Bareilly: Police arrest Imran Qureshi and Raju Qureshi for involvement in cow slaughter, five others manage to escape

Bhojipura Police on Saturday (14th February) arrested two criminals, Imran Qureshi and Raju Qureshi, involved in cow slaughter following an encounter in the forest area of Singhai Kayesthan village in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. One of the accused sustained a leg injury in retaliatory police firing.

As per reports, the Bhojipura police station in charge was on patrol with the police force the night before, when he received an input that some cattle smugglers were planning to slaughter cows in the forest of Singhai Kayesthan. The police arrived at the scene at around 2:10 am to nab the culprits. However, the culprits opened fire at the police, and a bullet injured Constable Rinku’s arm.

The police fired at the culprits in retaliation, in which Raju, son of Ali Jan Qureshi, was injured and caught. The police were also able to arrest Ikram, son of Chhotan, at the spot. However, five other culprits managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness. The absonders have been identified as Shakeel, Zahid alias Anda, Javed, Zeeshan and Nadeem.

Police seized a large cache of cow slaughtering equipment and illegal weapons from the spot. The injured accused was sent to the Community Health Centre for treatment. Police are looking for the absconding culprits. All the culprits are reportedly part of a gang, which is wanted in a case under the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act registered at the Bhojipura police station. Accused Raju alone has 18 criminal cases pending against him.

Accuses Imran reportedly told the police that his Raju Qureshi, Shakeel Ahmed, Zahid alias Anda, Javed Ahmed, Zeeshan, and Nadeem, capture stray cattle, slaughter them and sell their meat. He said that the gang commits the thefts of cattle at night.
