan page.

IndiaScoops Facebook page

There is more to Flynn Remedios than owning dubious, shady websites spreading fake news.

In November 2010, a model and Kannada starlet had filed a case of molestation against one Flynn Remedios. She had also accused him of cheating her of Rs. 4 lakh. In 2008, model Sherlyn Chopra had filed a case against ‘freelance journalist’ Flynn Remedios who offered to become her public relations officer, for allegedly sending her outrageous SMSes.

Arshi Khan and her publicist Flynn Remedios have been accused by one Pandit Ramesh Joshi of not returning the money she borrowed as well as of sexual harassment. Earlier this year, Remedios was charge-sheeted by Mumbai Police for criminal defamation and for publishing defamatory material.

Flynn Remedios allegedly lured a model by telling her she is auditioning for the reality show Bigg Boss, gave her a script to read which contained sexual harassment charges against BJP leader Vinod Shelar. This video had then gone viral and Shelar had filed a complaint with the Malad Police Station.

Turns out, the video was made by Flynn Remedios on directions of Brijesh Keshav Prasad Singh, a former BJP leader and Vinod Shelar’s rival. Remedios, Singh and another of Singh’s associate Rahul Singh are now charged with criminal defamation and for publishing defamatory material.

The model, who is now a witness in the case, has alleged that she did not even know who Vinod Shelar was. She had simply recorded the ‘script’ provided to her for what she believed was an audition for Bigg Boss. She says that Remedios had promised her a ‘wild card’ entry in the show hosted by Salman Khan. Her statement is recorded in the presence of a magistrate and the same is admissible in court as evidence.

Flynn has earlier also used shady methods to run his soft-porn website, IndiaScoops. Remedios on his website would regularly publish ‘leaked’, ‘semi-nude’ images of aspiring models and actresses and would randomly claim the said model/actress was molested. The images of Arshi Khan, with Pakistani flag painted on her bosom and crotch area were also ‘leaked’, following which the report claimed Jalandhar magistrate court had issued her arrest warrant. These reports cite Flynn Remedios as the source for the magistrate court order. Amusingly, every single report cites Flynn Remedios.

India has attained the power of doing ‘Chowkidari’ in space: PM Modi in Odisha

PM Modi addressed a public rally in Odisha’s Jeypore today, kickstarting his Odisha campaign. He is to address a rally in Kalahandi next on April 1.

Addressing the first of his three election rallies on Friday in Koraput, Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his electrifying address by asking the public to repeat slogans of ‘Main bhi chowkidaar’ after him.

Reiterating that it is the undisputed support of the citizens which has allowed him to serve the nation for the last 5 years he said that had it not been for the support and prayers of the people, BJP would not be able to achieve any development work in the country which it has in the last 5 years.

Modi thanked the Adivasi (tribal) community for welcoming him in their land. He slammed the state’s ruling BJD government of doing little for poor tribals of the state.

PM stated that recently his government had brought PM-KISAN scheme under which 12 crore farmers have received direct financial support in their bank accounts, not a single farmer of Odisha could receive the benefit because the state government has hindered it.

Cornering the BJD government over agricultural issues, over non-acceptance of Ayushman Yojana thus depriving the poor of their right for quality healthcare, Modi stormed at the BJD bastion saying that out of Rs 6,500 crore accumulated under District Mineral Fund, Odisha government has only spent Rs 1,000 crore for the poor tribals.

“The NDA government has been working hard to develop road and rail infrastructure in the state. There is no dearth of funds when it comes to development work in the country.

“In the last five years, my government has been able to build homes for eight lakh families, light up 24 lakh households in 3,000 houses and provide gas connections to 40 lakh homes,” Modi stated.

PM Modi went on to slam the Congress and other Opposition parties for asking for proof of Balakot air strike and raising questions over the announcement of the success of Mission Shakti.

“It’s about time to give an apt answer to people who are insulting the capabilities of our scientists and the armed forces. Odisha and India need a majboot (strong) govt, not a majboor (helpless) one,” PM Modi said.

Having set the tone for the Lok Sabha elections in his previous rallies, it is clear that Modi has made national security the BJP’s pitch for the general elections this time. While addressing the people of Odisha Modi made several references to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force at terror camps inside Pakistan.

While lauding his government’s determination and resolve on national security, the PM made scathing attacks at the opposition parties who questioned the air strikes and even dubbed them “heroes of Pakistan”.

PM Modi added that it’s been over a month since Pakistan has been counting dead bodies, but sadly the opposition which is still unconvinced are demanding evidence of the airstrike.

Referring to Mission Shakti, when India demonstrated anti-satellite (ASAT) missile capability by shooting down a live satellite, he said the government has taken measures to set up a ‘chowkidar’ (watchman) in space. He also highlighted Odisha’s contribution to the programme as the tests were carried out in Chandipur.

Making a blistering attack on the Congress, Modi reiterated that the opposition is trying to belittle the efforts of scientists and the armed forces. “They will be taught a lesson”, he added.

“Those that are criticising the anti-satellite technology will be given a befitting reply in the elections,” he claimed, urging people to vote for a government that can take concrete decisions, not the one that only raises hollow slogans.

Speaking at length about the BJP’s vision of a ‘New India,’ Prime Minister Modi said, “With our vision of building a ‘New India’ in the coming years, a BJP government at the state level in Odisha will ensure that we build a ‘New Odisha’ as well.

“A strong Odisha will provide strength to East India which will further promote a strong India. Only a BJP government at the state and Centre level can promote equitable progress for everybody, the poor, the youth, the farmers, the tribals of Odisha, the soldiers and the women, with a double-engine of growth striving to improve the lives of people,” Modi said.

Concluding his wide-ranging address to his impassioned supporters, PM Modi reminded the citizens about the rampant corruption and ill-governance that became endemic in the country after years of rule by parties like Congress and greatly hindered India’s progress.

He ended by saying that the time was ripe for the state to elect a strong, stable and decisive government that rises above petty politics to improve the lives of its people.

PM Modi is scheduled to address another two rallies in Mahbubnagar, Telangana and then later in Chandrababu’s turf in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool in the next couple of days.

Over 100 little known filmmakers issue joint statement, urge people to vote against BJP

Over a hundred little known filmmakers, who very few people have heard of, have issued a joint statement asking people to vote the BJP out of power. Coming under the banner of ‘Save Democracy’, the artists claim that they have come together “to protect the democracy of the country.”

Claiming that “Fascism” is looming over the country, the filmmakers said, “As we all know, ever since the BJP came to power in 2014, things have changed. And only for the worse. A country polarised along religious lines isn’t the India we have known. Besides, the BJP and its allies have failed miserably in keeping their election promises. They are now using mob lynching and cow vigilantism to split the country communally. Marginalizing Dalits and Muslims is the name of the game. They are spreading their hate campaigns with the help of the internet and social media.”

They added, “Patriotism is their trump card. Any individual or institution that raises the slightest dissent is labeled ‘anti-national’. ‘Patriotism’ is how they grow their vote bank. Let us not forget that some of our eminent writers and media persons lost their lives because they dared to dissent.”

The artists also accused the BJP of “exploiting” the Armed Forces. They stated, “Romanticizing and exploiting the armed forces is one of their strategies, even at the risk of engaging the nation in an unnecessary war. There is an unrelenting onslaught on the cultural and scientific institutions in the country. They mock the collective intelligence of the people by appointing persons with no relevance or experience as heads of these institutions, propagating unscientific and irrational beliefs even at international science seminars, making us the laughing stock of the entire world. Banning and censoring ‘works of art’, especially the most powerful of the lot – Cinema and Books – is their way of keeping the population away from the truth.”

Calling the 2019 General Elections the “last chance”, the filmmakers urged people to vote for an alternative that “respects the Constitution”. “We urge all of you to do everything in your capacity to keep this harmful regime from coming back to power. Let your mandate be to choose a government that respects the Constitution of India, protects our freedom of speech and expression, and refrains from all kinds of censorship,” they stated.

Sunanda Pushkar death case: Subramanian Swamy claims Delhi police tampered with evidence

Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has stirred a furore by claiming that Delhi Police had fiddled with the evidence in the high-profile case of Sunanda Pushkar death. Sunanda was found dead under mysterious circumstances in The Leela Palace hotel in New Delhi.

Citing the Delhi Police’s vigilance report, Subramanian Swamy has filed a petition in Patiala House Court claiming that the Delhi Police’s report itself states that there was tampering with evidence. Earlier too, Swamy had filed a plea in the court but the court had rejected it deeming it third-party intervention in the proceedings of a criminal case.

However, Subramanian Swamy had filed a plea yet again asserting that he was one of the earliest ones to file a PIL in the Sunanda Pushkar death case and that it was because of his PIL that the case is being investigated into.

Vikas Pahwa, the counsel of Shashi Tharoor, who is the principal accused in the case for abetment of suicide, has called Swamy’s intervention as ‘uncalled for’. Tharoor’s counsel has maintained that Swamy is neither the complainant nor the victim in the case. The judge has listed the case for arguments on April 26. He has also permitted Tharoor to file his response to Swamy’s application under Section 301, CrPC.

On 17 January 2014, a day after the Twitter controversy, Sunanda was found dead in room number 345 of the Leela Palace hotel in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, where she and her husband Shashi Tharoor had moved to, as their house was being renovated and painted. There were also speculations of a rift between Tharoor and Sunanda after controversial tweets were put out from Tharoor’s Twitter account regarding his alleged relationship with one Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

Once upon a Time in 2002: A public denouncement of his father by Robert Vadra and 2 mysterious deaths

The year 2002 is etched into public memory due to the riots that occurred in Gujarat following the Godhra Train massacre which laid the foundations for the rise of Narendra Modi in national politics. But the year was significant for other reasons as well. It was in early 2002 that allegations of misconduct against the Vadra family surfaced and Robert Vadra denounced his own family in public.

In January 2002, Robert Vadra issued a public statement denouncing his father, Rajinder Vadra, and brother, Richard Vadra, for misusing the Gandhi name “allegedly promising jobs and other favours in return for money”. Members of the Congress admitted that they had been approached by the Vadras for various favours. The Vadras were allegedly promising people election tickets and jobs to flats and admission into schools in return for money.

The notice, from Robert Vadra’s advocate, read, “It has been brought to the notice of my client that some persons, including Rajinder Vadra, resident of C-7, Amar Colony and Richard Vadra, resident of Basant Vihar Colony, Civil Lines, Moradabad, UP are misrepresenting to the public that they are working for on behalf of my client and allegedly promising jobs and other favours in return for money. Even though Rajinder Vadra and Richard Vadra are relatives of my client but they have no access to my client. The public at large is hereby put to notice that my client has not authorised Rajinder Vadra and Richard Vadra and anybody else to work for him or to use his name in any manner and make such misrepresentation to anybody. Such misrepresentations are without the knowledge and consent of my client.”

Soon after, Sonia Gandhi ordered people in her party to have nothing to do with the Vadras. While some viewed it as Sonia’s efforts to protect her party from disgrace, others were not so convinced of her good intentions. “Disowning first the spouse’s family and then the spouse runs in the Nehru-Gandhi family right from the days of Indira Gandhi. Maneka’s parents had to face the same treatment and then Maneka herself. Now it is Robert and his family which have become a victim of the family trait,” said Chhedi Ram Maurya, an advocate.

The reason for Robert’s public denouncement could only be speculated. While some said that it was a consequence of the Vadra family’s alleged ‘RSS links’ while others claimed it could have been motivated by speculations of a scandal involving Richard Vadra breaking out into the public.

Rajinder Vadra, for his part, never denied asking for favours on behalf of people he was acquainted with. However, he denied ever asking or tickets. In an interview with the Outlook, he said, “I voted for the Congress. Where’s the problem with that? He (Robert) makes certain calls for his friends. Why can’t I make a call for a friend who can’t afford to pay lakhs in a donation for a school admission? I also called the Maharashtra CM for jobs for my friends. I never asked for tickets.”

On being asked whether it was unfair for him to use his son’s name, Rajinder said, “He is still my son, even if he is not talking to me. I didn’t say ‘Robert sent me’. I just said ‘I am his father’. I’ve never asked for favours for my business. People approach me. I make one call. If it’s done, it’s good. Otherwise, it’s okay.” He also said that he didn’t blame Robert considering what he had heard about Richard but that he should have been consulted first.

Rajinder was particularly aggressive towards the Nehru-Gandhi Parivar. He asserted repeatedly in public that he did not want his son to marry into the family. “My son is talking about disowning me now, but I disowned him when he married into that family,” he said once. Taking a jibe at the Parivar, he had said, “I’m not afraid of anybody, Kashmiri militants or Italian militants.” Most conspicuously, however, Rajinder had once claimed that if he is murdered, the Parivar will be responsible for it. He had said, “If I am killed, three people will be responsible: Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra and Priyanka Gandhi.”

Seven years later, in 2009, Rajinder Vadra was found dead at a guest house in New Delhi. He underwent treatment for cirrhosis in Max Hospital in New Delhi and was discharged 12 days previously, a Max Hospital official told PTI.

“Rajinder used the wire of a clothes iron to hang himself from the ceiling fan in a guest house, City Inn, in Hauz Khas area. A room attendant found the body around 9.30 a.m.,” a police officer had stated. “The guest house employees rushed him to a private hospital in Saket where he was declared brought dead. The body was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem,” the official added.

News reports from previous years claim that Rajinder’s death was shrouded in mystery. A Jagran report from April 2012, states, “Rajinder’s death in 2009 was shrouded in mystery while Robert’s sister, Michelle, died in a car accident in 2001. Later his older brother, Richard, was found dead at his home in 2003.”

A TOI report from April 2009, stated, “Police officials, off the record, initially said the death was caused by a heart attack, but later clammed up.” It added, “Sources within the hospital claimed that there were injury marks around the neck, but declined to be quoted. Neither the Police nor hospital authorities divulged any details about the cause of death.”

Further down the line, the same report said, Robert’s brother, Richard was also found dead in mysterious circumstances in September 2003 at his Vasant Vihar residence, and his sister Michelle died in a car accident in 2001.”

Robert Vadra has come a long way since those unfortunate events in the past. While his fortune appears to have blossomed during the initial UPA years, the wheels of fortune appear to have turned his back on him during the later years when the erstwhile government was riddled with multiple scams and his land deals became the source of a political slugfest.

Under the NDA government, Robert has been the focus of multiple investigations with his links to arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari becoming an area of interest. While earlier, he could only be spotted at high profile places, now he can often be seen at Enforcement Directorate offices as well.

India raises strong objection to Pakistan’s inclusion of Khalistanis in Kartarpur corridor committee, talks put on hold

0

In a recent development, the Ministry of External Affairs has raised concerns and sought clarifications on the reports of inclusion of Hafiz Saeed’s close aide and Khalistan exponent Gopal Singh Chawla’s name in a panel associated with the Kartarpur corridor project.

India also called the Pakistan envoy and registered its objection on the inclusion of controversial names in the 10 member committee on Kartarpur project set up by Pakistan cabinet. The government has objected to the inclusion of Gopal Singh Chawla and Bishen Singh in the committee, both are Khalistani extremists and Chawla is also known to be close with LeT chief Hafiz Saeed.

As per sources quoted by ANI, MEA has conveyed to the Pakistani authorities that the meeting on the modalities can be scheduled after India receives Pakistan’s response on the concerns raised by it. India has proposed to hold another meeting of technical experts in mid-April to resolve outstanding issues at the zero point agreed to at the last meeting. But now that meeting has been put on hold till a satisfactory response is received from the Pakistani government.

Taking a firm stand against security lapses, India has resolutely conveyed to Pakistan that Kartarpur corridor project cannot be used to propagate anti-India activities including secessionist tendencies. India has expressed that once the security issues are addressed, meaningful discussion on the Kartarpur project can be taken forward.

Yesterday, Sikh bodies had also condemned inclusion of Gopal Singh Chawla in the list of Kartarpur committee provided by Pakistan. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee(SGPC) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) said that Pakistan should have avoided including known anti-Indian persons in cahoots with Islamist extremists in the 10 member committee on Kartarpur corridor project.

After Mission Shakti, Russia asks India to join the efforts of ‘like-minded nations’ to prevent weaponisation of outer space

Two days after India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced that India had successfully tested its indigenously developed ASAT missiles making it the fourth country after the USA, Russia, and China to be a space superpower, Russia has asked New Delhi to join international efforts to join efforts against arms race in space.

As per reports, referring to a Russian-Chinese draft treaty that is aimed at preventing the weaponisation of outer space, Russia offered India to join the efforts of “like-minded nations”.

In response to the successful test of an anti-satellite missile by India on Wednesday, a statement was issued by Russia which read, “Russia intends to continue to make necessary effort to prevent an arms race in outer space.”

The statement furthered, “The idea of developing a multilateral legally binding instrument for keeping outer space peaceful based on the Russian-Chinese draft treaty with support of a group of like-minded nations to prevent weaponization of outer space, the use or threat of force against space objects as well as multilateral initiative – political obligations not to be first to place weapons in space are becoming particularly important”.

“We offer our Indian partners to actively join these joint efforts of the international community,” Russia said in the statement, according to ANI.

As a matter of great pride, PM Modi on March 27, announced that India has successfully entered the elite club of nations to possess the capability to hit a target in space. India had shot down a live satellite in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Meanwhile, Russia, while welcoming India’s right to Anti-Satellite Missile Test has put the onus on the USA on framing rules at the earliest to prevent the weaponisation of outer space.

Russia, stating that the action taken by India is largely the result of the substantially degraded situation in the field of arms control, warned the USA, “The destructive actions of the United States to undermine the entire architecture of international security and strategic stability, including unilateral and unlimited development of the US global anti-missile defense systems, as well as the reluctance to abandon plans for the weaponization of outer space, make other states think about improving their own equal potentials in the interests of strengthening their national security”.

Russia urged the USA to take a responsible stand, come to senses and drop the insane, and most importantly, an ‘absolutely unrealizable’ idea of universal military domination.

The statement added that it is still possible to stop the arms race unfolding in various regions of the world. It is important to assist the responsible states in maintaining an adequate level of international security and stability.”

Earlier, the US had expressed concern about space debris following the anti-satellite (ASAT) test carried out by India and said it expected that it does not endanger others’ equipment.
