Karnataka: Former soldier killed by wife and her lover to continue their extramarital relationship, grab ₹2 crore insurance

Sandeep Manjaragi, a 46-year-old ex-serviceman, recently passed away under dubious circumstances. He was from Ghodageri village in Hukkeri taluka in the Belagavi district of Karnataka. However, authorities have solved the case, which turned out to be a murder, with the help of critical observation of the events and investigations.

On 11th June (Thursday), they also excavated the deceased’s remains for forensic analysis after receiving authorisation from the court.

Suma, his 40-year-old wife, was behind the conspiracy so that she and her 26-year-old partner, Pundalik Dombar, could live openly. She also wanted her husband’s insurance payout of Rs 2 crore, reported The Times of India. The two admitted to the crime but have not been taken into custody yet.

The two men were partners in a hotel. Pundalik continued to work as a driver for the family when the business folded. On 13th March, Manjaragi suffered minor injuries in a bike accident close to Ghataprabha town in Gokak taluk. He passed away on 15th March despite only minor wounds.

His wife and her lover plotted to kill him as he received treatment in the hospital out of concern that his recovery could threaten their affair. The accused made an effort to demonstrate the death as a result of the accident. Police suspected hospital laboratory staff of being involved in the case. The latter reportedly assisted the primary accused in infusing pesticide through the saline in the hospital.

The discovery of evidence of the woman’s extramarital liaison marked a turning point in the matter. The conspiracy was revealed through the prolonged interrogation of the perpetrators.
