Former AAP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, who later became the co-convener of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), donated Rs 21,100 to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during the 2025-26 financial year, before taking up his role in the CJP. His name appears among 1,202 numbered entries in the AAP’s contribution report filed with the Election Commission.

The report shows that AAP received Rs 12.10 crore in disclosed contributions during 2025-26. This was a 68 % drop from the Rs 38.10 crore reported by the party in 2024-25.
Prudent, Trident gave Rs 5 crore each
Two major contributors made up most of the donations received by AAP during the year. Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited contributed Rs 5 crore each. Their combined Rs 10 crore contribution accounted for nearly 83 % of AAP’s total disclosed contributions.
Trident’s cheque was dated January 9, 2026. The company was founded by former AAP Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta. He was associated with AAP when the contribution was made and later joined the BJP in April 2026.
Prudent Electoral Trust had also been AAP’s biggest contributor in 2024-25, when it gave Rs 16.40 crore. After the two Rs 5-crore contributions in 2025-26, the remaining disclosed contributions to AAP stood at about Rs 2.10 crore.
Kejriwal gave Rs 30,000, Atishi Rs 42,000
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also contributed to the party during the financial year. He made three separate payments of Rs 10,000 each, taking his total contribution to Rs 30,000.
Former Delhi chief minister Atishi made 12 payments of Rs 3,500 each. Her total contribution stood at Rs 42,000.
Punjab AAP president Aman Arora contributed Rs 1.20 lakh through 12 separate payments of Rs 10,000 each.
AAP donations fell after 2024-25 jump
AAP’s disclosed contributions have changed sharply over the past three financial years. The party reported Rs 11.06 crore in 2023-24. This increased to Rs 38.10 crore in 2024-25 before falling to Rs 12.10 crore in 2025-26.
The latest filing covers the first full financial year after AAP lost power in Delhi in February 2025. The party continues to govern Punjab, where Trident is based.
The report covers contributions disclosed by the party to the Election Commission. The filing requirement applies to contributions above Rs 20,000, so the amount shown in the report does not represent every contribution received by the party.
Donations reported by other regional parties
Other regional parties also reported changes in their contributions during 2025-26. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) reported Rs 58.25 crore, compared with Rs 83.03 crore in the previous financial year.
The YSR Congress Party reported Rs 24.31 crore in 2025-26, down from around Rs 140.04 crore in 2024-25. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), meanwhile, reported no contributions above Rs 20,000 in its latest filing.
