“Who is Tejaswi to shut the door for Nitish?”: Senior Congress MLA

Republic TV has reported that the Congress party is irked with RJD leader and son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav’s assertion that there is no place for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the Mahagathbandhan. Senior Congress MLA, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, has said, “Who is Tejaswi to shut the door for Nitish?” He further added, “As far as RJD is concerned we deal with Lalu Ji and not Tejaswi. Who is Tejaswi? Lalu is a seasoned leader.”

Heaping praises on the former Bihar ally, Shakeel Ahmad also stated, “Nitish dialled Lalu Ji because he is not keeping well. There is nothing wrong with it. Nitish is a big leader and all secular forces should come together and Congress is open to it. All Mahagathbandhan parties should come together to fight BJP and Nitish is a big leader who wishes for development of Bihar that has not been fulfilled by BJP government.”

Amidst reports that there was a rift between JD(U) and the BJP over seat-sharing for the General Elections in 2019, Tejaswi Yadav had stated that Nitish Kumar would not be welcome in the Mahagathbandhan should he wish to come back. He had said, “Nitish ji has betrayed people every time. There is no one who chacha (Nitish Kumar) has not duped. If he wishes to come back, there will be no place for him in Mahagathbandhan.”

It appears that although the Congress is eager to forget Nitish Kumar’s past differences and transgressions, the RJD may not be so willing. Also, the Congress has made it abundantly clear now that it is willing to deal with a person convicted of corruption if it helps them regain political power.

Wearing Hindu religious symbols like kumkum and sacred thread could get kids expelled in Kerala school

In a shocking incident reported by Mirror Now, the principal of the government school of Palakkad district of Kerala has issued a diktat, threatening the students with expulsion if they are found to be using religious symbols like kumkum on their foreheads or sacred threads on their wrists.

This bizarre bigotry by the Kerala principal has stunned the parents of the students. The principal has also told the parents of the students that a student attending school with any religious symbols attached will not be tolerated by the school authority.

This communal decision is opposed by most of the parents, who says that government schools cannot issue such type of diktats. The parents have also accused the principal of repeated behaviour and complained that the principal issues such controversial orders often. This time it has crossed the entire threshold when he issued the diktat of threatening the kids from termination and also to the circular in the parent-teacher meeting held in the school recently.

Earlier, a government school run by an evangelical Christian effected an order on girl students not to wear flowers and bindi.

Three policemen abducted by ‘Pathalgadi’ supporters post police raids over activists’ gang rape, released

The policemen who were kidnapped from the home of a BJP MP, Karia Munda on Tuesday, allegedly by tribals in Jharkhand, have been released and have reported walking back on their own, to a nearby police station. The three cops were allegedly abducted by supporters of the Pathalgadi Movement that calls for some local tribal areas in Jharkhand to be declared as self-governed territories. The police had, however, launched a huge campaign to rescue these soldiers but surprisingly they were released and managed to walk free on their own.

The kidnapping happened hours after the police raided villages in Jharkhand’s Khunti area to find the men who had allegedly raped five activists last week. The villagers had tried to prevent the police contingent from entering the village earlier. Eyewitnesses to the abduction said around 150 men had come to the MP’s house.

The policemen were deployed outside the BJP MP’s house and it was believed that only three were kidnapped while the fourth managed to escape. However, the return of four personnel in total may have embarrassed the state police as top officers were reportedly oblivious to the abduction of the fourth cop, Nagendra Singh. Police, however, now believe that during a face-off between the police and Pathalgarhi supporters in Ghaghra village, Nagendra Singh, the fourth policeman, was also taken away.

Five women, including four young girls, were reportedly abducted and taken away to be gang-raped on gun point by a group of men on 19th June 2018. The women were part of an NGO. They were reportedly performing a street play to create awareness against migration and human trafficking. A group of men abducted the performers in a car and gang-raped them in a nearby forest. The perpetrators even reportedly made videos of the crime.

Jharkhand police had launched a man-hunt operation after they were informed by social workers a day later. The three policemen were abducted, allegedly by tribals in Jharkhand, after the police started search operations.

According to reports, though the incident happened in the school premises in the presence of the priests and nuns, none of them had complained to the police. A total of 12 people were detained by the police in an investigation into the gangrape.

The National Commission for Women said on Thursday the alleged gangrape of five NGO workers at gunpoint in Jharkhand’s Khunti district was planned ahead, and it questioned the role of the manager of the school from where the women were abducted.

The state BJP has demanded the formation of fast-track court in the case and punish the criminals within six months. According to some reports, PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India) leader Kushal Munda and his associates are allegedly involved in the matter. PLFI is a terrorist organization operating in the state. PLFI is reportedly a breakaway faction of the CPI(M) and has been involved in murders and several attacks in Khunti district in the past.

After propaganda on Kashmir, so-called UN experts now sympathize terrorist Saibaba

Days after India slammed UN’s Kashmir report claiming it legitimises terrorism, the United Nation Human Rights ‘experts’ have come out in support of Delhi University professor Saibaba with Maoist links who has been convicted for waging a war against India.

G N Saibaba, a professor of English in Ram Lal Anand College of the Delhi University, was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a Gadchiroli sessions court for waging war against India for his alleged Maoist links and involvement in anti-national activities.

He, along with JNU student Hem Mishra and former journalist Prashant Rahi, and three couriers were provided with this sentence.  They were convicted under the section 13, 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. One convict Vijay Tirki was sentenced to 10 yrs in jail.

This comes after the United Nations’ Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) had released a motivated campaign against the state, for the country’s efforts to curb Pakistan sponsored terror in Kashmir.

Saibaba was also alleged to have links with the people who are also accused of the Bhima-Koregaon violence.

The letter urges India to release the wheelchair bound terrorist G N Saibaba, to whom they refer as a human rights defender. It says, “UN rights experts are urging India to release human rights defender Dr. G.N. Saibaba, a wheelchair user with severe disabilities whose health is deteriorating and who is reportedly being held in solitary confinement”.

It also said it is concerned about the health status of the terrorist, “We are concerned about reports that Dr. Saibaba is suffering from more than 15 different health problems, some of which have potentially fatal consequences”. The ‘experts’ also accused the state of being discriminatory and ill-treating the terror mastermind. They have urged the government to stop keeping him in the solitary confinement, as he has severe disabilities.

It is deeply worrying to see that the UN experts refer the terrorist as the ‘long-standing defender’ of the rights of the various minorities in India.

The expert body, also known as ‘The Special Rapporteurs’ have called for immediate attention of Indian authorities to provide enough amenities to the terrorist. They have also urged the state to provide for adequate security for all the human rights activists in the country.

It is a dangerous trend these days to stand in support of the people who are being the masterminds of the terrorist activities. The Indian liberal industry has often been in the controversy for the reason that most of the so-called intellectuals have always stood by the side of these terrorists.

SIT hits a roadblock in Gauri Lankesh murder case

According to Bangalore Mirror, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate the Gauri Lankesh murder case has hit a new roadblock in their investigation. On Wednesday, Parashuram Waghmare, the man who allegedly open fired at Gauri Lankesh refused to ‘confess’ to the crime before the magistrate. Another significant cause of worry for the SIT is that the first accused arrested, KT Naveen Kumar, has claimed innocence and agreed to undergo a narco-analysis test to prove the same.

As reported by Bangalore Mirror, the SIT reportedly structured their whole case around statements and confessions but now it seems it’s all coming undone. The SIT’s confidence in their case could be sensed by their decision to only take out Waghmare out of the prison while the other five accused in custody were produced to the court via video conferencing.

Earlier, as per reports, Waghmare was painted as a Hindutva fanatic who was allegedly brainwashed to kill her as she was writing against Hindutva. It was alleged that Waghmare killed her taking it to be a matter of pride.

The other issue faced by the SIT is that of NT Naveen Kumar. Kumar’s lawyer A Vedhamurthy has said that Kumar was willing to undergo a narco-analysis test. The lawyer furthered, his client has nothing to hide as far as this particular case is concerned, and bullets seized from Kumar did not match the bullets found in Lankesh’s body.

Earlier in March, the SIT probing the murder had taken Naveen to Gujarat for narco-analysis, but had then backed off. Naveen has again agreed for narco-analysis to ‘prove his innocence’.  The lawyer blamed the lack of communication from the investigator’s side for Kumar’s earlier refusal to undergo a narco-analysis test in Gujarat and stated that the police officials failed to inform Kumar about the procedure properly which resulted in refusal from Kumar.

To make matters worse, the SIT is yet to find the murder weapon or any indication that the murder weapon has been destroyed. The SIT has, as of now, arrested Amol Kale from Pune, Amit Degwekar from Goa, Suchit Kumar alias Praveen from Shivamogga and Manohar Edave from Vijayapura in the Gauri Lankesh murder case.

Uttar Pradesh: police arrested a man with 3 quintals cow meat from Pukhrayan town

As reported by Amar Ujala Bureau, a man was arrested with three quintals of cow meat from a farm near Pukhrayan town in Kanpur Dehat district. As confirmed by police inspector Shiv Kumar Rathore, Bhognipur Kotwali sub-inspector Satyendra Singh Yadav along with SP Suresh Bajpai raided the farm near Chandapur village after getting a tip-off that four people were illegally engaging in cow slaughtering.

As police reached the spot, three out of the four accused ran away. However, one was caught. The accused was a local resident from Chandapur village named Sahar. He was caught with three quintals of cow meat and the tools which were used for cow slaughtering.

The three accused who fled was identified as Hasnain, son of a local resident of the Chandapur village named Kallan, the second accused was Hasnain alias Baba, son of a local, Pappu and the third was identified as Shafik son of a person named Maqbool. The police have lodged an FIR against the four accused and sent the meat to the animal husbandry department for further inquiry.

Last year on 29th December, nine people, including five women, were arrested for cow slaughter and three quintals of beef were seized from them during a raid on two houses in Khatoli town in Uttar Pradesh.

In January 2016, Police seized a large amount of beef from a utility vehicle which was being transported to Delhi and arrested the driver. The arrested driver claimed that one Bhura was the main person involved in this business but could not give any more details, they said.

However, these are only a few of the many such incidents which happen on a regular basis. Illegal cow slaughtering and cattle mafia have become an epidemic and a major flash-point for ethnic and religious conflicts leading to riots and even deaths, which needs attention and concrete action on an urgent basis.

Jews in Gujarat to receive minority status soon

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has announced that the small community of Jews living in the state will be granted minority status. He made the announcement during his recent 10-day trip to Israel.

The Jews in Gujarat are reportedly very small in numbers and they did not even feature as a separate community during the 2011 census. They were reportedly listed under ‘other communities’ that had total 16,480 names.

Presently there are reportedly less than 300 Jews in Gujarat belonging to the Bene Israeli Jew community. Almost 150 of them live in Ahmedabad alone. The religious minority status is expected to allow them concessions and other benefits. The community reportedly gathered in the Magen Abraham Synagogue in Ahmedabad to celebrate.

Members of the community have stated that the demand was being made since long and the minority status will ensure their security and will be beneficial in property rights and preservation of their heritage.

The Bene Israelis constitute the majority of Indian Jews. They live mainly in Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Gujarat. There have also been reports of them being targeted by Islamist jihadis. In 2017, the Gujarat ATS had arrested two Islamist jihadis suspected as ISIS operatives who were planning attacks on Jews in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. During his visit to India, PM Netanyahu had hailed India as a country where Jews had never faced persecution.

Four weeks after BJP worker’s body was found, police registers murder case in Purulia, West Bengal

Almost four weeks after the body of a 32-year-old BJP worker, Dulal Kumar, was found hanging from a high tension electricity pole, the police has filed a fresh murder case. Previously, the chilling incident was filed as ‘suicide’. As per a report in Economic Times, a case has been initiated under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The fresh case comes five days before BJP President Amit Shah’s visit to Purulia. The case has been registered as a murder case on the insistence of Dulal’s family, who have alleged it to be a murder, not a suicide. Following this incident, the Bengal BJP pinned the blame on TMC goons, whom it accused of executing the order of Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

To give some context, Mamata’s nephew had recently made a statement that “he would make Purulia opposition free”. Just a day later an 18-year-old BJP worker named Trilochan Mahato was found murdered in similar circumstances in Balrampur itself.

What made matters worse was the message inscribed on Trilochan’s shirt, which stated that he deserved to die for working for the BJP at such a young age. Dulal’s murder was the second in a week.

Rahul Gandhi has not asked for permission for Mansarovar Yatra, MEA exposes Congress’ lies

Last week the Congress had alleged that its party President Rahul Gandhi had not received any response from the government of India on his request for special permission to go for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Congress mouthpiece National Herald even grabbed it as an opportunity to criticise Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj citing that she responds promptly to every other request on Twitter.

It was then spread widely among Congress supporters on media and social media with an underlined assumption that the BJP-led government is obstructing the Congress President’s efforts to take on the arduous religious journey to Tibet autonomous region in Chinese territory, which is highly revered in among Hindus.

Rahul Gandhi has announced that he will go on the religious pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar on April 29,  after an incident of a technical snag during one of his flights from Karnataka to Delhi. Though the Congress had propagated the incident as a major technical malfunction alleging tampering and created a hue and cry over it, it was dismissed as a minor glitch by many sources. Some experts had even claimed that such glitches were not uncommon and Rahul Gandhi was not even aware of it till the plane landed safely in Delhi.

Following the incident, Rahul had announced in an election rally that he would go on a religious pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar after the Karnataka elections were over.

Following the claims of Congress, some reporters had sought details of his ‘request’ to the MEA. As the deadline for registration for the Yatra was from February 20 to March 20, Congress had reportedly stated that although the deadline has passed, Rahul had sought ‘special permission’ for the Yatra. Asian Age had reported that upon asking details of the request, Congress spokesperson had just said ‘it is in the process’.

However, the Ministry of External Affairs had made it clear that the ministry had received no such request from Rahul Gandhi. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar clarified that they have not received any request from Rahul Gandhi regarding Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

The Ministry of External Affairs organises the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra every year. This year it has commenced from 8th June and is expected to continue till September 8th. Hundreds of pilgrims take this high altitude arduous journey trekking in the harsh terrains of Himalayas. Pilgrims can take the MEA organised Yatra or can travel privately, which also requires permission from the MEA.

Even though Rahul had announced that he will visit Kailash after Karnataka elections were over, he has taken trips abroad a couple of times after it.

Conspiracy to murder journalist Shujaat Bukhari hatched in Pakistan and executed by Lashkar-e-Taiba: J&K Police

The Jammu and Kashmir police released a statement on Thursday revealing that the plan to murder journalist Shujaat Bukhari was hatched in Pakistan and was executed by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, DNA has reported. Bukhari was the editor-in-chief of media house “Rising Kashmir” and was gunned down in Srinagar on 14 June.

As per a quote by IGP Kashmir SP Pani, of the four identified terrorists, Sajad Gul is based out of Pakistan and Azad Ahmed Malik and Muzafar Ahmad Bhat are LeT operatives. The report also claimed that J&K police would be approaching the courts to get non bailable warrants to nail the accused.

A Times of India report stated that the police also released the photograph of the four accused. Gul is being dubbed as the mastermind of the crime and is also believed to be associated with the LeT. Gul who had earlier spent some time in jail in connection with a Delhi terror case, is reported to have gone to Pakistan in 2017 on a fraudulent passport. A lookout notice has been issued to try and trace him.

According to the report, IGP Pani also claimed that an online campaign was active against Bukhari in form of a Facebook page named – Kadwa sach Kashmir, website named – kashmirfight.wordpress.com, and a Twitter handler named Ahmed Khalid.

These accounts, the content for which was posted from Pakistan, were believed to have been spreading hateful and malicious content against Bukhari.
